She made sure to be dressed appropriately and have showered before even looking at the note that her beloved Midnight had sent her. Whatever it was for, she would have no issue saying no. Gods she was beautiful and she knew where to go. Packing her bags to make sure she had everything she needed before leaving. Glasses on and cap over her horns so she could pass as a human, even at the age of 20 she had fully filled out her clothes, leaving many eyes glued to her hips and bust whenever she was walking to any destination. She was in Kuchinashi for the reason to learn how to flaunt her works even more, and this is how she came across Midnight, the entrancing black panther faunus. Strange that the cow faunus was attracted to it but don't judge. Unfolding the note, it was a bit cryptic and read "I need a favor, come to the club ASAP." Thank god she was moving in that direction already, but what on earth did she need me for?
At the club, she looked up the windows above the raunchy club, sighing slightly before entering and passing through, getting stopped at the stairs by a bouncer before being allowed to pass. Aladriel was becoming more and more frequent at the club, and had worked a few nights here too. Climbing the stairs, she knocked on the door to the apartment in question before opening it up and calling out. "Midnight! I'm here! What did you need?" Kicking off her shoes, she moved further into the apartment before being ambushed from behind by the woman in question, hugging her. "Heya Aly, I don't have long but can you please, please, please babysit Vesper for tonight here?" Aladriel gave a blank look before smiling lightly and nodding. "Of course, how come you can't bring her with you this time?" "I'm working at Yuki's tonight, and you know full well what happens there." She gave an "Ohhhhh" face before nodding and hugging her back. "You can count on me, go smash it." Midnight gave a smile and a cheek kisss before slipping out of the apartment, briefly returned for a moment. "There is food already in the oven, almost done, and when she needs to go to bed tell her a story. It can be about anything, really. And... Aly... Take care of my girl. She means the world to me. Kinda like another beautiful Faunus I know~" Aladriel nodded a gave a light smile. "I will take care of her like she was my own, you never know, could be a reality someday~" And with that, Midnight slipped away, and Aladriel turned and moved into the living room, smiling to the cute Vesper.
"Mater has gone to work cutie, so I'll be making sure you look extra beautiful tonight!.. I hope I don't mess this up..." She started off confidently before mumbling to herself. It was the first time she was left alone with Vesper since her mother and her began dating. This hopefully wasn't awkward... Word Count: 513/513

Vesper was seated on the couch in the living room as she saw her mom prepare, walking through the apartment. The bat was sipping some juice, but could give enough of a care to slightly kick the coffee-table with her feet. Mom didn't notice. She was too busy with getting her shoes on. Vesper kicked the table again, with this time her mom noticing. She pointed towards the surface while speaking. "Keys." Her mom gave a smile. "I knew they were there, honey." Vesper sipped her juice. "Sure..." Midnight picked up the keys and placed them in her handbag before she ruffled her daughter's hair. "Be kind to Aly, alright? You always tell me how much you like her! You even called her moomo-" Vesper managed to free her head from her mother's dotting and she protested the motherly affection. "I did not!" She uttered, placing down her cup. "I never called her that! I said she was likeable! Not the same!"
Before her daughter could protest even more, Midnight's ear twitched as she seemed to pick up Aladriel coming up the stairs even before Vesper did. Mom always had better ears. She gave a final "I love you." towards her daughter before she quietly and sneakingly went to stand besides the door leading towards the hallway. She raised her finger to her mouth to signal Vesper that she needed to be quiet for the little ambush she seemed to have planned.
Vesper just took a sip from her cup, not wanting to be associated with such an embarrassing mom.
Mom ambushed Aly just as the cow Faunus was about to enter the living room. After the hug, she slightly dragged her 'friend-from-work' back into the small hallway again as they exchanged their sweet words. Vesper just looked at her cup for a moment.
She would need to get more juice soon.
Vesper stood up from the couch and was half-way towards the kitchen, before the door to the hallway opened again and Aladriel entered. The bat was wearing a single long purple shirt that reached till about her knees, most likely belonging to her mom or someone else. It looked incredibly comfy though. Her wings were large compared to her height. While the pint-sized Faunus would reach just till Aladriel's waist, her wings were just about as large as her body. She stood in silent as she listened to Aly, before she took another sip from her cup that was now really empty.
"I am already pretty." Vesper said, wanted to try and appear as mature as she could now that they were alone. With only a moment of hesitation, she offered their guest a drink. "I am getting some juice. You want something for yourself?"
Vesper walked towards the small kitchen area, being attached to the living room. The oven was on and inside of it a lasagne was already heating up. The counter was a mess though, most likely from making previously mentioned lasagne. The cute bat opened the fridge for Aladriel to look inside. Despite what someone would expect, it was filled with mostly fruits and healthy enough food. Maybe some questionable cheese, and certainly over-the-date ham, but otherwise there wasn't any questionably inside of it. There were multiple kinds of fruit juice in the door. Vesper liked that stuff. A lot.
Looking at Aly, if the Cow hadn't picked a juice to drink quickly, she would also offer an alternative. "I...also know where mom keeps the booze. Would you like that?" She asked sweetly, honestly wanted her babysitter to have a good time tonight. With a good reason.
Unaware to Aladriel, Vesper and her mom had a discussion the other day. Vesper was very adamant about the fact that she didn't need a babysitter. She was 10! No 10 year old needs someone to take care of them! They argued for a bit till the two of them had reached a compromise.
If Aladriel was convinced that Vesper could take care of herself, they would forgo a babysitter.
This was the first time the cow Faunus would babysit, but the bat already had a few over the years. She didn't liked many of them. They were either grumpy and said that Vesper needed to stay in her room, or they treated her like a baby! Aladriel was nice, but she would just be like one of the others in the end! Vesper didn't needed anyone to look after her! She could take care of herself! Mom didn't needed to pay anyone to take care of her!
Vesper wanted to prove that today, and she was going to do whatever she could to try and persuade Aly that she was a mature bat for her age!

Just the entire outfit of Vesper was adorable, and she recognised the shirt. Very nice choice, although she had to admit it looked better on Midnight. The offer for a drink was made and she gave a light smile and a nod. "I would love a drink, and dinner is already smelling goooood. Your mater is a good cook that's for sure." She ruffled the girls hair as she followed into the small and messy kitchen. Instinctively, she went about cleaning up the prep mess, making sure dishes were ready to wash up for later once they had eaten the lasange. Whilst she cleaned, she peered over to the girl by the fridge, seeing the wild assortment of juices and other produce within the shelves. Some good choices, she should stay more for sure. But the offer of booze came second, and her eyes lit up for a moment. "Booze you say? Grab some cherry and blackcurrent juice, then we'll see what's in the booze cupboard."
When Vesper led her to the stash of alcohol, she started frisking through the choices, humming lightly to herself before looking back at Midnight. "Your mater taught you how to mix drinks right? I think I overheard that a few weeks ago but I can't remember, care to show me? If not I can do it, but I'd like a drink made by you, adds charm~" She gave a cute wink, reaching and kissing one of her ears lightly. She always did this to many people, usually the cheek for greetings, and the head for affection.
Whilst she let Vesper decide, she began working on setting up the small kitchen table before pausing and turning to Vesper. "Can you grab some trays if we have some as well? We'll eat and maybe play a few games, better on the floor anyway, it's how I usually eat." Aladriel was determined to give Vesper a good time, and to make a good impression. If she was given approval by Vesper, maybe she could move in or something. That would be bliss. Popping open the oven after grabbing the mitts, she pulled the dish with the lasange in before hip-bumping the oven door closed and began to dish up the beautifully smelling food, grabbing the cutlery out of the drawers and adding some additions to the top, namely cheese and some herbs to garnish the dish. She had learnt a thing or two from her own mater about cooking, and dish toppings / garnishes was one of them. Words: 413/928

"I made the food."
It was a mostly blatant lie.
Vesper knew it. Considering how good it smelled, Aladriel should honestly know it too. Whoever thought about it for two seconds would have guessed it.
The ten year old didn't thought that Aladriel would know it. She wasn't there when it was made. She could have made the good smelling food and impress Aly and not require a babysitter! It wasn't even fully untrue! Vesper helped with grating the cheese and mom allowed Vesper to preheat the oven! Those were at least some of the most important steps!
As the cow Faunus was busy with the dishes, Vesper got the right juices out of the fridge. Even if she maybe couldn't cook, she did knew her way around the fridge. After placing down the correct juice containers on the kitchen counter, she walked over towards the liquor cabinet more situated in the living room.
The living room didn't had a TV. TV's were kinda new, certainly out of the capital, and the mother and daughter hadn't exactly upgraded yet. Part of it were the costs, and part of it was Midnight thinking there was little on it even if there was a show. Only some local broadcast and most of it was... not child friendly. They did had a radio, however, and indeed a lot of board games.
Having arrived at the liquor cabinet, Vesper opened it and showed the bottles to Aladriel. Responding to the comment that Vesper could mix drinks, she give a firm nod. "Yes, I can make you something! You want whiskey, rum, or something else?"
While she sounded confident, internally, she was panicking! She endured it, even though she didn't like it. While, she liked it, but she knew that she shouldn't! She wanted to be an adult! And adults don't get their hair ruffled and their ears kissed even though it felt nice and happy! Also, she was panicking too much to enjoy the attention!
Mom had shown Vesper to mix drinks, sure. She could do it! Only... she hadn't made one all on her own before. Mom always told her how much she needed to put in the glass! Well, this was going to be a trail by fire! She would take whatever bottle Aladriel said she wanted, and even without screwing that up. She walked over towards the kitchen counter again, placing the liquor next to the fruit juices. She looked at them for a moment, hoping that there was somewhere on the labels how much you needed to pour into a glass to get a mix drink.
There wasn't.
She kept staring at the bottle and containers, before Aladriel asked for trays. Sure! That isn't mixing drinks! Without even starting to mix the drink for her 'guest' she looked up at the cupboards above the kitchen counter. The trays were all the way up. Her mom could barely reach them herself, and Vesper had no chance.
Unless she flew up.
Something she was expressly told not to do by her mom inside the house.
Ever.
She broke a vase last time.
Not actually wanting to break one of her mom's rules... she asked Aladriel for help.
"They are... Mom placed them too high up for me. They are on the cupboards in the kitchen!"
There. Blame mom. Not my fault.
As Aladriel would grab the trays, she would also still see Vesper looking at the different ingredients for her mix drink. She pouted, and seemed to consider if she should just go for it and try something out, or ask for help. She clutched her tiny fists as she struggled and got frustrated. Eventually, she looked up at Aly again, even turing around towards her and looking towards her feet as she spoke.
"I... would you make your own drink? If I can watch, I can make sure that I know how you want it! Then I can do it right for you!"

Vesper made it huh? Question now was whether to induldge her by saying that her cooking was great or not. She kept the smirk to herself as she continued prepping the garnishes and plates to eat from. She would address that when the time came after dinner, now though was to prep it. Whilst Vesper sorted the juices out, she grabbed the required utensils to serve the lasange, and my word it was delicious smelling, looking and after giving it a taste, it was good. She addiced some herbs and more cheese to the top before dishing them to the plates. "Umm, drinkwise get me... rum for this one." She would call over, and then grab the trays from the cupboard up above.
Once it was all plated and ready, she turned to Vesper who asked for Aladriel to make it first so she could learn. "Of course, so grab the juices first and fill up about... half, so a quarter cherry and quarter blackcurrent, then top it with rum." She would talk as she performed the process, before using a small toothpick she found in the drawers to stir it in slightly, then giving it a whiff before smiling. "Perfect! I call that Aladriel's De-Stresser." Giving a wink, she would take both trays into the living room, placing them on the floor before retrieving cutlery and her drink.
"What's it like living above the club then Vesper? Don't think we've ever talked about it really." Mainly because you're too busy trying to get off with Midnight at any moment possible. It was a fair question though, as Aly lived a few blocks down the road in a pretty shitty apartment herself. "As well, we could play a few games after dinner, any ideas for that Vesp?" She would speak between mouthfuls, being polite and curtious. She didn't want to be the slob she is at home infront is Vesper, and definitely didn't want to mess up her beloveds home too. Taking a sip of her drink, her face contorted like she had just eaten a lemon before she relaxed again. "It's been too long since my last night relaxing..." Words: 360/1288

As far as Vesper was concerned, Aly was fully falling for the little lies. She didn't call Vesper out on them, so there was only the option that she believed them. She followed the steps that Aladriel was doing to make her drink, and the bat tried to memorize it as best as she could. For herself she got a glass of cold grape juice. Vesper pretended it was wine in her head. Wine is made of grapes. She read that in a magazine! "I call this the... Vesper surprise!" The bat said after filling her own glass, before looking at Aly. "The surprise is the grape flavour!"
Following Aly back to the living room, Vesper looked at Aly sitting on the floor. The bat was smart and took a pillow from the couch to lay it down so she could easily reach the coffee table. Before she sat down however, she took another pillow and offered it to the cow Faunus. "Do you want one?" If she took it, Vesper would smile. If she would refuse, Vesper would still smile and place the pillow back on the couch were it belonged.
Sitting down, Vesper would look at Aly and not touch her own food before the other Faunus did so. She answered the question as earnest as she could. "It is... I don't know. This is home." Vesper said, playing with her food a bit with her fork. "Gets boring though. I like being in the clubs more. Helping the girls. Some of them let me do their hair."
Vesper liked to do hair. She was good at that.
Aly proposed playing games. Games were for kids, so Vesper couldn't do that. She needed to be adults. Adults talk. Looking at the cow, Vesper took another bite of the lasagne before answering with half her mouth full. "You... like my mom right? She likes you. Talks about you. If you want... can we talk about that?" Romance was adult!
The bat Faunus tried to imitate Aly after she took her drink, even trying to make the same face the older woman did though Vesper didn't really knew why she made it. If drinking rum made you do that, why would you even want to drink it? Still, if she did it, Vesper did it. After her drink, Vesper went on the offensive with a question herself. "So... why do you like my mom?" 404 words; 1845 Thread Total

The Vesper surprise eh? She must have a taste before the night was up. The small one entertained the idea that her grape juice was wine, and she was definitely a smart kid to know that as well. Wine is made from grapes, that was right. However, Aladriel was more of the spirit and mead girl. Honey instead of grapes, gave it a more distinct and interesting taste. She was a big fan of it after all... The offer of the pillow was accepted, and she took the pillow from Vesper with a smile and a "Thank you." Placing it under her rear, it was definitely more comfortable whilst she ate her dinner.
The response to her question was met with nods and hums of agreement. "The clubs definitely are more fun, and they let you do their hair? Maybe I should have you do mine next time I come to work. Gives me some more time to sort other things out before my shift as well." She gave a warm smile before taking another bite of her meal and a swig of her drink.
Mid-swig, she heard the statement and sort of spluttered lightly, coughing and covering her mouth as she tried to recover her embarrassment. "Me like your mom? Talks about me? I mean.. I'm not that talkable, nothing s-special... but we can talk about that. And yes.. I do like your mom." She began to go red in the face before the next hard hitting question came round. God damnit Vesper, what're you trying to do tonight huh? Was it interrogation night or something, god damn.
She gave a few thoughts for a moment, eyes looking down at her plate before she looked up to Vesper with an awkward, embarrassed smile. "Your mater is beautiful, she's taught me tonnes since I came to the city, and helped me grow as well. She's got great intentions, she's funny, she seems so... free and carefree. Moves with the grace of a cat. I don't know what else to say, besides like..." She would look away for a moment, covering her face. "She's my first serious relationship.. I just love her, a lot." Vesper got a few drips of spittle on her as Aly seemed to have trouble drinking. The bat took a sip from her own grape juice to show how well she could drink without any problem to assert dominance. Proving that she was being adult was easier than Vesper thought at first. Normally children are embarrassed and parents are not. If she could stay as cool as a cucumber right now, she could succeed in her mission.
The more Vesper heard Aladriel talk, the more things fell into place for the little bat. Taking polite bites from her food, without holding her cutlery correctly but that was hard. After Aly said that she loved mom a lot, Vesper gave a response again. "So, she is like a mom to you too? She teaches you stuff, and you love her. She also loves you." Nodding her head, Vesper stood up and walked over towards Aly. Which was like, two steps but it is the effort in the moment that counted.
Sitting down on her knees in front of Aly, the little bat Faunus looked at Aly. "Do you love my mom like I love her, or do you like my mom like my dad liked her?" When Aladriel responded that the answer was both, and that she loved her mom both platonically and romantically, Vesper would give Aladriel a quick slap on her cheek.
It wasn't hard, but it got the point across as the small child pouted after she heard the answer.
"Don't love like my dad! He isn't around because he needs to safe the world! Saving the world is great, but not being there for my mum is bad!" Vesper said, most likely not making that much sense. Despite how passionate Midnight and Aladriel where, she never had spoken about Vesper's dad. Well, only that he wasn't often around. In fact, he hadn't been in town even once in all the time Aladriel would have been here. The only thing that is known about him is that he is a Huntsman, and not the kind of guy that mothers-in-law would be happy about.
Realizing only what she had actually done after the fact, Vesper looked at Aladriel with a blank expression after that emotion was out of her. She placed her hands on her lap, and looked down at her knees. She most likely wanted to say sorry, but seemed to be afraid of something and just remained silent.
Post by Aladriel Noir on Jan 1, 2021 8:44:53 GMT -5
Aladriel laughed awkwardly as she scratched her head a bit, just around the base of her small horns. This was getting awkward quick and fast. Vesper had some game going on but she wasn't too sure just yet. "Well.. yes and no, I love her like how you would love another boy or girl, with kissing and stuff. Not like a mother." When the small girl moved a bit to kneel infront of her, Aladriel gave her the full attention, but the question was just as hard hitting as the rest. It felt like interrogation, and to think Aly thought this would be an easy babysitting gig. God damnit Midnight. Why did you have to teach Vesper so much!
She took time with the reply, before she opened her mouth. "Both really, I love her platonically and romantically." Which prompted a swift slap from the child, which she squealed "Ow!" More in surprised than pain. Vesper just slapped her! She held her face, rubbing her cheek for a moment before using that had to rest on Vesper's head, sighing lightly before she began to rub Vesper's head.
"I don't love her like your dad did. I love her more. I'm not going to leave and do huntsmany stuff. I'm here to stay... at least I'd like to be here to stay. I love you and her lots, and I want the best for both of you." She gave the girl a kiss on the head before gesturing at her dinner. "Eat up though, it'll get cold otherwise."
As she ate, she thought more about the situation that was developing in her life as well as the world. Tensions were rising between the Faunus and the Humans, and it was coming to a breaking point, she knew it. She loved the girls, but whilst she would be of use and help here, she did believe herself that fighting the inevitable war that was coming would be a better use. After, she would come back and try again. Make it a reality.
"Alright, my turn. What would you do if your mater remarried?" Words: 351/2002

Moments after she looked at her knees, did she shut her eyes. Despite having them closed, her semblance didn't really gave her the privilege to be blind. Only when she sleep did Vesper have rest. She could sense Aladriel rubbing her cheek in one pulse, and with the next she could sense the older woman reaching out to her. Vesper flinched. Frightened for a moment. Her body trembled for a moment when Aldriel's hand touched the bat's hair. It took Momma moo speaking out loud for the bat to calm down enough to keep this reflex in check and open her eyes again to look at her babysitter.
Vesper kept gazing at those kind eyes. Vesper just gave a nod, still not seeming to be totally alright despite Aladriel seeming to only want the best for her and mom. She still seemed to be slightly guarded after Aladriel gave a kiss on her head, and gave the most timid response after saying that Vesper should eat her meal. "Yes, I will. Sorry."
As she ate her lasagne, she pricked her food with her fork a lot before stuffing it in her mouth. She wasn't hungry anymore. Her heart kept pounding and she felt like there was a rock stuck in her throat.
Vesper had other babysitters. She didn't wanted them anymore. Those who treated her like a child were... not fun, but if that was as worse kind she could have she wouldn't have nagged her mom for so long that she could do without.
It was the other kind of babysitters mom got who were the real problem, honestly. The kind that told Vesper to just stay in her room. There were like... four of them. 'Piercing girl', 'Smells-Like-Garlic', and 'Two-Tons' were three of them. Vesper couldn't remember their names, so she decided to give them names she could remember! They all pretty much say all you need to say about them to get the gest of it. It was how Momma Moo got her name too! Because she had cow horns and was sweet to me like mom! Moo-moo + Mom = Momma Moo. She was... defensive over the choice of nickname to her mom, because she didn't wanted mom to tell others.
Then there was Mrs. Beauregard.
She slapped Vesper in her face and locked her in her room without getting the dinner mom prepared when Vesper had called her 'Frog-Face'
That was the first time they met. About... a little bit over a year ago. Last time she babysitted was two weeks ago. Vesper was told by the woman shouting from the other side of the door that if she ever wanted to get anything to eat or drink, Vesper needed to apologize a dozen times with. 'I will never be a troublesome Faunus ever again. I am sorry, Mrs. Beauregard.'
Vesper gained a peanut-butter sandwich after that. Without jam. Despite Vesper loving it because of the jam. Everybody does.
Mrs. Beauregard was like that. After that first time, Vesper needed to stay in her room all night. Eat there. Stay there.
Vesper... wanted to tell her mothers all of that. She knew that she shouldn't be treated that way, and that all of her other babysitters didn't hit her or were mean like that. She wanted to tell her mum the first time it all happened.
But when Vesper wake up after the first night Mrs. Beauregard stayed, mom didn't come home. Vesper walked into the living room seeing that old woman sitting at the table. She had made Vesper toast. Said that her mom never came home and that she hadn't heard of her. Mrs. Beauregard didn't wanted to leave a child alone, so she stayed. She was... not nice, but also not awful.
Mom came home a bit before noon. She wore a scarf despite it being summer. And Vesper knowing she didn't wore it when she left home. She looked...weird. Like she had fallen down and was in pain. I wanted to hug her, but Mrs. Beauregard said I needed to go to my room. She and mom talked. For an hour, or so. Well, there was also yelling. After that her babysitter finally left.
Midnight wore the scarf for about a week, in house. Said she had a terrible cold and needed to keep it warm at all time. Her arms at well. She didn't perform anywhere that week, so they spend time together. Mom was weird though. Not really there. Vesper couldn't sleep well that week as well. She went to her mom's room one night when she was already asleep. She was laying above the covers. There were...marks around her neck and her wrists. Bruises, the kind you get when you really, really, bump hard into something. It looked... painful. Vesper never said that she saw them. Didn't wanted to alarm mom. Cause her trouble. Someone did that all to her. Vesper said nothing about how her baby-sitter had acted. It just... didn't seem important compared to whatever happened with mom. I just was really nice to her and didn't speak up or did anything naughty. Mom went to work after a week of rest, though with sleeve and a feather boa.
Mrs. Beauregard became a mainstay in the babysitter roster.
She brought Vesper books to read, as there was not really anything in her room that could serve as entertainment. Mrs. Beauregard never read a story. Said it would make her lazy. She would question Vesper about the books she read and what they were about. What she learned from it all. She remembered two titles and stories clearly.
'Faunus Friends go to work!'
You saw the characters coming from the 'Zoo-quarter' and how they worked in the factory and on a farm. They were thankful for the work. They got food for working, as well as clothing and the things they needed. No money. When Vesper asked Mrs. Beauregard why this was she instructed Vesper that giving Faunus money meant that they would spend most of it on alcohol. That Vesper's mum worked so hard being the 'burlesque queen' of the city and she still couldn't even save enough to get a proper house. Vesper asked what burlesque was. She said that her mother was just doing what came natural to her instincts. Vesper didn't really understood that, but she knew that asking more would not get her anywhere.
The other book was called 'Dr. DoGooder'. It was written by Mrs. Beauregard.
Doctor DoGooder traveled remnant and collected animals. He learned how to speak with animals. He thought them things about how humans lived, and needed to teach animals to not make a 'ruckus of the whole caboodle'. He thought a Crocodile to wear pants, a Hippo to use cutlery for his meals, and a Llama to drive a car! He thought the animals so much that they even started to learn how to speak like humans did. They all thanked Doctor DoGooder for everything he thought and gave them and that they would never again make a 'ruckus of the whole caboodle'.
Vesper thought the lesson was that the doctor should have helped people in a hospital because that is what doctors do.
Mrs. Beauregard pulled on Vespers ears really hard and locked her in her room without food for the night after that.
...
Vesper didn't wanted that woman to babysit anymore.
She thought that by slapping Aly, she might have ruined her chances of being free from that woman. Thought she had ruined her only hope. A part of her reacted the way she did in response to Aly's latest show of affection was... because she thought that Momma Moo was going to pull her ears, or give her a slap back. Mrs. Beauregard would have done so.
On top of all of this, sespite how much Aly said that she loved Vesper and only wanted the best for her... Vesper didn't believe it.
The bat liked Aly. She loved spending time with her. She knew that her mom was sweet with Aly. But like... Vesper didn't even knew where Aly was born. This was the first time she even saw her in the apartment without mom! The first time she could even really talk to the woman about if and why she liked her mom so much!
And now she said that she loved her more than dad! Said she was going to stay? Stay here in the apartment?! Why! You say that you want the best for the both of us, but you do not even know him!
Because of all of these emotions swirling inside of the girl, she wasn't even half way done with her own plate before Aladriel was done and finished hers. When she said something that Vesper couldn't believe.
..."Remarry?" She said blankly and distantly while looking at her lasagne. Vesper's entire body clenched. She knew that she had already ruined any chance to be freed from Mrs. Beauregard. There was no reason to try and impress this woman and her lies. Vesper's hands clenched her cutlery, as she rose her head and looked directly at Aladriel. She sounded... hurt. and angry. "You... MOM... she..." Vesper clenched her fists, before letting go of her fork and knife and throwing the plate with half-eaten lasagne through the air in the direction of Aladriel. Not really a precise throw in her angry state. Her wings expanded in her anger and hit a nearby side-table on which a potted-plant previously lived a carefree life. Just as the plant was now fallen down and shattered, did Vesper shatter any pretense and shouted her frustrations that she never burdened her mom with. Why the hell not, right? "SHE IS STILL MARRIED! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE! DAD LOVES ME! YOU ARE NOTHING TO MY MOM! NOTHING TO ME! I HATE YOU!"
Vesper was now a full on crying mess of a child as she stood there. She was sad, angry, confused. She wasn't in control of her emotions and able to deal with everything she was feeling. She was mad at Aladriel, mad at herself, mad at everything and everyone. She clenched her little fists and her wings flapped, though besides the already murdered plant, no other furniture was harmed in the outburst. She then just stood there, still enraged, in a form of stand-off with Aladriel. Momma Moo would have never seen the timid child like this, nor would any of her previous behaviour give any indication that she hated Momma moo. At this moment though, she wasn't going to move before she did. Didn't knew if the bat needed now to jump out of the window and fly away from here, or jump at Aladriel to bite her.

Aladriel got back to eating as well once Vesper had finished her little outburst, and she kept up her smile as well. Vesper was a good girl, sometimes a bit of a troublemaker but weren't all kids? She enjoyed the company though and she would finish off her drink before the question she asked, which was definitley not what she thought was going to be the end of a good night. She left the question to hang in the air for a moment, eating her dinner before looking up at Vesper to see the blank stare, that was turning to anger. Oh no, that wasn't good. She was prepared for another outburst of whatever, but definitely not what she was expecting.
As soon as the plate was sent through the air, Aladriel tried to instinctively dodge it, but instead would dodge INTO it, the plate colliding with her head, sending lasange all over here. Thankfully the plate didn't smash, but she got quite the painful hit from it. Once hit by the plate, she sort of sat back, pushing back slightly from the standing, angry bat child. She hated her? I was nothing to both of them? That was definitely not the self-confidence obliteration she was expecting today. Hell, she kinda expected it to come later on with one of the clients from Yuki's at the end of the week. Not from Vesper.
Her eyes drifted from shock to... she wasn't even sure. Sadness? Depression? Some combination of the two as she just slowly got up and mumbled as she walked passed Vesper, pushing her wing to the side absent-mindedly. "I'm.. just gunna go wash this food off.. I won't be long." First was the kitchen, to grab two bottles of rum. The one she had started and a fresh one before bringing those to the bathroom. She tried to speak again to Vesper, choking upm slightly in the process however. "C-Can you um.. clean up a bit? Just.. put the plate in the sink and.. I'll s-sort the rest.." Before disappearing into the bathroom, and starting up the bath.
Stripping out of her now ruined nice clothes, she folded them up neatly on the side as she kept her eyes on the water, trying not the think about what she said before uncapping the rum she had started and full on chugging the entire bottle. Tonight was going to be long... When the bath was filled, she made sure to clean her face free of food as well as anywhere else so she could slip into the bath and just... lay there. Contemplating life before she started to quietly sob, the sounds echoing in the bathroom, whilse she nursed the fresh bottle of rum. There was no way she meant nothing to them right..? That couldn't be right.. but she believed her.

Being a literal child, Vesper's range of emotional responses to things was quite limited. If someone was sad and crying, she felt sad and went to give them hugs. When she got angry, she expected people around her to get angry in return. It made sense to her little mind.
So when Aladriel got... sad, in response to being angry... Vesper wasn't sure how to feel. At first she was confused when Aladriel simply passed the bat by pushing her wings to the side. Did she not understand that Vesper was angry? Vesper made a small flapping motion with her wings as she screamed after Aly as she got the bottle of rum to go to the bathroom. "Yeah! You better run!"
Why Aly would run to the bathroom was weird, and when she returned Vesper put on her best angry face!
It made her look like a mad hamster more than anything as she puffed her cheeks.
She demanded that Vesper cleaned the plates now too? More wing flapping followed as she gave her response like she was some sort of disgruntled dragon who didn't wanted to listen! "I am not cleaning up! You are not my mom! Stop pretending you are!"
And with that Aly was off to the bathroom, leaving Vesper alone in the living room. At first she raised her arms up to the sky. She had won! Her babysitter had ran out of the room and hadn't hit her or screamed at her! That mean she had won, right?!
...
Then why does it feel like she had lost?
The bat remained with her own feelings for a moment, as the first rush of her anger had subsided. She started to pace around the room, wings contracted again. What was she supposed to do next? She had never been at this point where she had yelled against a babysitter and they just... left...
The child walked over towards the bathroom. She kept standing in front of the door as she could hear the water running. Was she... washing her clothing in the bathtub? Why? The bat put her ear to the door as she tried to listen for anything inside. There was nothing yet.
Returning back to the living room, she paced around again. Now first noticing that she had hit one of mom's plants. As she stared at the remains, a thought crept into her mind.
Was she the baddy here?
...
Without a second thought, she went over to clean the plates and the cutlery they had been using. Though Aly said she should just place it in the sink... she could clean it, right? Do something for Momma Moo? That made things better, right? She made sure to scrub it clean really good even though she couldn't reach the sink easily. After that was done, the bat returned to the bathroom door again. She placed yet again her ear against the wood.
No running water... but she could hear... crying?
...
Vesper hurried over towards the plant she just knocked over. If she cleaned that up, Aly might be less sad. Right? She collected the shards of the pottery, cutting her fingers slightly as she worked hurried to complete the task. She put the shards in the trash, before she got a broom to collect the dirt. She got a plastic bucket and placed the plant into it, alongside with the loose dirt as best she could.
See! Nothing was really broken that couldn't be fixed.
Returning again to the bathroom door, the bat could hear Aly crying without even needing to place her ear against the wood.
...Should Vesper clean the rest of the house?
No.
Her hand must have hovered near the door for about a minute, before she got the courage to knock loudly. She stayed silent for a moment, before she said what was really on her mind.
"I am sorry..."
Aly could hear a bonk on the door, which was the bat placing her head against the surface in frustration as she herself now started to cry loudly. "I AM SORRY, I AM SORRY, I AM SORRY!" She repeated, her body slumping against the door. Sitting on the ground now, the small Faunus child began to weep at the other side of the door. She repeated that she was sorry throughout her weeping, all being semi-unintelligible at this point as her nose was stuffy and her throat felt like she had eaten a rock.

The outburst comments as Aly grabbed the drinks and returned to the bathroom did not help her mental state much, but once she was soaking in the tub and nursing the bottle, it started to recover. Whilst she cried softly, her mind was cast back to the few times Midnight had comforted her after a few bad nights in a row at Yuki's. She was new to the scene and the things she did was embarrassing and painful for her, but with Midnight nearby to help afterwards it was all worth it. Hell, she even began to enjoy some of the things that happened there too because Midnight had expressed passion for it. If she was okay with it, then she would be happier with the relationship they had? She knew she was married to that jerk huntsman who left, but that didn't stop the two of them enjoying each others love. Midnight needed it and Aly was very happy to reciprocate.
During her bath, she could hear movements in the living room. Unsure on what Vesper was actually doing, she was getting worried herself. She got to work on the real reason to wash off, and that was to clear the food off her face and upper chest, as well as redo any makeup in the mirror with the spares that Midnight allocated her in the small mirror cupboard they had. Just as she finished, she heard the knock and the admittance of Vesper being sorry. She looked at the door, as the louder bonk came as the crying bat was apologising over and over. Poor Vesper... time to bottle for now. She can express her concerns to others later, right now she was looking after what was apparently quite a volatile child when her mother wasn't nearby. Not that she complained, but it was a different experience as a whole.
Once done, she dried off and put clothes back on, but she definitely needed a new shirt so she kept the towel wrapped around her chest and put on her shorts before opening the bathroom door. She froze at Vesper laying on the floor for a moment before she knelt down and picked her up into her lap, hugging her close. "Hey hey hey, don't worry about it Vespie, I'm okay see?" She gave a big smile but it was obvious she had been crying as her eyes were a bit stuffy. "I'm smiling and happier now, so don't worry." Aladriel looked about the room, taking notice of the fact Vesper not only cleared up the mess from the food, but also did the dishes as well as cleaned up the plant she knocked over. She was a good egg really. "Thank you for clearing up for me, you didn't have to do the dishes though silly."
"Right, I need a new shirt... I might've left one here last time I slept on the sofa, can you help me look for it? I'm gunna throw my other shirt that has food on it into the washing machine and set that to a quick one then I'll join you, yeah?" She would set Vesper down onto her feet before getting up herself, one hand holding the towel up. It would be a bit weird to be naked infront of her lover's daughter. "Then I'll get you some cheesecake and ice cream!" Vesper Dubonnet Words: 562/3048
