Proposing the following in terms of replacing the B-rank upgrade in power. Looking for feedback before implementing, because we have months before any character hits this threshold.
Option 1 is the only option that exists currently. This is a moderate and permanent power boost for your character.
Option 2 is intended to be basically a Death or Glory type attack where the character is left exceptionally vulnerable if the Ultimate Move (Name pending, open for alternate suggestions) does not finish the fight. This gives enormous benefits but also extreme drawbacks, in addition to having to be leveled. This leveling system would be separate from the traditional progression system, and would likely amount to about 75-80% of the standard leveling system due to the fact that this is only a one-turn boost.
Option 3 has no progression whatsoever and basically just gives Transformation Semblances their own version of a Death or Glory attack that they can access at full strength right from the get-go. While this is likely only able to be used for one post, I do not spell that out explicitly because there are fringe situations where you may be able to spare 60% aura to keep your transformation going. This is basically intended to be like All Might surpassing his limit on his quirk, being able to continue to use it for a short time except with significant drawbacks. The drawback to health is not as severe as Option 2, but the aura cost remains severe despite the abilities not being new to the character in order to counterbalance the fact that this is an ability that is full strength from the start rather than built into like Options 1 and 2.
Mechanically at this juncture Transformations would have fallen off a bit in power after being by far the strongest in the beginning of the progression into being firmly at the bottom, and Option 3 is a way to buff the Transformation type semblances by giving them an immediate power boost into being hopefully more or less on par again at least until Options 1 and 2 gain more experience. The goal isn't to keep Transformations the strongest forever, but to extend their relevance into even the late game builds by providing them with another immediate power spike that starts earlier than other semblance types that doesn't scale as well.
The intended power curves go something like this.
Transformation semblances starts stronger than everyone and gets close to full power very quickly with very little XP expended, but has the lowest ceiling. This lower ceiling is represented by the fact that the downtime never goes away and the uptime doesn't scale past D rank currently. This gives clear moments of immense strength, but also clear moments of immense weakness.
Physical Boost semblances are more or less a little faster than linear with predictable and moderate power increases the entire time and represent the middle of the road and most consistent power curve. This is the simple but reliable type of semblance where you're going to see immediate gains in every rank up you get even if it's not to your semblance.
Manipulator semblances are the weakest to start out with and progress in strength the slowest out of everyone due to almost being required to have secondary skills outside of their semblance in order to function and not just be wiped in the first post. In return for this slow start, they have the highest ceiling out of everyone if they can stick out the rocky period.
The intent is for each of these power curves to be close enough to still challenge each other, and #3 is basically a buff for transformation semblances to ensure that they can hang with others and enhance their role as the one who peaks in power the earliest with the least experience.
Upon reaching B rank in any skill OR reaching Huntsman Tier, you have 4 options.
1) Unlock a sixth combat ability slot that works like any other combat ability slot, providing one benefit and leveled as usual.
2) Unlock a once per thread Ultimate Move that immediately burns 30% of your aura and 30% of your health. This Ultimate move must be related to the character's semblance in some way and is mechanically three benefits leveled according to a unique progression chart only for Ultimate Moves. This represents your character sacrificing their body to limit break their abilities. Removal of drawbacks, such as a manipulator ignoring the aura drain on their semblance, is also acceptable in an Ultimate Move pending staff approval for more unique drawbacks.
3) Transformation semblance users get the option to take an ability that allows them to continue their transformation past their limit at the cost of 30% aura and 15% health every post. This ability does not level, and can be used immediately at full power. The damage to aura and health is not mitigated by durability or any other ability.
