Soon, all of the sins committed by the misguided leaders of this community would be rectified. Justice would reign, and then peace would finally be had for the denizens of Mistral. The weaponry upgrade was easy to manage, considering he had hollow point arrows anyway. Karasu was a weapon that seemed almost ornamental in this day and age. It was a dark red bow built with custom-made arrows specifically designed to cut through grimm hide lesser people called them broadheads, but it was common knowledge all throughout the Vale that it was the Nayamasa Clan who had come up with the design. It was the Nayamasa Clan who was the very reason why the Four Kingdoms existed, really, but the last scion was treated like this? Absurd. [break][break]

The weapon has a bracing glove of crimson metal that clung to Nayamasa's hand for extra stability and contains a chamber built to allow lightning dust to be introduced into the weapon, allowing for electrically charged arrows that can more than match modern guns. The weapon may also transform into a thin, guardless double-edged rapier, allowing for Nayamasa to engage in melee combat with opponents that get in close. It took some time to transfer five pounds of lightning dust into usable vials and into his weaponry, but he had done it. He could attack many more times than he normally could without the dust at a much greater potency than before. [break][break]

Soon, the masses would see what the last of the Nayamasa Clan had done to save their city from the filth that had permeated through it. Soon, he would get the recognition and fame that he deserved. Soon, he would be able to finally show the world that the Nayamasa Clan were at the top of the world once again even with one member left. He would be on the cereal boxes, on the Friday night talk shows, and have action figures made in his image for his heroic actions this night! He would be the one to save Haven! He would be the one to bring them all into glory, kicking and screaming the whole way. [break][break]

But first, he needed help. He couldn’t do this alone, not with the aura hit that he had suffered at the hands of that oversized gorilla. The fact that their scrolls were still working was… problematic, but it was nothing a few pounds of lightning dust and a couple of stalwart allies couldn’t solve in a pinch. So to that end, the blonde sped his golf cart over to the dorms and sprinted inside screaming and banging on every door up and down every floor. [break][break]

”Get up! Get up! The school has been attacked! The school has been attacked! I need you to help! I need you to help!” he’d slam his fist on every door in the dorm, screaming the entire way. [break][break]

”They stole Brigit’s scroll! They’re pretending to be Brigit! They burned her in the training facilities! One person is dead already!” [break][break]

”Get up! Get up! The school has been attacked! We’re under attack! Someone killed Brigit and stole her scroll to pretend to be her! They burned down the training facility! We’re under attack! I need your help!” [break][break]

And so on and so forth. He needed at least a couple of people to help him out in his endeavor to save the school, even with the immense boost to his own physical abilities afforded by enough dust to not worry about running out anytime soon. One other person would make it possible, and two other people would make it likely. Anyone who was still in the dorms was either a moron or asleep, and it would be easy to convince either of the real truth to what was going on before the imposter came and poisoned their brains with their lies. Ferric was the one trying to save everyone in the school. The Empty guy was panicked and hiding out without a care in the world to people dying, so he was useless. Brigit was dead and gone in the fire, with an imposter running around using her scroll and school identification. Nikolas was missing, having fucked off hours prior for an unknown reason. Carmim’s location was unknown, but probably in the dorms somewhere. He had to find her, and Braun, and anyone else who was here and rally them to the defense of the school. It might already be too late, but he would do his best anyway. [break][break]

He would get the glory that he sought and restore his rightful place in society or die trying in the attempt. There was no other option, now that he had exposed himself this much and drew the ire of the fake Brigit. The blonde needed to rally everyone and make it over there before it was too late and all of this effort and all of the blood shed would have been for nothing.

Why did there have to be so much snow. Back home it was just rocks and lava that you had to deal with, and occasional fire dust and rockslides. All of that was so much better than spending triple the amount of time it would normally take to get to the dorms just because she had to tread through snow. It didn’t help that she had quickly decided it wasn’t worth using her grapples for this, it took far too much energy for her to run her legs that hard for so long and honestly it didn’t matter how long it took for her to get to the dorms, she would still be able to find the asshole that nearly killed her and cut him into bite sized pieces. Knowing all that, and the reasons behind her slow trek through the freezing cold, absolutely did not help the general unease and restlessness that was slowly taking hold of the red head. She didn’t like hiking, and that was all this was. Hiking with weights tied to her ankles and the threat of frostbite. It was all too slow, too monotonous and not nearly dangerous enough to really get her blood pumping. It felt like a chore that she had to do in order to get to the fun bits and she didn’t have the benefit of just choosing not to do it like a normal chore. It sucked. Everything about this sucked. And to make matters worse she was going to have to spend hours cleaning the pyromaniacs blood out of her prosthetics and then making sure the snow hadn’t gummed anything up. It was going to be a long, shitty night regardless of how things went. Brigit was a firm believer at this point that she absolutely should have just stayed at the climbing wall and ignored the blackout till it went away. But no, there was an explosion so she /had/ to check it out. What a fucking joke. It was a while before she arrived at the dorms, but she eventually did manage just that and strolled up to the first doors she came across to enter into whatever building that happened to be. She would check each of them, room by room if she had to, to find her quarry and there was nothing that would stop her from tracking him down and gutting him like a fish. Really the first sound once on the first floor was the sound of a male voice coming from one the rooms. That was odd because the first floor was the girl’s dorm, and also the fact that it was coming from the bathroom. Seeing as though it was in the same direction as the stairs leading upwards, Brigit would have to walk by and without going inside the bathroom two things would be apparent – the first was that the voice belonged to someone that wasn’t Ferric, and the second was that the most violent bowel movement in the city was taking place courtesy of this guy in the women’s restroom. [break][break]

There was a smashed scroll in the hall outside of the restroom, and it looked like it either got smashed against a hard surface or stomped on a number of times due to the level of damage it sustained. The doors in the dorms were sturdy, but they were sturdy wood and not exactly hard to take out. Frankly what Brigit would realize was that forcing open each door like she originally planned would be extremely exhausting and moreover most of the rooms were empty… as she would realize somewhere between the first and tenth empty room on the first floor. The condition of the rooms varied wildly, from neatly kept and normal to an absolutely disgusting room that looked like a dozen pigs had taken up residence and covered the place with filth. Really the only saving grace for these people and the only reason the room wasn’t covered in ants and gnats was the fact that it was so damned cold that all of them died already. The stench from some of these rooms was enough to be a threat to Brigit’s life by themselves, frankly. [break][break]

If Brigit did not procure a source of light, however, everything would just be pitch black because the power was completely out.

Brigit had never really intended to force any of the doors open, but testing a few of them seemed like a good enough plan so she did so until it became obvious that most of these rooms weren’t going to have anything of note within. The guy wouldn’t likely be in a room anyways, he would probably be running around the hallways screaming for help rather than being smart enough to huddle inside a room where Brig wouldn’t find him as easily. She took out her scroll and activated the flashlight app on it as she stalked through the halls in search of the man who’d tried to burn her, going through each one relatively quickly and ignoring the rooms themselves unless the doors were open or otherwise unlocked before her arrival. If he wasn’t in the first dorm building she checked, she would move to the second and do the exact same thing over again until she either located him or had checked every dorm building, whichever happened to come first. About midway through the first dorm she had to stop herself from sending more angry texts into the group chat, she didn’t want him to know she was close. In theory the element of surprise was on her side at the moment and even Brigit wasn’t quite crazy enough to give that up. The way the dorm was arranged was that there were four levels and a roof. The format of the dorms was the first floor was a girl’s floor, the second floor was the boy’s floor, and so on and so forth. The first floor, aside from the guy with the violent bowel movements and the smashed phone was more or less completely empty. The second floor had signs of a struggle, with at least one gaping hole in the ceiling from some sort of weapon along with slash markings on some of the walls to go along with the burn damage around those slashes. A couple of doors were smashed open already on this floor, though from searing through the wood rather than by forcing open the hinges. [break][break]

Nobody was on this floor, though. On the stairway up to the third floor, there was more damage to the walls and even to the stairs themselves. There was shrapnel, too, and broken parts of what looked to be arrows and some broadheads stuck in the walls. Toward the middle of the third floor was a figure leaning against the wall, slumped over with blood pooling on the floor beneath it. A large man, the guy wore an all brown ensemble consisting of a coat, cargo pants, combat boots, and an army helmet with goggles. Around his neck he wore a scarf and reaching from his shoulder across to his hip, he carried a bandolier with pouches. [break][break]

Currently, however, he had about four arrows in his chest and some nasty looking burn wounds and was clearly either unconscious or dead – one would have to actually come up very close to be able to tell if he was breathing or not. This floor had the most damage, with the grenade launcher on the ground next to the man being the likely culprit of all the holes in the walls, doors, and ceiling around him. On the bright side, this narrowed down the list of places Ferric could be very significantly – either he was on the next floor up, or the roof. [break][break]

The roof was so high up that while a jump off was possible it wasn’t exactly likely, so if he wanted to climb down from that area it would have taken some time and it was impossible for him to have escaped out of this building without going down these stairs if he had gone through the normal way. That also narrowed down the options, because it meant that he was either waiting somewhere for his special guest or trying to work a way out through either a window or the roof somewhere. Either way, Brigit didn’t exactly have a lot of time to lose.

It seemed he was outright murdering people now. Brigit gave a passing glance to the person she assumed was another student, but didn’t bother stopping her search to check if he was alive or not. If he was alive, then there was nothing Brigit could do to make him better, and if he was dead then who the hell cares, she couldn’t do anything for that either. She assumed he was dead and moved on, working her way up to the next floor and this time checking each of the doors handles to see if any were unlocked incase the psychopath had broken into one and tried to escape through a window. If any were unlocked she would open them and swiftly move inside with her weapons at the ready incase her target actually was inside. If however none of the doors were unlocked, or alternatively if all were empty, she worked her way up to the top floor still using her scroll as light while she climbed the steps to the most likely location for her target to be. He would have had to pull some serious shit to make it out of this before she arrived on the roof. He’d be here. He had to be. And when she found him she was going to make him pay for what he had tried to do, pay with his life if she had her way but that could change depending on what happened when she finally found him. The fourth floor was tampered with, but not particularly violently. The first aid kit was smashed and stolen, with glass shards scattered throughout the floor. Some of the doors were indeed unlocked, and while the windows were intact it seemed the blankets and other bed sheets of several beds were stolen. It didn’t exactly take a rocket scientist to figure out what the plan was with that information, especially because the only floor remaining was the roof. Rushing through these rooms and checking so thoroughly was doing a number on her stamina, but she was still good to fight for a bit once she made it to the top. [break][break]

The roof itself was pitch black, and with the light making Brigit’s position obvious it wasn’t exactly a surprise when the first thing that greeted her was a lightning dust enhanced broadhead. Expecting it did a heck of a lot towards avoiding it – or in this case just sticking out a metal arm to deflect it. If it was just a normal broadhead it would have grazed off with next to no damage, but the fact that it was filled with lightning dust caused it to explode on impact and take out about fifteen percent of Brigit’s aura – leaving her with roughly forty-five percent remaining. The second attack was more of a grenade than an arrow, chocked with several doses of lightning dust. It was fired like a cannon from the palm of Ferric’s hand, probably his semblance, and exploded all around the girl. ”You ruined EVERYTHING! You stupid IDIOT! Without you I could have SAVED EVERYONE! I would have been a HERO but nooooooooo…” [break][break]

Firing off a second and third arrow in the area where Brigit was in quick succession would have worked, because after such a massive overkill as using five doses of lightning dust to wipe out less than half of someone’s aura would have left almost anyone else left unable to move or function for at least a minute due to the intense strain on their body as their aura broke. The redhead, however, had her semblance activated right before it would have broke and had her stamina completely restored as a result as well as boosting her aura from near-zero to one third in an instant. The smoke from the lightning dust grenade obscured her movements enough to easily dodge the arrows by moving in any direction other than directly forwards or redirect them with her metal arms to make them fall uselessly to the ground if she decided to just charge forward. ”What the fu—“ the blonde teenager would exclaim after he caught sight of her in a very much not dead state for the first time after the attack, stopped in the middle of his rant about how she had ruined everything completely caught unawares in his confidence that nobody could have survived that many doses of lightning dust to their aura – certainly not a first year trainee, anyway. Unfortunately for Ferric, though, he thought wrong and had no idea what Brigit’s semblance was and accidentally played right into it by relying on one massively powerful attack to finish her off rather than a series of them. Moreover, each flash of light from the lightning dust revealed his position at the edge of the roof with a rope made of the sheets and blankets half-made for an escape.

What was a surprise however, thanks to her not really checking the chat history on her scroll when she got free of the fire, was the mass amount of lightning dust that she found attached to those attacks. It was a powerful barrage he unloaded upon her, unfortunately for the psycho he didn’t exactly plan for her semblance. Few people had seen her fight since arriving at Haven so it made sense that he wasn’t aware that all he was doing was making her stronger but the sheer stupidity of it all had her give a barking laugh as she tucked her scroll into her pocket and sprinted free from the smoke cloud, knocking the poorly aimed followup shots aside with her prosthetics as she got in range for her grapples. With a loud clang and a hissing noise, both grapples launched free of their slots in her thighs and flew through the air towards her target. She couldn’t see him in the darkness, not without her scroll, but thanks to his mistake she knew his general location well enough that one of the grapples found purchase by wrapping firmly around his waist while the other slammed home into the stone lip of the roof, anchoring itself in as Brigit used the grapples to full force yank herself with as much speed as she possibly could towards the edge of the roof and the idiot who thought it’d be a smart idea to try and hurt her of all people. She flew through the air at speed, legs ready to catch herself when she finally reached the end of the line and arms poised to stab directly into her target like a praying mantis when she got close enough. She wanted to wrap him in a hug of sorts, with her body anchored to his via the grapples and her arms stabbing downwards into his shoulder blades. Unfortunately that was not meant to be. Brigit made contact with her target as expected, though slightly off angle thanks to one of her grapples missing him entirely. This resulted in only one of her arms being able to make a glancing blow over Ferrics shoulder, flickering his aura but not doing much to actually knock him down and keep him there. Her grapples spooled back into their housing in her thighs as Brigit reared up to her full height beside the kid. That was all he was, an idiot kid that went through a mental break and thought it’d be a good idea to kill a whole bunch of people. This absolutely COULD NOT BE HAPPENING. He had blasted this crazy bitch with FIVE DOSES of lightning dust. That was enough to kill even a huntsman, but yet somehow, she survived even after being thrown into a burning building and the door locked on the exit. This was absurd. This couldn’t be real, because this wasn’t a person it was a goddamned demon. [break][break]

A demon that was trying to kill him. [break][break]

In the darkness something came and attached to him, which led to intense panic. He slipped and ran and dodged with every fibre of his being with the momentary certainty that he was going to die and managed to not get hit by the entirety of the attack by Brigit afterwards completely by accident. Unfortunately for him, though, the hit to his arm caused him to drop his bow… right over the edge of the roof. [break][break]

Fuck. [break][break]

This was bad. He had managed to break free of whatever had coiled around his waist, but he was weaponless against an opponent that seemed to be unable to be hurt by conventional means. It was looking dangerously like he was going to lose here, and that absolutely could not happen. He could not lose here, because it was occurring to him at last that things didn’t exactly look very good for him. If he was captured, he would be made to look like the villain because he was prevented from saving the day as he had initially planned. [break][break]

He would have gotten the exact opposite outcome that he had hoped for. [break][break]

If he couldn’t get the glory of victory, the least he could do was ensure he didn’t dishonor himself at the very end. He had stolen some of the fire dust from the man claiming to be Nikolas earlier, and combined with the lightning dust in his quiver that would make one hell of an explosion. All he had to do was activate it, which was easy because he stored the fire dust in his jacket. The fire dust would ignite the lightning dust, and there would be a giant explosion that would kill both of them. [break][break]

There was only one problem with his strategy – and that was made abundantly clear the moment he activated the fire dust. His quiver was on his back, and the fire dust lurched forward to hit Brigit as well as himself in an attack that shattered both of their auras in a direct hit to both. The lightning dust never activated, and he had no way to access it without reaching behind him and leaving himself open to attack. Silver aura shattered to pieces in an explosion that knocked both of them about a meter away from each other, but Ferric was committed and recovered almost instantaneously. [break][break]

He couldn’t give an inch, because he couldn’t afford to lose. Not here, not like this. Unable to use his semblance and with his weapon on the ground several stories down, he was forced to use his hands and feet for the final stretch of this fight. He lunged forward and at the last moment redirected what looked to be a punch to a side kick that landed directly into the throat of his opponent at full force. [break][break]

He was the last remaining member of the famed Nayamasa Clan, sworn to bring glory and honor to the name. He could not afford to let this third rate animal take his birthright from him, and because she had escalated this situation so far it seemed this could only end in the death of one or the other. Her aura was finally broken now, so the kick hit the softer flesh around his enemy’s throat and was a fantastic start – an enemy that couldn’t breathe also couldn’t fight… [break][break]

But Brigit’s neck had a lot more muscle than most others and fended off the damage better than most others could. Even with a direct hit, her ability to fight was unimpeded despite the obvious pain and momentary difficulty breathing in the aftermath of the attack.

Her aura breaking was accompanied by the wings of flaming aura that had formed on her back floating away as ashes on the wind, and her strength returned to normal. But if this asshole thought that would be enough to save himself he was even crazier than she’d thought originally. She got back up and moved forward, only to be rewarded with a solid kick to the neck and the accompanying trouble to breathe for a few moments. Still though, as adrenaline pumped into her and Brigit got more and more excited about the fight it only made her want to kill him even more. The threat of death, if anything, made the whole situation more enjoyable for Brigit rather than anything truly frightening. One bladed arm grabbed his leg, wrenching it forwards and making her opponent stumble slightly on his one leg as she clasped the leg that had kicked her and used one of her own to aim a sharply bladed kick directly into Ferrics manhood. No mercy for a man who’d tried to kill her three times now. Unfortunately he wrenched his leg free from her grasp, cutting some of the cloth of his pants on the blade extending out of her arm but the whole process allowed him to create enough distance between the two of them that her bladed kick only dug a bloody gash into his thigh rather than anything truly painful. Still, bladed weapons versus fists had Brigit with a much higher chance of victory at this point, and the blood she drew when her leg cut into his thigh would surely give him second thoughts about trying any kicks again. She tried to remain close, cutting the distance between them in such a way that he wouldn’t be able to kick even if he wanted to and raising her bladed forearms in front of her face to block any attempts at punches. It was a direct hit, right to the windpipe of his opponent… but it didn’t seem to slow her down at all. The bitch managed to cut his leg on the way out of that perfectly placed, immaculately skilled kick to the throat as well. Another factor that was only really considered now that plans A and B hadn’t worked was the fact that Brigit was literally more metal than person… and that metal apparently was filled with very sharp edges. [break][break]

In fact, this wasn’t a human at all. This was a cyborg, probably with an artificial brain too. Or a robot wearing human skin except badly. It was creepy, really, whatever the hell it was… but there was no time to think of these things when the threat of death was so near. This was bad, this was very very bad. [break][break]

The teenager leaned in forward and feinted with another kick before knife handing the throat of his opponent a second time… but there was a redirection with one of the woman’s metal arms that ate most of the power and left a grazing punch to the head of his opponent instead. The redirection of force also left him forward and in melee range of his opponent for a moment longer than he wanted, making backing away a more difficult proposition with his arm shooting upwards rather than forward. ”You won’t get away with this!” the blonde spat, more for himself than anyone else. Nothing he was doing seemed to put a dent in this psycho, and frankly he was starting to find it harder to breathe between the cold and his increasing expenditure of energy. This needed to be ended sooner rather than later, before exhaustion started to set in. This was bad, this was really really bad. [break][break]

But he had to survive. He had no other choice in the matter and would do anything it took to make it happen. Red eyes glanced to the edge of the roof oh so very nearby, and an idea finally clicked in his head. If he could just throw the demon off of the edge, there was no way she could survive without being seriously injured and easy prey for a more or less fresh Ferric by the time he got down to the ground level. It was a level of strategy that took a true genius to even think of, which is why it was fitting for the last scion of the Nayamasa Clan. He would win the battle with his next move, with an attack that couldn’t possibly be predicted by the psychotic simpleton in front of him. How did she think she could stand against him, the most naturally talented member of their year? How did she think she could stand against the greatest talent to ever grace Remnant? How did she think she could get away with attacking the hope of Haven and allowing those villains to win? [break][break]

No. She wouldn’t. He would make sure of that, the only way he knew how.

Another failed stupid attack from Ferric left his hand open to being grabbed by Brigit much as his leg had been. This time though she got a much firmer grip and decided to seal the deal by launching her grapples point blank at him, each of them wrapping themselves around his waist and anchoring them quite firmly together with little hope for him to do any movement that she didn’t want him to. She threw his hand behind her, letting it drape over her back before she allowed the grapples to tug them into the least friendly embrace they possible could, giving Ferric almost no room to move his legs and nothing on Brigits front for him to be able to punch as the two of them were now chest to chest. Brigit however had blades on her arms, a distinct advantage. Like one would with a lover, she draped her arms over his shoulders, curling them around his neck just enough for the blades to start cutting into the skin,drawing blood that pooled and dripped onto Brigits metal arms and down the blades to her own flesh and blood shoulders. It was brutal, sure, but she had no regrets - none that her adrenaline and thrill filled mind could muster anyways. Any rational part of the huntress in training had long since been pushed deep into the back of her mind by thoughts of exacting her revenge on a man who tried to kill her. Slowly she tightened her grip, not releasing her grapples and allowing them to tighten around his waist as they sat in the worlds most painful hug. ”Does it hurt yet? Can you feel it? Hm? Can you? The demon got him. [break][break]

Some weird tentacle shit came out and wrapped around his waist again, and the animal bearhugged him with blades sticking out all over her body and dug into his skin in the process. Thankfully, the sheer panicked strength of the teenager was enough to ensure they didn’t connect fully as he was able to free himself from the bear hug before the blades could sink fully into his flesh – which was good, too, because otherwise he might have been too injured to fight back. [break][break]

He could have tried to free himself from the tentacles around his waist, but that would be too risky and would force his hands downwards and unable to protect himself. What he did instead was simple and took advantage of the fact that they were so close together. He grabbed the throat of the redhead with both hands and yanked her to the side, right off the roof. [break][break]

”I win, you animal!” he’d scream as he forced both himself and his opponent off of the roof of the dormitories. From there, there was only one objective… making sure the enemy and the terrorist took the brunt of the impact. Whoever took the brunt of the impact was going to be dead or seriously injured, and Ferric needed to do everything in his power to make sure it wasn’t him. He squeezed as hard as he could at the throat of his opponent and for the first time he saw the animal struggle to draw breath. She was finally tiring and finally taking damage, so all he needed to do was take advantage of that momentary duress to ensure that she hit the ground first – and then Ferric would win and be able to cover his tracks. After all, saying that she was the one responsible for all of this wasn’t even a stretch. It was the honest to God truth, considering if she hadn’t interfered Ferric would have saved everyone from the imminent danger they were in. Instead, however, the villains accomplished their objective and were no doubt already off of campus completely scot free after enacting their dastardly plan. It was her fault, really, that any of this happened in the first place. Pinning it on her would be easy from the chat logs, so all he needed to do was survive to spin the narrative in his favor. He could still be the hero if he killed a villain, and this was his last chance. If the only two options were win or die, it was his duty to ensure that it was someone else who died in his stead. This demon was more than fitting as a scapegoat and tribute, so that was what he would do.

The last thing Brigit had expected was for the two of them to go flying off the edge on purpose. As an accidental thing, perhaps one getting pushed off by the other or both tumbling off while they fought, that would have been expected. But Brigit didn’t think anyone was quite dumb enough to jump off of a building while attached to another person that had an easy way to free herself from it. As they fell, Brigit worked her arms between her opponents, bringing the bladed forearms up and cutting at the arms choking her as she went, nothing deep but enough to cause pain if nothing else. Then she pushed outwards, releasing his arms from around her neck and giving her a chance to breathe properly again for the first time since the fall began. She took a deep breath of air and with a mental command the grapples that had connected the two of them came undone, retracting into her thighs as she pushed Ferric away to create some distance between them. He got a grip on one of her two grappls, a grip that kept him closer to her than she would have liked for a while longer than was ideal. But eventually it slipped free, allowing Brigit to re-fire her grapples into the wall of the dorm and tug herself sideways instead of down, cutting most of her momentum with a lurch and a metallic whine of protest as her limbs had to bear the increased weight. But she was clear, her grapples pulled her into the wall and let her anchor there as Ferric tumbled down to the ground floor and the snow covered concrete awaiting him. Wasting no time, Brigit slowly released the grapples and lowered herself in a well practiced maneuver as one would use when rock climbing to get back to the ground. Fucking hell. [break][break]

The blades dug in just enough that the instinctive reaction was to loosen his grip just a bit before the brain took over and stopped it… and in that second of wavering the demon broke free. The demon broke free and coiled the tentacles – no, metal cords, away from him and tried to escape. He wasn’t going to let this fucker bail out and avoid the fall, though, and Ferric grabbed onto one of the cords to slow his own fall as well as he plunged down. While this likely saved his life in the short term, the firm grasp he had with his right hand on the cord also ensured that when he did fall the flesh of the inside part of his hand stayed on the cord. [break][break]

The landing was hard and there was a crunching noise as he landed on his side – more than likely a couple of ribs broken along with the fact that his right hand was now bleeding profusely. In the brief period between his rolling landing and his opponent’s inevitable arrival, he managed to run over and grab his weapon with his left hand. He transformed it to its double-edged rapier form, and saw with satisfaction that there was still some lightning dust inside. Enough for one last attack, enough for one last chance to win this thing. [break][break]

As the voice of the redhead rang out, Ferric turned and hurled his rapier after activating the lightning dust inside at what amounted to point-blank range. Unfortunately for him, the combination of broken ribs and being forced to throw with his off hand made it harder than usual for him to actually hit his target and he flat missed. He overshot Brigit, and not only that the rapier went sailing to the left of her and instead the lightning dust and lethal tip of the blade activated in the snow with an audible sizzling noise and the destruction of all the snow within about a meter of the landing. He panicked, then, and tried to simultaneously run and reach his good hand backwards to try and get some more lightning dust. He still had arrows filled with the stuff in his quiver, so if he got his hands on it, he could still pull through and win. He could still win, he could still survive. Blood was dripping heavily from the forearm and hand of the teenager, and it was clear that hand was useless and would be unable to even close in the condition that it was in with bones being visible in some places as the hand flexed. Brigit had exhausted her stamina at this point and was starting to get exhausted, while Ferric still had a bit more energy before he started to really suffer the physical effects of exhaustion. As a result, if the blonde managed to get away from any initial retaliation he would be faster than his opponent and would be able to create distance by simply turning tail and fleeing. On the other hand, the blood loss from Ferric would catch up to him sooner rather than later so he didn’t exactly have a lot of time himself to work with.
