TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
Hello and welcome to the Mistral Regional Tournament! We’ve compiled everything you need to know as a spectator into one easy to digest package for your reading pleasure.
The 15th Mistral Regional Tournament is an annual contest held in Argus in the Kingdom of Mistral that serves as the main scouting grounds for the next generation of men and women who take it upon themselves to have the dream of becoming Huntmen and Huntresses. To achieve this lofty title, each of these students must first be admitted to one of the ‘Big Four’ Huntsman Academies. Out of those Big Four, this year we have three attending the tournament. Representatives from Atlas Academy in Atlas, Beacon Academy in Vale, and of course Haven Academy in Mistral will all be attending this event.
This year’s particularly interesting because Haven Academy is doing a massive recruitment drive due to the tragic events of The Fall last year. The way the tournament is arranged is quite simple and is designed to show off the combat abilities of those of age to graduate from primary combat academies.
There are sixty-four slots to fill, and the top ten students from Sanctum Academy get in automatically due to their status as the most prestigious primary combat academy in the Kingdom of Mistral in addition to producing the last three winners! Those who are not ranked in the top ten of Sanctum Academy get put in a much smaller and private qualifying tournament that is open to all members of the public within the age bracket of sixteen to nineteen as long as your birthday would have you turning seventeen by the start of the next school year. Out of this qualifier, the last forty-four slots are filled up and the tournament is off to the races!
The bracket is split up between the Blue wing and the White wing, the left and right side of the bracket. The first two days are what we call ‘The Blitz’. It tests the stamina and mentality of our contestants by forcing them to go into their first match completely unsure of who they will face if they win. They get minimal time to prepare for their second match and must use that time wisely to plan and additionally will may even suffer penalties in aura if they take too much damage in their first match of the day. Unpredictability is the name of the game, because you can’t always know a lot about a situation as a Huntsman before you have to rush in there and save the day.
The lineup for matchups are as follows:
The day before the first round is the preliminary rounds, in which every primary combat academy trained individual must win 1 round and each 'wild card' who has not completed this requirement must win 2 rounds for the honor of participating in the main event.
Day 1: White Wing Round of 64 and 32, the Blitz.
Day 2: Blue Wing Round of 64 and 32, the Blitz.
Day 3: Off day.
Day 4: White Wing Round of 16.
Day 5: Blue Wing Round of 16.
Day 6: Media day leading up to Quarterfinals
Day 7: White Wing Quarterfinals
Day 8: Blue Wing Quarterfinals
Day 9: Media day leading up to Semi-finals
Day 10: White Wing Semi-finals, winner represents White in Finals
Day 11: Blue Wing Semi-Finals, winner represents Blue in Finals
This is the opening event for The Remnant Project! The goal of this is to introduce everyone to the combat system as well as events in general so that a lot of members have a good grasp of it going forward. This is the introductory event, and due to it being started concurrently with the grand opening of the site will have lesser obligations than most events in the future. This event will not be death enabled, and all you have to do to get the event reward of One Event Point is to complete a round in the Mistral Regional Tournament. This is intended very much as a tutorial to the combat system here on TRP, though the winner will get their name on the cereal boxes and get to brag about it for a long time to come.
The event will start February 3rd. Basically how this is going to work is there are two 'categories' you can sign up for in order to get your Event Point (and the 250 XP you can exchange for it). The 'PvE' rounds are the Round of 64 and the Round of 32, and the PvP rounds are the Round of 16 onward. More details on what to expect on each round can be found later on in the doc, but generally speaking things get harder as you go along.
Depending on number of participants, most if not all PvP matches will be scheduled and threads created for the Round of 16 on February 16th. If there are more participants who signed up for the PvP rounds than can participate in the Round of 16, volunteers or RNG will determine who plays out PvP in the Round of 32. New threads will be unable to be created in the event area on February 23st except for tournament threads. Those that missed the PvP round cutoff can still get their EP in this timeframe by requesting a Round of 64 match. A shift will happen on March 1st when the City of Mistral will be opened up for the entire board and no new signups will be accepted at this time. Non-Tournament threads will be graded on March 9th, so please finish your threads before then in the event area if they're not the actual combat rounds! The tournament rounds themselves will go on until we have a clear winner, but double XP will stop being granted for any rounds created after March 16th as a little extra incentive.
The timing for this is a bit awkward, I admit, but especially in the beginning I want to ensure that those members who join us after the Thread Creation cutoff on February 21st are not sitting there with minimal places to post for a long period of time. The school year starts early this year at Haven Academy, and while the winner of the Grand Final will almost certainly not be known when the Academy boards open up -- rest assured you can brag about your win for a long time to come. The opening event is meant as an introduction to the systems on The Remnant Project, with the real meat and potatoes of the site in the City of Mistral opening up soon after a month has passed to enable a much larger group to be part of the first group to behold their new home for the first time.
So, logistically, how this is going to work is everyone is going to have either a Round of 64 or a Round of 32 match that gains Event Points from this event. These can run concurrently with PvP round threads, because it is assumed that you win them unless you choose not to go on to the PvP rounds, but should rarely happen. Those that join close to the February 14th signup for the PvP round will be given a short Round of 64 match to steamroll through and cut your teeth a bit, and those that join a bit earlier are encouraged to do a Round of 32 match that has a big more meat and potatoes to it.
If you ended up joining before the cutoff date for the final rounds but before the new thread cutoff, you are absolutely and completely free to request a short Round of 64 match in order to complete the requirement for your Event Point. If you missed this date, do not fret! The opening event is a miniature one that runs for shorter and has less reward than a full one! Signup sheet for matches can be found right here!
The Blitz consists of the Rounds of 64 and 32, and is done on the first two days of the tournament.
The Round of 64 is a very short thread where you will be pitted up against an NPC that is weaker than you and you will almost definitely stomp the poor competitor in 1-2 rounds. No post timer.
The Round of 32 is a longer form thread that can be expected to last between 2-4 rounds. Losing is very possible here, and PvP matches will be conducted at this level if we get a huge initial rush of members. No post timer.
The Round of 16 will be partially NPC vs. PC and partially PC vs. PC depending on member participation before the cutoff. There will be a 48 hour post timer for each person to respond in turn to ensure that the tournament progresses in a timely manner. Extensions are possible, but limited to 2 per thread.
The Round of 8 is the quarterfinals, and there will be a 48 hour post timer for each person to respond in turn to ensure that the tournament progresses in a timely manner. Extensions are possible, but limited to 2 per thread. The only NPCs in this round will be those who specifically won a match in the Round of 16.
The Round of 4 is the semifinals, and there will be a 48 hour post timer for each person to respond in turn to ensure that the tournament progresses in a timely manner. Extensions are possible, but limited to 2 per thread.
The Grand Finals is the finals, and the 48 hour post timer applies here too. Extensions are possible, but limited to 2 per thread.
