No, it wasn’t the discount on coffins although that was good to keep in mind. No…it was the ad right below it.[break] [break] 'Local Greengrocer is looking for Mascot!'[break] [break] The young girl’s heart skipped a beat. That was it. This was her moment. Holly always had one dream in her mind when it came to brand deals. She didn’t needed to be the face of a new car, or some sort of high quality bourbon. She needed her face on food. It one thing Holly respected about Rose. Even though she was the face of a bland cereal, it had the right direction. Everyone needed food. Both the rich and the poor. If your face was one everything people ate, then you face was something people saw daily. Something they saw always. Being the food face meant that you were the face of a basic need. When people were hungry, they would see the face of Holly, helping them out and making them less hungry. It was a connection Holly wanted to exploit for money. Making food, and making sure that it was you who filled their tummies. That it was by your mercy that they didn’t starved. That they owed their continued existence to you. That pink hair and chubby cheeks were the face of your true saviour. [break] [break] It was perfect.[break] [break] So, on a free Saturday, Holly rushed to the store and was given a ‘test-run’ after she explained herself in an interview.[break] [break] “So, Miss Hock. Why do you want to be the mascot of Sellery Family Foods?”[break] [break] “I like money!”[break] [break] “…Isn’t that a little on the nose?”[break] [break] “I run the largest self-sufficient greenhouse in Haven. I am very serious about making money with food.”[break] [break] “Ah! So you have a little garden of your own?”[break] [break] “Don’t belittle my enterprise, good sir! I grow the best tomatoes!”[break] [break] “Well, that is actually kinda funny… I like your spunk, Hock! Do you work minimum wage?”[break] [break] “I will to follow my dream.”[break] [break] “Well then, let’s see if the costume fits!"[break] [break] Holly was confused at first when she saw the costume that she was supposed to wear. This couldn’t be right. Why was it so big? And Red? And…oh no.[break] [break] That is how it came to be that Holly Hock was dressed as a giant tomato, shouting company slogans while waving around a sign that read: [break] [break] 'THIS WEEK ONLY! 10% OFF TOMATOES AT SELLERY FAMILY FOODS!'[break] [break] Holly was bamboozled. She maybe could have backed out when she finally understood the situation, but Holly was nothing if not persistent. She was being paid minimum wage, and that was still money. Could she truly say that she loved money if she denied it? Could she truly miss a change to diversify her portfolio? It was just for one day. Holly could play the part for one day, and use this on her resume. ‘Played a tomato’. If she ever wanted mascot work in the future, she could say that she at least had some experience.[break] [break] The costume was bright red and cumbersome. It would most likely have killed a lesser man if worn during the summer, but with Holly’s huntsman training and the colder weather, she was mostly fine. Fine enough that she gave this little job everything she had. If she was going to be someone else’s mascot for a day, she was going to be the best damn mascot she could be. While she first just shouted the lines she had been given, Holly discovered that they weren’t exactly crowd pleasers. Holly started to give them that old Holly charm soon enough. Keeping the sign high the mascot started to really get into the mood. Holly’s natural bland voice was starting to get overshadowed by the hype.[break] [break] “WANT A BITE OF ME? COME TO SELLERY FAMILY FOODS!” [break] [break] “WANT THE JUICIEST MEAL? SELLARY FAMILY FOODS HAS YOU COVERED!"[break] [break] “IT IS RED, IT IS DEAD, IT GOES GREAT WITH BREAD! SELLARY FAMILY FOODS!”[break] [break] This started to turn some heads, and one or two people started to record the display of silliness on their scroll. While it wasn’t a busy day in the bazaar, the tomato managed to attract at least some viewers. Holly noticed this, and decided to go into overdrive. An improvised dance was added to the routine, as best as the girl was able in the costume. Holly was at least absorbed enough in her act that she didn’t noticed at first that four people were discussing something in the crowd before the rushed the dancing Tomato. [break] [break] They were too fast.[break] [break] Within a split second they had a hold of Holly’s sign, the girl still too absorbed in her dance to give a quick reaction. The people that grabbed her sign were teens at best, who laughed and ran away with advertisement still clutched in their little hands. The crowd didn’t seem to stop laughing and filming at that, seeming to find it funny that some kids robbed the tomato’s sign. [break] [break] Holly was not happy.[break] [break] That was company property. [break] [break] Determined, Holly gave pursuit while shouting on the top of her lungs.[break] [break] “THIEVES! THAT IS THE PROPERTY OF SELLERY FAMILY FOODS! I AM HOLLY HOCK, HUNTRESS-IN-TRAINING; YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ME!” [break] [break] And so, it came to be that Holly Hock, wearing a tomato costume, was running after four meddling kids through the bazaar. The girl would have most likely caught up with them if she hadn’t just done that whole act while wearing this costume. The girl didn’t have her weapon on her, nor was she actually keen on using them on kids for a stolen sign. Still, with the mascot suit on, no weapon in hand, and nobody seeming to help the tomato-in-need, Holly was not gaining on the children. [break] [break] Holly needed a hero. Someone who looked out for the downtrodden worker. The pursuit would have been through a fairly quiet part of the bazaar, and the Tomato gave plenty of noise as she tried to have her sign returned from the kids. Though, always professional, Holly didn’t curse at the kids. That would not be good for sponsors.

In her entire life in Vacuo, Primrose hadn't seen nearly so many shops as she had in all of Mistral. It was understandable- With Grimm above and beneath the sand, it'd simply always been more dangerous there, and with practically nothing in Vacuo being as developed as the area nearby Haven was, guarding any settlement from both Grimm and Bandits was a challenging endeavor. So, getting the chance to mill about a large shopping district and see all the kinds of wares - Especially luxuries and amenities, ranging from perfumes, decorative items, books, all sorts of interesting things her family had never had the money or need for - was quite an exciting experience for the faunus.

Granted, there was the fact of the matter Primrose didn't exactly have the lien to buy any of it. While she wasn't completely strapped of money, she'd spent most of her funds just getting to Mistral and into Haven at all, and had felt it a better use of her time to focus on training and studying than doing odd jobs. Once she felt a bit more comfortable in her position at Haven, however, the thought of taking on requests sounded somewhat enticing- The mere thought of it brought back mental pictures of her work at home, and the girl was always eager to make herself useful. Even better, she might be able to spend a little bit of her extra earnings on souvenirs for her family. Hm, but what would her parents even want? Shir, she could send books, new clothes or photographs- Those were all things she'd like. But Primrose was so used to her parents frugality that she couldn't really imagine what sort of things they'd want for themselves. Well, they'd never turn down necessities- Maybe soaps, more durable tableware, hardware tools. Even if her parents couldn't use them, certainly someone in the village would figure it out.

Though she really couldn't afford to spend anything on anyone but herself right now, Primrose nonetheless felt excited at the mere prospect of doing it in the future. And in the future...If she started pre-planing what to buy now, she could even work out how much to set aside in advance! Oh, the bliss of financial independence.
As she went to reach for her scroll, the faunus felt something - or someone- jostle past her, and turned around to see a few kids hustling down the bazaar. Before she could question what it was they were running from, a voice called out, demanding the return of something that had clearly been stolen.
Well, that just wouldn't do!

While nobody in Citrine really stole anything from anyone - At worst, neighbors would borrow some item or equipment and forget to return it - the village had been susceptible to occasional bandit attacks, and the damage that could be done from them was enough to set back weeks' worth of work. The situation in this case wasn't so dire, but that didn't change that thievery was wrong. After a glance to and from the tomato-clad individual further up the bazaar, and the kids dashing away, Primrose was hot on the trail. She didn't have her weapon on her now, but she didn't think she needed it. There was a much easier way to resolve this situation, after all.

While she could've caught up with the teenagers just on their own, that didn't seem like the most effective use of her time. With a clear enough line of sight ahead of her, Primrose took a moment to close her eyes, and felt out the area around her. After a moment's time to ascertain her plan, she opened her eyes and continued after the mischievous hooligans. Then, not too far ahead of the direction the teenagers were running, the dirt broke- A small line of crystal pierced upwards through the ground, not quite tall enough to halt anyone, but just long enough that anyone intending to pass through the way would need to stop or slow down a good deal to keep from tripping over it.
With no warning or reason to expect a sudden appearance of line of quartz right in their path, the trap worked basically as intended, with three of the thieves variously tripping or stepping on the crystals and taking a tumble for their troubles. The fourth remained standing, but stopped just long enough for Primrose to catch up with him.

With the young woman standing several inches above the trouble-maker, and having just caused his friend to take an unpleasant fall, the hooligan clearly had no intention of making this requisition of the stolen item any harder. Stepping just over her line, the huntress-in-training bent down to pick up the stolen sign, and after tucking it very firmly under her arm, headed back in the way of it's apple-clad owner. When the distance was closed, Primrose helpfully offered the sign back. "I believe this is your's...?"

The giant tomato suit didn't help one bit with this natural shortcoming. Tomatoes are horrible long distance runners and even worse sprinters, it seemed. They were good for eating, not for feats of athleticism. The girl was certain that she would loose the miscreants. Well, she was certain...till she was not. Because someone else was now given pursuit. Sweet, and without a fruit-themed suit to hinder mobility. Smart choice random person! Strive to be the best! [break] [break] And her best were crystals. Sweet! [break] [break] Holly looked amazed as the three hooligans in the distance where thwarted in their path when pink rocks formed in their path, causing them to trip! Holly had an internal sqee moment. Seeing kids fall was not on Holly's top 10 list of most pleasurable sights, but seeing people who stole from her fall seemed to be certainly up there. Solid eight place. Holly tried to clap her hands, but her bulky suit prevented her hands to meet in the middle. Instead the girl choose to express her cheerful mood by simply doing a little tomato bow. It nearly caused Holly to fall over, but she managed to stand up right when the faunus approached. [break] [break] Wait...a faunus? [break] [break] Aren't they the people who normally steal the things? [break] [break] Oh, the irony. [break] [break] The great guessing game was played in Holly's head. She had horns, so she was a horned animal. Bulls has horns. Does she look bullish? Not really. Goats have horns. Does she look goatish? Maybe? Cows have horns! Nah, they are just lady bulls. She has curves...cows are curvy. Do cows have those kinds of horns? Maybe? Weren't they more horizontal? Perhaps. Hmm, sheep have horns. Does she look sheepish? Nah, she looks more cowish. COW IT IS! THANKS FOR THE HELP, MISS COW! YOUR COTTON CANDY ROCKS SAVED THE DAY! [break] [break] Hmm, something about this savior was familiar to Holly...but she couldn't place the mysterious Faunus friend before her. [break] [break] Luckily, the suit that Holly was wearing hid her face...as well as the rest of her body, from being accused of staring too long at the horns as she made her inspection as Primrose approached. When Miss Cow stood before the sentient tomato, Holly responded to the question. Her voice was slightly muffled thanks to the oversized suit, but as the person outside seemed to be half-shouting, it was still quite clear to understand the words though it was hard to notice that genuine Holly disinterest thanks to the volume. "THANK YOU! YOU GAVE THOSE KIDS QUITE A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY!" [break] [break] Holly remembered that there were kids she still needed to lie down vengeance upon, but as the tomato looked beyond Primrose, she saw that they were already scampering away. As asking the cow to help catch them again would not be done, Holly was forced to just give a verbal lashing. She shouted extra loud for this, of course, and almost straight next to Primrose. She was shaking her short tomato arms and all [break] [break] "RUN AWAY, YOU DAMNED KIDS! RUN TO YOUR MOMS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! UNLESS THEY ARE DEAD, AND IN THAT CASE I AM SORRY FOR YOUR UNFORTUNATE LIVING SITUATIONS BROUGHT ABOUT BY-" [break] [break] And they were already out of sight. The tomato seemed to turn towards Primrose next, finishing her speech at an acceptable shouting volume now. [break] [break] "-BY OUR CRUEL EXISTENCE!" [break] [break] Holly nodded her head after dropping those truth bombs. A move that was seen by no one, thanks to the suit she wore. To a person that Holly definitely had seen before in her life...but where? The girl fully focused on the recovered sign now, holding out one of her hands to take it back. She turned slightly to her sight to better grasp it, giving a verbal affirmant of ownership. "TECHNICALLY IT BELONGS TO SELLERY FAMILY FOODS, AS DOES THIS SUIT, AND I THINK MY SOUL FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. I SIGNED SOMETHING WITHOUT FULLY READING IT, SO IF YOU HEAR ON THE NEWS THAT-" [break] [break] Holly cut-off mid-sentence. [break] [break] It basically screamed in her head now. [break] [break] YOU KNOW THIS COW! THIS IS A FRIENDLY COW THAT YOU HAVE SEEN BEFORE! REMEMBER! [break] [break] The tomato couldn't stand it anymore, and with the most confused tone the mascot could muster, she just asked the question in the normal shouting volume. "HAVE WE MET BEFORE? I FEEL LIKE I REMEMBER YOU FROM SOMEWHERE! ARE YOU ONE OF MY BUYERS? I DO NOT HAVE PRODUCE ON ME RIGHT NOW, BUT I CAN HOOK A GIRL UP!" [break] [break] Always side-hustle when the opportunity arrives. No way that was in the contract. [break] [break]
