[attr="class","RDcontainer"] [attr="class","RDcontent"] Three weeks.[break] [break] Holly had been in the sewers, underground, without going top side, for three weeks.[break] [break] She didn't dare to even have a peek. Then again, she had been thoroughly occupied with getting her little project going. Hobo Hub... Bum-Burgh... Whatever she decided her little Haven for the Homeless to be named! Hmm...Homeless Haven? Nah. You wouldn't want to give those topsider the satisfaction to be associated in even the smallest way with this new community. Even if they will never know we are there.[break] [break] The first week was the worst. Holly didn't knew anyone, had to fight her way into finding a niche into this new ecosystem. She slept hugged around a cactus shaped more like a baseball bat, and went around the tunnels to get supplies of those who already lived there. She first tried asking for stuff. While, after the initial confrontation when she arrived. Holly had hoped that was going to be a one-off thing. Didn't work. So, she had to act a thief and thug, just getting by. Holly discovered pretty quickly that there are more people living down in the sewers under the Wind District. People with stuff.[break] [break] Those she found were scattered, decentralized. Living in dwellings more often than not just some cardboard boxes or tarps. More concerned with not being noticed than anything else. Hard to call them even gangs. Maybe...bands? They didn't really called themselves anything, when Holly clobbered them or got their stuff for her own. No cool names. No tats. Kinda lame if you were going to live in this place and not make the most out of it. She managed to accrue quite a bit of a hoard of stuff. Sure, it were the belongings of bums, but when you have nothing, those cans of beans and disgusting discount soda tasted like a four-course meal. [break] [break] Somewhere during the second week, something happened. When she woke up one morning...midday...time...time is weird under the surface. Anyway, when she woke up she heard a commotion out of Fort Forlorn. It was how Holly called her little dwelling. It was kinda sweet. She had used her first cactus and had made a few very big one that she had laid diagonally and horizontally across in the sewer pipe to provide somewhat of a barricade. Anyway, someone had actually crawled under it to meet with 'The Intruder'. She needed another name eventually...[break] [break] He wanted to join her, and had brought a lot of goodies as he signed up.[break] [break] From that point on, things started to take off slowly.[break] [break] They had found a spot. They had started to steadily get other people to join. It wasn't anything concrete yet, but there were plans in Holly's head. But one of the things she required for those plans, was a scroll. One of the things none of her...subjects...had gotten her. [break] [break] So...Holly needed to get one from the surface world. [break] [break] ...[break] [break] A manhole cover slightly stirred in Memorial Park at around 11 pm. Before anyone could have thought that it was just their imagination, the cover slid off and a shape caught out. The Hobo-Intel was spot on. Best exit in the sewers if you wanted a quiet place in the park to get out. It was a surface access that was out of the way of any major pathways, and not near any major meeting point or notable location of the park. There weren't any streetlights, even. Most likely the reason why they put the access there. [break] [break] What was near, however, was one of the natural rivers they made in the park.[break] [break] We will not describe how awful Holly looked. It was bad. Like, kittens will cry from the stench and ducks will throw up just by looking at it. Holly knew she had a mission, but it was the dead of night. After first drinking from the river till she think she would burst, she swam and washed her dress as best she could. It was cold, even with her aura making sure she didn't die or suffered frostbite. She had a second set of clothing that she decided to wear. They were the best set she could make from the offering of the homeless. They were perfect for what was needed, but it was honestly a step Holly never expected to make. Yes, she had less trouble with taking over the sewers than for putting on this garment.[break] [break] Pants.[break] [break] [break] [break] Holly looked now like just your normal poor hoodlum. Kinda like Nasrin, to be honest. Though with more limbs. After putting on her disguise, Holly stayed near the river as she tried to familiarize the spot so she could find it again. Looking more or less like a punk with little else to do. Well, save for her bracers that seemed to be made almost from cacti that she grew hollow and put over her arms. Weird fashion choice, right? |
