[attr="class","nikki109"]Shadecloak was dressed in her usual dress slacks, white dress shirt, and black vest. For her part, the faunus looked as bored as ever with her green eyes having the appearance of being rather disinterested like this was going to be some meeting about what color the school was going to be painted or something. Her hands were in her pockets, and she had gotten the trainees out at eight in the morning to one of the training facilities with a makeshift wood and stone setup that was much more relevant in the aftermath of the Haven Attack. This was the last day of classes before Vytal started, and while she wanted something active, she was fine making it less active than most of her homeroom workouts in the interest of nobody blaming her for being sore as fuck during the festival. [break][break]
She had always had a bit of an issue with the emphasis placed on combat skill, and thankfully this past semester those concerns were starting to be heard by the administration. There was zero point of having trainees who could kill well and nothing else, and the deficiency became grossly apparent when she helped Colton prepare for his licensing exam. He was more than ready in terms of combat ability but had never been taught how to properly apply his own semblance in situations that were not combat related. A good chunk of the very necessary missions that these teenagers would undertake over the next year or two would be primarily humanitarian in nature, and whenever there was a Grimm attack there were always people in need of help or evacuation. Training in these sorts of things was necessary, and she could at least start peppering them in there after the Vytal Festival. [break][break]
”Morning, Class Green! We got something a bit different for you today. Something a little bit closer to one of my actual specialties than usual – rescue. You’ll notice the giant line of mannequins behind me, and something else you’ll notice is that a bunch of them are different sizes. I used your lifting scores to determine what would be kind of difficult but doable for you to carry around, so you’ll be picking up the one with your name on it. For each course, your mannequin is your own personal best friend and it is your job to ensure that no harm comes to them.” [break][break]
Directly behind the faunus, there was a number of temporary wooden walls set up into four distinct courses. They were all straight lines and on the other end was a line of mannequins designed to be carried through the course. It wasn't anything difficult or fancy, largely due to time and budget constraints. If she had it her way, they’d already have a giant training facility for this type of shit but she made do with what she had. Everything was either wood or stone, because those were the materials available for construction. [break][break]
”I’m going to demonstrate on one, so you know how to carry it. Those of you who have had rescue operations in combat school will hopefully be familiar with this kind of thing.” [break][break]
The mannequin that Shadecloak approached was standing in an upright position and facing towards her. The mannequins in the first course were lined up the same way. Each mannequin was adult sized but with a weight that was going to be approximately eighty percent of what a student could comfortably lift up. Anyone who was in her class for more than a few days knew damned well that ‘kind of difficult’ tended to mean absurdly difficult and some of the vastly heavier mannequins demonstrated that quite clearly. Physically stronger trainees were not going to have an easier time, because the difficulty was just scaled to suit their strength so that everyone had to pay attention and work up a sweat and hate their lives. [break][break]
"I'll start with the demonstration of the lifting technique. It is useful for carrying those that are bigger than yourself, which is going to be most civilians because let’s face it desk workers aren’t exactly weight watching these days." She stepped over to the mannequin and stood directly in front of it. ”"First, place your dominant leg between the person’s feet." She said as she moved her right foot between the mannequin's feet. "For the lift you want most of the weight to be on your dominant leg, in this case my right." She then brought the mannequin's right arm over around her neck as she started to squat a bit. "You will then duck your head under their arm and shoulder area in preparation for the lift. You use your other hand to grab around the area of their knees to lift them up to your shoulders and back." She proceeded to hoist the mannequin off its feet and balance the mannequin on her shoulders. Her hands were placed on the back of the mannequin's knees and their wrist to keep them balanced on position. "And with this position, I want you to take them through the first course on the far end. Success in each of these stages is going to be dependent on you taking your buddy through the course and your buddy being uninjured. Semblances are not only allowed, but encouraged with the only other rule being not to destroy the environment." [break][break]
With these instructions done, Shadecloak allowed the students to go to the first end of the first course after setting down the mannequin back to its starting position. A line of mannequins was set up beyond the white line clearly marked ‘Start’ in white spray paint and each student got their own. They had to carry their own personal mannequin in the position they were shown through the entire course and then place the mannequins back down safely. Each mannequin had the name of the trainee assigned to it marked across their chest, so that someone couldn’t just steal another mannequin that was lighter and call it their own. [break][break]
The course itself was simple, with most of the difficulty being the weight of the mannequin. It started with about six meters of wide open space so that the students could make room for each other and get adjusted to the weight of the mannequin. The next part was a winding section of walls the trainees had to move through. They had to move back and forth through the walls, which meant they couldn't proceed in a straight line. The third section was an upward inclining ramp that led to downward stairs. It was meant to simulate having to move through an inclined area or down a set of stairs in a rush. And in the final section, there were two stone walls the students had to get through. The first wall required them trainees to duck underneath it with the mannequin in hand while the other required the trainees to find a way over the wall. The first wall gave about a meter of room to duck under while the second wall they had to go over was one meter tall. If they messed up or damaged the mannequin, Shadecloak would have them restart from the beginning until they completed the course safely. Nobody who knew her for more than a few days thought she was shy about critical feedback, so she was more than willing to force someone back to the starting line if necessary. [break][break]

This thread will consist of four rounds, one for each post. If your character has a simple question to ask, assume Shadecloak gives them an answer. The next post will be directions and instructions for the second course, so unless you wish for your character to lag behind everyone else try to complete this course in one post. Any OOC questions can run through Discord. The next Shadecloak post is in roughly ten days. If you want to have side threads with extended conversations, you are free to make your own thread but this ain’t it. There is no posting order, just a single post between Shadecloak posts.
