[attr="class","RDcontainer"] [attr="class","RDcontent"] Holly had a large cardboard box with something inside it! [break] [break] Some days before the fated expedition to a town Holly didn’t even knew the name of at this moment, the huntress-in-training had made a purchase in the city and had been carrying a large box around all over till she returned to the academy. It was a classic cardboard box without any specific markings besides which way was up and that the contents were fragile. The box was about a meter tall and rather bulky. The fact that a rather diminutive girl was carrying it didn’t help with getting it where it needed to go, but Holly had refused all help she had gotten from strangers on her way over. Even in the Wind District some people had tried to offer help with carrying it, but Holly plain up refused the help as she clutched the box even tighter. Like some sort of off-coloured cat, she seemed to have laid claim to the box and didn’t wanted anyone near it. [break] [break] So, when Holly was standing in the Great Hall in front of those two massive stairs off to the sides that lead to the higher levels, the girl looked a bit reluctant to go up at first. Her history of watching cartoons had taught her that people always fell from stairs if they carried large objects. Mostly by banana-related causes. She grew bananas. She knew that there were bananas in Haven. A banana-peel related incident could just happen, and it was all her fault for playing with nature! She needed to get to the forges to make an alteration to her secretive purchase. She couldn’t not go up the stairs. It wouldn’t be the same! The box was somewhat heavy, and while Holly was certain that she could bear the weight well enough, but she didn’t want to lose her balance. Seeming to have found the courageous, Holly made her way up with the box tightly clutched in her grip. The fact that she even thought that she might fall, made her all the more anxious that she would, In-fact, fall. [break] [break] While it wasn’t a banana peel that made Holly fall of the stairs, it was something almost just as stupid. When the girl had nearly ascended the winding staircase without a hitch without any form of trouble, she slipped on the second to last step. Because someone had spilled some of their drink on it. Holly didn’t even had time to register what it could have been. It was already too late to keep her balance. Despite her feet having rather thick calluses from a persistent reluctance to wear footwear, the girl didn’t expect to feel anything liquid under her foot that moment. She was already tense thanks to her self-imposed fear of possible banana peels, and it was enough for her too tilt enough to have the box in front of her pull her off balance. [break] [break] Now, if the girl was just any regular old pink-haired nineteen year old, she could have seriously injured herself. Maybe break a bone as she came tumbling, lose her teeth as they made impact with the steps, or in the worst case hit her head and get a case of the ‘being dead’. Luckily, and for more reasons than one, Holly was not normal. She had a barrier of aura to protect herself from far worse things than this. It honestly made her self-imposed fear of falling of the stairs a bit silly. Even if she leap of the roof of Haven and faceplanted on the concrete, she would honestly be fine. She had a guy explode in her face and she was fine. Stairs should do nothing! [break] [break] So, as Holly fell backwards and tumbled down a few steps of stairs, she was actually more scared than hurt by it. With her aura protecting her, little Holly just ragdolled for a few moments as her body was flung downwards by gravity. It honestly didn’t hurt that much as her head kept making impact with the wooden steps. Rose had beat her up way harder and had been way meaner than these stairs were! They never made the choice to beat up Holly with their sturdiness! She made it about halfway down the staircase before she had lost enough momentum to collect herself and keep from falling down. She grabbed one of the steps and made sure to hold on tight. More frightened than anything else, Holly’s mess of a hair hang before her eyes as she seemed to collect herself mentally by talking with herself about the experience. [break] [break] Alright, Holly, you are fine. All your limbs are still on your body, you aren’t that hurt even. Why were you even scared of this? You climbed trees for your whole life! You have fallen out of those and you were fine! [break] [break] It looked so scary in the cartoons! They always got hurt when falling down the stairs! [break] [break] The Faunus-Friends didn’t have aura to protect them! Of course, they would be scared of it! [break] [break] They seemed to be scared about a lot of things that seem trivial. Like, riding bikes. [break] [break] I am still going to wear a helmet when I ever do that. [break] [break] Setting a good example for the kids is worth having helmet hair! [break] [break] Even if your hair is already a mess regardless! [break] [break] Wait…[break] [break] Didn’t I have a box before? [break] [break] Ow crap. [break] [break] Taking her hair out of her eyes, Holly looked down from her prone position still laying on the stairs. Those big pink eyes looked down at a box that had fallen all the way down to the floor. While the box still looked to be intact, Holly was more afraid about the state of its contents. It didn’t have aura to protect itself! Children’s cartoon safety rules still apply to the stuff that Holly has! Standing up now, Holly rushed down the stairs, almost tripping a second time but who gives a damn! Now standing near her sideways-landed box, she kneeled down next to it to gently shake it. Oh no…that sounded like a lot more pieces than it was in last time. Shit! [break] [break] So, there Holly stayed for a moment, kneeling next to an oversized box like it was a friend she just lost. She placed one of her hands on the tops, seeming to be scared to look inside if the damn thing was beyond repair. For anyone in the Great Hall, it was kind of hard not to have heard what had happened. Beyond the sounds and squeals that Holly made on her way down, the sound of something heavy being tossed down a staircase was also heard. Whatever was in the box, it was solid enough to have made quite some noise before reaching the bottom. [break] [break] |
