1927hrs. [break][break]
As Arrats flashed a bright light from his semblance, the creature with the tentacle-like appendage continued moving further down the hall, while the other was momentarily stunned, giving Arrats a brief glimpse at its head, as it thrashed about in the inky darkness. Little could be made out, from his distance away, and the angle he saw it from, but it appeared to be solid black, but for a streak of stark white along its face and neck, with glowing yellow eyes, which flashed for a brief second before fading from view. It hissed violently, before turning to run back the way it had come, back towards the helpless intern. Arrats, however, was cold-hearted enough to leave poor Valko alone with the beast, perhaps even going so far as to let the man die. Who knows what ferocious terror could be charging his way, right then!? Still, Arrats did not choose to flee- instead, he continued down the hall, running towards the end of the line, the fifth room.[break][break]
And yet, as he reached that spot, what should have been a dead end, he would be greeted only by a dark room, devoid of light, and decidedly uninviting. What's more, the noises had grown quiet, at both ends of the ventilation duct- it seemed that, for whatever reason, both creatures had stopped running. Arrats was right to be on his guard- it was scary.[break][break]
Unfortunately, as he cautiously traversed the dark room, looking around for any sight of the tentacled beast, he would find nothing. The vent, open like all the rest of them, was empty.[break][break]
Suddenly, a rapid skittering sound burst from behind him, faster than before, and moving quickly outside the room! The creature had apparently crept behind him, despite his careful watch, and it was racing straight down the hall, far quicker than Arrats could move, even at a full sprint. If he gave chase, he wouldn't actually see the creature, as by the time he made it back out of the room, it would have ducked into the main lobby area, darting behind furniture, on a straight course for Valko.[break][break]
Valko, seeing the creature's approach from under his blankets, gave a terrified scream, looking away in horror as he began flinging whatever he could grab in the creature's direction- lightning dust, the tools Arrats had found, his hot pocket, his Scroll- anything to slow the demon's swift approach. [break][break]
As Arrats rounded the corner, it would be Valko's wrench that the frightened man flung, aiming for the creature. Unfortunately, his throw flew wide and missed its mark by quite a good little bit. Instead, Arrats would find that the wrench was hurtling in his direction, and although he was able to avoid eating the tool full-on to the face, he still caught a glancing hit to the forehead as Valko's improvised barrage continued.[break][break]
While it was no doubt important to catch the creature before it made it to Valko, the intern's fear-induced last stand was no doubt an obstacle that Arrats would have to be very careful to avoid. He could take cover behind the furniture scattered around the room, at a cost to his speed, or he could charge straight in to rescue Valko, risking being hit again by more thrown objects, including the remaining lightning dust crystals. It was a very precarious situation, although fortunately, Valko was weak as shit, so anything except the dust would do a bare minimum of damage to his Aura, and the dust itself would do no more than about a third of his Aura in damage, if it hit him. And fortunately, Valko wasn't aiming at him, just at the creature.[break][break]
Less fortunately, Valko was also fucking awful at aiming, so there was still a definite threat of being hit by flying projectiles. He needed to think quickly and carefully about his next move.[break][break]
Not to mention, the second creature was still unaccounted for, lurking in the shadows of the first room...[break][break]
