Well, fuck this shit. I kept searching, but I still didn’t find anything! Chances are they were only fuckers wanting to cause a little distress, I mean, I wouldn’t even be surprised. This city seems to be chocked full of that kind of people! At least, they were not Haven students for once...
Fuck! Now I was starting to think like that too! Bloody hell. Whatever, these forests seemed even more empty than usual, if that’s even possible. So I wouldn’t keep wasting my time when it was clear something fishy was happening at the construction site. So with a mighty sight, I started jogging back to where I had come from.
The site was... Well, it was chaos, pretty much what you’d expect when people are told a horde of Grimm is coming their way. People running, screaming for no reason at all, and pretty much lacking any organization.
I tried calming people down, but I was a single person and not the most personable of them. Damnit, moments like this were when Reynard’s semblance would be really useful. Sadly, as always, he was absent when needed to most.
Deciding it was useless, I began walking towards the stage. Maybe Aly and her group could take care of this? Direct the people so they could flee with a little more organization put behind it? I was about to reach the stage when suddenly, a booming voice in the distance caught my attention.
-B-Bianca! My companion in JUSTICE and HEROISM, have you come here to succor your partner?-
Looking around me, I noticed a couple people staring at me, and back at the blonde boy currently trapped under a pile of crates. How did he get himself there? I wasn’t sure I wanted to know, there were no high places from where they could have fallen on him...
-...I swear I don’t know him. He must mean Bianca Hunter or someone else...- I called out to no one in particular, he had an aura and could wait. But people would start getting seriously hurt if they were not directed somehow.
-P-please! Your partner needs assistance to vanquish these EVIL crates!- He shouted, reaching for me with his free hand while trying in vain to get himself freed. Sighing, I slapped my forehead and decided to go and help the dumb giant...
-Tsk fine. Just...-
Or at least that was my intention before I noticed something that looked way more pressing at the moment. Some assholes had pipes and shit in their hands and they were wrecking stuff left and right indiscriminately... As I said, yep. This city was filled with idiots like those.
-Hold up a second, be right back- I said, running towards the scene, ignoring the pleas of Arno Mach for the moment. These fuckers looked like they could hurt a civilian at any moment with their shenanigans. So they needed to be stopped asap... Besides that, just... Who does that? What kind of person you have to be to do that?
-Yo, cut that shit out!- I called as I approached them from behind. One of them jumped at my voice, turning around quickly and holding his pipe defensively in front of him. I quickly grabbed the thing in one hand and squeezed it until the metal bent and broke in the middle.
He looked at me, I looked at him. And he put his hands in the air in surrender. The others looked a little more feisty, or a little more stupid. They stopped bashing a piece of machinery I could not identify and turned their makeshift weapons towards me. Swinging wildly and without any real expertise or training behind their blows.
I mean, didn’t they see me break that pipe earlier? If this was their level of skill, I would be shitting my pants right now, not putting up a fight! Cursing the people in this city for the twelfth time. I grabbed one of the weapons as it tried to hit my head. Ripping it from the perpetrator’s hand and using it to parry the remaining tube so hard it split right in the middle, leaving him holding only a broken handle.
I grabbed them all from the collar of their clothes... They fucking stank. It was almost like they had been living in the sewers or something like that! It was not as if I didn’t sleep in there every now and then in my days. But it wasn’t a smell that I was very glad to remember. Shaking my head, I dragged them towards the empty wagon where I had killed the beowulf earlier in the day.
-I’m gonna lock you all here. Grimm may come, so keep really quiet and you should be safe here until we manage to drive them away- I said as I threw them inside the thing. This was the outskirts of Mistral. Not some random village in the middle of nowhere that would be abandoned as soon as things got dicey. So my word was as good as you could get, we would not leave this place to fester with Grimm. We would drive them back whatever the cost.
Part of me wanted to just let them go, let them run away, and not be a bother. And that way they would probably be safer too. But if they were the kind of people that would simply start breaking shit like some kind of rejected anarchists when there was a risk of Grimm mulling around, then I had no guarantee that they wouldn’t pick the first piece of wood or metal they could find and start going at it again.
Locking both entrances with beams of wood. I returned to the center stage. Arno probably still needed help and shit. And people still needed to calm the fuck down so they could evacuate more safely.
