The redhead was slowly waking up in bed, outside of the fighting. Vaguely remembering the last few moments of the fight as it transpired, all Rin truly knew was that she had hit the ground hard, face first. Trying to breathe through her nose, it sounded somewhat like she was snotty beyond belief. Yet it smelled more like metal and blood, her nose completely blocked. Gasping, she only got a breath of fresh air as her lips parted, gasping. Face was hurting something fierce. The world was blurry, spinning before her eyes, as she struggled not to throw up all over the place, looking around in somewhat of a panic. A voice, somewhere in the room, sounding worried, yet comforting. A prickly sensation on her forearm, a hand gently stroking her red hair. The pain was subsiding once again, disappearing. The blurr only increased, as the world once again unfocussed, like a lens slowly being dialled back, as Rin's eyes once again were swallowed by the darkness.
How many minutes passed, before she began coming to again? Probably half an hour, though frankly, Rin couldn't quite figure it out. For her, it had been like blinking a couple of times and the time of day suddenly warping forwards at astronomical speeds. Sniffing once or twice, the sensation of blood in her mouth and nose had completely disappeared. The nook that proved her nose was broken had been straightened. The wounds Rin had opened on herself to give her semblance something to work with, had been cleaned and healed up as well. Frankly, it was quite an astonishing piece of work. Half an hour ago, Rin had felt nothing but dizzyness, nausea and vertigo. At this point, all the redhead truly felt was exhaustion. Like she had been out working all night, hardly getting an hour of sleep. It was a far more pleasant coming to, than the one she had had initially.
In a hospital like bed, tucked in comfortably, Rin stretched her body. There were no one there, as the tournament was still ongoing outside. As Rin was mostly cleaned up, she was a moment away from getting out of bed, as a voice from elsewhere called out: "Do not even think about getting out of bed. You stay right there until I say otherwise." Startled, shocked, Rin just nodded in agreement, slumping back down in the bed with a newfound curiosity. How did whoever had ordered her to stay in bed know that she was awake, let alone on the way out of bed? It was almost scary.. Sighing softly, Rin looked towards the door leading out of the infirmary. It was currently open, beckoning people to leave or enter. Peering at it, Rin simply wished to see her teammates. To hear how the fighting had gone, whether they had won the round. To apologize for having done so horribly... Perhaps even catch up to the other team to.... apologize for the horrific display of her...
Oh god, everyone had seen her abhorrent, cursed semblance..

[attr="class","nikki109"]Hmm...[break][break]
She had debated not doing this. She had debated it for a long time, after the match was over. After scolding Amaretto for being sloppy, and unbecoming of a Huntsman in training, she was quite prepared to simply take her leave. There was little else to do, aside from greet whatever fans came to see her, so she didn't linger. But something stopped her from continuing her day without going to find the girl from the other team. The one with such an... Unusual semblance.[break][break]
She'd been terrified, for the brief few moments, encased in that sphere of hardened blood. But it was for that exact same, regrettable, embarrassing, reason, that she had to speak with Rin Hellebore at once. She told the rest of her team to wait in the room while she went to find her. Hopefully she would still be where she suspected she may have went...[break][break]
It was about an hour after their fight when Skye managed to find the time and motivation to make her way to the infirmary. She was hesitant, for a number of reasons, most of all because she had no idea how she was going to broach this topic.[break][break]
And it was already bad enough that her teammate had landed the girl in the infirmary to begin with! She felt utterly ridiculous, walking towards her room without something to give her. No gifts, no flowers, no chocolates- hell, not even a card expressing her apologies on behalf of Amaretto's behavior. It was annoying, and it was frustrating.[break][break]
She waited at the front desk for a moment before the winged young man filing away papers noticed her and allowed her access to Rin's room. [break][break]
Right about at the moment when Rin stared out into the open doorway, it would be filled, not with the friendly faces of Theia, Rose, or Arrats, but with Skye's seemingly permanent scowl, as if she were either very angry, or deep in thought.[break][break]
One of those was true.[break][break]
She didn't say anything at all as she stepped slowly into the room, staring back at Rin with no malice, only an impassive glare, with narrowed eyes, and furrowed ears atop her head. And in fact, she didn't say much at all for a solid few seconds, as she stopped towards the foot of the bed.[break][break]
Finally, with a small swallow, she spoke, her voice only slightly softer than it had been in combat, but no less blunt and commanding. "Rin Hellebore. That's your name, correct? How is your nose? I heard that my teammate had broken it during the fight."[break][break][break][break]

The door opened, revealing... quite possibly the last person Rin had expected to see. The last, final attack that Rin had fired in the battle before was perhaps the crowning piece of cruelty. It was meant to isolate Skye from the rest of her team, preventing her from making orders. Additionally, it was meant to keep her trapped while draining her aura rapidly by consistently squeezing the health out of her. It was not a pretty attack, nor did it contain any mercy. It was a move designed specifically to take the leader of the opposing team out as quickly as possible. To instill fear and discordance within the opponent team. To disorganize and rattle them. To make them unstable and emotional. It was not a technique that should have been invented by a Huntress. Instead, it was more a technique designed to killing. A technique designed by a cursed murderer. It was the pressure of being a burden to her team that had made her use it. The burden of tarnishing the family name as a pathetic weakling with no usages. Despite going all in, despite showing off this accursed semblance of hers, Rin had still hit the floor relatively quickly. Taken out as the opponent team panicked and focussed their fire exclusively on her, all in an attempt to free Skye from the imprisonment. Rin's gaze immediately dropped to staring down into the bed, as she straightened her back, sitting up. Knees lifted slightly, as if guarding herself from Skye. As if hiding away from the world in shame of what she was. Hiding away in shame of what she had done to the other girl.
"...The doctor is pretty skilled. All is f-fixed I'm just a little exhausted." Rin tried explaining, raising her knees a little higher and wrapping her arms around them, creating a fortified pillow-knee-arms wall between herself and the faunus girl. Rin could not tell what Skye's tone of voice held. Whether it was genuine worry, or an underlying resentment about to explode. This nervousness made Rin break the silence before Skye. Afterall, taking the blame before being shouted at, may make the shouting less severe. Internally, Rin's loathing was flaring up so severely that she was on the verge of tears. Tears because she had let her team down. Tears because she was tarnishing her family name. Tears because she was born cursed with such a disgusting semblance. Rin's heart quivered and quaked. At the surface level however, she seemed to be managing herself fairly okay. "N-not like I didn't deserve it, n-nor should you apologize! I-it was.." Rin swallowed, taking a short, quick breath to stabilize herself. "..It was entirely my fault for u-using such a d-dirty s-semblance... P-please accept m-my apologies! I b-beg of you forgiveness. I'm sorry." Rin almost slammed her head into her own knees attempting to bow her head in submission.
All the while, the short redhead remained stationry in bed. The purple eyes only having looked directly at Skye as the other girl entered the room. Now doing anything to avoid further contact. The atmosphere in the room was rather tense. Rin breathing faster and heavier, clearly on the edge of what she could manage, unaware of what Skye's purpose there was. The sheer fact that she was greeted by one from the opposing team immediately after the battle, rather than her team captain Erytheia Hellebore, or team members like Rose Phoenix, was enough to send series of nervous quakes through her system. Just spit out what you want already!!!

[attr="class","nikki101"]NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT'S LIKE
[break]
[attr="class","nikki102"]TO BE THE BAD MAN. TO BE THE SAD MAN
[break]
[attr="class","nikki109"]Ugh.[break][break]
She was a stutterer. Annoying. But not surprising.[break][break]
Sure, she'd seemed pretty damn bold in the arena, but that was combat, and that was different. The fact was, she gave off a sense, even then, of being timid- she ducked and weaved around a lot, but she did it without Nike's often borderline obnoxious playfulness. There was a sense of urgency to it, and with urgency, there was a feeling of fretting. Worry. Nerves. Only when she was Transformed, did any of that fade away, and even then, it clearly hadn't lasted long- the way she'd looked when her first attack hadn't immediately connected and dealt damage made it utterly apparent that even in her bolder, less risk-averse, state, she still got caught up in her own head far more than any better fighter would.[break][break]
It was annoying. Annoying, and expected.[break][break]
As was her shriveling, pitiful, cowering. Did she think she was being subtle? There was nothing subtle in the least about how she pulled her legs up, putting a pointed-knee wall between her and the girl she had just nearly crushed not much more than an hour ago. The way she averted eye contact, the way she was desperately trying to make her tiny form even smaller. [break][break]
Pitiful. Pathetic.[break][break]
Just like the spineless drivel that came flying out of her mouth, as if she had any reason to say any of it. Skye's face stayed resolute and unwavering, to her credit, but before Rin even finished her apology, she was cut off by a curt, firm command from the feline faunus. "Shut up."[break][break]
She paused, just a moment, and took a breath, before continuing, in a slightly softer tone of voice. "Shut up. Don't apologize to me. It was a fight. I don't hold anything against you for what you did there. And I didn't come to apologize for your injuries."[break][break]
She stepped closer, pulling aside the little chair by the bedside, intended for visitors, and setting it where she could face Rin, eye to eye, as impassive, piercing, blue met quaking, nerve-wracked violet.[break][break]
"Put your legs down. That is no way for a Huntress to behave." She snapped at Rin the way an older sister would command her younger sibling- stern, but not cruel. And then her tone softened again- she was trying to make an effort here, at least. It was hard, seeing how absolutely spineless Rin was trying so hard to be.[break][break]
She cleared her throat, before continuing. "I am going to tell you a story. But before I do, there is some context that you should bear in mind. You likely know all of these things already; you did just refer to your semblance as dirty, after all." There was a hint of anger, or spite, in her voice as she punctuated the word 'dirty.' But there was little time to dwell on that as she pressed on. "Today, thousands, tens of thousands, of people witnessed your semblance. They saw your Transformation, just as I did. They watched. And they judged you for it. All of them. My teammates included- a beast. That was the word he used, yes?" Apart from practically spitting out the word 'beast,' her voice was calm and level as she spoke. Matter-of-fact, and not pulling any punches with her description of the other girl's ability.[break][break]
"I have no doubt in my mind that you believe your semblance to be disgusting. A curse. Nobody who is proud of their gift apologizes for it, or calls it dirty."[break][break]
She lingered again, on that same word, eyes like waves crashing back and forth in a storm.[break][break]
"Would you believe me if I told you that I once felt the same?" She closed her eyes, letting those words sink in. Words that she'd never heard from anyone else before- it was the reason she felt compelled to seek Rin out. Her hunch had been correct. And now, although nobody had been able to relate to her, she was hoping that the younger Hellebore might be able to learn from her wisdom.[break][break]
After a moment or two, she opened her eyes again and continued speaking, steadily, and with no real shift in her tone or stern facial expression. "I discovered my semblance when I was ten. I don't remember exactly what caused it, but I couldn't control it very well. Not with the precision I have now. My hair just started growing one day."[break][break]
"All of it." She extended her arm, and as she did, the thin wisps of hair, barely visible on her forearm, stretched and grew, coating the segment of the limb in thick matted patches, as unnatural as they were snowy white.[break][break]
And then, as swiftly as they'd grown, they retracted, until her arm was as ordinary as any other's. "I was ostracized. None of my classmates would go near me. None of them. People called me horrible names. They were cruel, because I was different. I hated my semblance. I hated it, because I could do nothing about it. I never asked for it. Never wanted it. The world is cruel. It doesn't care what you want."[break][break]
She stared at Rin. Which wasn't so much a new action, as she'd been staring at Rin since she'd entered the room. But now it was a different kind of gaze. One not of assessment, but of contemplation. "Is that how you feel? I imagine it must be. My semblance made people uncomfortable, and labelled me a freak, until I could get it under control. But yours. Yours is something else entirely. I pity you, Rin Hellebore. But my pity is not worth anything at all, next to the insults and cruelties that I am sure you've faced. That you've subjected yourself to."[break][break]
"So I ask you, Rin. What do you intend to do about your condition? About your semblance?" She finished speaking, and simply waited, expectantly, for the redhead's answer.[break][break]
There was just something about her that had had Skye perplexed, since that moment in their fight. Hearing the reactions of the crowds...From Amaretto... It had made her unexpectedly angry. But nothing made her angrier than the idea that Rin was simply accepting the scorn and hatred inflicted on her by those who could never understand the way that she felt.[break][break]
There was a piece of Skye, that she had long since outgrown. And that piece of her was reflected in Rin's face- too quick to apologize for simply being herself.[break][break]

The very minute that the fight had finished, Rose dashed straight for the infirmary to see Rin. Unfortunately she was stopped by the receptionist who had curtly informed the panicked blonde that Rin was still being taken care of and no visitors were allowed at the time. She felt utterly defeated and emotionally charged at the same time...completely unsure of what she would do in the meantime. The girl lifted her armpit and sniffed it, immediately grimacing at the smell.
"Wouldn't do to walk in looking and smelling awful..." She murmured.
She retreated back to the dorm, however Rose then thought about stopping off at the vendors to pick up a gift for Rin...but what would she like? Along the way, deep in thought, Rose passed a small side alley when she heard an odd high pitched sound. She raised her brow curiously at the noise and cautiously took a step into the dark, following it with a sense of alert about her. It was coming from a box...and upon closer inspection, it was a small black cat. All alone and mewing for someone. Anyone.
Rose crouched down near the box and tilted her head at the lone abandoned cat, reaching inside to pick the feline up and hold him up to eye level. The two stared for a moment...
"Meow!" They both exclaimed at the same time! With that understanding, Rose took Kitty back to her dorm where she got undressed and started a bath where she cleaned both herself and Kitty. Though he was a bit fussy, he ultimately was very cooperative to the normally violent woman. Perhaps both feral beings had a mutual understanding for one another?
She soon climbed out, drying Kitty off and getting changed. However, she chose a clean shirt and denim jeans this time around, checking herself over in the mirror before throwing on her jacket as she headed out the door with her companion nestled in her arms. As the two approached the infirmary, Rose opened the hem of her shirt.
"Hop in, Kitty. We're gonna smuggle ya in."
He gave her a questioning cat tilt of the head, which made Rose huff and help the small cat climb inside of her shirt. Only a small little black fur head was seen popping out of her shirt under the neck as she walked past the reception desk and toward Rin's room.
"Going to see my friend. I know the way!" Followed by a "Meow!"
The receptionist did a ridiculous double take, but by the time he looked up at her...Rose was already on her way to Rin's room.
Yet, as she came near the open door, she heard voices. It was Rin, sounding defeated and upset, while the other was...the leader of SATN. Rose kept quiet near the door and listened in to the conversation with an ever growing snarl spreading across her face. Rose was visibly starting to shake with anger building up inside at the way Skye spoke to Rin and finally could not tolerate hesitating any further!
Rosalia Phoenix stomped her way into the room and confronted Skye, face mere inches from the Faunus as she growled furiously.
"First off, don't you ever...and I mean EVER tell Rin what to do! Who the hell do you think you are? Coming in here when she's recovering and deciding to lecture her like this!"
"MROW!" From her shirt.
"You tell her Kitty! But I ain't done! Rin is downright amazing and only apologized because she scared you shitless. She's beautiful inside and out. Calling it a condition like it's a fucking disease instead of a badass power...you're damn pathetic."
Rose turned her back on Skye then. She had someone more important to see, after all, and approached Rin's bedside with the warmest and gentlest of smiles on her face. Just then, Kitty leaped out of Rose's shirt and landed nimbly onto Rin's lap with a playful 'Meow!'
"Hey, I wanted to come sooner but the stiffs wouldn't let me. I found this little guy all alone and figured...um maybe he can keep you company on nights and days when yer feeling lonely?"
Rose scratched her nose slightly and then sat down on the bed, feeling her body shake once again. Though this time it wasn't from anger, but a longing. She reached out to gently hold Rin's hand and brought it up to kiss softly.
"I was so worried..."
Her voice was low. Gentle. It held a tremble to it that made Rose seem even smaller than usual. Her emerald eyes glistened with tears that threatened to pour out at any time, despite Skye's presence.

Shut up.
Rin immediately froze, as if someone had just splashed a bowl of icecold water in her face. A deer caught in the headlights, as her gaze dropped to the blanket. Tugging it slightly over herself, it was odd how someone could feel so comfortable physically; The softness of the hospital bed, the warmth of the blanket, the slightly exhausted yet comfortable feeling spreading through her body, plus the simple acknowledgement and awareness that, right now, Rin was not sick or anything. At the opposite end of the spectrum however, Rin was about as uncomfortable mentally as one could get. The opponent was standing here, in her room, telling her to shut up. Beginning to unload onto the redhead, Rin lowered the walls of her knees, propping up her back against the wall and raising a pillow. Kind of like a confused puppy without anywhere to turn to. The words hammered into her insecurities one by one, as her fingers twitched. What Rin heard, versus what Skye said, had a few disconnects. Staying positive and honest towards herself in these circumstances weren't easy. Thousands saw your transformation and thought you a beast. Even my team did. It kept barreling into her, punch for punch, as Skye seemed to almost lodge down Rin's own train of thoughts. Or the thoughts Alra had placed into her mind. Cursed, disgusting beast. A semblance unfit to be a huntress.
Though, something soon shifted, as Skye's demeanor in the perception of Rin changed. Rather than standing around telling Rin how things ought to be, how things most definitely were, plus how Rin was meant to behave or act, Skye had stepped down to instead speak of her own life. Speaking of how her own semblance had impacted her life negatively. In the back of her mind, a voice was pointing out how natural it ought to have been for faunus beasts to be covered in fur. Something natural about beasts being feared or loathed, afterall they weren't civilized. Thats what had been lodged into her mind. There were so many differences between herself and a...
The voices of her own thoughts began running amok in her head in a sickening cacophony of realizations, as her own acceptance and understanding came crashing together. Noises glitching and shifting as she rose a hand to her head, quivering. Alra had consistently filled Rin's beliefs that she was cursed, a wretch, the reason for her mothers death. There were others who had called her a devil, monster, disgusting for the semblance she carried. Still others that had called her a feral beast. The purple eyes widened, as she came face to face with her own discordance. With the duality of her existance.
Out there, thousands are thinking of you as a beast, because you looked like one. Because your skillsets are that of a beast. Because your semblance is cursed.
Panting, pausing, it seemed that Rin was visibly getting exhausted. The emotions surging through her body like a rampant hurricane, as her thoughts struggled to reorganize themselves. Things that were wrong, things that were right, thrown into a flux of proportions she could no longer control. Fingers were digging into her hair, tugging and pulling. Nails scratching into her cheek, leaving long red lines. The pain assisted in letting off some steam. The pain was a friend that prevented her thoughts from drowning out her sanity. The pain was a friend.
Even so, Skye had not let up. Instead, stating a question that was already in the natural catastrophy running amok inside the redhead's mind. What are you going to do about your condition. Rin's eyes went blank, the shaking ceased, the scratching ceased. Just as the bomb planted inside her mind was about to explode, Rose barged in thrrough the door. Oddly adding a chaotic element to the mix that the redhead felt much more comfortable dealing with. Blinking a few times, Rin took a deep desperate breath, gasping for air as if she had been drowning.
Rin was replacing all of the identity destroying questions with the appearance of Rose. Where did the blonde get a kitten?... What on earth was she currently doing?... Why was she there?... Questions that were simpler to relate to. Questions that allowed Rin to quietly organize the other more destructive questions into a sealed off box that would only be touched little by little when she was in a better state. Both physically and mentally.
"...Hey Rose... Sorry for the mess out there.. I did not mean to worry you." Was all that she was able to muster to reply with. The purple eyes slid to Rose's bosom, peering at the cat. "...You got me a kitten?" Rin reached out with her index finger, gently stroking the kitten over the head, booping it's nose and getting it familiar with her scent.

She didn't flinch as Rose barged her way into the room to start screaming in her face. As far as she was concerned, she had the right to; it was her teammate, after all, and from what she could gather, there was perhaps an even closer bond shared by the two of them. She didn't even bother trying to interrupt her, simply staring down at the smaller woman as she yelled her head off.[break][break]
At least the cat was cute. And, to an extent, so were these two girls, and their interactions. Like something in one of her favorite manga, even. [break][break]
Once Rose was done, she responded in a level tone. "You misunderstand. I wasn't telling her to do anything, simply offering advice, as someone who could relate- and I wasn't insinuating her abilities are a disease. Maybe if you'd been paying attention, you'd have noticed I agree with you." But it seemed Rose had already turned away, and Rin's focus was back on the blonde again. It didn't matter, really. She'd said most of what she'd needed to say, anyways.[break][break]
The rest was in Rin's hands.[break][break]
She wasn't nearly so tactless as to interrupt what seemed to be a private moment between the two, either. Besides, now that she was done recovering, herself, she had other things to do.[break][break]
Like bludgeon Amaretto within an inch of his life, for his horrible behavior.[break][break]

Rose narrowed her eyes coldly at Skye as the leader of SATN let herself out. There was nothing more to say and Rose didn't want to push the issue. Maybe someday they would meet again...but that wouldn't be for quite some time. Besides, her attention was purely on Rin now that they were alone in the infirmary. She smiled widely at Kitty getting love from Rin and very gently popped the feline out of her shirt to set onto the bed. Rose picked up the remote for the television in the upper corner of the room and turned it on...the station was airing the recent fight between SATN and HARP.
"Yeah, this is Kitty! I don't know if it's a boy or girl, but I figured you could name 'em and...well Kitty seemed lonely, you know? Maybe you two can make each other happy."
She scooched herself closer to Rin, arm bumping the redhead's shoulder. She was real and she was alive. Rin was safe and okay. Being alone with her, Rose finally felt safe enough to let go. To stop holding back and let the tears welling up to flow freely down her cheeks.
"Gods above Rin...you had me so damn fucking worried! My heart broke seeing you like that a-and I...I j-just...I couldn't. I couldn't imagine life without you."
"Mrow!" Roared Kitty, pawing at Rin's arm attentively.
Rose lunged, wrapping her arms tightly around the girl and cried like a child into her neck as she nuzzled against her gingerly. Her body shook with her bawling, feeling her heart ache and swell in both pain and bliss. In the background, the fight was playing out and Rose couldn't believe the amount of...what? What was it that she was feeling? Was this real or just a dream?
Her emerald eyes glistened with fresh tears as she refused to let Rin go. She had suddenly become speechless and just wanted to stay there like this with her...her...
"I love her, you know? I love her so much that it hurts...so please, Arrats. One last attack from us to finish this Slingslut once and for all. What do you say? Fast ball special?"
The words she had spoken during the match echoed from the tv, resonating within her heart and in her soul. Love...she loves...
"Rin." She breathed through ragged breaths and pulled her face back so that her jade eyes could stare deeply...longingly into those beautiful amethysts.
"I love you. More than anything or anyone. Rin Hellebore, I am deeply in love with you. Don't you ever leave me like that again."
Her fingers slid in between Rin's and Rose held her hand tightly as tears plopped down onto their skin.
