[attr="class","nikki109"]This was funny. [break][break]
Somehow, when it was all said and done every single Faunus in the entire school was in her class. Even funnier was the fact that Colton seemed to have no idea that he had picked every Faunus in the draft, because his initial reaction was to deny it because the brunette literally didn’t notice despite picking them all individually. If the administration had made the exact same class rosters, it would be seen as horrifically racist and segregationist. Putting all the Faunus with the one Faunus faculty member was not the best public relations move, but the fact that it had happened without the person orchestrating it even realizing what he had done was just funny.[break][break]
As for the class composition aside from that, it could have certainly been a lot worse. There was nobody on the roster that she was aware had significant mental illnesses, and nobody on the roster who could be considered hopeless in terms of natural talent. Everyone on the roster for Class Green was someone she would have personally accepted if not from their current ability, then for their potential. That was fortunate, frankly, and it meant that she could progress at a more intense pace training wise because theoretically there would be nobody holding them up for long.[break][break]
Shadecloak was dressed in her usual dress slacks, white dress shirt, and black vest. For her part, the faunus looked as bored as ever with her green eyes having the appearance of being rather disinterested like this was going to be some meeting about what color the school was going to be painted or something. The room that she had commandeered for this homeroom class at eight in the morning was one not in the usual classroom style. Four long tables were arranged in a square, with enough seats at the bottom three sides for every student. Each of those chairs were nice, leather ones and had a clear view of the blackboard in the front of the room. The top section of the square only had one chair for the instructor when she decided to sit down for more lecture style classes, but today she’d need to use the board a bit more than usual.[break][break]
”Hello, Class Green. I’m going to start off the first day going over what you can expect for the rest of the year, frankly, because I think setting expectations is important.” She started, tone as bored as ever.[break][break]
”I have everyone for two hours, every single weekday morning. Eight to ten, this class is now mandatory for all students. We’re not going to do the same thing every day, because this is my free period where I have full control. We will be having some lecture style classes like this one where we discuss different aspects of current events, things relevant to you as a trainee attempting to get your license in a few years, and generally more academic focused things. We are, after all, an Academy and destroying enemies only gets you so far without knowing why you’re doing it.” Setting expectations directly and early was important, so there were no surprises down the line.[break][break]
”On the other hand, some days we’re going to be doing physical training. Your other classes will give me a good indicator of your skill levels relative to each other physically and combat wise, so I’m not going to have a lot of fighting each other in homeroom. What I am going to do, though, is ensure that everyone has a basic level of endurance and ability to function even when tired or in shitty conditions. We’re going to be going on long runs in addition to some mandatory strength training, which will not be cancelled even in the event of inclement weather. If you can’t jog in the snow, rain, or heat for an hour and handle that adversity, how can anyone be expected to trust your ability to deal with hardship and have the ability to save their lives even if it isn’t easy? For logistics reasons, I’m going to give you one day’s notice before every physical training day so you all know to show up in workout clothes and be ready to run until you puke.” If that last bit scared some of the trainees, that was good. There have been people deciding to straight up forfeit training exercises in the past because they were ‘tired’, which was fucking pathetic. The excuse that they were breathing hard and physically tired was pathetic for any huntsman candidate, because imagine telling the family of someone who died that you didn’t feel like saving their child because you were kind of tired at the time and needed a breather and felt like your tiredness was more important than someone’s life?[break][break]
Getting a piece of chalk, the faunus would move to the left side of the board. ”For today, we are going to go over some relative strengths from each of you. I know Colton tried to get something like this going, and I have no problem making it official and facilitating it. We’re going to go around, introduce yourself and say two or three things you consider to be your strengths as a Huntsman. I’m going to write them on the board, and add a plus sign next to specific things people would feel comfortable training others in, whether by sharing training regimens or actively training someone else.”[break][break]
”I’ll start. My name is Theloria Shadecloak, and what I excel at is mobility and marksmanship. I can run up a wall faster than any of you can run on flat ground, and for a longer time. I can share training schedules for anyone looking to improve their mobility, reaction times, or aim without the use of a semblance with any conventional weapon. We’ll go clockwise around the room, and by the end we’ll have a good idea of who we can ask for help with what and some ideas for sparring and training partners. Working with another person is almost always strictly better than doing so alone, especially if you can make it into a competition. Next!”[break][break]
As she talked, she wrote on the board.[break][break]
