❝Show me colors of the sky,
But all I see is gray❞
542 w./ 542 w. total
The weekend had rolled around once again, which meant that her Mom would be busy with food orders in the kitchen along with Camilla. It was left up to Hinata to tend the bar once again and it was on these nights that the place got crowded. The Heaven was a spacious joint with floors that were freshly waxed every week to give off a professional atmosphere. The jukebox in the corner played some upbeat tunes that her Mom had personally selected for the place to hype up the clients that wandered in.
The beverage selection wasn't anything to scoff at either! They had everything from cheap beer to the rare top shelf drinks, though it was not often at all that it was brought down. At this time, most of the floor was taken up by tables that were brimming with patrons who were downing mugs of differing ales and chowing down on plates of grub. From time to time, Hina's Mom would fly out expertly balancing plates of flood in both arms to deliver to customers and then dash back into the kitchen.
Though she lacked much ego, Hinata was well aware that things got busy during the weekend at this specific place for two reasons. The first was the mellow atmosphere that was firmly enforced. If a fuss was caused, then someone was thrown out harshly by the seemingly innocent looking girl and her...special gift. The other reason? They came to hear her sing. Just slightly tucked away from the bar area was a raised platform that was built for Hinata to give performances.
She would be sure to serve everyone their appropriate drinks in due time and make sure that everyone was situated...and then the lights would dim. Hinata would ascend the short steps and approach the microphone stand, and then the spotlight would kick on. It was humbling to see these normally rough and tumble types grow dead silent to hear her perform. It made the girl smile brightly!
Hinata spent most of her off time writing lyrics for her friends and fans, asking for criticism and pointers after her performance. Though it usually boiled down to simple compliments and cheers, which was all fine and good but...in the end it didn't really matter. She wanted more out of life than just being a bartender in the slums and with the offer given by Wolf...perhaps that could become a reality?
But the thought of paperwork worried her. Sure she had her Mom's lawyer to help, but the last thing that Hina wanted was to be taken advantage of! All of this was going through her mind as she sang to her crowd, enchanting them with her angelic melody. Once it had slowly died down, Hina bowed politely to the claps and applause before stepping down and returning to the bar where she clicked the lights back on.
The night continued as usual. Serving drinks with a smile on her face and making small talk with the regulars while keeping mindful of the lights around her. If things ever escalated, then those innocent little light bulbs would turn quite deadly...
"Welcome to Heaven! Please have a seat and I will be right with you! Thank you very much!"

It was a rather standard evening. Kimmie had been out in the city at nighttime, trying to mingle with the world she was attempting to break into. Trying to find the party places, the people watching, finding the scouts, the ones interested in finding new idols. As usual, it hadn't been overly successful. Even so, Kimmie remained fairly opstimistic in her approach. There had been a few conversations. There had been people impressed with her voice and movements. Word would surely be spreading, little by little, until a proper opportunity presented itself. On the note of opportunities, Kimmie recalled the strange little brunette that had been claiming she was a maiden, joining some sort of band. While it initially hadn't seemed overly appealing, the girl had proven to have some kind of skill. Precisely how much, precisely how competent, was still a mystery for future Kimmie to figure out. For now, however, it seemed like a perfectly reasonable lead to follow up on. In the late hours of the evening, getting any kind of new relations arranged would be difficult. Following up on threads already sown and planted however, would be perfect in these hours. The only problem was, Kimmie couldn't quite remember how the two of them were to follow up on the earlier conversation. As such, the moderately intoxicated pinkette had decided to simply return to where their chance encounter had occured. Back to the bar. Because if her memory served, the brunette had been giving her alcohol from the bar. Which likely meant she was a bartender there, or otherwise had some kind of affiliation to the locale. A good enough place to go and ask around...
Opening the door, Kimmie was standing in the frame in her full glory. The tall boots solidly planted on the floor. The jacket half open, giving just enough of a glimpse into her shirt to reveal the clothed shape of her chest, without leaving her too cold in the weather. With confidence and an air of superiority, Kimmie walked straight up to the bar, flicking a hand through her hair in a very demonstrative fashion, garnering enough attention from the patrons still remaining in the bar. Without looking over the bar, as in, literally steaing herself so she had her back turned to the bar, she spoke loudly. In a fashion that clearly said she demanded the attention of whoever was currently working the bar, all without actually looking at them. "Yo, two things. First, some kind of shot to keep me warm... second, looking for a brunette bartender with some kind of singing ability. Spoke something about a band; Would you know where I could find her?"
Situated perfectly to view everything otherwise going on in the bar, the emerald eyes with red crosses slowly peered around. Each individual she looked upon seemed to visible avoid her gaze. As if her mere pressence was causing those around her to turn more awkward. Like she commanded obedience.

"Oh yes I will be right with you!"
She moved along the bar with ease, categorizing each order in her head as she swiped up bottles first. They were the easiest to serve, after all, and it was the drink that most of the patrons went with anyway. So most of them were satisfied rather quickly, plus the way Hina used the edge of the bar to slide her butt across gave them a bit of a show.
It was a tactic that she used frequently. Her side of the bar was greased up to the point that it acted like a slide for Hina to reach the various customers with ease...and with her skit tucked up slightly, it was a bit of show with her service.
There definitely was a large crowd today, but it wasn't surprising considering the working class in the district. Everyone wanted to unwind during the weekend after a hard week, so Hinata would do her best to alleviate their worries some! And after her song, they were also beginning to calm down a little while showing her some courtesy. Despite how grungy this whole area was...the people were closer. There was obviously the occasional scumbag who made things hell for everyone, but that was anywhere. They were usually dealt with swiftly though, so it didn't bother Hinata none.
The door had opened, which Hina didn't pay much mind to. But it seemed that a good majority of the guys had stopped talking when this certain customer strolled in. Hina was busily cleaning out a glass with a washcloth, tongue stuck out slightly in concentration, when the person bumped into the bar. She didn't look up from hearing the request, but instead snatched up a shot glass and upturned a bottle of bourbon into it.
"Sure thing! Nothing will keep the fire burning quite like this!"
Hinata slid a napkin onto the bar quickly and dropped the glass down without spilling. It was only then that she looked up and her amber eyes widened. The long flowing pink hair touched down onto her hand as she held the shot out and the girl remained motionless for a moment.
It was her...Kimmie!
A wide, dumb smile stretched out across her face at the girl. Even though Kimmie's back was turned, Hina recognized that beautiful hair from the night when the bar got...a bit crazy. Kimmie was an amazing singer and knew how to form lyrics at a rapid fire pace plus she was also a professional dancer! Hinata thought that she'd never see her again!
"I uh well um you see I...um..."
Unfortunately it also meant that Hinata was at a loss for words. Because Kimmie gave off an air of superiority and such a commanding presence caused Hinata to flush so red that she looked like a tomato. Her voice squeaked like a squirrel and she had to clear her throat to even speak properly to the domineering girl.
"Well, you see...that would be me. Hina...Hinata Tsurya! Thank you for remembering me!"
She quickly bowed low to Kimmie's back and subsequently slammed her forehead into the bar, causing it to shake very slightly. The girl yelped and quickly lifted her head to rub at the red mark with one eye closed.

Two fingers parted from the rest, almost pinching the shot glass with a finesse that seemed super natural. Mainly because Kimmie was moving with such determination that one might have mistaken the shot glass for some prey to be captured. Yet, at the same time, Kimmie moved so slow and controlled that it seemed even an earthquake would be denied from moving said shot glass. The glass was lifted, almost in rhythm with her chest expanding from a deep, calm breath. Brought to her lips, as the glass touched her lower lip and it softly gave way, there was something inherently sensual about the pink haired female. Every move speaking of softness, tenderness and the confidence to wield her body as a weapon if necessary. All without revealing anything, nor by being overtly sexual in nature. The liquid slipped onto her tongue, as she swallowed. Smacking her lips softly, tasting the alcohol, the sh0t glass was quietly lowered back onto the table. Practically at the same time that a resounding thunk from Hinata's forehead attempting to reshape the structure of the bar. Turning her head just enough that she could witness this miserable failure out of the corner of her eyes, the red cross in the middle of the emerald was unmistakably gazing upon Hinatas awkward, borderline foolish form. Poking the glass forward with her index finger, Kimmie was practically ignoring everything that had just happened, as if that whole exchange would be beneath her.
"I didn't remember you, no." Kimmie spoke, as her attention turned away from Hinata in a slow fashion, looking out over the bar proper, realizing that a lot of eyes had already fallen onto her. A self confident smile was on her lips, as she quietly stretched her body. "I remembered something about a proposition. About joining a band, and I figured..." The way Kimmie spoke was just as her actions, movements. Slow, deliberate, with every word chosen for a reason. Every tone and incline in volume for the precise reason of cornering prey. "Kimmie, why not let the girlie put her money where her mouth is?" Now that the pink haired bombshell was finally addressing Hinata directly, she softly turned on the bar chair, leaning in over the bar itself, to stare directly into Hinata's eyes. Knowing full well that she was being intimidating. "..So if you want me to risk my career by joining up, I figured you'd be willing to risk something important on a bet with me. Seems only fair, right?" Of course it did. With the way that Kimmie had proposed the question, there wasn't really much of an argument that could be had. If Hinata wasn't willing to risk anything, then why would Kimmie?
"So, I have a counter proposition. Rather than join your band immediately, I will instead be hired to instruct. Dancing, singing, being an idol. I will be taking care of that for you." Kimmie, staying so close to Hinata's face that the other girl could feel her breath - which had a pleasant smell of soft alcohol and harder shots, the wind of every word tickling on her skin like a fair breeze. "...and you prove to me that I am not wasting my time, before joining as a regular member, putting my career on the line alongside you..." Leaning back, breaking the tension, the most important message had been imparted. The secondary message that was soon to come, wasn't as critical. For, frankly, Kimmie had no belief that this awkward brunette had a snowballs chance in hell of making that upset.
"Lastly, I should state, that if you are to stand as the leader, you've better have the skill to back it up. I do not respect or tolerate weakness. So if you honestly want me to follow you... you will have to challenge me at some point." With that, the ground rules were set in place. Every card was on the table, out in the open. There were definitely demands in there, along with warnings. However, if those terms seemed agreeable to Hinata, then... perhaps Kimmie would be okay with giving it a shot. Afterall, if it was a complete flop, at least she would have a few weeks of pay as an instructor. Something which her wallet desperately needed...

She groaned quietly to herself, still rubbing at the red mark on her forehead that was slowly forming into a bump. It only hurt her slightly, but it was her pride that was in far more pain. Her eye opened up with a flutter of the girl's short eye lashes as Kimmie stretched like a comfy cat on a warm rug. Hina's amber eyes widened as she stared at the alluring girl and when she turned upon the bartender, her mouth hung agape.
"Oh...Ah-I see. Forgive my assumption! Yes-I..."
Her voice was cracking under the steady emerald gaze from Kimmie. For the first time, Hinata stared into them and felt her heart pounding in her chest like a jackhammer upon seeing the scarlet crosshairs focused on her. As if she were a target. Prey. It both terrified and exciting the brunette as Kimmie eased her way over the bar.
"You cannot...I mean that is...Eep!"
Like a chipmunk, Hina squeaked at the domineering air that Kimmie exuded. A commanding aura that demanded Hina's full attention that made her feel so so small...but there was something else. No, it wasn't fear that she felt from Kimmie. She was very clever with her speech, certainly, and Hina was caught off guard...having never dealt with this level of presence before. It shook her, even as she attempted to back up but felt her body lock up completely.
"An instructor..."
The words hung on her lips, touched delicately by Kimmie's own sultry breath. They were so close that Hina instinctively slid her hand up to clutch her chest, pushing at it as if to prevent her heart from bursting! The color of her forehead was blending in with the rest of her ever reddening face as she was burning up from the intimate atmosphere that Kimmie assaulted her with. She wanted to speak up, to express her excitement over Kimmie's interest, but she couldn't. It was impossible to think with her this close! Hina felt as if she would melt into a puddle at any moment...
"Yes, I un...mm...I understand."
Kimmie slipping back to her seat was like whiplash to Hinata. With the tension cut like a knife through butter, Hina breathed out a deep relaxing breath as if she hadn't breathed in a millennia and wiped her sweating brow by shaking her short, unkempt hazel hair. Although her body was still shaking, the girl grounded herself behind the bar by planting her feet and grasping the bar firmly. She looked straight into those targeting eyes with conviction then after hearing out the final terms. The reel was cast with the bait, but the question was...who was the fish and who was the fisher?
"Very well." Her voice picked back up, smoothing out as the declaration bared some authority of her own. "I will show you what we can do, Kimmie. And you mark my words."
Hinata reached beneath the bar without breaking eye contact...without blinking. A second shot glass was slammed down next to Kimmie's with one hand and the other gripped the neck on a bottle of whiskey. Her thumb expertly pushed at the cork and it popped off with a resounding PLOP! Still gazing at Kimmie, the bottle upturned slowly and poured like a steady stream into the glasses gently. Not a single dropped was spilled as the bartender set the bottle down softly.
"Even if it means beating you, I will earn your respect." She lifted her shot glass up to Kimmie, a halo of light very slowly forming around her head as her own eyes started to glow with bright heavenly light that gave the bar it's name.
