Mistral's Region Tournament. A spectacle that came once a year that would give the opportunity for potential hunters to show off their skill to the professional four Huntsman Academies that existed within the world of Remnant. Admission into one of these prestigious schools was the first step to becoming a legend. To becoming a Hunter or Huntress worthy of the title. Due to the recent tragedy, leading to the loss of several Hunters, scouts were in dire need of prospective recruits. Thus this tournament would be a very big deal. This tournament was one on one, and sixty-four of the very best of the young men and women that Mistral had to offer were all here to show the world what they could do and make a name for themselves.
The bracket was single elimination with two sides, the Blue for the left side and the White for the right side. Historically, the winner of the tournament tended to trend more towards the white side for one reason or another so that bracket tended to get more attention in the opening rounds. Every round of the tournament would be televised with all the bells and whistles, and once the later rounds started most of the kingdom would be watching the proceedings with great interest. A good showing at the tournament meant that the next year’s students showed promise, and that the citizens could sleep easier knowing the talent level required to even get into one of the Big Four Academies of Remnant was absurdly high… and those very same men and women with four years of advanced combat training came out as fully fledged huntsmen and huntresses to defend mankind from the Creatures of Grimm.
The rules for this tournament itself were simple, the fight went on until one of the two entrants was either knocked off of the arena, their aura was fully depleted, or conceded the match. If both participants are knocked off of the arena at the same time, then the first one to get their entire body back on the arena itself is declared the winner. If two people’s aura drops at the same time, the match is considered a draw and a rematch is scheduled at the next available open timeslot to declare a definitive winner. There have never been two draws in a row, so it is up in the air what would happen if that were to occur. Each participant started the match approximately fifteen meters away from each other on opposite ends of the arena, and the match started when the announcer gave the command.
The fighting area itself is white concrete measuring approximately forty meters by forty meters raised about five feet in the air in the shape of a square that was designed to be completely flat but wasn’t completely. The concrete itself is scuffed and shows signs of use, because it was on this area that all previous tournaments were fought on. The damage dealt in previous years was repaired, sure, but signs of that repair still remain. The area around the fighting area is typical of a sports stadium, with rows and levels of seating arranged in a circle around the main event. Up in the air, there were also cameras rigged to rails in order to track and broadcast the action on a four-sided television screen above the fighting area to spectators even in the worst seats. The Mistral Regional Tournament was very much an event that attracted a large crowd and was one time of the year where people from many different villages and cities outside of the capital came together to watch the next generation of huntsmen in action.
This particular bout was part of the first round, which meant that typically neither contestant had a lot of knowledge as to what the other person was capable of. This specific round would be a match between a wild card and a member of Signal Academy. Neither had participated in the previous year's tournament, so it was anyones' guess on who would come out on top! Who would win? This was getting quite exciting! A true wildcard match indeed!
On the giant televisions would show the profile images of the two combatants!
Percy Minamoto's vivid lavender hair framed her cheery, freckled face and the crowd went wild! Her image inspired them all to stand and clap uproariously, but then they all paused at the other image. The image of Mucin Exgalian appeared and the crowd slowly sat back down in awkward silence...and partial fear. Would the brave heroine be able to overcome this beast? We shall find out soon.
Both participants were almost ready to step out into the ring and make their grand entrance into the second round of the 15th Mistral Regional Tournament. Aura meters were also on full display next to the images of both of their faces, with each one starting at 100 and going down in real time as each individual started to suffer damage. They were also both provided with an aura meter on their person as well, and it was their choice whether to use it and where to put it on their person if they did intend to use it for the fight! They were allowed to bring their weapons and one use of Dust in order to keep things strategic and to prevent anyone from abusing this advantage.
As the two would make their grand appearances, the announcer would begin their introduction. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Today we have the fight of the century! In the east corner, we have our first contestant! Hailing from the prestigious Signal Academy! The Lavender Lady herself, Percy! Watch out when getting close, folks, because this girl packs a wallop with her staff! Of course, good luck trying to even break her indomitable shield!"
The crowd clapped once more as she would make her way into the arena.
"And in the west corner is our Wildcard! Coming in at almost 114 Kgs. is Mucin Exgalian! He's representing his gang from Vacuo with as much pride as he can muster! That chain wrapped around his arm isn't just for show, though! That hook has some range and if he can't get you, then his semblance will. He's been known to muck up the battlefield...in a manner of speaking."
Once Mucin would enter the arena, he would already be swinging his chain hook casually as he glared at the crowd who booed at him. He would growl menacingly as a large green snot bubble would form from his left nostril and expand to an unbelievable size! It would hang there for a minute before Mucin would pop it off and hold it like a grenade in his spare left hand.
"Oi, girlie!" He would call out to Percy. "I'm gonna beat the snot outta ya!"
