TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
It was a Friday, with the students still technically off of school for winter break at the coming of the new year. This was an unusual situation, though, with most of those who passed the midterms as well as most of the faculty being off of campus for different reasons. The other trainees were off on some special huntsman mission, but everyone who did not pass the midterms by that point was shut down immediately when they tried to get information. They left before dawn on New Year’s Day and have not been seen ever since. Communication from the school had only showed that they were on a huntsman mission with the details confidential until completion, so there was a lot of speculation on that front.
Some of the more careless students may have leaked that it was a village defense mission, but any disclosures past that point would require specific evidence to support it. Professor Van Sange returned this morning from his Christmas vacation in Vacuo but has been shuffling back and forth across campus since then in a state that one might even consider jittery if his normal disposition wasn’t so… irregular. Either way, he was much more active than usual for anyone who cared to pay attention.
It was six o’clock in the evening, and in the dead of winter in the capital that meant that it was pitch black outside with artificial lighting being the only source of vision for humans. It was snowing pretty heavily outside, with more than a meter of snow outside that was likely only going to pile up even more overnight. The internet and cell service have been a little finicky, but that has been the case all winter and rumor has it that the snow and ice messed up the tower a bit and caused that particular disruption.
There were some trainees who were out on the huntsman mission, and still some too that have left town for the winter break to go visit family or friends. Indeed, the number of people both trainee and huntsman were much less than before. The Doctor was off in some remote village outside of communications range to provide medical support, Van Sange just got back from vacation and was currently the faculty in charge, Long was using Van Sange’s arrival as an opportunity to volunteer elsewhere, and Shadecloak was on whatever the huntsman mission was that the other trainees were on.
Still, there were also some who remained on campus and were present when certain things started happening. Those that remained came from the three classes of Green, Red, and Blue. Green for Shadecloak's class known for its intense physical training, Red for Van Sange's class which is known for the volatility of its members, and Blue for Long's class trying to impress to move up to one of the main classes rather than out of the academy altogether. For this particular stage to be set, an account of where all the trainees remaining at Haven Academy and what they are doing at this hour is required. This is the introduction that allows further events to unfold taking fully into account the starting locations of everyone involved. For this to be accomplished, a small scene must be played from each participant to establish where they are and what they are doing at six o’clock in the evening on a Friday night in the winter break between semesters.
Post once in this thread, which doubles as a signup for the Haven side event for those who did not pass midterms talking about what your character is doing. Event difficulty is Beginner+/Freshman- and signups with choice end December 10. What this means is that signups past December 10 will result in you starting in a location that staff decides due to the placement of everyone in the event already being established by then.

It was dark, cold, and generally unpleasant. So the best thing for Brigit to spend her time doing was climbing in one of the outdoor training areas. She had bundled herself up in winter gear to keep her limbs from giving her frostbite and to keep her human bits warm of course and then headed out right after dinner in a long snow slowed trek to the training areas that had anything she could feasibly free climb on. There was just enough light to see by, but not quite enough to truly see every single one of the handholds she attempted to climb which was optimal for Brigit’s need for danger and stress in her sporting activities.
Brigit had wanted to go on the hunter mission that much of the faculty and student body had left to complete, that was the whole reason she had joined the academy after all - the thrill of real danger that came with hunting grimm. But she wasn’t allowed to join, not this time anyways, so climbing served the extra purpose of letting off some steam and relaxing.
At least until the power went out and that kid Arrats started texting about something being wrong. The power went out all the time, there was nothing to be worried about.

The motors were silenced, quieted, as the airship came to a halt in the hangar at the station. Aboard the ship were several transport officers, including a handful of passengers. Mostly rich people travelling in an attempt to setup business or the like. Albeit, in the back of this carriage, sat a red haired female, quietly tucked away to the forgettable reaches of the airship. Instead of having been granted a regular seat in the airship, Rin was sitting on top of her suitcase. In the small overhead compartment, she had a backpack with the remainder of the things she'd need once arriving at Haven. Mostly the things that she'd need as a bare minimum for survival, should the suitcase be lost somehow. The trip had been mostly uninteresting. There had been a few rumors of flying creatures in the general area, plus the possibility of coming under attack, though nothing of note had occured. Which, for Rin, was a strange occurence. Usually when something massive was underway, things would go haywire almost the moment she showed her pressence. Little did Rin know, that the moment she stepped off of the train, things were set in motion several miles from her location. Things that would change the scenery of the night for the worse. The slightly elevated heels clacked with every step, as the suitcase rolled across the concrete in a borderline somber motion. Stretching her body tiredly, the redhead let out a drawn out yawn, rubbing her eyes in light dismay, looking arund for someone to ask for directions. Afterall, this was the first time that Rin had properly left home. So being all alone, in a strange place, with no idea of where to go, was both excitring and terrifying. Those emotions were however dampened by her current level of exhaustion.
The ride there had been a long one, with several delays on the way. The first delay was one of the wealthier travellers having missed his earlier departure, paying premium for the priviledge of travelling with the airship that Rin was on. Taking her seat, plus most of the storage space for wares packaged in sealed boxes, Rin was relegated to sitting in the back atop of her suitcase. Inevitably causing her rear to sing songs of pain and stress. The second delay came, when some of the wares, weren't accounted for. All in all, Rin had been delayed by little more than an hour, without much right to complain about it. Afterall, rushing needlessly increases the risk of faulty security. As if Rin hadn't already been aware that they were talking out of their behinds, simply to earn a little extra for bringing the businessman and listening to his whims in the hopes that he'd drop off a few extra coins - which he inevitably did. At one point they even considered having Rin wait for the next flight over, so the businessman wouldn't be inconvenienced. Still, all Rin could do was sigh, smile, all the while trying to keep her composure and kindness intact.
Finding the information stand, she only barely managed to ask for directions before they were closing. Buying a map of the general area off of the salesman, Rin politely thanked him, doing a short curtsey, before heading off into the snow. It only took a handful of minutes to determine yet another unpleasant fact. There were no one around who were willing or able to take Rin to the school. Meaning, if she judged by the map, she'd have to treck through the snow for several long miles to get there. Rather than drag along the suitcase, she paid to have it stored in a box at the station, packing the key down in her backpack, before beginning her travels off into the snow. Fortunately, the weather seemed to be acceptable. With a good pace, she'd get there in an hour or so. Plus or minus twenty minutes. Or several hours if she got lost. Afterall, Rin wasn't the greatest at reading maps...
