Date: January 8, 27 AV
Site of Discovery: Kingdom of Mistral; Mistral City; Cloud District
First Entry:
Proposed Species Name: Homopupa Formafurans Limax (lit. "Form-Stealing Man-Puppet Slug")
Documented Common Name: Sucker
Physical Characteristics: The Homopupa Formafurans Limax has been observed to be a small species of Grimm, approximately 21cm in length, round and slug-like, with a semi-amorphous form, conducive to blood-transmitted parasitic invasion of a host individual. It is capable of independent terrene movement, utilizing tiny insectile legs to crawl along surfaces. It has not been observed to possess any means of attacking directly, nor is it especially durable, on its own. Likely relation to the Eidolarion Formafurans (Common Name: "Geist"), as this species is capable of a form of Possession, specific to living organic matter.
Geographic Range: Unknown. Thus far, only one specimen has been observed, in the Kingdom of Mistral, and it is believed to have originated from the village of Rochdale (destroyed when overrun by Grimm in early January, 26 AV).
Threat Level: Category 3. Should more of these Grimm be discovered, it is crucial that they be destroyed or otherwise incapacitated immediately, in order to prevent them from using their Possession ability. Under no circumstance can one be permitted to come into contact with exposed flesh, especially any bodily orifices, or open wounds.
Additional Notes: This creature is the first known Grimm subspecies which appears to be capable of parasitic infection, and hostile neurological takeover of its host. Extremely dangerous, although easily dispatched. Anomalous, in that unlike most recorded Grimm, it does not immediately kill or consume its victim, but instead seems to direct them towards a more highly populated area to wreak havoc.
More data needed to draw any further conclusive points.
Second Entry:
Proposed Species Name: Homopupa Formafurans Captivus (lit. "Form-Stealing Man-Puppet Prisoner")
Documented Common Name: Thrall
Physical Characteristics: Presumably vastly varied, depending on the identity and characteristics of the individual victim undergoing Possession. (Hereafter specifically referred to as Grimmification, to distinguish the process from the Eidolarion Formafurans' ability.)
This specimen, having infected former Haven Academy student and criminal, Qiuli of Luòyè, stood at roughly 185 cm tall, and was coated in the same tar-like liquid that the Homopupa Formafurans Limax appeared to be made up of. The coating itself appeared extremely durable, and was also malleable. The specimen appeared to lack any explicit scrimshaw markings, although these may have merely been covered up by its tar-like coating.
The specimen demonstrated incredible superhuman speed, strength, and endurance, as well as a capacity for intelligent thought, and (according to eyewitness reports) verbal communication. Among its many abilities, the coating covering the specimen seemed to be capable of rapid regeneration, and the generation of new limbs, in great numbers, each capable of independent prehensile movement.
The specimen was also seemingly capable of producing new Grimm from its body, notably releasing a number of Eidolarion Formafurans and Homopupa Formafurans Limax.
Further study is needed to confirm whether these abilities are innate to the Homopupa Formafurans Captivus, or if some, or all, of its capabilities are derived from the host individual.
Geographic Range: Unknown. Thus far, only one specimen has been observed, in the Kingdom of Mistral, and it is believed to have originated from the village of Rochdale (destroyed when overrun by Grimm in early January, 26 AV).
Threat Level: Category 5. Extremely dangerous and highly lethal. Capable of producing an unknown number of Grimm, both for combative purposes, and possible reproduction. Under absolutely no circumstances should it be allowed to release Grimm into populated areas- if spotted, a full team of capable and experienced Huntsmen, or a pair of elite Huntsmen, specializing in single-Grimm combat, should be dispatched immediately. If spotted, the surrounding area must be evacuated immediately, to minimize casualties. The only known specimen thus far required a number of powerful Semblance-users to neutralize the threat, and not without civilian casualties.
Additional Notes: If possible, the victim may be recovered following the creature's defeat, although heavy injuries are likely to be sustained. In this case, the victim (Qiu'li) seemed to survive the battle, reverting to his original form, as he was prior to Grimmification. As he was killed shortly after, however, there is no conclusive evidence that this may be the case. Therefore, in the event that another specimen is spotted and destroyed, it would be advisable to retrieve and securely contain the host, for further medical examination and study. Post-mortem examination of the cadaver, following its arrival to the morgue confirmed that all traces of Grimmification were absent from the remains; therefore, until otherwise observed, it can be inferred that the destruction of the outer layer of the Grimm should suffice to entirely free the host individual.
A secondary theory, postulated by an expert who will remain anonymous, surmises that if it is possible, perhaps through means of a certain Semblance capable of making an object intangible, or similar means, the Homopupa Formafurans Limax parasite could be removed directly from the host, allowing for a swifter, less violent, and likely less dangerous de-Grimmification process.
More data is needed to draw any further conclusions.
Further study of the ruins of Rochdale recommended, for the further advancement of Grimmological studies, and detection of these, and similar, threats.
