TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
The roar of the crowd was the first thing that hit the four assembled students of team MARS as the doors into the arena opened. It washed over them like a tide as they entered, a veritable tsunami of noise and sound the scale of which no one had ever experienced before. It was one thing to do battle in front of their classmates or professors, but here in the mechanical behemoth that was the Amity Colosseum, under the eyes of crowds that dwarfed anything that had ever watched them before, the pressure and weight of the situation would sink in like the proverbial ton of bricks.
Before the four students lay the arena reserved for them and their opponents. Larger than three football fields put side by side, the fighting grounds lay a hundred and fifty meters in diameter and had the capability of changing the environments within between rounds, so that no two fights would ever be the same. Split evenly down the middle now were the two biomes that MARS and MRLT would be fighting in, stretching the fifty meters from the featureless grey octagon that sat squarely in the center to the edge of the arena proper and the brown dirt that ran around its edge for a good distance more before it hit the wall and force field that would protect the audience from anything gone awry. Of course, said force field was invisible to the eye unless impacted hard enough to pulse the blue of hard light Dust used to keep it running, so unless stray attacks or trainees were launched into it, it would remain a silent protector of the masses viewing them for their pleasure.
To their left stretched dunes of sand, course and rough and irritating - broken only by the tall, thin spires of sandstone formations reaching out to the artificial sun above. Heat radiated off the ground in waves, enough to make the air shimmer - but that would change soon enough. The hot winds that were whistling past the spires were also gathering up the sand particles in their grasp and whipping them around. Not hard or abrasive enough to wear away at Aura, but certainly enough to prevent anyone inside from seeing properly, and get in the way enough that anyone fighting within would take penalties to their ability to hit opponents, which might be considered fairly important to take into account.
To their right sat a murky swamp - darker and damper than the desert immediately opposite, but only slightly less oppressive in the heat radiating from the ground. Reeds and marshland grasses protruded out of the ankle deep brackish water, along with stunted and twisted trees that grew outward rather than upward, ranging from twenty to twenty four meters tall with loops of strangling vines hanging from their branches. Bubbles floated up to burst on the murky surface, and filled the air with the stench of rotting mud, which wafted outward and over to the contestants.
At the furthest reaches of the Colosseum, immense holographic screens hung over the cheering crowds beneath. Their faces - and those of their opponents entering the arena directly across - were flashing across them now, the pictures they had taken for their student identification cards filling the screen for a few moments at a time along with their name and some basic statistics, before said picture moved to the right side of the screen, shrinking as it went, and an empty bar appeared next to it. Once all eight of the students had been allocated their spots on the screen, the names of the teams flashed once across before taking their places at the top of each team, and each bar filled with green, marking the level of Aura still present upon each trainee. MARS sat in bold black above Arno's stats, while the word MRLT settled in above their opponents' leader, a terrifyingly huge giant of a man who did not look anywhere near his young age and looked as though he had eaten nothing but red meat and drunk nothing but protein shakes since he was born. It was an unfamiliar face to those Haven students currently in the arena, but some of those watching knew him, and a ripple went through the crowd.
Said man was entering the arena directly opposite MARS, along with the other three members of his team. He carried a large shotgun that had a bladed attachment at the bottom, and wore little armor but strips of metal that banded about his arms and legs as well as large pauldrons mounted on his shoulders. Another was entering beside him, the military styled gear he wore giving him the illusion of bulk. Over his camouflage uniform the other wore a decently average looking armored vest akin to those used by Atlas soldiers, albeit colored to match his clothing, and a large rifle hung over his back. Evidently a ranged type, though much else could be discerned from this distance.
The Faunus entering on Willow's right was even taller and more broad shouldered than his leader. Large ram horns curved outwards from his skull, jutting out from his shaggy long dark red hair, and in his arms he carried a large circular shield and a huge axe that might have taken two hands to swing by any normal person, but was held as lightly as anyone else might hold a knife in the one. But it was the last member, trailing behind the three, that stood out the most, if only because she was so different from the others. Blonde and dressed in a tightly fitted blue suit that was lightly armored with pads of thicker material across her whole body, she was the shortest out of everyone by far, standing nearly two heads below the Faunus in front of her. The hands that grasped the staff she held were also clearly mechanical in nature, metal parts exposed and gleaming in the light from the artificial sun above.
Regardless of what preparations MARS might take towards their opponents, MRLT would beeline immediately for the swamp biome as soon as they finished taking stock of the situation. Their mouths moved as they did, clearly talking among themselves, but the distance and noise from the crowd made it impossible to make it out unless one was particularly well versed in lip reading - which none of MARS were. Never even approaching the blank octagon of the center of the arena, the man with the rifle and the blonde girl with the staff disappeared behind the trees of the swamp, while Mika and the Faunus took up positions nearby said trees, clearly falling into a battle plan that had been designed before even entering the arena that would allow them to fall back into the cover afforded by said trees if they were pressed from range..
Above them, the holographic screens flashed a countdown, starting from five and ticking down with every second. When it reached zero, a horn blasted into the air, and the words MATCH START flared across in bright red letters.

STEP ASIDE, RELOAD, TIME TO GO[break]
I CAN'T SEEM TO CONTROL ALL THIS RAGE THAT'S INSIDE ME
Well, here he was.[break] This was Vytal.[break][break]
There wasn't really much to be said about Amity Colosseum that hadn't been said by countless others already: it was huge, and impressive, and a technical marvel, and a symbol of peace, and... yeah, that sort of thing -- all of it was true, of course, but it was all so straight-forward and obvious that even with the boy himself attending, it seemed normal.[break][break]
Alexandros emerged, alongside his hastily-assembled teammates of Haven's Team MARS, proud and full of energy. Thrash was holstered at his hip as it so often was, meticulously and loving maintained the day prior to the beginning of the tournament in an effort to bring it to the best it could be; the poor thing's extractor had finally been 'fixed' to about a 95% success rate, and every other part of the revolver cleaned and touched-up wherever possible. Indeed, the boy's heirloom, as warped and punished by the stains of time as it was, was in the best shape of its life -- it deserved nothing less when the whole world could be watching, after all. Against his usual style, the young brawler sent himself out to spar not in a somehow-comfortable three layers, but one: Alex was without his white coat and dark button-up, opting only for a sleeveless dark undershirt and his otherwise typical slacks-and-boots combo. The only other noteworthy addition was a pouch of munitions strapped around his left thigh, right below the clip which held his gloves. It was an outfit at odds with itself on all fronts, and one perfectly representative of the aspiring hero wearing it.[break] His right hand -- gloveless for the moment, just as his left -- hovered near the handgun as the Skouriá boy moved ahead on long and confident strides with the others. Arno Mach, Ruqa Reyes, and Alice Stribolg -- all three of them were strangers, truthfully, but if nothing else they were sure to come out from this, win or lose, as a decent group of friends. The team had a keen inclination toward getting in close to really make things happen, with Arno and Alexandros himself being the only real options for a long-range engagement; even so, Thrash was nothing compared to that giant cannon-lance-thing their fearless leader called his weapon, meaning -- at best -- Alex was a skirmisher who'd be moving in and out throughout a fight.[break][break]
Glancing up at the countdown, frozen on a giant five as the last of the preparations were ending, the boy finally unclipped the dark gloves from the carabiner on his left side, effortlessly slipping one-then-the-other over each hand. Each was wonderfully light and breathable and as such afforded the brawler and gunslinger the necessary dexterity to do what he was here for. Sewn to the backs of both were sturdy, aged, and marred metal places, catching or throwing no light from the stadium other than the faint linings of each peak and valley of a scratch or dent on their face. The things had been through a lot, and showed no signs of slowing down or failing; they were a lot like Thrash, really, but that was hardly important. Then, only once he was 'ready' for whatever was about to come, Alex dragged his gaze down to the other side of the arena to his opponents.[break] "Blue's gotta go," Alexandros decided as intensity washed over him, half-suggesting and half-ordering, "call it a hunch." [break][break]
Then, through the roar of a cheering crowd, the countdown begun.[break] Five.[break] "Alright, boss," he said, looking over at Arno, "you and Ruqa should concentrate-"[break] Four.[break] "-on softening up their crew in the back. Ranged, or support, or whatever they end up being. Meanwhile, that'll leave-"[break] Three.[break] "Alice and I," he continued, pointing in a vague and indeterminate sense back and forth between his own team and theirs with his left hand, "so we need to move in and deal with the front."[break] Two.[break] Alexandros pulled himself back to a state of focus and looked over toward Alice with a nod, tightening his left hand to a fist. "It won't be easy, so we're looking at a- I dunno, 2v3? Maybe?"[break] One.[break] "It'll be fine."[break][break]
Team MRLT went straight off to the swampy part of the Amity Colosseum, two disappearing behind the murk and trees and the other two taking point as a front guard. It was a rudimentary plan, but one that was sure to prove effective enough for the moment or two leading up to the chaos proper. Blue and Camo had gone well out of sight, the latter even more than the former, leaving Huge and Horns to contend with. Alex could only assume the decision to immediately move as a group into the swamp was choice made out of necessity; the desert half wasn't going to offer much in the way of cover or protection for any of the eight trying to battle at range, and between the heat and wind it was bound to be a horribly annoying experience. Oh, and all the sand that was sure to be picked up and tossed about... it would get everywhere -- nobody liked that.[break] The young Skouriá stayed in position for a moment, then raised a fist skyward -- in his mind, the signal to take action -- and set off toward the 'enemy' targets in a steady jog, slipping Thrash up and out from its holster as he moved. Lining up a shot as best as he could on Horns, Alexandros slowed his charge for but an instant as he thumbed back the hammer and let fly the first of four shots, darting off again just as quickly as he'd steadied himself.[break][break]

Always remember to smile!
It was time at last to get this show on the road! Even before the announcements, before the roar of the crowds, before any of it, Alice was already vibrating with excitement. Never in her life did she think she would get to go to the Vytal festival let alone be on its center stage. It was enough to get a girl's heart pumping as the doors open and the wave of sounds hit her almost like a wall. It took everything she had to keep from running out at that moment to the middle of the platform and leaving her team behind. As the others walked forward Alice took a moment to take a deep breath to recompose herself. From here she watched the others, Alexandros, Ruqa and their leader Arno walk forward with a mix of feeling. Other then Arno she hasn't really gotten to know the others as this was more or less a last-second thing. Still, they pulled more than a few strategy sessions learning the strength and weaknesses of each other. As well as devise a plan that most would have seconded guess, but just crazy enough to work. Maybe.
Now composed Alice took up the rear of the group while sporting an ear to ear grin. Okay, so she couldn't hide all of her excitement as she walked with a hop to her step. Unlike her missions, Alice forwent her leather armor for a more casual look much like Alexandros having removed her normal jacket for a blue tank top tucked into a pair of black pants that had the wear and tears of a few years of use. Along with a pair of black fingerless gloves with matching combat boots, Alice was combat-ready and looking good. Her only stand out was how her long dark blue hair was braided back in a shield maiden style. It took far longer then she would have liked to do each time, but had to admit it was useful in keeping her hair from her eyes while well cleary showing all just what she was; a proud Faunus.
With Grimm's Bane laying over her shoulders Alice walked with a happy, yet clam expression with her team. That was until through a side glance she saw herself up on the grand screens as they panned over the teams. Without thinking or hesitation, Alice quickly looked toward the direction she guesses the camera was to face it as she began to wave furiously. It wasn't until she bumped into one of her teammates that she snapped back to it. Quick spinning around to face the other team across the middle still sporting the big dump smile. They were big, whale two was some real beefy boys, a tall boy and the last a girl that didn't quite fit in with the bunch. Glancing up at the big five in the sky Alice began to stretch as Alex spoke about the other team.
Nodding along she agree there was something about blue she wasn't too keen on. With the count down started she could feel her blood begin to boil as both teams watched the others. Ending her stretching Alice glance over toward Alex while flashing a smirk and wink. "Who da hell said any of this was going to be easy." Was all she had time to say as the match began with the roar of the crowd as Alice held for a second before launching forward toward team MRLT in a flash. She was honestly thankful they went toward the swamp and not the other side. The desert would have been a big disadvantage for someone who never even been to the beach let along a desert to fight on. However, blue and the other had already disappeared into the swamp leaving her with a bad taste in her mouth. She didn't like it but would have to trust in her teammates for that as right now she had her own job to do.
Twisting her ears back she could hear the gunfire from Alex as he fired at the Faunus making the other hers. Grinning again she tightens the grip on her spear as ran a straight line at first before slipping into a wild zig-zag pattern within fire meter of the man. The size difference was night and day between the two meaning she had to take this slow at first as her guess was she had speed and reach on the man. However, not being prepared for the unknown was the best way to get ya ass kicked. So to test the water Alice began her attack by thrusting out her spear in a three-prong attack. Striking out toward the man's knee, stomach, then head in a quick combo before hopping away. She needed to know just how fast this guy was before she could confidently engage.
Arno couldn't have been happier. Being the leader of a team and going into a fight? It was almost like Angel's of Flex come to life. Even before all the main tournament events began he was running in circles both literally and figuratively. His heart beat was skyrocketing. Was he nervous? Oh who wouldn't be? but he was more excited than anxious. He'd been practicing poses and phrases for days. He could only hope the audience-and his enemies to some degree- enjoyed what he was doing. In some way he believed them too. For today and today only he could live out his dream of being a hero. At least, this would be his only chance for a while. So when he emerged along with the last minute (though very well trained) members of MARS he couldn't help but grin. It was a wide smile but that was probably because he was attempting to compensate for his drum of a heart. He'd been working with his friends to create a strategy that might be something unexpected. It was pretty ridiculously crazy he had to agree but it was just crazy enough to slip through any predictions the opposing team might have for them.
As the group walked out, Arno took a position toward the front of the group Castellan Rampart lying on his shoulder. He'd changed clothes for the tournament. As a show of confidence he'd swapped out his regular blue jacket for a green one. That jacket was one of his lucky articles of clothing so to take it off meant he'd placed a great deal of faith in the team. Though he kept his bandanna locked squarely on his head. It wouldn't do for him to leave all his lucky clothing at home. After all, to quote Angel's of Flex episode 22 "We are the power we wear" He'd never abandon his bandanna for anything. As they walked closer to the opposing team Arno sized them all up. They seem to be mostly muscular types. One's he could test his mettle against! A perfect opportunity in his mind. Though, he still had some ideas for what to do while they waited. With a smile that could pierce the heaven's themselves plastered on his face he turned towards what he assumed was the closest camera and gave it the most HEROIC thumbs up he could manage. Which in his opinion was pretty darn heroic.
As the timer clicked closer down to the start Arno turned to his teammate and took stock of his opinion. As the plan stood, he'd require Ruqa to immobilize the ranged element. For the moment though, he hefted Castellan Rampart into a proper firing position and gave Alexandros the most motivating nod he could manage before yelling something to the team that he'd wanted to say ever since he was a boy. "My friends, we will assuredly triumph. For Justice!" Very heroic, thank you, thank you. The timer had finally gone to zero. The plan was in effect. He gave Ruqa a nod and began to move into a proper firing position nearer to the swamp, about twenty meters closer to be exact. Hefting such a large cannon wasn't a problem for Arno. What would be a problem is the lack of shells. He'd brought ten as he knew what was going to happen but once he was out he'd be charging in there himself. If he missed, he only had nine, then eight, then seven and on till he'd wasted it. If he had more on hand, he'd have gone for a scorched earth policy. He didn't have the time nor the finances, nor the time to worry. As he moved into a proper place Arno switched the lance to a proper firing mode. The Castellan Rampart's barrel revealed itself and Arno began to zero in on those he could see. If Ruqua got what needed to be done, done he'd have no problems. Otherwise, he'd have to be his own spotter. For the moment, he zeroed in on the large fellow with horns, risking one of ten shells to fire at him from a distance. If nothing else, it'd be an awfully large distraction. (701/701)
Last Edit: Apr 5, 2020 5:04:37 GMT -5 by Arno Mach
The siren blared, and the match commenced. Alexandros, Alice, and Arno moved forward to engage, the first two stepping past the featureless grey of the central arena to engage their opponents in the swamp, while Arno hung back to take aim and fire at his selected target from a distance. The shell streaked past the two taking the offense and slammed right into Engram just as Alex fired off a shot from Thrash that hit true, glancing off the shield of the bull Faunus in a shower of sparks before the smoke from the initial attack had cleared. A quick glance to the screen displaying their statuses showed that their combined attacks had taken more than a third out of the man's Aura - and yet, Engram himself seemed none the worse for the wear as he emerged out of the clearing smoke with a primal roar, charging straight at Alex with enough speed to close the distance between them in barely a second.
The bloodred axe the bull Faunus carried cleaved through the air with the full strength of his muscular arm behind it, and though Alexandros was quick enough on his feet to avoid the brunt of the blow, he was still unfortunate enough to catch the edge of the blow, which took a full third out of his Aura as he ducked away. If Engram had been just an inch closer, there was a very good chance that the smaller human might not have been able to get off so lightly. And yet lightly was perhaps the wrong word for it, as the gleam of metal from the swamp trees showed that Lucian had drawn a bead on him. The explosive report of a high caliber sniper rifle sounded, and a massive blow hit Alexandros for the second time, this time in full force to his chest. The power of the shot sent him staggering and left him with less than a quarter of his total Aura remaining, a precarious situation to be in within the first six seconds of the fight.
Alice had split off towards the other melee combatant, apparently trying to test his reaction speed before she committed to a fight. With agile swiftness, she was able to react to the gleam of a rifle barrel poking out from behind Mika, and danced away just as a shot flew past where she had been. Another explosive blast sounded, and this time she ducked, the bullet whizzing above her where her head had been as she closed into melee range, close enough that it ruffled her hair with the force of its passing. Her spear jabbed out once, twice, thrice, each slice taking away a little sliver of the green bar still present on the screens above - and then, as she was starting to bounce away, Mika suddenly shot forward with unprecedented speed and a loud roar, as though someone had lit a rocket engine behind him. The full strength of several hundred pounds of muscle smashed into the smaller and frailer girl, immediately bowling her over and sending her flying. Without her Semblance active, she was now standing at less than half of her Aura remaining. Better than her teammate's situation, perhaps, but not by much.
Things did not look good at all for team MARS. There was still no sign of the blonde woman dressed in blue, as she hadn't even peeked out from when she'd disappeared earlier, but there definitely seemed to be a lot more of the man with the sniper rifle than there was supposed to be. Someone's Semblance, no doubt - but his, or hers? Teleportation? Clones? Super speed? In any case, there was little time to think, given the dire straits they were in. With Engram advancing on Alexandros and Mika doing the same for Alice, and their third teammate still covering them from behind the tree but a few feet behind their backs, perhaps such considerations might be shelved for a better time. Arno had escaped unscathed due to the distance from which he'd fired upon their opponents, but despite his own not insignificant musculature, it was not very likely that his pristine form would be unmarred for much longer.
From all her experiences in life, this was a new one. While Ruqa was no stranger to being the center of attention, this was a whole new level. If felt like the entire world had their eyes on her, waiting for her to make a move. The noise of people cheering and jeering their little combat quartet with a single demand: entertain us; prove you are worth our attention. She'd be lying if it didn't make her heart race a little faster but she took it in stride. Let them look on in envy, Ruqa was going to make sure to make this match a good one.
The arena klaxons blared and nothing went according to plan.
Alex got swatted down right off the bat, only managing a few glancing blows to the horned giant before being shot right out of the air by the sniper from a distance.
Alice, that sweet looking girl, got absolutely demolished by a hammer swing. Ruqa winced as she saw the outcome, feeling as bad as though she recieved the blow herself.
While Arno and her were unscathed by the first round of attacks, they were going to lose their teammates if they stood by and do nothing.
Her eyes shot open, a rage building up in her? What was she doing? Was this stage fright? Ruqa Reyes feeling scared?
Ruqa Reyes was something to be scared of. Time to make them realize it.
Her semblance sparked on and she was off running with semblance enhanced speed and strength. She clenched her teeth as she followed up from behind Alex, who was still recovering.
Without stopping her momentum she gives him a cautious pat on the shoulder, silently indicating that he should switch out with her, and then she makes a beeline to the horned faunus. If Alex still decided to join her she would reposition to try and block anymore attacks on her boi.
Ruqa runs low to the ground with her arms swept open, like a bird of prey gathering momentum. When she got within killing distance she would use that momentum to leap onto the faunus and grapple them, intent on crushing them a contest of strength. She would grab the faunus by the horns and force their head up to the sky while committing to an brutal assault on the man's intestines with her remaining fists.
She trusted the other teammates whos names started with "A" to make their own team decisions.
Ruqa had some idea of what to expect from Arno and Alice in the next few seconds and would dodge accordingly.
The plan was back in action! As Ruqa sped off to immobilise their target, Arno loaded another shell into his cannon. Six artillery shells. He really should ask his father for an auto loader one of these days. With a grin he zoned himself back on Ruqa. It was happening. He was part of a team! He had a strategy and one that he was quite sure no one would be able to predict. He couldn’t help but yell out something he hoped was cool sounding. “Firing barrage for full effect!” Admittedly, it wasn’t the coolest sounding thing. Military speak wasn’t something he’d practiced much but it did sound decently scary at least to him. Now, for the plan. Arno would be Training his shot to hit right on top of her once Ruqa grappled the horned one. Once that happened, Arno would fire a full barrage of shots, aimed directly at the horned one. If he hit, he’d move to plan B and begin to charge in himself. It’d be a melee after that. He didn’t have the shells to keep up the ranged act and it might surprise the opposing team to see the man with a cannon charging directly at them. This was the plan. This was operation: Vibrant Blue. (213/ 914)

STEP ASIDE, RELOAD, TIME TO GO[break]
I CAN'T SEEM TO CONTROL ALL THIS RAGE THAT'S INSIDE ME
All at once, Alexandros felt the weight of Vytal come crashing up against him in the heat of the moment -- or maybe it was just the axe.[break] Built like a fortress, the horned Faunus came rushing forth and bringing force which rocked the fighter deep within his core; smoking gun still held dearly, the young Skouriá pulled his left away from the grip and stepped back with a slide, weaving back from as much as the axe's cleave as he could in so little time and desperately pushing up with the metal backing of his sinister side while his dexter fully pulled away. It was a move which did very little in the way of protecting him, but it had done more than nothing at all... not much more, but more all the same. As swiftly as it had sailed in and slammed ashore, the head of the axe glanced by and left only a sense of sudden and rather overwhelming dread.[break] This hasn't worked at all, he thought with eyes like fire, staring up at the bull towering over him and refusing to let the trade break his focused façade.[break][break]
No, the thing that broke his focus was the gunshot.[break][break]
From somewhere in the trees rising out of the bog, a round discharged and roared on the sound of thunder square to Alex's chest. His red-orange Aura manifested then flaked away like shattering glass, leaving no wound; in its place, exhaustion and anxiety started to press as things went from bad to worse. With no time to react, and no intention of standing his ground, the gunslinger loosened and felt himself give under the speed and energy of the bullet connecting, driving back in a stumble for a handful of paces. Steadying himself, taking hold of Thrash in both hands once more, the boy took a breath and mov- no, no, Alexandros calmed himself, and nodded, as Ruqa strode on by and, with a tap on the shoulder, took his place on the frontlines. Confident in his fellow fighters, the boy finally unfixed his attention from Horns and looked over to Alice and Huge, then briefly behind him to Arno; the plan hadn't exactly come together, but it was foolish to have expected anything less than chaos.[break] The boy nodded, again, more for his own peace of mind than anything else, and redirected all the anger and energy swelling up inside. With one last scan of the battlefield, working in reverse -- Arno, then Alice, then Ruqa -- to properly guide his own attention, Alexandros set off once more. With Thrash held tight, the young Skouriá split from Ruqa and Horns over to Alice and Huge and locked his amber gaze on the obfuscating environment the other side of the madness in the middle of the arena. Somewhere between the two points, another almighty sound echoed out; friendly this time, delivered from that trusty cannon-lance. Still moving, and still watching, Alex crossed from one part of the edge of the swamp to the other, pulling back the hammer of his revolver and shooting off another round where he knew Alice's target would still be. 'Injured' as he was, there'd be no use in staying put -- a not-quite-blind attack from a new angle had the potential to prove useful for the remainder of the fight, and if nothing else he'd be a suitable distraction for the mystery sniper.[break][break]
Still moving, and still watching, Alex continued to cross.[break] Take the shot, he mused, and tell us where you are.

Always remember to smile!
Ducking and whizzing were all that was on Alice's mind as she danced away from a sniper shot. Thankfully she had never stop watching the tree lines and that small action saved her from the same fate as her team, Alex. Having spotted a glimpse of something shiny for a split-second Alice had been able to avoid the first shot. Putin her training to the test by dancing around ever shots as she fought the bigger man. However, the last shot came far closer then she planned to throw her off balance allowing the man the opening he must have been waiting for. With a roar, he was in her face before she could recover! He was fast! Way to fast for his size! That was just cheating!
Once again she found herself in the other end of a fight that had caught her off guard. People were so much harder to read then Grimm's had been the number one thing she had to learn in her short time at Haven. A mistake she wasn't going to repeat she thought as she slammed the end of her spear into the ground to slow her, before spinning around it and landing with a loud thump far shorter than where she should have been sent flying. Her smile was now gone replaced with a flat stare while activating her semblance. She took a much needed second to regain herself while seeing what was happening around her.
Thankfully it seemed Ruqa had joined in the fight and was going thought with their plan. Hopefully, this will remove one of the enemies from the field to even things out a bit. She just prays Ruqa could handle what she had agreed too, as it was nothing short of a crazy plan. Speaking of the plans a wicked smirk quickly returned to her face as she heard the voice she been waiting for. “Firing barrage for full effect!” Was shouted from their team leader before the air was filled with the thumping of cannon shells. She had said in the past that she wanted to see that weapon in action, hasn't she?
"Good luck Ruqa" was all she said before sprinting back into the fight with a now much better idea of what she was dealing with. Now with her semblance, Alice steps had the weight of someone twice her size but lacked none of her speed or agility. Keeping low again Alice tries to put the man-body between her and the swamp in the hope that it might give her a bit of breathing room as she ran. She didn't have long until the boom came crashing down and if Arno was sticking to the plan then he was unloading everything onto them. Hoping to help in the plan Alice once again closed the distance with her target, however, this time she did not slow down as she jerked to the side before launching a very hostile attack aimed toward the big man knee, before spinning to slash at his head as she was running by.
Unlike before this was no poke or prodding to test the water, but a full-on attack with her enhance strength behind both She might have been a little piss from before. Still, she didn't slow down as she ran past running toward the swampland. With Alex running across with her running forward she wonders if the sniper could pass up the shot. She hoped he couldn't giving them the opening they needed to find him if he hasn't moved from his first shooting point which Alice was running toward. Hopefully, her attack on the man would distract or maybe even stun him long enough for the shelling. Not that she knew for sure if he was even in the blast range, but with Arno now joining in the melee she needed to put her speed to used by hunting. She didn't like that was a long ranger fighter out there trying to pick off her friends. Then there was the damn blue girl to deal with. It was just one thing after another.
The advent of Ruqa Reyes back into the fray to assist her teammates didn't go as well as one might expect from her confidence in approaching her opponents. While Arno loaded shells into his cannon, the four armed woman sped towards her beleaguered teammate to relieve him, and launched herself at the bull Faunus with no hesitation, attempting to grab onto his horns and deliver a reckoning of her own. However, due to the loss of fine motor control afforded to her by the very same Semblance, Engram was easily able to shake her off - not, however, before she got in a glancing blow to the side of his face, which dropped his Aura slightly. In that very same moment, however, Arno fired, and the cannon shell streaked across the space between them to smash directly into the two combatants without regard for friend or foe. The resultant explosion took a solid third off of Ruqa's Aura and sent her stumbling away, whereas it barely seemed to budge their enemy due to his female opponent taking the brunt of the blast, cloaking him in debris and smoke from the impact.
A feral bellow sounded out from the small cloud, along with a burst of energy that blew away the cloud surrounding their foe. Cloaked now in a bloodred energy that covered himself from head to toe, Engram's relentless charge brought him across the distance between him and Ruqa in the blink of an eye, the giant axe cleaving its way through the air. The woman was barely able to dodge the weapon's path, metal shrieking against metal as it scraped past one of her arms. The shock of the blow would travel up the limb and into her torso, though her Aura would keep her from taking any permanent damage. On the screens above them, Engram's Aura level started to climb, rising from below the halfway mark to above it. It seemed that his Semblance was finally in play, triggered by the combined assault of Ruqa and Arno in tandem.
Meanwhile, Alexandros fell back and looked for a way to contribute to the situation, deciding to back up his beleaguered Faunus teammate. The young man brought up his revolver and waited for his moment, crossing the edge of the swamp towards where she was fighting - and when the time came, took the shot. A single bullet spat forth from his gun and struck the form of the sniper peeking out. It was truly a display of marksmanship, which took out a solid chunk of the sniper's Aura. Unfortunately for Alexandros, he was not the only one with a good eye and a steady trigger finger. Another explosive report finalized his removal from combat, the round hitting him in the shoulder like a blow from an enraged bull Faunus. The remnants of his Aura flamed up around him, and then shattered - leaving him unharmed, but no longer able to participate in the rest of the match.
While all of that was going down, Alice took the opportunity to activate her Semblance before charging forward. Having already pinned down the location of the sniper, she decided to would be better to take out the man who'd been giving them so much trouble and sped past Mika, taking a swipe at him with her spear as she did so. With the increased strength from her Semblance, the blow struck true, taking a solid chunk out of Mika's Aura. Snarling, the mountain of a man turned to fire his shotgun at her, but the speed at which she was travelling meant that most of the pellets missed, with only a few shots out of a couple dozen hitting her in the back for far less damage than she would have taken were it a shot that had fully connected. The larger human gave chase, using his own Semblance to streak after her, leading with a shoulder the size of a ham. While she was agile enough to avoid the direct force of the blow, the wolf Faunus nevertheless took more damage as she rounded the large swamp tree and finally found the sniper's nest.
Nest was a more apt term than it would have been ordinarily. Lucian Salary was present, but more so than she might have expected - three nigh identical copies of the man were pressed up against the trunk, taking aim at her teammates - the only difference betwen them was the pattern of the splotchy camouflage on their vests. One of them was facing her way, but the shot went wide as she came into view. But what was of more interest was the blonde woman sitting among them, in a cross legged position and speaking into the the black microphone of the communications headset she wore, with a set of golden hieroglyphs floating in front of her closed eyes. Eyes that now snapped open in alarm, grabbing the staff next to her and firing off a red energy bolt that completely missed the incoming Alice.
It was at this very moment that a single shot spanged off of Lucian's Aura, causing it to flare a slight shade of green, and he fired off a single shot in return. Tekhelet shouted the name of her teammate, and he immediately snapped around, the sniper rifle in his hands transforming into an assault configuration. Two of the three clones already present didn't do so much as turn around, save for the one that had already been tracking Alice as she neared. Twin sprays of lead hammered down the wolf Faunus' Aura, leaving it flickering a light frost blue and on the verge of breaking.
Alice had found the source of MARS' troubles, and successfully disrupted the unseen coordination they had been receiving. However, with two foes focused on her, and a third rapidly closing in, with her Aura levels low, and the only teammate who could have helped her on short notice collapsed in the dirt, it didn't seem like her future was particularly bright at the moment. Meanwhile, Arno and Ruqa were facing down a very large and very angry bull Faunus, who was also armed with a very large and very painful looking axe and was glowing a very large and angry red.
No. This wasn't how the plan was supposed to go. No this wasn't right. Arno saw what had happened in shades of panicked red. It had all gone wrong and they'd lost someone. Ruqa was badly injured and Alice, his first friend was almost done as well. He knew it was a risk they all had to take but this wasn't how a hero's story was supposed to go. They were supposed to win, this wasn't in the script! There wasn't a loss planned this episode. All because of 𝘏𝘪𝘮. The horned one. Engram he believed was his name. He was the direct source of the problem. If he'd fallen, then this all wouldn't have happened. Alexandros wouldn't be out, Alice wouldn't be skirting aura break and Ruqua would've been less injured. 𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙪𝙡𝙩. Arno knew that. He was sure the others did too. For a brief second he could almost see his mentor, The Knight of Wind, Loog standing right beside him. Urging him forward. To do what he knew was right.
Arno wasn't one to get angry easily but for the first time today it dawned on him that he might lose and he could see exactly who was responsible for that thought right in front of him. A rage built up inside him. Not anger exactly, one more poetic than he might call it a desperate need for revenge. In his mind, he was simply 𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥. For once, he listened to his more base instincts and acted much unlike the heroes he wished to emulate. He reloaded his cannon with snap precision and readied his semblance. The next moves he made were planned in only the briefest sense. He'd charge Engram and attack him with his lance before switching to cannon mode and blowing him entirely away. Point blank. He knew the risks very well of course. Chances are he'd take damage in return. He didn't care. If this move was executed correctly, he'd then use his semblance to create a small shield of water near Alice to keep her safe until he could get there.
But before all that, he had to announce his challenge. He'd get closer to Ruqa and give her a nod to indicate he'd handle Engram before tightening his bandanna around his head. He'd need all the luck his heroes could give him for this. After that, it was time for something he'd actually rehearsed. He'd point forward, directly at Engram and bellow out his challenge. "𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢! Face me!" Let's hope his theatrics actually assisted him in his combat. And as he readied his charge he could almost hear his mentor in his ear. "𝘎𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰, 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦." (451/1365)

Ruqa's grip slipped on her hold on the faunus, and it soon dawned on her that this wasn't a contest of strength she could win. She was about to make a move before she was hit with a seering white pain across her back. She had just been hit by a motar shell which shattered into shrapnel against her form.
She winched, swaying from the impact but miraculously staying on her feet. Engram was surprised too but was able to take advantage of the confusion, swinging an axe in her direction. She caught the weapon blade first, diverting it from hitting the meat of her shoulder and pushing it aside but scratching up her hands in the process. If her hands weren't metal they would have been bleeding.
Her ears rung and her heart was panicing. She was about to tear him a new one before Arno came rushing in like a maniac and her eyes shot open as she saw him aiming. She dashed out of there before he blasted the faunus at point blank range, exploding Engram in a cloud of firepower.
"ARNO YOU FUCKTARD." Ruqa rages at her teammate, pained by having been caught in Arno's initial crossfire and only just having enough forewarning to avoid the other. "Damnit..." she was furious at him but honestly her anger wasn't completely justified, the cheese cannon stunt being one of her crazy plans in the first place, but they could talk it out later.
Maybe it was her desire to prove herself like she did on the Argus Limited, where she dealt with the enemy with unpredictable strategies and rash improvization. But this time it seemed her hubris caught up to her, potentially costing them the match. The others didn't deserve that.
She gave one last glare at Arno, simultaneously communicating that she was going to help Alice but also reminding Arno that she was still righteously pissed and they were gonna "talk" afterwards.
She dashed after Mika, surpising him and hopefully getting his attention of Alice for however short that might be. Then the man would start to feel the air get colder... much colder.
Her semblance started flashing shades of blue as she activated her secret weapon.
Fist-Full of Liquid Nitrogen
Frost grew over her metal parts at unnatural speeds, bringing down the temperature. A sure sign that ice dust had been activated. She used that ability to power her assault against Mika. With every hit landed, ice starts to cover her opponent. With every punch thrown, she intends to leave a bruise.
Today, the huntress-in-training with a heart of fire burns ice cold.
The damaging combination of her weapon, semblance, and ice dust skill was sure to take this guy down.
Ruqa didn't want to think about how Alice might fare in the few seconds afterward. It was a miracle the girl's aura was still up, with just a sliver of power left. Ruqa had done what she could but Alice was on her own to deal with the other two.
She distracts herself by focusing her attentions on beating Mika within an inch of his life. Always remember to smile!
Alice was tired. She was sore, bruised and even a little burnt from this fight despite how short it had been. Just making it to the swamp had been nothing short of a gauntlet run through a hail of bullets and pain. Even now her shoulders and back stung from the meathead attacks and hell he never even used his weapon! Alice clearly saw how her old way of training just wouldn't cut in this new world she gotten herself into. But that thought was for another day as Alice still had a job to do as she pushed herself onward.
She knew she didn't have much left to give while out even looking up at the screen. The fact she was even still standing was pure luck rather than skills, but she would like to think it was a good half and half. Gripping Grimm's Bane tight Alice didn't have a lot of time to think as she ran up to the sniper nest. She had been curious as to why all the shots had been coming from one spot, more or less, and not on the move. It seemed odd but she found her answer soon enough. Spotting the sniper first Alice was able to dodge the shot without breaking her run only to find not two people, but Four?!
That explains why it felt there was a team of snipers and not just the one. Annoyed Alice had only one goal in taking down the sniper, even if she had to go down with him, but which one was the real one? Thankfully the blonde would give her the answer as she stopped whatever she was doing and join in with some odd energy attack while shouting. Alice grin as she sidesteps the attack and ready to do the same for another rife shot as only one of the clones turned to face her. However, Alice was caught off guard as not one shot was fire but a spray. Catching the shots to the chest she felt the last of her aura flicker, but it didn't die!
With a painful grunt, Alice forced herself into the nest aiming right for the real sniper with the tip of her spear. With a heavy trust, Alice aimed to run the man through with her full semblance behind the attack. She was running on fumes at best and honestly didn't know how she wasn't passed out in the mud yet. With her attack done Alice was just about to resign herself to whatever was to come. That was until she heard the sound of running water? She watched confused for but a moment before she hopped back and rolled to the water wall for cover.
"Arno you beautiful fool!" She shouted as she spun her spear causing it to transform into it rife mode. While Alice wasn't close to a good shot she had to take any and all chance she could as she pop up and took aim. Bring her sights over the sniper she fires once before ducking back and bolting another rounds in. It was all she could do in the moment while trying to catch her breath. Win or lose Alice was in a desperate need of a very long nap.
Arno Mach rushed foward, heroic thoughts filling his mind - unfortunately, it seemed that heroic thoughts alone were not enough to ensure one's martial performance on the field. The cannonball sailed past Engram completely and slammed into the force field that surrounded the audience, causing a bright blue flash within before the fragments scattered onto the grey concrete that bordered the arena proper. Bellowing a challenge of his own, Arno shouted out Engram's name and successfully managed to draw the bull Faunus' attention, as he immediately turned towards the other man and lumbered into a charge.
A few meters away, Alice was facing down a three on one battle. Deciding that the sniper was the real threat, the wolf Faunus decided to do her best to run him through. The thrust of the spear was aimed directly at the man's chest, but quick thinking and reflexes as he rolled over meant that he brought his rifle up to block it just in time. Still, the force of the blow was enough to cause his Aura to flicker, a sign that it was about to break soon, and the clone that had been tracking Alice from the rear flickered and disappeared, Lucian no longer able to keep up the drain on his energy. However, just because he was lacking the use of his Semblance didn't mean that the sniper was helpless, and he brought his rifle up to return fire as a second bolt from his blond companion flew harmlessly past Alice.
With the increasingly dangerous conditions for Alice, Ruqa broke off her engagement with Engram and decided to rush over to assist her, leaving Arno to handle the bull Faunus by himself. With her Semblance activated, she was certainly able to cover the distance between them shortly, and Arno's successful holding of Engram's attention meant that he didn't even try to hit her or pursue in any fashion. This did not mean that her journey, however, was uneventful. The last of Lucian Salary's clones had not so much as batted an eye at the intrusion into their midst by the wolf Faunus, but it certainly reacted as Ruqa closed in. A shot split the air and smashed directly into the four armed woman's chest, taking almost all of her Aura with it. The screens above were quick to update with the change, leaving her with only a red sliver of Aura remaining where there had once been a full bar. Thrown off balance by the shots, Ruqa's initial attacks were a clear whiff, missing her intended target by a wide margin. One of her secondary arms did manage to nail a clean strike on Mika, dropping his Aura by more than half, just as Lucian's shots had done to her earlier, but she wasn't able to hit him with anything else.
It was at this moment that a small wall rose up from the brackish liquid that surrounded the combatants, a wall that Alice quickly danced behind. A few meters away, Arno was concentrating to the best of his ability, sacrificing a good amount of Aura for his teammate's safety. While he was distracted thusly, Engram bashed his shield into Arno's face and followed up with a heavy blow from his axe that slammed directly into the center of the man's body hard enough to send him tumbling a good few feet, dropping Arno's Aura from full to less than half in the span of a short second. Due to the distance and strength of Arno's Semblance - or lack thereof - the water wall was not particularly durable - any of Lucian's previous high caliber shots could have pierced it easily. Fortunately for Alice, Lucian was not using his weapon's sniper mode, and instead let off a burst of assault rifle fire that the water managed to slow enough that they did not damage the spear user taking cover behind said wall in the slightest. With expert precision, Alice transformed her weapon into it's ranged form and returned fire - the bullet flew across the space between her and Lucian, shattering his Aura in a burst of dull sage.
There was no time to celebrate, however. Tekhelet had gotten to her feet now, and pointed at the wolf Faunus with authority burning in her eyes and ringing in her voice. "Mika!" she cried, and the towering man mountain's eyes snapped to her as he avoided another blow from Ruqa. Without hesitation, he broke off the engagement just as his four armed foe had done to his Faunus team mate earlier, and engaged his Semblance. With a loud boom of displaced air, Mika Willow smashed directly through the water wall and into the Faunus behind it, slamming her into the tree that his ranged team mates had been sitting behind for most of the match - and, unfortunately for the sniper, he didn't have the chance to get out of the way. Like ice cracking, Alice's Aura glowed a bright blue-white and then shattered, falling away like snow. Lucian fared far worse, however, being sent sprawling face first into the muck as his last and final clone flickered and vanished. He would definitely be feeling those bruises in the morning.
After shattering Alice's Aura, Mika turned and immediately fired off a dual blast of shots from his shotgun, though they missed Ruqa completely due to the huge man having to reorient himself. While Ruqa was thusly distracted with her foe disengaging from her, however, Tekhelet ran up to the other woman and swung at her with the same staff that had been missing Alice so far, crying a shrill challenge as she did so. It was a weak blow, and probably wouldn't even have given one of Haven's most famous students any cause for pause under normal circumstances. However, that very same weak blow bouncing off Ruqa's muscled back was just enough to tip her overtaxed Aura past the point of no return. With a gentle sigh, it glowed a cobalt blue before shattering and putting Ruqa, at last, out of commission.

Ruqa fought Mika with every skill in her arsenal. Her already impressive weapons along with her new forbidden ice ninjitsu technique should have rocked him to the core.
It just wasn't as effective as she thought it would be.
The ice dust just slid off him, barely catching on long enough to do damage. She sunk a few punches in deep, knocking the man down to below 10% just through her weapons alone. But it wasn't enough to finish him off.
Reeling back from Ruqa's powerful punches the man broke off their short engagement and went after Alice. This man was just breaking her heart already, the coward. She wasn't expecting that move and made chase after him, determined to beat him senseless once she caught up to him. Except that Mika had gotten too much of a head start, running too far ahead. Mika burst into the scene and brute forced his way in, shoulder slamming Alice into the trunk of a tree, clipping his teammate in the process. But it was done. Alice... was dead.
Or out of the match at least.
Ruqa raged none the less and went after Mika to finish the job she had left off. But the blonde woman, Tekhelet, ran right in front of her and swung that dumbass staff of hers in Ruqa's direction. All of a sudden Ruqa wasn't fast enough to move out of the way. Later she might cite that the muddy land made her slip. But in reality her aura was already in the red and this was all that was needed to knock her to zero.
Ruqa slipped face first into the swamp water and slid a few feet forward before coming to a halt.
She was done. Her heart of huntress fire had betrayed her and burned a pitiful lukewarm.
