This fight was very different experience for everyone involved.
Brigit’s aura was shaved by another eleven percent due to the residual fire dust on her body down to fifty-five percent, but she was in complete control of the tempo. Her opponent couldn’t get away, and while her attempts to grapple were being fended off expertly for the moment, a couple of her kicks did get glancing blows while the enemy team leader was distracted with the grapple attempts up high that knocked his aura down eleven percent, bringing them damn close to equal until the blonde Aarbei managed to throw off a bearhug attempt a bit more forcefully than the last times and managed to get a combination of punches in. The first one was a glancing blow to Brigit’s chin that chipped off fifteen percent of her aura, lowering it down to forty percent, but every single other one was either dodged or redirected as she regained control of the fight by pressing forward and removing the small gap of space that Aarbei had carved out for himself.
The fighting between those two was by far the loudest in the arena, with both of them laying down full force punches that could smash through thin steel on each other’s auras and the environment around them when they were redirected or blocked or dodged, which meant that the crashing noises of impacts was very frequent. That matchup was less of a fight and more of a war, though long term prospects looked worse for Aarbei who was starting to breath noticeably heavier as opposed to Brigit who was barely even sweating at this point. If this lasted for much longer, Aarbei was going to get tired much faster than Brigit… and the former had shown no ability to actually land a solid enough hit to threaten breaking the aura of his opponent thus far aside from the initial blow when Brigit wasn’t bothering to dodge.
”You know, Thelly, this is what I enjoy the most about the Vytal Festival.
”What?”
”Watching hoss fights. Look at Aarbei and Brigit just getting in close and beating the absolute crap out of each other. Neither of them giving an inch, just blasting away with their fists until one or the other gets their aura broken. It’s the purest form of contest, where two parties just stand their ground and just beat the crap out of each other.”[/font
”Yeah. Brigit’s not far enough behind at this point for it to matter, and Aarbei is going to run out of gas pretty soon, it looks like.”
Just before the smoke began to settle and outlines could be made, Argent and Kishka both had a large wave of sand spread towards them and blocked their line of sight. The latter would be unable to move out of the way in time and while she wouldn’t take any damage, the wall of sand would block her ability to see and successfully stalled her. The former, however, would be able to zip to the side fast enough to get around the blind attack and successfully fire into the smoke with both his semblance and his weapon. His semblance, still safely in smoke, hit Cam in the torso and lowered his aura by thirty-six percent – down to twenty overall. The arrow that he shot right afterwards was a glancing blow that hit his opponent on the side of the head, lowering his aura by a further fifteen percent down to five overall. Cam tried to fire back with his pistols, but Argent even in the remaining smoke was able to effortlessly dodge around every shot without even a percent being lost to his aura.
”Looks like as the smoke cloud finally clears up, we have some more fighting at the fringes. A big burst of sand just appeared to engulf what looks to be Kishka, while Cam’s aura suddenly dropped to five percent due to some sort of projectile impact. Things are not looking good for Team ARCT here, and my hopes of my teammate being wrong on international television seem to be shrinking by the second.”
On the other end of the arena, teenage love was blossoming. Todd’s face fell when Holly said she couldn’t make plants and that was silly, but rose again when she said she could grow them. ”That’s still great, though! What were the vines, then, just seeds or what?”
With the next barrage of questions, though, the Atlas Academy student paused for a moment before replying. ”Traumatic… No, not really unless you count being hit in the face so hard in middle school with a kickball I passed out. That was pretty traumatic. Cages, no. I have never lived in a cage, nor do I plan to. That sounds really weird and not cool. My brothers and uncles are just fine, and no. I’ve never served in a war and have never been convicted of any crime – except for the crime of being the best high flier in Atlas.” The last part was bragging, but it was warranted in this case.
”I might not be able to grow anything, but check this out.” he would boast, before using his semblance to shoot them both up ten meters farther up in the air in the space of two seconds. ”Look at the crowd, they’re all so small and stuff from up here.” Clearly, his kite did not follow the normal rules of aerodynamics or any of known laws of aviation… much like a bee.
