It wasn't often she left Kerch anymore. There was too much to do, too much to build, and too many people that needed her for something. However, self-sufficiency was a myth for anyone that wanted any amount of comfort in their lives. Kerch was a mess, and there was only so much they could do with that mess. No one was going to die to exposure anymore, food was more stable than it had been, but there was a lot they couldn't produce on their own. That was why Sinopia went out on periodic trips to some of the other outlying villages to see if they'd be willing to trade.
Her approach was softer than Alina's. She wasn't consolidating bandit tribes or the like, just talking to normal people to see if they were at all sympathetic to their cause and would be willing to trade resources. It was dangerous for both sides. For her because if they were hostile she had to get out immediately or risk being captured or killed. Worse, she pretty much had to go alone if she wanted to have any hope of escaping. Other people coming with her would just slow her down. The best she could do was bring a small team with her that would stay far out of range of the town, far enough they couldn't even see it, so they could come pick her up if she had to hide underground for a few hours.
Unfortunately, it was dangerous for the village as well. If the Council caught wind that a village was helping a "terrorist threat" or whatever they decided they wanted to call the Kozaks that week, then that village could face retribution. Even some of the villages that were sympathetic to their cause refused to trade with them for that reason, and she couldn't blame them. That was exactly why she was upfront with them on who she was and the problems that may arise if they agreed to help. She also made sure to have contingencies in place to make whatever traders they sent look like a bandit tribe or something should a Huntsmen or something show up at a bad time. The village could be reimbursed later, when it was safe. Sinopia did everything she could think of to make sure they'd stay safe.
Today was successful. The town was close enough to Rochdale to be pissed off about what happened there and nervous that it could happen there too, but far enough away to avoid attracting the Grimm horde that was probably still there. It meant it was a serious trek to get there, but the results were worth it. She managed to find a place that could actually get them some much needed medicine on a semi-regular basis. Today, she was heading home with a bag full of it and a bit of cloth so they could make some lighter clothing for summer.
The cloth was nice too, and the weather today was reminding her of why. It was sunny; the sun was bright and hot. The worst part was, she burned easily enough that she couldn't just take off her jacket unless she wanted to fry. It wouldn't be so bad if her aura wasn't complete shit and could actually regulate her temperature for more than an hour, but as it stood, she was sweltering. Her body was drenched in sweat by the time she left the village and it was tiring her out before even having to worry about driving back to Kerch.
There was still a few hours before she was scheduled to rendezvous with the team she brought this time, so she had some time to relax. Unfortunately, she hated having time to relax. There was too much to do and when she tried to relax all she could think about was that. Plus, it was really fucking hot and she wanted to be in a nice air conditioned car again. Sighing, she went to go sit on an interesting looking group of rocks barely with in eyeshot of the village. They were kind of sparkly, had interesting shapes. It was a good enough place as any to sit and wait for awhile. Once she sat down, she took off her jacket to try to cool off for a second. She'd have to put it back on before she roasted, but she could afford a few minutes with it off. She squished her jacket into a lump and used it as a pillow. Now that she actually had a chance to sit down, the fatigue was catching up with her. She rarely slept well even in the best of times, and with this much going on, she hadn't been able to sleep well in months. Plus, she had been running around and hadn't been eating very well. Laying down in the sun like this actually felt kind of nice. Gradually, without realizing it, her eyes started to feel heavy and closed as she drifted off to sleep.
An hour passed and her skin was now a bright red and peeling from laying in the sun too long, but it wasn't enough to wake her up. Her shirt rolled up her belly while she rolled in her sleep revealing that she was extremely skinny under all that loose clothing. She hadn't been eating well lately either. At first, it was because getting enough food was actually a problem, but now it was just because she was getting caught up in stuff and forgetting to eat. She'd get started on something, then look up and realize it was suddenly night time. Thus, she had lost a considerable amount of weight in the past year. More than was healthy even.
But for now, the state of her health and everything she needed to do didn't mean anything as she was peacefully sleeping on some neat rocks.
