Niraya Platinum When snow falls, Nature listens.
[attr="class","rainbow"]
The surprise Hide and Seek school training has taught Niraya she wasn't ready for moving around in dense environments. She has lived in Mystral for a long time but never had to move around all that much. during that training session, she had to hunt down her fellow students and they were very quick in the dense forest. Niraya was determined to get better at moving around as it would help her in combat should she find herself in a more enclosed area.
After the class was over she approached Qui'li. "hey uh...Can..can you teach me how to move as you do?" She was meaning the way he moves around the world similar to an extreme version of Parkur. Niraya was pretty nervous and it reflected in her posture. Her ears were flat on her head and she was hugging her tail.
She was a little surprised he accepted. "O-Ok. I guess I will meet you in the cloud district in the morning." She smiles and her posture changed to one more excited. ears standing up and her tail swaying a bit. She heads home and gets things ready for the training. She packs a small med kit sets aside some formfitting under armor clothing, shorts, and a jacket. She also puts Vixie on the charging stands so she was at full charge ready for the next day.
In the morning she gets everything ready even grabs her blade just in case they end up seeing a grimm though unlikely. Once she had everything she wakes up Vixie and attaches her to the air chassis and she happily flies around. "alright Vixie I'm going to be doing some training today you can follow me and Qui'li around just don't cause any trouble ok?" Vixie beeps happily showing she understood. Niraya nods and heads out for the cloud district. She gets there just as the sun rises over the mountains. She looks around for Qui'li unsure if he was already there waiting for her or not.
A request to train. That was a first for Qiu'li. Though he was flattered to say the least, his face didn't let on to show anything of the sort. He blinked a couple times as he thought about it. Qiu'li had never taught anyone before, or more like, he was still in the process of learning himself. Qiu'li was unsure about whether or not he was a suitable teacher for something like this, though upon looking at Niraya and how nervous she was based on how she fidgeted around, how could he say no?
To Qiu'li, it takes a lot of effort and humility to ask for help, therefore he saw no problem and accepted it. They would be meeting in the Cloud District, which was a bit of a surprise to him. Although the place would be an ideal place to train movement and how to maneuver, the environment and the people were... Less than ideal. The Cloud District was an area usually reserved for the more successful and influential members of Mistral, and with power comes a large hotpot of personalities, many of which tend to lean towards pompous and arrogant people. A large number of the Mistral police are stationed here as well, patrolling the area.
Qiu'li had woken up early the next morning and made his way there. Although he got a couple side-eyes from some of the citizens living here, he tried his best to avoid confrontation. They agreed to meet around the center area. Since Niraya hadn't shown up yet, he decided to do some morning stretches as he wore his tribal outfit. Among the various indistinct whispers, he glanced up to see the Faunus arrive with her mechanical companion in tow. Qiu'li waved over to her before continuing his stretching, indicating for her to do the same.
"Learn to run... Not difficult, however understand environment is important for movement." He said as he finished stretching. "Know layout of land brings opportunity. Both for battle and escape." He pointed to the various buildings, and noted how some had grooves in the walls, how others had ledges to grab onto, and which ledges were able to be reached by climbing onto various things like trashcans.
He gave her a somewhat brief breakdown on how freerunning involved more than simply fancy flips. It involved being able to make split decisions and to utilize one's environment to their favor while using their own body to reach greater heights. For now, Qiu'li took a running start and demonstrated how to scale a building. Picking a building that was about six meters tall, Qiu'li looked for a ledge that he could grab onto.
He saw a jagged ledge that had been slightly worn up and jutted out. Using that as a grab point, Qiu'li ran up the wall to grab onto the part that stuck out. He pulled himself up so that his feet was on the ledge and jumped up to grab onto the rooftop before pulling himself again. Turning around, he indicated for Niraya to get a couple practice runs and attempt the same, with his arm reached out for her to grab onto.

She chose the Cloud district for its dense cluster of buildings and wide shifts in elevation. She arrives at the meeting point and sees Qui'li already there and stretching. Niraya does the same though hers was different from Qui'li's. They were getting some strange looks. Niraya ignores this stuff as she was here to learn. Qui'li begins explaining in his rather simplistic way of how to freerun. Niraya pays attention to his lesson so she had a better understanding before they moved over to a building.
At the building Qui'li picked out, she watches him climb up using the natural footholds that the building had. It was now Niraya's turn she tries and falls off the building. She lands on her butt. Vixie starts to laugh as she flies up to Qui'li. Niraya growls and tries again this time getting a grip on the small foothold and pulls herself up enough to jump and grab Qui'li's arm. With his help, Niraya gets up to the roof. it was clear she could do it but needs a lot of practice. "ok...what...was harder than I thought." She looks down to where she just was. it was a decent height she just climbed far higher than she could before.
Vixie flies around them it was interesting to see the little drone was now flying. still, a little odd to see it with a gun mounted to it. Niraya made sure the gun the empty but it was a little unsettling. Niraya looks around the city. "So Qui'li let us continue. i would like to get a handle on this as it would help me out... I mean you did see how I struggled to get to you."
Qiu'li nodded to Vixie that had flown up to him, though the fact that it had a mounted weapon pointed at him was a bit unnerving. He wasn't nervous for himself, but rather for the people that live around these parts. No doubt they would see a flying mechanical device with a mounted ranged weapon and start calling police. They'd need to be careful with where they tread for the time being.
Glancing down, he saw Niraya struggle the first attempt. Not that surprising. It takes some level of physical effort and simply running at a wall to grab a ledge that was slightly jutting out from the wall isn't an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination. Upon the second try, she managed to nab his arm, and Qiu'li quickly pulled her up, instructing her to keep her feet against the wall while holding onto his arm as she made her way up.
Glancing over at the sun that had more than peaked over the mountain tops, Qiu'li looked around. Most of the rooftops were flat, save for a fence, vent, and metal box here and there. Perfect places for practicing how to maneuver. Though the first lesson he'd teach her would be momentum. He instructed her to follow as he started a light jog towards the end of the building rooftop. In front of them was a large, flat billboard that connected to the adjacent building at the same height, followed by a small gap about as wide as a narrow alleyway.
"Speed important when maneuver. Need build up speed to travel. Watch.
Qiu'li's jog turned into a dead sprint towards the billboard at an angle. Just as the rooftop ended, Qiu'li made a running jump and began running on the billboard. It almost seemed like he was sticking to it, though upon closer inspection it was apparent that he was slipping on the billboard, but because he was able to run beforehand, he used the speed to his advantage to be able to run across the billboard and made it seem like he was sticking to it. As soon as he reached the end of the billboard he would push off it with his feet and land on the rooftop of the adjacent building.
He turned back to Niraya and gave a thumbs up, indicated for her to try it herself. "Practice run on wall first before try cross here. He said as he waited for her to try and cross the small gap by wall running.

Niraya follows Qiu'li as he jogs across the roof. Vixie was following them zipping around randomly. Niraya was keeping pace with Qui'li mostly because he was taking a light jog. She looks around and sees the various rooftops that were relatively open which would make practicing easier. they stop at the end of the roof where Qui'li explained what needs to be done. She watches him take a running start and run across the wall kinda. it was odd seeing him move like that it was almost like he floated across. He then motioned for Niraya to follow. She looks down at the street below. there were a few people there so falling could be a problem.
She backs away from the billboard to make some room then sprints hard at it. She tries to do what Qui'li did but her attempt was pretty poor. she makes it about halfway before her connection to the wall was failing and she slips landing on the corner of the building knocking the wind out of her. She pulls herself up and was coughing. "ow..that hurt." She takes a moment to collect herself before standing up. "please continue."
She wasn't going to learn just by talking this was a good lesson for her as it wasn't just momentum she needed, it was a lot of fine motor skills as well to control how her moment is used. She rubs her belly it hurt but she was going to power through it. Vixie flies over next to Niraya and her facial expression was green and looked worried. Niraya pets the drones head. "it's fine only way I get better is to keep trying." She looks back at Qui'li ready for another test.
It was an attempt, alright. Her speed was fine, though something was missing. Something crucial to being able to run properly. Qiu'li thought for a moment as he tried to figure out what went wrong. Niraya had the run footwork, the right form, could it be just an issue of being a beginner at it? Possibly, though there was something else. Something...
"Hesitate too much. No good. If hesitate when run, you slow. If hesitate when jump, you fall. Commit to movement, else fail. No in-between. Practice still." Qiu'li said as he turned and continued onward. This building had a series of large pipes and vents scattered along the top. Qiu'li turned to Niraya and nodded.
"Overcome obstacle is important. Know more than one way to overcome." He said as he turned to the makeshift obstacle course. To demonstrate, Qiu'li took a running start. As he approached one of the large pipes that stuck out from the building then turned a 90 degree angle to parallel the rooftop, Qiu'li jumped forward, arms outstretched as they made contact with the structure and threw his legs over it. First one leg landed, then the other as he pushed off after clearing the obstacle while maintaining speed.
As he cleared the first obstacle, Qiu'li then sprinted towards the next obstacle, which was a raised surface supplemented with a bar right above it. He couldn't simply jump over it like the first obstacle, so he grabbed onto the bar that stuck above the raised surface and swung through the opening, feet first. As he landed, Qiu'li sprung forward and continued running, circling back towards Niraya.
Between them was one last obstacle: a large vent that was in a similar structure to the first, but there was no way Qiu'li was able to jump over it without losing speed significantly. Instead, right before the vent, Qiu'li tucked his body, knees forward, and slid under the gap between the ground and the vent. His dominant arm was behind his torso as he slid forward and used it to push himself up to run towards Niraya.
In essence, Qiu'li had demonstrated how to vault, underbar, and slide past an obstacle in front of her in such a way that prevented him from losing speed. In other words, he used the momentum of pushing himself off the ledge to minimize losing the rhythm created from running
He indicated for Niraya to do the same, though this time, he followed right behind Niraya to repeat his actions again for her to mimic rather than watch to see her stumble around awkwardly.

Niraya watches Qui'li perform his stunts as he made a loop around the roof. they seemed easy enough to do surely Niraya could do that. She takes a deep breath and takes off and attempts to recreate what Qui'li did. She runs towards the first obstacle and tries to vault over it. she gets halfway over it and her hand slips causing her to stumble but she catches herself and keeps going.
She charges towards the second obstacle and jumps grabbing the bar and swinging towards the opening. it wasn't clean but she managed to get through. She steadies herself and charges towards the third obstacle she was going full sprint and when she started to slide she stopped halfway under it. "dang it." She wiggles her way out from under it and stands up. She looks back at Qui'li. She was clearly disappointed with her performance. but Qui'li seemed to be encouraging her. She tries again and this time Qui'li does it again just in front of her so she could recreate it a bit better.
She tries to vault and this time her hand doesn't slip but stumbles off the dismount. She catches herself before she hits the floor. She stands up and continues on. Next was the underbar she runs towards it and clears it just fine. her small frame helps with that. Then she runs towards the vent she needs to slide under. as she gets close she starts sliding and stops under it again. "Why!" She was visibly upset by the fact she keeps getting stopped short. She wiggles out from under the vent and dusts herself off.
Vixie follows them as they performed this cheering Niraya on as best it could. It was quite interesting to see how much the drone could understand what was going on. every time Niraya make a mistake it looked worried. every time Niraya did something well it would cheer her on.
Oh. Niraya catches on quick. Qiu'li was pleased with how fast she was picking up the movements and maneuverability. Though she was still stuck on perfecting the slides... It was understandable, to say the least. Sliding wasn't a very common method to overcome obstacles, and even when done correctly, the wrong timing will cause individuals to simply stop right in the middle or bang their knees up against the obstacle itself. There was no real solution other than simply practicing and learning how to gauge distance. Aside from that, it seemed like Niraya was able to vault and underbar through the obstacles fairly well.
Qiu'li gave her various pointers while running her through it multiple times, such as proper hand placement, other forms of vaulting that involved different approaches to the obstacle, as well as making comparisons to the shapes of some obstacles to beyond the cities, such as tree branches and trunks, as well as boulders and rock cliffs.
"If opportunity seen, must take it. Do not hesitate, else will fall." Qiu'li said as he approached the far end of the building. He noticed that the building was connected to a higher tower that was roughly about as tall from the ground to the roof they were on, so if he had to make an estimate, this building attachment would be roughly twelve meters tall from the ground. Good thing they were already halfway up. If it were him, Qiu'li could probably climb it, though probably not Niraya.
Like before, Qiu'li looked for misshapen formations of the building that he could use to climb up. Jagged stone formations, windowsills, ledges, and pipes that could hold his weight. He pointed out all of them to Niraya as he began to make the ascent upwards to the top. Once he made it to the top, Qiu'li turned and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge as he waited for Niraya to follow.

Niraya Platinum When snow falls, Nature listens.
[attr="class","rainbow"]
Niraya runs the course a few more times slowly improving. Once Qui'li felt Niraya was ready they continued on. He seemed quite interested in a nearby building. He walks over to it and quickly climbs it stopping every now and then to point out the various places that could be used to grab onto. Niraya pays close attention to everything he was pointing out and began seeing a few possible paths she could take. it still took a moment to map it out so she wasn't quite there yet with how quick she needed to think about it.
Vixie flies up the building floating just next to Qui'li and watches Niraya. Both of them were watching her which added a bit of nervousness to this. She squares up to the route she was going to take and runs towards the wall. she manages to climb it just enough to get a grip on the first object. She corrects her position and attempts to get to the next one and she slips sliding down the wall. She squares up and tries again.
It takes a few attempts but she slowly manages to get higher and higher up the wall. When she finally makes it up to the roof she was breathing heavy. She looks over at Qui'li unsure if she should be embarrassed or proud of what she did. She catches her breath and stands up ready for the next challange.
It was a bit shaky, but it was progress nonetheless.
Qiu'li wasn't particularly surprised at the frustration that covered Niraya's face, though it was her determination that pushed her forward which he admired. He watched as she used what he had taught her and mimicked his movements. What didn't matter was the amount of times that she had slipped, but rather the fact that with each failure, she sought a new route or tried a different method of getting up.
With another attempt, she managed to overcome the obstacle and gradually made her way closer and closer to Qiu'li until finally...
She was right beside him. Panting, but beside him nonetheless. Qiu'li gives a thumbs up as he stood up and overlooked the area. The building rooftop was one of the taller regions, with some of the other rooftops being a couple meters shorter with a slightly wider gap between them. Qiu'li scanned his eyes, gazing at the various rooftops before turning to Niraya.
"Learn to run important. However learn to fall also important." Qiu'li said as he turned to face the ledge. Taking a light jog back to the other end of the rooftop, Qiu'li turned around and made a dead sprint for the ledge. Just as he was about to run right off, Qiu'li leapt off the edge. The gap between the two rooftops wasn't very wide, but the distance downward was daunting, at most.
Qiu'li kept his eyes forward as he leapt, keeping his legs and arm forward. As he cleared the gap, the height distance was roughly a couple meters. Just as he made contact with the other rooftop, Qiu'li tucked his body and rolled forward as he landed on his feet, then hands touched the ground, then displaced the energy to his shoulder as he rolled. As he tumbled forward, Qiu'li stood back up and turned to Niraya and nodded.
He demonstrated again on the other rooftop, but didn't jump off. Rather he simply just... rolled around on the other one to show Niraya the proper form of rolling after clearing a good drop that would normally injure one's legs. Qiu'li stopped to see how Niraya would fare. The distance between the two rooftops wasn't far, but hesitation could spell disaster.

Niraya Platinum When snow falls, Nature listens.
[attr="class","rainbow"]
Niraya smiles seeing a thumbs up. She watches him make a jump to a lower building. He was crazy making a drop that would break legs or at least severely harm one's aura. He lands and rolls with surprising grace for someone so large as him. she didn't see his aura flash and he was quickly back onto his feet. Niraya shakes her head as she gets in position to try.
Vixie flies over to Qui'li and looks him over surprised how he did that. It waits for Niraya to make the jump. Niraya runs at the edge of the building and leaps. She clears the cap but when she lands she didn't get a decent roll so she ends up tumbling across the roof until she stopped. her aura flashed a bit from the hit. She gets up and dusts herself off. "Qui'li your crazy man."
She walks over to him and most likely gives her a few more examples and she tries to recreate the maneuver as best as she could.
It might have been a bit much to expect a beginner to nail a landing on the first attempt. The fact that she hadn't sustained too much injury from the fall was already surprising enough, though if she suffered damage from just that fall, it'd be difficult to carry on as a Huntress. Either way, he nodded as Qiu'li pointed out the proper ways to fall, how to distribute weight from her feet to the rest of her body in order to avoid having just her legs absorb the shock from impact and risk damaging her aura more.
On this rooftop, Qiu'li saw various obstacles, such as short walls, ledges, pipes, and vents for her to practice everything they had gone over thus far. Running, jumping, vaulting, and landing. The main components of how to traverse freely in one's environment. Part of her blunders might have contributed to his inability to teach very well, though he appreciated the fact that Niraya diligently stuck to everything he taught her in such a short span of time. It gave him a good confidence boost, to say the least.
Drawing out a canteen of water, Qiu'li took a swig before putting it away. Once Niraya got a better idea of taking his teaching and applying it in a way that suited her style of movement and body, Qiu'li would continue on the lessons. There wasn't a whole lot more to teach to be frank, but there were some techniques that he hadn't taught her just yet.
It was then that Qiu'li heard a loud BANG right behind them.
"Hey! Who let you up here? We had reports of some hooligans loitering on rooftops, that must be you two. This is private property, you're coming with us."
Shit. It was the local Mistral enforcement. Rather, more like just private security if anything. Mistral police department can't be bothered to handle hooligans loitering around when they have other issues on their plate. Either way, if they got caught, they'd most likely be reprimanded and face consequences from Haven's administration.
Qiu'li darted around behind him as the Mistral Security Guards began to approach them. There were a total of three, each bearing a grey uniform standard of regular private security. Then, he spotted it: A wide ventilation pipe that protruded out from the building rooftop. He turned to Niraya and nodded.
"Must flee. Go!" Qiu'li shouted as he made a break for it. As he approached the edge, Qiu'li would lower his body and grab onto the wide vent on the ground, allowing his momentum to fling his body off the rooftop while he was still holding onto the pipe. As his body came back around, he would hug the pipe and slide downwards until he was a couple meters down and a bit closer to the next rooftop. Once he was close enough Qiu'li would push off the pipe and jump for the next rooftop, rolling as he landed like he had shown Niraya earlier.
This time, he wasn't going to wait for Niraya.
On the rooftop there were two paths, one with a large billboard and one with a tall chainlink fence and a bar right above it, showing just a narrow gap in between the top of the fence and the bar. It seemed like both lead to the next rooftop, though Qiu'li opted for the billboard as he made a run towards it.

Niraya Platinum When snow falls, Nature listens.
[attr="class","rainbow"]
Qui'li starts to go back over the various lessons they had gone over. even using some of the elevated piping to get Niraya to practice rolling more. She then hears a loud bang from behind them. Niraya turns around to see 3 guards. Qui'li starts dashing towards them and easily gets around them. It was time to leave.
Niraya looks at her drone. "Time to go! some unfriendly have shown up." Vixie's display turns red and angry. She could tell the gun was empty and charges at the guards. Niraya followed behind. The guards separated leaving the middle guy to duck from Vixie's head on assault. Niraya takes this advantage to vault over the middle guy and chases after Qui'li. She watches him quickly move down the side of the building and she was right behind. Though her sliding still needed work.
She catches up to Qui'li pretty quickly as the guards were struggling to follow. "Hey, idiots! You're not getting paid enough quit while your still ahead!" She was just taunting them as she enjoyed outrunning those idiots. Vixie keeps up with Qui'li and Niraya and dives at the guards every now and then to keep them back should they get close.
The fact that the guards were right on their tail despite having launched themselves across the rooftops meant that they weren't to be underestimated. Leaping for the billboard, Qiu'li wall-ran across it as he made it onto the next rooftop. Right behind him was Niraya, whom had taken what she learned and gradually putting it into practice. While he would normally praise her, now was not the time. Qiu'li merely nodded in her general direction to commend her for keeping up as they approached the next obstacle to try and shake off the guards.
"Waste not energy. Focus running. Must leave Cloud District." Qiu'li said as a series of network pipes were in the way. He dropped his body as he was about to ram the fixture and slid under the gap below before popping back up to continue running. Right, so long as they remained here, they would be easily caught by the private security, therefore they would need to end up in a place where they could easily blend into the background such as the marketplaces.
Up ahead was another rooftop gap, though the next rooftop had a set of stairs that lead down below. Qiu'li turned to Niraya if she was still behind him and pointed to the flight of stairs. With a running leap, he cleared the gap between the rooftops and rolled upon landing. Getting up, Qiu'li scrambled down the stairs, though instead of simply running down the stairs itself, Qiu'li would grab onto the hand rails and swing himself over the ledge and drop down each flight to cut down time simply heading down.
The guards were still in hot pursuit, though it seems like reinforcements were being called, now that there were six guards instead of three. It wouldn't be long until they garner too much attention and get caught. They needed to escape fast!

Qui'li and Niraya were trying there best to escape. though Niraya's little taunt was taken literally as more just comes out of the woodworks. Niraya spots Qui'li point out a staircase. Niraya went to it and jumps down it. She catches every level on the way down. Once on the ground floor she looks around. She could hear the guards were coming down the stairs. She takes off in a direction She had no clue where they could go to vanish but away from the guards was a pretty good start. Vixie stayed by Niraya's side ready to keep the guards back.
