Putting the cig on his lips, Wolf drew a deep breath before letting it go with a relaxed sigh. Fully resting his body weight on the lamp post behind him, he drew another breath as his eyes settled on the bar across the street.
"The Heaven's Gate" it was called.
He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped past his lips. Why did every building that sells alcohol has that necessity to name themselves as a place leading to good, even with what alcohol was capable of doing to a person's health?
He took a final breath of his cig, before dropping it to the ground and extinguishing it with his foot. Maybe he was being a hell of a hypocrite right now. But he couldn't care less. This was his mind. And he could be whatever he wanted on his mind.
And even then, nicotine doesn't cause car crashes. Doesn't causes inebriated fights, murders, and a wholly another set of crimes. If anything, it's only crime was being expensive as hell.
Why was he even trying to justify it to himself?
Pondering for a sec the possibility of smoking another one before starting to work, a quick look at his wristwatch quickly killed the idea.
"Goddamit," he said, straightening up while cleaning his suit. And once he was satisfied, he muttered "Well, time to work." and made his way to the building.
Once he stepped inside, he did a quick survey. The bar was empty, save for one or two patrons silently drinking beer on their tables. This worked wonderfully for him, the least people to keep the one he was looking for distracted the best.
He wouldn't want to have his business proposal cut short by someone requesting a refill or something.
Ah, speaking of the devil.
His eyes finally settled on the person he was looking for. It was a petite girl standing behind the bar, currently entertaining herself by cleaning a mug with a bored expression on her face.
The last time Wolf wanted to drink something, he had been too far away from his apartment to actually bother and go drink on it. Thus, his eyes had naturally wandered to the nearest bar he found.
He had expected it to be a shady as fuck place, dirtier than most of the Ground District combined and having people bearing at least two gang tattoos.
But instead, as soon as he walked in that time, a feeling of warmth and coziness immediately enveloped him... A sense of... familiarity he hadn't feel in a long while.
And you wouldn't imagine his surprise when, after claiming a table for himself and ordering a beer, the lights of the bar suddenly dimmed. And a spotlight suddenly focused on a petite girl holding a microphone.
He expected anything but being awestruck.
He cannot even remember what the girl was actually singing about. But what he does remember how her voice bulldozed her way into his very soul and made him feel emotions he thought he had lost the ability to feel.
It would never shame him to admit he shed a tear that day.
And after she finished singing, Wolf knew right then and there that she had to be on the group he was forming. But, sadly enough, he wasn't carrying his business cards at the time. And there was no way in hell he would dare go up to the girl with info he couldn't back up at the moment.
Getting the police called on him because of that again wasn't on his plans for the day.
And so, he had returned to the bar. Now fully ready to talk business.
Making his way to the bar, he sat down in one of the stools and rose his hand to call the girl's attention.
"Good evening," he started, straightening his back. "Give me a beer, the cheapest one you have."
After she completed his order, he would place one of his business cards on the bar and look at the girl with a smile. "Well, Miss, sorry for coming out of the blue, but I must confess I'm not only here for a drink," Stopping to clear his throat, he took a sip of his drink before continuing.
"A couple days ago I happened to stumble upon this establishment and so would it be that I had the pleasure of being present to hear you sing," softening his smile, he slid the business card in her direction.
"I'm currently forming a group of idols, Miss. And I would love the honor of having you onboard." WC:750/750

It was a Wednesday, which meant that business would be slow tonight. Though she was okay with that, considering how the weekend always picked up with customers. It was usually when Hinata would take an hour or so of her time to sing for anyone who would show...which was a surprising amount! The Heaven's Gate was indeed nothing special and served pretty basic drinks and Vesper's momma cooked up some okay food, but patrons flocked to see the Angel of Heaven's Gate whenever she closed shop to perform.
She smiled casually to herself as she rubbed a washcloth inside of a large glass mug, humming happily and keeping an over watch of the few patrons in the common room.
"Is Carla coming to pick you up, Tony?"
The girl inquired of her nearby regular and the man smiled with a small wave, his face tinged red from alcohol. "Yep, mah dearie girl shoood be 'ere nee mom'nt. Thanksh Hina!"
The girl giggled and nodded to him, wetting a small towel in the sink to wipe the bar down when an older man took a seat on one of the stools. Hinata immediately perked up and opened the cooler to snatch a generic brand beer bottle by the neck. She pressed her waist against the railing of the bar and slid professionally toward him and flourished her hand out to create a small bottle opener out of the ceiling spotlight.
The top popped off and spun in the air as Hinata twirled around, plopping the bottle down with one hand and catching the top with the other. She winked innocently and cutely to him with a small chuckle.
"One nondescript beer, yes siree bob! Hee hee!"
She was about to start up small talk with the man, not particularly recognizing him before. Perhaps he was new around here and she could help him out in some way? Hinata blinked at him though as he let her know his intentions. To be honest, it kind of weirded her out but she rested her elbow on the bar and heard him out.
There were lots of guys who complimented her on her singing, though they were usually either regulars or creeps looking to get in her pants. But this man was neither of those, which piqued her curiosity. He slid a card toward her which the brunette snapped up to examine.
"Damien Wolf? That is you, ara? I must admit that I have not heard of you before, so if I could see some references to your previous works...that would be much appreciated."
Still...a group? An idol group of all things? What did that entail, she wondered. The way he pitched this sounded like he was recruiting for an initiative of sorts and Damien looked genuinely serious. Hinata was typically a good judge of character, but...this was some heavy stuff!
"Are there other members in this group? Or am I the first that you have sought out, Mr. Wolf?"
Her amber eyes pierced his with just as much conviction. While he was being friendly, Hinata was being dead serious. This was suddenly all business and her tone changed from that of a happy go lucky derpy girl to one with a level head. If this were some sort of scam, then Hinata would not hesitate to boot him out faster than you could say 'holy moly!' But...she couldn't take the chance that he was a legitimate talent seeker, so the girl leaned in closer to give Damien the chance to pitch his offer.
Feeling the change in demeanor, Wolf allowed him a quick, satisfied smile. First step is done. She was open to the idea.
Grabbing his beer, he took a little sip before wincing internally. To be completely honest, it tasted like watered-down gasoline. 'The price of going cheap,' He thought, taking another sip. Pointing at the card with his free hand, he took another sip before explaining.
"Feel free to Scroll the company name on the other side of the card, Miss..." He waited for her name before continuing. "The company web site should have all of my credentials for you to read. Plus a number that will answer any inquiry or doubt you may have," Another sip. "Only available during office hours, though."
Reaching into a pocket of his suit, Wolf stopped the second he grabbed what he was looking for. Quickly looking around for it, he couldn't find the sign that either allowed it or forbade it. So, wanting to play it safe, he asked the member of staff in front of him.
"It's allowed to smoke in here?"
If she said yes, he would flick one of his cigarettes out and light it up after placing it on her lips. And, after taking a breath, would sigh with contentedness. While also being careful enough to not blow the smoke away in her direction.
If she said no, well, not much he could do besides sigh and take his hands away from the package.
Regardless of what answer he got, he would grab the beer and take another sip.
"You're the first one to be contacted, Miss. I'm seeking to fill the most important positions first to at least have a semblance of a group to present my superiors."
Finishing the beer, he quickly asked for another one and continued after taking a sip from the new one.
"The position I'm currently seeking to fill out would be the lead vocalist for the group," Another puff to his cig if he was allowed to smoke. Being as careful as he could to shoot the smoke away from her. "And that's where you come in, Miss. I would like to offer that position to you. Oh, and please, call me Wolf." WC: 371/1,121

The girl gripped the card delicately between her thumb and forefinger, turning it over once and then back again in detailed scrutiny. One eye was closed cutely and she was so focused on it that her tongue stuck out a little.
"So I see. Hm, you do seem to be quite professional and I admire how straightforward you are, Mr. Wolf. Typically I deal with very unsavory men, but I appreciate your candor."
Hinata beamed a smile at him, changing her mood slightly to be more uplifting and positive once more. When he reached into his pocket to withdraw his pack of cigarettes, Hinata frowned at it in silent stern judgement but kept her voice level.
"No, you may smoke in here. It is a bar, after all. However, I would prefer that you not."
She set the card down on the counter in front of Damien and moved with more purpose towards the chill cooler. As she bent down to retrieve another bottle for him, her brows furrowed in deep thought.
Lead vocalist...me? And the first to be signed, no less. This could either be good or bad, depending on how this is swung. Then again, momma did tell me to shoot for the stars and this could possibly be my chance...no risk no reward.
She returned with the beer in hand, plopping it down with a thud on top of the card as if it were a coaster. The girl offered a polite smile as he took a sip and then took the beer back to down a gulp of her own before slamming it down with a wide smirk.
"Okay, Wolf. You have yourself a singer! However, I have one condition! Depending on the group size, all members that you may find go through me as well. Also, I have some talent that I wish to offer up for recruitment if you are willing to audition."
Leaning over the bar with a determined grin, fire lit in her amber eyes. Her hand extended out to his, ready to accept his proposal.
He was slightly disappointed over the fact that he couldn't smoke, but well, he wasn't going to be the prick that smoked near people that didn't like it. Taking his hands off his package, he instead focused on his beer and hearing what the girl had to say.
And he couldn't help the small smile that appeared on the corners of his lips. But it quickly died as soon as his mind shifted to business mode. Grasping her hand, it looked like he was about to shake it, but instead, he placed it on the table before quickly withdrawing his hand.
"Please not get ahead of ourselves, Miss. Any agreement we make now is merely verbal and has no legal power. I'm glad you accepted, I really am, but there are procedures for this."
Taking a new card from his suit, considering the previous one had been ruined with the beer bottle frost, he placed it on the table for her. "Go to the address in two weeks at 9 in the morning for the review of the contract. We'll have a notary present so we can firm it immediately if we can reach an agreement. Oh, and feel free to call at any time if you wish a copy of the contract to read it yourself."
Finishing his own beer, he stood up as he placed Lien down on the table, far more than a tip would've required, alongside a card with the legal symbol on it and a number. "And get yourself a lawyer. A good one. You will need it in this world."
"And regarding what talent you may recommend, first let's way for how the contract talks go, shall we? It was a pleasure meeting you, have a good day."
Fixing his suit, he bowed slightly before departing the building. His purpose to be there complete.
Walking with a cig on his lips, Wolf could only hope the talks went through. If she could bring talent at least a fraction of how good she was. He was confident the group they formed would actually be strong enough to survive it's first months and maybe even make it big.
If not... well... he could only pray.
And he wasn't even a religious man. WC: 354/1,475

So everything seemed to be in order, eh? It felt kind of weird that he set her hand down in that matter, as if she were being patronized and it didn't feel to great honestly. A frown appeared on her face from the excitement that was killed by business, but Hinata understood where Wolf was coming from.
She picked the newly withdrawn card and slipped it into her skirt pocket with ease and nodded her understanding to the man. The girl understood basic legal terms from watching television and listening in on the contract deals that her Momma made, so hopefully she could ask about a lawyer when the topic was brought up. Perhaps she was getting ahead of herself with this, but there was already someone that Hinata had in mind to join the group and there was no way that she was going to let that certain girl escape her grasp. Group sizes tended to vary from place to place, but roughly 4 or 5 members would do the trick right? Hopefully Wolf had some people in mind and had enough business experience to sort out expenses and all of the behind the scenes nonsense. It was definitely not a strong suit in Hinata!
"Good day, Mister Wolf. I will be seeing you soon, I trust. Until then, be well. In the meantime, I am going to get that talent needed for this group, just you wait and see!"
As he walked away towards the bar's exit, Hinata waved politely to him and once again went about her bartender duties to attend with the patrons. Although now there was more of a spring in her step. Throughout the night, when she would have some down time, Hinata would pull the card out and just stare at it...thinking of all the dreams that she would accomplish and wonder to herself what kinds of talented people that she would be working with.
"Here is to the future...a bright and shining one hopefully!"
