Personality: Braun von Baer is a big military buff, a passion instilled in him by his father. He loves to read about guns, history, warfare, and technology, and embraces opportunities to flaunt his knowledge. Braun is torn between feeling like he's one of the most capable people he knows, and knowing that he can be one of the most unreliable. His ambition knows few bounds, yet he can't stay focused on a single idea for very long before leaving it unfinished and moving on to another. He tends to set himself lofty goals but seldom finishes anything, and if it does get done it takes much longer than it should. He is aware of this problem of his, and is going to Haven Academy to learn discipline.
As Braun grew up, he picked up a few more hobbies, including maintaining his car, whose workings he found as interesting as any rifle, as well as partaking in school athletics, where he became a popular teammate. His success as his team's quarterback drastically inflated his ego, however, and now asking for help is difficult for him. While he does enjoy the company of other people, going into Haven he has to learn that he is going to be relying on others to watch his back, and there will be no room for preserving his pride once he is part of a team and other's lives are at stake.

Biography
History
When Braun was growing up, his father served in the Atlas military and would come back with stories and memorbilia from his time in service. Braun would listen wide eyed hearing tales both from what his father heard from people he had met, as well as things he had witnessed personally. When his father retired from the military to stay with the family, on his 12th birthday Braun recieved a small-caliber hunting rifle. He was taught how to clean and maintain it, and the boy was fascinated by the way it was put together and worked. His father took him out hunting later that month, where they crept up on a deer and Braun fired his first shot. It missed, and the animal bounded away, but he was in awe at the power he had just unleashed, the resounding crack of the round and the jar of recoil he felt in his shoulder remaining even as they were heading home at the end of the day.
From that moment forward, Braun von Baer found himself more and more immersed in the world of weaponry. He recognized the utility and art of wielding a blade, but to him it lacked the same presentation as the rattle of gunfire and booming of artillery. His mother didn't necessarily understand the appeal of his hobby, but wanted to support her growing boy to pursue his interests. After all, her husband served in the military, maybe Braun would enlist too and have a successful career as well.
It was in his early school years Braun took classes in officer training, so when he did enlist he would be in an officer position and it he could get a head start on his career. It was in these courses he learned two important things, he was reasonably good at it, and he didn't want to do it. Sure, he was in the top percentage of that graduating class, but the strict order and hierarchy he would be expected to abide by were not for him at all. The lack of flexibility and degree of commitment were too much, and he was suddenly afraid he might not have a future with his passion for very long... until he heard about some of his classmates going to different academies to become Huntsmen.
A scout from one of these academies passed through, and Braun approached them, albeit a bit hesitantly. His knowledge of what it meant to be a Huntsman was somewhat limited compared to some of the others who were testing alongside him. While some of the people there had wanted to get in one of these prestigious academies for years, Braun was an army dropout getting on-board at the last minute. What he lacked in knowledge however, he made up for in ability. His activated semblance being as capable as it was combined with the basic combat training from school proved that he was a capable boy, and worthy of attending Haven Academy.
