It had been a creeping feeling all throughout the day. Well, not all throughout the day, more like, from around lunch time. Prior to that, during the early morning swimming workout, there hadn't been anything which felt out of the ordinary. There hadn't been anything to warrant this feeling of alertness. It all shifted around midday, when Rin had been in the cafeteria to sate her hunger and get something to eat. It was as if a pair of eyes had been watching her from some kind of corner, which had immediately sent chills up her spine, as she was picking out bread, cheese and a protein heavy yoghurt. Looking around cautiously, like she was merely looking around for an acquaintance or something similiar, Rin had been scanning the immediate area with vigilance. There were several that had been looking in her direction, which wasn't immediately odd, since the redheaded maiden was one of, if not the newest student at Haven. Still, the gaze that sent chills up her spine hadn't been identified. Perhaps it was merely the girl's instincts playing tricks on her. Perhaps the one watching her had no ill intent. Or perhaps she simply hadn't had the awareness to catch the potential wrongdoer in the act. The act of stalking. Oh god, did Rin have a potential stalker?!
Regardless, as soon as the girl was done eating, she hurried back to her room to get changed for the next acitvity in her programme; Weight lifting and generic physical workout, based on strengthening the core fundamentals. Stamina, physical strength, speed and agility. Though it had been apparent to Rin, during her hours swimming in the morning, that the burns which had been present on her body from the incident with Van Sange hadn't completely healed, it still wasn't a pain that she was unable to push through to get quality workout done. The burns had been wrapped in simple tape so that they'd not be in direct contact with anything causing friction, and then the redhead had begun. First, benchpressing. Then doing squats in sets. Then crunches with a light weight-belt held against either of her shoulders. Then fifteen minutes of sprinting through half of the hall, then walking back, then sprinting. Sweat was pouring off of her in streams, when she finally began unstrapping from everything and undoing the tape. The next part of the workout was the agility course. Simply going to run laps, trying to improve her time. Trying to find new unique ways to reach the top. Sighing softly, Rin took a deep breath. Staying fit, staying in shape, it wasn't for everyone. It took work, forethought, dedication and discipline. Rin opened her eyes, and caught something at the corner of her eyes. For the briefest moment, it seemed like a shadow had been watching her from a window.
...The shiver was back, strong enough to make goosebumps appear all across her skin. Instead of looking around, Rin immediately headed off, simply dropping everything she was doing to get out of there. At the gatherings, she had seen plenty of Faunus in the school. Alra had taught her, quite effectively, that Faunus were dangerous, untrustworthy and selfish. That Faunus boys could do unspeakable things to poor, innocent girls. Since Rin had not identified what had caused this reaction, she simply sought refuge in the first place she figured a pervy, good for nothing Faunus boy would struggle going. The female changing and bathroom. At the very least, if they entered here, Rin could identify the stalker on the spot and put up some kind of resistance. Closing the door behind her, she stepped further into the changing room, fiddling with her bag of clothes, getting a grip on one of her two Tanto just in case, as she watched the door with eyes peeled. Breathing cautiously, yet very clearly on edge. Because, unfortunately, the girl's changing room was currently vacant. The only one there was Rin herself. For now, the agility course would have to wait. With the way her heart was pounding away in her chest, and with how exhausted she already was, the agility course could be done tomorrow.

Holly was stalking another person with the best of intentions. [break] [break] At least, she thought it were the best of intentions in her head. [break] [break] Rin Hellebore. The new girl. The fresh arrival. The fresh apple. The… the person that Holly wanted to meet. And greet. The one person who she knew for a fact had no blame in any of this mess. The one person who didn’t know squat about Holly. The one person who hopefully didn’t know anything about who Holly was or what she had done before Rochdale. Someone who didn’t knew that she had vomited after Rose hit her so hard. Someone who didn’t knew all the things she had said in the public chat of the Academy. Someone who didn’t knew about the fruit baskets, or the other kind things that Holly had done. Someone who had no idea who she was. [break] [break] She was perfect. [break] [break] The perfect person to try and be someone different. [break] [break] No shared history meant that Holly could try and be whoever she wanted to be against this person. [break] [break] It was honestly a weird thought, but it had worked in the past to some extent. [break] [break] Holly had found out quick enough that you got to act in certain ways for people to like you. You need to be quirky, but you cannot be weird. You can be kind, but you cannot be clingy. You may voice your opinion, but you may not voice the wrong opinion. People wanted to only be friends with certain people who were in some way like them. Holly had done this for a long time. [break] [break] She had tried to be weird with Carmim, and just tried to be maybe a bit goofier than she otherwise would be herself. [break] [break] She had tried to play to Kishka’s sense of wanting to boss around other people, and had become her minion. [break] [break] She had been overtly supportive of Ryan despite his many shortcomings, and had become his girlfriend. Holly was able to be most like herself when around him, but it was honestly not who she really was. [break] [break] She had honestly been completely true to herself around one person only. [break] [break] And that person had hated her for it ever since. [break] [break] It wasn’t that Holly was completely unlike herself with other people. You just finetune certain aspects. Turn on different knobs to be a little bit less of trait A, and a little bit more of trait B. Get the right mix of ingredients to be the right kind of person. It had honestly become an automated process for Holly. She didn’t even need to think about it to make it happen. Still, some things had changed since Rochdale. [break] [break] Holly had a whole range of other knobs to turn that she didn’t know that she had. [break] [break] Like hatred. [break] [break] And dread. [break] [break] And weariness. [break] [break] And Holly wanted to see how people reacted if she was like that in conversation with others. See how they would like a totally angry Holly. Or a Holly that gave into despair. It was better to do it with someone who had no prior interactions with herself. If Holly screwed up this conversation in any way, she could always chalk it up to being affected by Rochdale, which was true. Rochdale had affected her; it made her think that this plan was a fine and justifiable idea. The only thing that she needed to know was some basic info about Rin Hellebore. Just see how she goes about her day. Just find out some details about her so that Holly could know at least something about the person she was testing out her new Holliness on. [break] [break] To that end Holly had been sitting in the cafeteria for some time until Rin had showed up for lunch. She couldn’t discover where she was during the morning, as Holly herself had been busy with harvesting the fruit and vegetables in Gardenin Club. Her own obsession didn’t take precedence over the club and the food it produced. People always needed to keep eating. Holly had followed Rin quietly and from a distance after lunch, saw where her room was. Holly had almost thought about heading inside of it and having a peek around. She didn’t go that far. Not that Holly had any problem with people coming inside her room, she had been made plainly aware that something like that was ‘not-done’ and could ‘get you in jail’. Stupid Miss Long. [break] [break] Holly had followed Rin towards the training facility, and considered her options. She could either train with her in the facility, or find some other way to keep an eye on her. Holly chose for the later. Not only was she not that known to be utilizing the training facility on her free time, this would also place her at risk. What if Rin Hellebore would see her and get ideas in her head that Holly was an active girl who liked to work out even when there were no classes? That would paint a picture of her, and it would ruin the plan! What if Rin had been the talkative type with her fellow gym buddies? They would start a conversation when Holly didn’t feel like she was ready yet! Both scenarios couldn’t happen. Her plan wouldn’t be perfect if Holly would enter the training facility! [break] [break] So, Holly went with the next best option. [break] [break] Spying through a high window. [break] [break] There was a tree next to one of the windows that shone light into the training facility, and with a little bit of plant magic from her semblance, Holly could move a branch to become a nice front row seat to the Sweaty Rin Work-out Video! Holly could see the girl bench-pressing, see her do her squats, and then those crutches with that weird thing around her neck. It was quite a weird order to do things, but Holly didn’t know much about all of this. Seeing that girl work up a sweat from of that exercise honestly made Holly…bored. She could see that the girl was dedicated in her routines, and that she seemed to be more a fitness buff than Holly ever was. The only exercises that Holly liked was climbing, and that was only because she was weirdly good at it. It was an activity that played into her light frame and weight. [break] [break] When Rin headed out of the training facility, Holly didn’t know that she had been discovered. She honestly thought that Rin needed to go to the bathroom. It is the only reason that Holly would rush somewhere that quickly out of nowhere. It was honestly not a bad place to finally meet her sweaty new friend. Holly had seen plenty of movies where girl talk in bathrooms with each other. It shouldn’t be weird. [break] [break] Holly stood in front of the girl’s bathroom and changing room for a moment. It was the closest place that someone leaving the training facility could use when there was a high need. She was wearing her normal school uniform at that moment, only slightly ruffled from sitting in a tree. The plan? Using the restroom herself, running into Rin ‘on accident’, try out new Holly persona. It couldn’t go wrong. Holly knew that Rin liked dairy-based products and that she worked out. Also, she was family with the other Hellebore girl. At least related. It wasn’t all the information that Holly needed, but it was better than something and Holly was too bored to wait for longer. It was now or never. [break] [break] The door to the restroom was opened with quite some force, though not too much to break something. With a small pause, the pinkette entered the room, surveying the inside for a moment till her eyes fell on Rin standing near her bag. She…she looked like she was expecting someone? Expecting Holly? The girl remained silent for a moment, as her eyes kept locked with Rin’s gaze. Her pink eyes looked serious as she took a few steps forward. Despite only being slightly taller than Rin herself, Holly tried to make herself appear bigger than she was by taking broad steps and making sure that her arms were somewhat further from her body. Holly never tried to make herself look imposing in the slightest, so it was one of the things that she wanted to try out. Coming near Rin, Holly would stop about 2 meters from her, leaning against one of the lockers like she was some sort of bad girl from a corny high school teen-drama. She would appear to be judge Rin with her eyes for a few moments, like a boxer would their opponent, before she would set up her most intimidating voice. It would sound like a weird mixture of trying to imitate Rose and Nasrin voice and inflection. “So, welcome to the shitshow we call the Academy. You did well out there, on your first day. Didn’t fucked anything up, at least. Good on you.” [break] [break]
It felt good to talk that way. Felt good to be a bit angry with your voice. Holly didn’t dislike it. People who like sports like some assertiveness, didn’t they? For other people to be confident, and all that. While Holly wouldn’t have acted like this before Rochdale, it somehow felt more like herself right now. It wasn’t totally an act. Continuing in this trend, Holly began to introduce herself. Taking on a spell of Kishka-ism into her voice now as well. “Holly Hock, one of the people who made Rochdale less into a disaster. What do you have to offer, Spitfire.” Was spitfire a kind of nickname Kishka would give? Holly wanted to call her Redhead, but that was too on the nose. So, Holly thought of other red things, and spitfire seemed to come the closest to something that had something to do with red and sounded cool. [break] [break] It was either Spitfire or Fire Hydrant. The first sounded both nicer and cooler. [break] [break]

The door to the girl's bathroom opened suddenly. Though it might be more appropriate to say it was blown open. A soft eep left Rin's lips as she backed up an additional step, hand still inside her bag, clutching the tanto tightly, her knuckles almost turning white from the tension. Though, what stepped through the door put her at least somewhat more at ease. At the very least it was another female, immediately lessening the potential crimes that could be comitted. At least to the naive little redhead. The other girl marched directly forwards in a very curious fashion. It almost looked like an actress on a stage to Rin, making her tilt her head slightly to the side, her eyes shifting from fear and anxiety towards confusion and inquisitiveness. The questionmark was practically painted across Rin's expression, as it seemed very clear that Holly had an immediate direction. Like the other girl had come here specifically to talk to Rin. The metallic clank as the girl leaned against a locker sent a jolt through Rin's body. That there person was definitely looking for a trouble. A bad girl, with an attitude. Though at the same time the situation had gotten a little goofy and awkward, without Rin being able to actually discern why. That's when the judgemental gaze appeared in the other girl's eyes and Rin seemed to shrink. Lowering her head, raising her shoulders while wrapping her arms around herself, avoiding the other's gaze. Before Holly even got to say anything, Rin spoke. "I-if...." Rin took a short break, before spitting out the rest of her sentence, clearly marred with nervousness. "If this situation is c-caused b-by me having made a m-mistake, I apologize." Bowing her head respectfully, Rin seemed like in a mixture of nervousness at the interaction and a remaining anxiety from something else. "I-I c-can leave immediately.. I-if you want me to, o-of course."
Letting go of the tanto, Rin took her hand out the bag, grabbed the bag, while stepping a few steps backwards, increasing the distance between herself and Holly by a few additional meters. Increasing the distance so that Rin felt more at ease; Like she had a comfort zone of her own. Thats when Holly began speaking. The sentences spoken, the energy with which they were said, the specific words that were chosen. This cocktail sent shivers down Rin's spine. This was precisely the words she assumed some kind of gang consisting of ruffians or bandits would use when recruiting someone new to their fold. Well, you're not a complete fuckup, so I may have a use for you... Grasping onto her bag, Rin began looking around the room in short bursts, trying to identify potential escape routes, because being part of some kind of gang was the last thing that Rin needed in her life. Thats when Holly introduced herself, by name, literally asking what Rin had to offer. While openly assigning her a gang name based on hair color?! Breathing rapidly a couple of times, Rin felt cornered.
"A-ah?! I-I'm sorry! I-I'm n-n-not that good at things!... W-wait, I meant, u-uh! T-there aren't m-many things I am good at." Rin just blurted out instinctively, nervously, stuttering, as her mind was racing through the options of things she could offer a ruffian without getting herself in trouble. Defaulting to the roles that she had played at the house, she just began rattling off things she could do. "I-I'm o-okay at cleaning, a-and b-baking cookies, a-and gi-giving massages...?" Rin's eyes were wide, as she just stared at the other female, the bag now held up in front of herself defensively, as if she was expecting Holly to walk forward, punch her in the stomach, grab her by the hair and dunk her face in the toilet. Afterall, those were the stories she had been told of how school life was like in the real world. Rin was not well acclimated, having lived inside the walls of a secure home for her entire childhood. Other people were very foreign to her, and thus far, her interactions had been repressed and cautious. Attempting to avoid any conflict; Especially head on conflict, if she could at all help it.

The first reaction that Holly got wasn’t exactly what she wanted. [break] [break] Having Rin Hellebore flee in terror from Holly’s mere arrival was certainly a surprise, but it wasn’t a welcome one. It would have been interesting to know that her new persona had this kind of ability, but it wasn’t the full extent of what Holly wanted out of this conversation. Holly would most likely have Rin leave if she had bolted out of the door. She had seen this exact movement that Rin was making from Ryan many times before. A scared animal that was trying to find an exit. Her boyfriend’s skittish behaviour in the past was at least good for something. [break] [break] Still, when Rin seemed to be rattling off things that could be of use for the pint-sized Hooligan, Holly saw an opportunity. Holly took a few steps forwards, though still being a good meter away from Rin. In a move that should honestly not be intimidating to anyone with any form of physique, Holly punched the closest locker next to her in a weird method of intimidation.[break] [break] There was barely a dent in the steel locker, and Holly would most likely have seriously injured her hand if she didn’t have her aura protecting her hand. [break] [break] It did however, made a sound.[break] [break] And Holly looked very serious while doing so, like she had just cut down a hapless innocent person in the streets with a quick blow of her mighty fist. Now looking sternly at Rin, she continued with her mix-match of bad girl voices. “And that was just a love-tap, sweetheart. You think that a bad brute like me would be interested in cookies?”[break] [break] Yes, Holly would like cookies.[break] [break] Bad Holly would not, so she kept her mouth shut about the offer.[break] [break] Now standing in the middle of the hall between the two rows of lockers, Holly would approach Rin slowly again till she was now definitely in the other girl’s comfort zone. Placing her own hands on the bag now as well, Holly would try to crack her shoulders as she tilted her head from the left to the right like she was some sort of cartoon beefcake preparing for a fight. All the while keeping intense eye contact towards the other girl.[break] [break] This honestly gave quite an audible sound.[break] [break] Not because she was strong, but because the girl had horrible joints at the moment. [break] [break] “This bitch has an itch, that you might be able to scratch. If your hands are better than your mouth, I might consider letting you off light, this time. I got guys at my at my beck and call, who would not mind giving me a hand in trying to hurt people whose face I do not like.”[break] [break] Continuing with her bad-girl persona, she would try to see how far she could push this. The threat about having people at her beck and call came off rather convincing, maybe the most convincing statement yet. Could she honestly make Ryan or Solomon beat up someone if Holly said to them that they had attacked her? This all felt somewhat good. It gave Holly a rush. Was that how Rose always felt? This felt amazing! Holly would now extend her hand to try and cup Rin’s chin.[break] [break] “You got such a lovely face, too. Wouldn’t want to break it.”[break] [break] And Holly has officially taken things too far.[break] [break]

Standing there, frozen, as the other petite girl was doing her whole intimidation spiel, Rin was consistently hit by differing statements and gut feelings. Half of the time, the things that Holly said seemed to be blowing off hot air at best. Other times, the girl was genuinely intimidating. Continuing to back off, Rin soon found herself with her back against the wall to the shower, cornered. As Holly slammed into the locker besides Rin, definitely way too far into the redhead's comfort zone, Rin closed her eyes, breathing softly, trembling slightly at the display. The sound wasn't loud, yet Rin figured that the slam was likely kept in check so that there'd be no evidence left. Or perhaps so that Holly wouldn't hurt her hand. "I-I'm sorry okay!? I-I do-don't know what you want f-from me! I-I'm new, I j-just w-want to f-fit in!! P-please stop.. I d-don't want any tr-trouble.." The tone in Rin's voice was slightly cracking as she seemed, legitimately terrified. The notion that Holly had several others at her beck and call seemed, to Rin, like the most clear cut statement that had been made thus far. Of course, since Holly was thriving in this place, where several were capable of physical feats far beyond what Rin was capable of, she'd be having allies and friends. There were those that wouldn't hesitate to jump to Holly's side if things came to a close. Even if justice was with Rin, even if everything that she said was true, there'd be no one there to back her up on the claims. It made sense why the redheaded maiden had been targetted. Easy pickings that could be thrown around as the predators decided. Lowering her shoulders, there was a soft air of defeat around Rin. The mixed signals that Rin received from Holly had also started making sense. Likely, Holly wasn't the muscle of the little gang operation. Perhaps the girl was a schemer, manipulator, or had some other utility that a gang could use, thus offering her loyalty and support in turn.
So when Holly stepped in, laying her hands on Rin's face, the girl had given up on defending herself, assuming that hurting Holly would make everything a million times worse. Cornered, frozen, trembling, Rin found it difficult to even reply. From the corner of her purple eyes, two warm drops of salt water dripped over her cheeks and onto Holly's fingers. There was no accompanying noise, only a mild difference in the way that Rin was breathing. Sick to her stomach, all Rin could do was blink a couple of times to prevent multiple tears dripping down her cheek. Biting her own lip to prevent herself from outright crying. The stuttering in her voice had stopped, now that she had accepted fate as being a cruel mistress. A few short breaths, the purple eyes looked down into the ground, as Rin forced herself to speak. The tone was so devoid of warmth and care, so devoid of personality that it may as well have been spoken by a robot of some sort.
"..Just get it over with and tell me what you want, Holly." There was only the lightest hint of snark to her voice. Just enough snark that there was a hint of aggression. Afterall, being beaten up was only so bad. Many times in her life, Rin had been physically hurt. Sometimes to the point where she couldn't even walk properly. If whatever Holly was going to ask for, was deemed worse than being beaten up, then Rin wouldn't hesitate in attacking. A cornered animal is likely the most dangerous. Well, Holly had backed Rin into a corner, and unless some tension was relieved shortly, then Rin was likely going to bite. In fact, had it been any person with slightly more self worth, that bite might've already been launched. At this point, Rin raised her eyes to look at Holly. They were blank, filled with water, filled with disinterest. As if the girl truly didn't care about what was going to come next. The bag was pulled slightly away from Holly. It was not her's, and one of the worst things she could try to do, was take the few belongings Rin had.
Those were worth fighting for.

Holly was having fun with this. [break] [break] She had treated this like some kind of game till Rin had opened up her mouth again.[break] [break] Till she spoke again. About being new, about just wanting to fit in. About not wanting any trouble.[break] [break] It were the exact same things that Holly had wanted when she had travelled to Mistral all those months ago and wanted to be happy and make friends and fit in. To be a part of a nice group of people she could call her buddies, and with who she could take and share secrets with and tell about how their days went. Just a girl, being sad and alone with nobody to reach out to her with kindness.[break] [break] Why should Rin Hellebore have it any easier than Holly Hock?[break] [break] Why should this stuck up bitch with a fancy name get any special treatment.[break] [break] Something had actually changed in Holly’s behaviour after Rin said those words and started to accept the situation. While Holly’s demeanour could be seen as amateurish and an act before, Holly seemed to look at Rin now actually with a different gaze.[break] [break] Contempt. [break] [break] Holly had to suffer for weeks…maybe months…before she was in a place in Mistral that she didn’t cried herself to sleep at night. When she didn’t feel lonely, or shit. When she had built up enough of a circle of friends that she didn’t feel like the most miserable version of herself she could be. [break] [break] She had suffered. Cried out when nobody came. [break] [break] Why should Rin Hellebore have any different experience of the fun time that Haven Academy was really? About how people didn’t really care for each other, or how people will try to pick fights with you when you only want to grow plants at night? Holly had not been treated with kindness but by a few people in those few weeks. Carmim, Niraya. Everybody else, certainly outside of the Academy…had been shit against her. Hadn’t they?[break] [break] Sure, people had begun to treat Holly with more kindness later on…but at the start? Those first weeks? [break] [break] She was just some Dirt-Girl…[break] [break] So…when Rin started to cry…All that Holly could see was herself being in such a situation if she had switched placed with Rin. [break] [break]Having her be the victim, and someone else the bully.[break] [break] Having her have this power, instead of being powerless.[break] [break] It felt good. [break] [break] It felt wrong.[break] [break] But it felt good.[break] [break] To actually have some form of dominance over another person. Not trying to persuade them to do something, no…to tell them what to do, and they just do it. No sweet words. No kind gestures. I point at something, you go there. I say jump, you say how high.[break] [break]
"..Just get it over with and tell me what you want, Holly."[break] [break] It were honestly the words that Holly’s mind wanted to hear in this moment.[break] [break] Nobody having pity for her, feeling sorry for her. Nobody claiming that they wanted to protect her, that she was some sort of fragile flower.[break] [break] Just subjugation. [break] [break] “Start with my shoulders.”[break] [break] Holly’s released Rin from her touch, and walked over towards the nearest bench. Holly went to sit on it, showing her back towards Rin. The could honestly have walked away at this very moment. Holly was not sitting in between Rin and the exit, but off to the side of the room. The exit was right there for the taking.[break] [break] The Bad Holly didn’t expect that she would go for that door.[break] [break] The Old Holly wouldn’t have gone for that door in this situation.[break] [break] Somewhere inside her heart, the real Holly wished with all her might that Rin would head for that door, run away, tell a faculty member what happened just now, and have Holly be punished. [break] [break] The Bad Holly’s face didn’t even move a muscle as she expected Rin to come over. If she would have delayed for even a moment, the Pinkette would have simply called her over. “Things will not get better if you keep me waiting.” [break] [break] And so the fall from grace continues.

The other girl was really pressing it. Going straight for the jugular, while playing high and mighty. The pinkette didn't know Rin, at all, yet she had the nerve to be judge, jury and executioner here at Haven. The notion of disgust and dislike all over Holly's face, it sickened Rin to her core. It was visible to Rin like abscess, blisters, cysts and pimpes. To the redheaded female, Holly was a tasteless, selfish, disgusting piece of human trash Though nothing of this was visible on Rin's own expression. The girl was caught between two nails. Even if, somehow, Rin could take down the other female in a straight on engagement, there would be more waiting just around the corner. It wouldn't even be limited to simply henchmen and friends. The academy would likely get on the case too, seeing as a new student had ended up in trouble within her first few days. Not to mention the whole situation with having found Van Sange dead in his home. All of this was infuriating, especially because there was no one Rin could talk to. Not a single person at this forsaken place that would listen and believe her. So, as Holly turned, Rin rose a trembling hand to wipe tears and sweat off of her face, supressing her emotions beyond this point. Placing her bag onto one of the benches, she gave Holly a short glance. The girl's voice was still broken into pieces, without any kind of emotion to them, almost like you'd expect the dead to wail.
"You'll need to take your shirt off. If you want it done properly. Else, don't complain if it sucks." Rin spoke, continuing in the same deadpan fashion. Rummaging through her bag, she was looking for two sets of oils. The first set was going to come onto her own skin, so that she could actually give a massage without feeling the burn in her palms at every touch. The other was a massage oil, which she was going to rub into Holly's skin. It even had a light scent, bought not far from Rin's home. Inwardly she was cursing at the thought of utilizing some of the few tools she had on pleasing a bully. Yet, the amount of trouble it could save her in the long run ought to be worth it. "You can lie your head in your shirt, I don't have a pillow with me." Rin continued, completely detatched from the situation. From before, where Rin had seemed like a nervous, cautious and careful little thing, there was nothing left. It was a complete autopilot to avoid as much pain and suffering as possible. Then, while Holly was getting into a massageable position, Rin had gone to an outlet to heat up the massage oil, all the while carefully rubbing her own burns with a simpler oil. In the little bathroom, the scent of pine and coconut spread like a soft cloud throughout the room. If one were to ask Rin, this scent was heavenly. It spoke of freedom, nature, beauty and warmth all in one. Like lying on the beach on a warm summers day...
Coming back to Holly with a small porcelain jar, heated and filled with oil, Rin gently rubbed an ample amount onto her hands. "Okay then. I'll begin. There was the hint again. Of loathing doing this. Of feeling robbed of her free will. Of being inadequate and out of place, not belonging anywhere. Placing her oil soaked hands onto Holly's shoulders, fingers gently wrapping around her collar, the sensation of a single touch must've felt fairly good still. Incredibly warm, yet not warm enough to burn, seeping into muscles in a slow and caressing fashion. Rin's skin, soft as silk,, the fingertips working on loosening out any knots and stiffness. To Rin, the wording that should've been used when offering a massage, was to be touched with love and care. Underneath it all, though, there was no heart placed into the actions.
Wordlessly, Rin worked onto Holly's shoulders and neck. Giving the girl a massage as per her specifications. Sticking entirely to her shoulders, collar and neck. "Let me know when and where you want me to move my hands." Rin said, from above. Though the image of wrapping her fingers around Holly's throat and threathening the other female to never again try to pull this stunt had flashed through Rin's mind a couple of times, Rin knew that it wasn't something she had in her. So the redhead maiden suffered in silence, having retreated as deep inside of herself as she possibly could. Despite having done everything to make certain that the burns in the palm of her hand didn't hurt, when rubbing something so intently with heated oil on her hands, it absolutely stung.

She now even talks like I used to talk. Without any form of emotion in her voice. Knowing that you are forced to do something against your wishes. Needing to do it alone, without anyone having your back. [break] [break] I know your pain girl.[break] [break] Holly simply did as she was told, undid her shirt, used it as a pillow for her head, and laid down on the bench face down. It wasn’t the most comfortable way to lay. Holly’s white dress was in no way thick enough to be a comfortable pillow for an extended period of time. The smell of this whole ordeal was also not that special to Holly. Her own room was a verdant garden of different aromas. Some of the herbs in the Gardenin Club had aromas that some people would never even experience their whole life. Holly was simply waiting on Rin to start with this famous massage of hers, and see what all the fuss was about. The girl was starting to even get impatient, but that feeling ebbed away when two warm hands made contact. Because when Rin’s hands made contact with Holly’s shoulders, when she started to do those miraculous movements with her hands, Holly had a whole new sensation to focus upon.[break] [break] Holly never had a massage in her life. The only thing that would come close was Holly rubbing her own feet after walking for a long time, but that was nowhere near this experience. Every single muscle that Rin’s hands would touch during the massage would be in a state of being tense. Her shoulders, upper back, and neck, would be a bundle of screaming sinews, muscles, and bones, that have never had this kind of release before. [break] [break]Nothing like this. [break] [break] If Holly could turn into a soft slushy puddle, she would right now. Just be a comfortable ooze that could just let her body experience this whole sensation. The pinkette would let out a pleasant sound, seeming to take extreme pleasure in whatever Rin was doing with that part of her body. Rin might have extreme contempt for Holly at the moment, the pinkette was in heaven.[break] [break] She was in heaven because she was mean to someone.[break] [break] Figure that.[break] [break] When Rin had asked where to go next with those blessed hands of hers, Holly’s voice would not have its fake-persona attached to it. Her voice indicated that she was indeed in a place of pure bodily joy at Rin’s expense. There was not a single threatening element to her tone at least, like she was some well-paying customer at a luxury spa that they deserved. “Just work your way down, Spitfire.” It was almost said as a term of endearment. As Rin would continue to massage the girl, and Holly would get over the initial sensation of being touched…the pinkette would just start talking. Holly liked talking with people. While she loved everything that Rin was doing with her body, her mind was still somewhat aware of the power relation between the two of them. Remembering the look in her eyes, the tone in her voice. With the same blissful sound to her voice, Holly addressed it all. “It doesn’t really matter what I do to become friends with you after this, Rin.” [break] [break] Letting out a gleeful sigh, Holy would close her eyes for a moment. Letting her body enjoy this moment as her mind was laying out what she believed to be the truth. “No matter if I apologize to you, no matter if you see my better side… Huh, you must not even believe that there is a better side, do you? Don’t answer that.” Holly knew the answer. Holly would have protested to that question once. If someone had asked her if she would have forgiven Nasrin for what had happened that fateful night, for all the words that she had said afterwards, for what she and Heidi had done to Kishka… she would have said that she would forgive her in her heart. Say that she would want to be friends one day, and that she could look passed everything that had been said between the two.[break] [break] After Rochdale, Holly was honest enough with herself to know that was a fucking lie.[break] [break] Something deep inside of her would always dislike Nasrin for all the shit she said to her. For her using every opportunity to drag her down to her level. For every dirty words she had used to describe Holly. Did she want the girl to die because of it? No. Did she wanted Nasrin to be in pain, or to suffer? No, not even that. She honestly wished that Nasrin could one day be happy. That she would achieve whatever goal her stupid mind thought was important. That one day they would leave this academy, go on their separate ways in the world. Find their own happiness, and that when they met each other 20 years from now at some form of reunion, they could look each other in the eyes, speak words to each other like proper adults, and accept that they will always hate each other, despite them being happy in their own separate lives. [break] [break] Holly would never like Nasrin, but she wished her a happy life.[break] [break] Nobody would ever give Holly praise for that thought, give her applause, but it what she believed.[break] [break] Holly did not know if Rin was at a state of mind in her life that she would reach that level, but she knew with quite some certainty that she would never in the depth of her heart resent Holly. [break] [break] The girl continued with her words, now that her train of thought had run its course. There would have been only a few seconds delay between her rhetoric question, and the follow-up. “You will never truly like me, I get that. Doesn’t mean that we need to sabotage our time here. Being my 'friend' has its perks, you know. Shortcuts. Things to make your life easier. Not without trouble…but easier…” Like some lazy cat that was getting belly rubs, Holly would stretch out even more lazily on the bench. “But how does the saying go? You scratch my back…and I’ll scratch yours?”[break] [break] Inside of her head, a very small and innocent voice called out to the Bad Holly who had taken control of the airship, and said that this was in general a dickish move and that Bad Holly should be ashamed of herself. Bad Holly gave that little voice a slap, shouted at her to get in the corner and wait till it was her time again to control this sinking ship. Bad Holly wanted to see how hard she could crash and burn this thing, and she was not slowing down.

Seeing the other girl enjoy herself was almost the worst sensation Rin could've felt in these moments. The thing is, Rin would've happily obliged to aid a fellow student who was feeling pent up and needed some relief. Rin would've happily given Holly a massage, had the pinkette come to her with an honest need or desire. Instead, all of this had been arranged via threats, pressure and intimidation. It meant that Rin could not put her heart into making Holly feel good. It meant that the voice and soft whispers of enjoyment weren't something that Rin could feel prideful and happy over. Instead, it felt like shackles were placed onto her wrists, pulling her towards Holly's back, working through the other girl's tensed up body only because she, through social conventions, had been forced to do so. Still, Rin began working lower, applying pressure on either side of Holly's spine, while never massaging directly onto it. Every time she came to the spine, Rin merely brushed, gently caressing the place with her fingertips, letting the heated oil soak in, but never applying pressure. Massaging onto the spine, while it could feel pleasureable, was more likely to cause damage than relieve tension. Lower, lower, lower, until her hands reached Holly's hips. At this point, Rin began working upwards again, taking this back and forth trip three times in total.
The pinkette was rambling. Whether this was because the girl had a conscience and regretted what she had done, or simply an acknowledgement that, while Holly truly was in power and truly wanted this, she lamented the fact that power worked this way, Rin couldn't quite tell. Either case it didn't matter much to the redhead. The cards had been played, the circumstance had been cut open, the consequences had come into fruition. There was a brief pause in the talking, Rin remaining silent as the grave, not uttering a single word, just working through Holly's exhaustion while her own hands were screaming in agony from the heated oil into her burns. So, this was Holly returning back into the whole recruitment spiel. Scratching one's back, offering favors, in exchange for favors. Something for something. For the briefest of moments, Holly might've felt just a hint of Rin's nails over her back. Hands resting on Holly's hips, before answering the little plea, Rin asked in the same lack of tone voice; "Do you want me to continue lower?" It was quite a simple question. It was reaching areas where some would find encroachment inappropriate. Holly, however, held the power and Rin would simply do as she was told. To her, it didn't matter much. The concept of inappropriateness when there was nothing inappropriate hidden in her intentions, would always just remain a neutral massage.
So if Holly wished for Rin to continue, Rin would oblige. Being significantly more gentle, thoughtful and slow around the other females rear. Working through the knots and softer skin. If not, Rin would stop in place, to reply to the question. "..If you had been straight up with me, asking for my friendship and a massage, you would've had both for free. All I wanted coming here was to fit in. Without a need to scratch anyone's back, as you put it." It was said so matter of factly that there was no doubt it was true. Besides, why would Rin have any motivation to lie, with how the power balance currently existed. "..So if you want me to scratch your back, beyond what you force me to do, you'll have to find a way to make this relationsship between us right again. Until then, I will kindly decline your offer." Regardless of what the result on continuing was, Rin would, after finishing her talk, re-dip her fingers into the warm oil. Flinching a little at the burning sensation. Moving to Holly's upper thigh, here she grasped a little harder. The muscles around the legs were typically the most used, most strained, not to mention the biggest. Thus, Rin placed a little more effort. Grasping around Holly's leg with her fingers, the base of Rin's thumb on either hand pressed down, rubbing in small circles. A few drops of sweat, mixed with the silent tears, dripped onto Holly's back from Rin's forehead. Doing this, while exhausted, was actually quite taxing.
Somewhere, Rin was even more confused. Holly was a strange enigma of things for Rin. Several different personalities seemed to be vying for control. Either that, or Holly was incredibly indecisive in her decisions. There was also the possibility that the massage had made the pinkette emotional and reflective. It wasn't uncommon when all the tension and stress left the body, for people to experience a soft change in personality for a period. Right until the tension got to build itself back up. On some occasions however, those small changes led to experiences and impressions that would stick with a person, even after the calming effect expired. Perhaps, hopefully, the words would've reached Holly. Perhaps, in one alternative universe where everyone wasn't a selfish prick, Holly would actually try to make this first horrible interaction up to Rin in the future.
Or perhaps it was just a hopeful wish from a girl who had had enough. Wiping the sweat and tears off of her face with her sleeve, Rin continued lower, slowly reaching Holly's calves.
When Rin asked if she had free reign to massage every part of the Bully’s body, Holly merely responded with a content ‘Hmmhmm’. The girl merely kept her inner eye focused on this amazing feeling as she was certain that she would have fallen asleep at some point from bliss if the two of them weren’t talking. Luckily Rin kept talking, and didn’t gave Holly the silent treatment. That would honestly dash Holly’s plan quite some bit. She would get her massage, but Rin would be left with empty hands. Well, oily hands. [break] [break] That hardly sounded like a fair trade.[break] [break] As Rin continued to take her stand her state her believe in friendship, Holly let out a very content groan. While this could be attributed to rear-related rubbing ruction, it became soon clear that Holly had made the sound for a different reason. While her voice still emanated from a blissful state of mind, it also sounded clear and with a specific purpose. “I am happy that you are saying that Rin. No friendship should feel like a hostage situation. You deserve better.”[break] [break] Holly would have said something similar to what Rin just tried to make clear to Holly. Like she needed that lesson, like she was here to learn something about trying to be a better person. Right. I am not the person here who is miserable giving a massage. I am not the person who is scared by a girl who couldn’t even punch a proper dent in a locker even if she tried. How many sentences were needed to get Rin to do what Holly wanted? Five. Holly believed it were five sentences before Rin was degrading herself by giving what Holly thought was an extensive massage despite hating the person who had demanded it of her. Holly was alone, she was about as tall and impressive looking as Rin. Rin even had a bit more meat on her bones than scrawny Holly. Hell, Holly believed that Rin must have had some kind of weapon in her bag as well. Maybe her own weapon, maybe something else that she could use as a weapon. Holly didn’t even have her weapon on her. She didn’t even have to give a show of her semblance. [break] [break] She just had to slightly punch a locker.[break] [break] And say five sentences with faked bravado.[break] [break] Holly would continue speaking at the point when Rin was busy with her calves. Not being actively busy with the other girl’s upper body, Holly sounded rather clear and to the point. “I don’t want you to fail, Rin. I don’t want you to be miserable here at Haven. Doesn’t mean that some people will try to put you down. Will take joy from-“ Holly stopped for a moment as Rin just massaged a rather sore muscle, and the feeling overtook Holly for a moment before she had regained her senses enough to continue. “…from trying to see everyone weaker than them on the ground, begging. You give them an inch like are currently giving me, and you will be busy giving massages to a lot more terrible people for the rest of your life.”[break] [break] Inside Holly’s head, Old Holly has taken firm control back of the ship after hitting Bad Holly on the back of her head with a conveniently placed fire extinguisher. The two had agreed when they started this whole trip to try and teach Rin a lesson, that they wouldn’t overdo it. Still, at some point Holly’s bad side had won out from her better side, and she had pushed Rin through a lot more shit than Holly had intended. Now seeming to have had her moment in the evil equivalent of the limelight, Holly couldn’t find much gruesome satisfaction in making Rin do whatever Holly wanted. The power had felt nice, but now that Holly had enough time to reflect on her actions…she had made a crying girl massage her out of fear of being bullied for the upcoming three years. Course correction of this ship was needed. [break] [break] “That also means that, while this does feel lovely, you can stop. While I have quite some people who would fight for me with tooth and nail, you aren’t going to be bullied or pushed around by me from this point. The fact that you even allowed it to happen, means that you are in a similar place that I was once in. Craving to be accepted, craving to have friends, or not to be lonely. Maybe all three? I am going to advice you something that I wished someone had told me all those months ago;”[break] [break] Holly would attempt to turn around her body on the bench, now facing Rin full frontal. Seeming to have little problem with this, Holly simply continued talking as if nothing about the view changed as she leaned on her arm while looking at Rin. Her gaze and voice would seem rather sympathic now, showing of that ‘better side’ of Holly. “I never visited her myself, but we do have a doctor on campus that can talk with you, you know. Mrs. Long has also helped my boyfriend through some crap, I believe. Some students have some form of counsellor outside of the school. Talk about what happened here, tell them what I made you do…make sure that it will never happen to you again.” [break] [break]

The redhead female continued to work through Holly, listening to the complete and utter ramblings of the pinkette's designs. The words that she was speaking almost made Rin furious. The girl's hands dropped to her sides, her head tilted forwards just enough that Holly could no longer see the purple. Rin's breath had become cold as ice, short and sharp like a dagger. Things were making less and less sense by the minute. This pinkette female was bouncing around between personalities and angles of approach to their interactions quicker than Rin could keep up. So at this point, the petite redhead had given up on determining Holly's intentions behind her actions. Frankly, it was like attempting to single in on a singular bee in a beehive, with all the conflicting statements and actions. Without so much as saying a word, Rin simply turned her back to Holly, both physically and metaphorically. Walking over to the sink in small strides, she quietly began washing the oil off of her hands. The cool water running over the burns, plus the heat of the oil disappearing, had Rin let out an almost pleasured sigh. All the while, Rin had not granted Holly a singular gaze, nor said a singular word. Walking over to the little jar with heated oil, she cautiously poured the remaining contents back into the bottle, before rinsing the porcelain jar with running water as well. From the way Rin was moving, one could almost hear the casual humming going on in her head. Like the petite redhead was busy doing the dishes after an average nightly dinner. The jar was then brushed off with toilet paper, before being packed down into her bag as well.
From there, Rin took out a towel and rubbed the sweat off of her body. Exhausted, tired, today was just one of those days. Haven Academy had an odd grouping of individuals. None that Rin had met so far, seemed to be an emotionally stable hunter. After the accidents, the petite redhead figured that nothing could be done about it. There would be some oddballs in the period of rebuilding and strengthening the core of the huntsmen in Mistral. Nothing was changing in Rin's expression or breathing. Cold, closed, uncaring. For a few moments, Rin froze, looking into the bag, trying to determine how to address the pinkette. Biting her lip, the gears were turning. Taking a deep breath, she still wasn't looking at Holly when she spoke. Rin didn't have it in herself to be confrontational, even when she had been wronged to such a degree. "...So you've claimed to be something you're not. Putting on a personality, an act, to teach me a lesson." The voice she spoke in was calm, quiet, cold and analytical. Calmly, Rin swung the bag over her shoulders, walking towards the exit to the girl's bathrooms. Stopping, with her hand on the door handle."You claim you don't want to watch me fail, yet you also claimed you'd be going easy on me. So regardless of which is the truth, you lied to me. I do not appreciate liars."
Rin turned towards Holly. The purple eyes had an unknown sharpness to them. A mysterious kind of atmosphere, as if she glanced at Holly and the pinkette was nothing more than trash at her wayside. There was also a sorrow. A pained sorrow. "...If you wanted to teach me a lesson, you could've done it as a friend. I would've trusted in you, listened to you, taken your advice and given you the massage because I liked you. If you were like me, we'd have been..." Rin turned her head to look at the door, slowly pushing it open to leave the bathroom. A soft, defeated sigh left her lips as she shook her head. "...You've hurt me, and I don't want to forgive you. So you can consider your lesson a failure. Cannot trust in lessons from liars. Cannot trust liars at all." The redhead was like a furious storm, yet completely under control. Well behaved and moderated. Still, the fury could be felt. The coldness could be felt. Like a creeping blizzard, slowly sinking into your skin, killing you when you were least aware of a threat. "...I did what I did to avoid trouble. To have an easy time. So since you brought trouble to my door, even after I went out of my way to stop it, don't expect my kindness a second time." With that, unless stopped, Rin would press through the door and leave the girl's bathroom.
At this point she was feeling rather awful about everything. This was not how she had imagined the start at the academy would be like. This was, by all accounts, an atrocious school start. Sigh..

The moment that Rin stepped away to wash her hands of the literal and figurative gunk that brought her pain, Holly just stretched out another time while still on the bench. She had done a good job. Beyond trying out how being this type of person, and how it all feels for Holly, she had thought that she was helping someone else. She was happy for Rin. Sure, she would feel horrible now. Maybe she will feel horrible for a few days. But this was nothing that someone couldn’t get passed. Something that someone could talk about, or discuss with others. Holly tried to place herself in how Rin would feel right not. Rin could use this moment as a point of reference. She was pushed into a horrible situation because she was scared. Because she didn’t had a spine when it mattered. Because she wanted to please other people more than that she wanted to please herself. Because she only thought that she could be happy if she did things for others. The next time something like this happened, she would snap back earlier. She would find friends because she doesn’t want to feel used and abused. The girl will be all right. [break] [break] This whole experience had showed Holly a few things. Even as she was more assertive, Holly could help people. Even if she gave all that anger and hate in her heart a place in her life, she seemed to be still out there to help people. If this anger did anything, it protected her, didn’t it? It gave her a strength she otherwise wouldn’t have. Would she have gotten a massage out of this deal like Rin had said? Most likely not. Holly would never have felt that feeling if she had been friendly, or weird, or supportive. Holly wouldn’t have asked for anything in return for her kindness. Sure, Rin might not like Holly, but Holly didn’t need everyone to like her, didn’t she? A lot of people don’t like Colton, but he is still out there kicking. Some people even hated Kishka, and she is still Holly’s friend. Rin will always be more wary of being used and abused, so that was at least a good end to a bad experience for Rin.[break] [break] Rin was taking a long time, and Holly was getting bored of waiting.[break] [break] Standing up from the bench, Holly moved her limbs slightly after returning to a vertical way of life. Rin had honestly done wonders with those hands of hers. Maybe Holly should find some place in the city that offered something like it? Maybe make it a bi-weekly activity? Rin had completely almost Holly’s entire backside and most her legs, so she was feeling quite relaxed at the moment. Hmm, better leave Rin to do her thing, clean up, and wait at the door to see her out. It is the least one could do. The pinkette looked at her dress still laying on the bench for a moment. Hmm, no reason to wear it. This is the girl’s locker room, and whatever Rin had used for her massage would properly stain. Holly would take a shower when Rin was gone. That seemed nice right about now. A nice hot shower. [break] [break] Without her dress on, Holly would stand rather nonchalantly over at the door. Not in front of it, but close to it that it was inevitable that the two of them would meet eyes when the other girl wanted to leave the room. When Miss Hellebore accused Holly of a thing that she was not, Holly would take a slight step towards Rin.[break] [break] A liar? [break] [break] Holly would look confused for a moment a first, but her face would turn into a frown.[break] [break] She was… a liar?[break] [break] Holly would pout. Like a petulant child. She would pout and say rather offended. “I am not a liar.”[break] [break] As if that was the worse thing that Holly could be accused of right now, she was looking annoyed at Rin, wagging her finger around in the air. “I did not lie to you. Our academy is a shitshow, you did good on your first day, I do have people looking out for me. I do want to help you, even if you will never like me! You may call me a bitch, but I am not liar!”[break] [break] She actually sounded genuine in both the sincerity of her defence and that Rin may call her a bitch. She offered Holly a massage! She could have just ended it with cookies, or began with not offering anything at all! Holly asked what Rin had to offer! She could have said that she was good at fighting, or that she had a green thumb like Holly, or had a nice singing voice! But no, she said that she could do three things and that she was not good at other things.[break] [break] Cleaning. Was not needed.[break] [break] Baking cookies. Holly didn’t want that.[break] [break] Giving massages. That sounded fun and exciting.[break] [break] Sure, Rin didn’t feel happy about giving the massage, but why then did she offer it? She could have said nothing, but she didn’t do that. She wanted to do something. She even had all of the oils on her person! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CRY ABOUT GIVING MASSAGES IF YOU ARE THAT READY ABOUT GIVING MASSAGES! I THOUGHT YOU LIKED DOING THIS! WHY ELSE WOULD YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR GYM BAG![break] [break] When Rin was talking about wanting to be friends with Holly, and giving massages to friends, Holly was even more confused. “You offered me to give that massage! You did it and you felt miserable! Then you should not have said it!” She seemed to not understand what Rin was going at as she remained silent for afterwards. Had Holly not in her way said that they could be friends? In a cool gang-boss and underling kind of way? That was how Kishka became friends with Holly. Holly had accepted being called a minion, and being given weird nicknames. SHE DID NOT COMPLAIN! SHE TOOK IT! And now the two of them were buds! Kishka took multiple fists in the face for Holly! That is friendship! [break] [break] When Rin said that you cannot trust liars, Holly seemed to change from confusion and slightly unhappy mode, ro unhappy mode and slightly angry mode. “Stop…calling me that word. I am not a liar.”[break] [break] She did not lie. She did anything but lie! If she had lied, she wouldn’t have acted this way! She would have tried to act fun and goofy to a potential new friend, while she was feeling fun and goofy! She would have done things that get Rin to like her! Adapted to her needs! Now, in this moment, Holly was trying to give her feelings a place and was acting upon those feelings! It made her into the truest person she could feel to be! Holly could still help people while feeling this way! She could still reach out and want the best for people, even if she was a bitch! That is the truth! Stop saying that it isn’t! Holly could be seen to get frustrated now while Rin kept her cool. [break] [break] THIS WAS NOT A LIE! THAT WAS HOLLY NOW! YOU BETTER ACCEPT IT![break] [break] “…Cannot trust in lessons from liars. Cannot trust liars at all."[break] [break] *snap*[break] [break] Holly would only hear the next words that Rin had sad buzzing in her ears. The faintest hint of Holly’s awareness had noticed that she had not used the word liar. That was good. Now I don’t have to punch. [break] [break] The girl would stop Rin by moving in between the new student and the only exit. Holly would…she would not look well. She looked mad, she looked frustrated. This wasn’t some feigned bravado or trying to imitate voices of the most assertive women Holly knew. She looked genuinely pissed. She looked genuinely like she wanted to hurt Rin Hellebore for a moment. Like she was but an inch away from actually doing it.[break] [break] But the bare girl did not do that. [break] [break] She just stood before the door for a moment, seeming to be fuming with her own emotions. Seeming to not be able to process that she was called a liar, of all the possible things that Rin could have called her. That weirdly seemed to hurt her the most, even more than any words other words that Rin had said. Mother always learned that you need to talk about your emotions with other people. Holly reverted back on that, as it seemed that someone was not properly understanding Holly. Let’s make this stupid Hellebore brat understand! Holly seemed to be angrily rambling. [break] [break] “I…I…I would only be a liar, if I tried to act like I haven’t changed. If I just did the same song and dance and hug with you. I did that with people because it felt the right thing to do in the moment, and so did this. Acting like I did felt like the true thing to do! I have anger, I use that anger. I have pain, I use that pain! You cannot betray how you feel, Rin! If I ignore my feelings, what am I? Should I just betray love and kindness when I feel it? SHOULD I LIE TO MYSELF THEN?! SHOULD I JUST BE WHOEVER OTHER PEOPLE WANT ME TO BE BECAUSE IT IS CONVENIENT FOR THEM! AM I NOT ALLOWED TO BE THIS WAY?!”[break] [break] Holly seemed to be struggling more with this issues in her own head than she was asking Rin for her actual opinion about the matter. If we return to the metaphor of the two Hollies and the ship they tried to pilot, it would have crashed about ten seconds ago after Old Holly had jumped the ship, and Bad Holly had poured gasoline over the deck and set it all on fire because she didn’t liked that someone said that her ship was dumb and she was a bad pilot. [break] [break] The girl, if not by some violent means stopped, would slump against the door and in her oiled up state, would slide like a emotionally unstable slug all the way down till her cheeks touched the floor. She still looked angry and confused, but her eyes would soon be downcast as she continued to struggle with unspoken feelings, Holly being unable how to express them. [break] [break] She was unsure, she was miserable, and she had done it all to herself. Because she tried to stay true to her own miserable heart and what it told her to do while having endured excessive trauma without having properly processed it.

Holly intervened, getting inbetween Rin and the exit. This caused the petite redhead to back up several steps, though her expression did not change. At this point, Holly had been pressuring Rin so far, causing so much trouble, that Rin was utterly and completely done trying to play these games. There was no rhyme or reason in how the pinkette behaved. Therefore, trying to accomodate wasn't going to be an effective strategy to get away from this unscathed. In fact, there wasn't a singular way to get away from this unscathed. Regardless it would cause bruises. It already had. Holly was about as stable as the first dust that had set off Van Sange's home. Crossing her amrs over her chest, the petite redhead was listening to the rambling, though it didn't take much before she felt the pestulent, undisciplined and ludicrus child that was Holly, got on the redhead's nerves. Feelings could very much deceive and be wrong, and testing one's personality was at the best of days lying. At the worst of days it was being downright malicious. Evil. Scoffing, loudly, Rin had been cornered for too long. At this point, the girl began lashing out, with Holly being the target for her frustrations. It felt to Rin like it was about time someone actually slapped the pinkette with a modicum of common sense.
"Oh, I see. So if feelings cannot lie, and I feel like you're lying, then you must be a liar. According to you, I cannot betray my feelings, afterall." Rin said in the most sarcastic tone one could possibly produce. Turning Holly's logic around on her in an instant. At this point, there was no stopping the pain train, for Rin had been fed up with the nonsense. "If I feel like I should kill you for treating me so incredibly poorly, I would be a killer, because thats what felt like the right thing to do, I cannot betray my feelings. But wait, if killing you felt like it was helping you, then I was also most definitely helping you, even if you wanted to stay alive! Fantastic. I can be a super kind murderer of all the people who wants to stay alive. That feels oh so right to me." The purple eyes were staring at Holly. It was incredible, honestly. Never in Rin's wildest dreams would she have imagined meeting a three year old in the body of a eighteen something year old. Preposterous, absolutely preposterous. Someone driven, or claiming to be driven, so purely by emotions had no belonging in a school like this one. "Even better! If that boyfriend you mentioned did something really bad, yet you really love him, which feeling is correct? The one where you hate him and leave him, or the one where you love him and forgive?.. One of the two is going to win, Holly. You cannot have both!!" Rin's temperament was rising through every moment, as she was drilling questions into Holly at an ever increasing pace.
"There are rules Holly! Just because you feel like sleeping longer in the morning doesn't mean you get to do that. We have classes and people depending on us. Just because you feel like being cruel to me is the fun and right thing to do doesn't mean you can just do it. Doing it makes you evil, Holly. You were evil towards me. You lied to me, either about intending to get me beat up, or having my best interests in mind! So those pretty little feelings that you hold so dear... They're not worth anything to me!" Rin was furious at this point. Yet simultaneously hurt and frustrated. Incapable of dealing with this situation appropriately in her own mind.
"We constantly have to do things we don't feel like. Just to be able to do things that we like. That is life, Holly. We betray our feelings every single day, that's a simple part of living. Just like I gave you a massage to avoid being beaten up. Doing something I didn't feel like; Being kind to you. To avoid something I'd feel like even less; Being beaten up. It's not that difficult to understand!?"Sighing, Rin began moving towards Holly again, this time intent on getting out. If it was neccessary for Rin to shove Holly aside, Rin would definitely do so. As gently as possible, so as to not hurt Holly, but determined enough that Holly would have to actively stand her ground to keep Rin in the room. "Not only are you lying to me, you're lying to yourself and your feelings too. Good job...
By the way, did you know?... Betraying your feelings or being betrayed by them happens so often we've even got a singular word for it... ... ...Regret."

Holly’s didn’t need any more shattering of her worldview right now to remain calm and collected. The girl had endured a lot too make her question everything not too long ago. How everything could go wrong in a single second. How many lives you could save in a single minute. How many people she could see die in a single hour. How many mortal wounds she was required to treat in vain on a single day. The amount of devastation she could witness in three days. Holly still couldn’t wrap her head about everything that she had witnessed, and that all still needed a place to settle. In that adaptation period she had acted out irrationally, but Holly’s world view wasn’t exactly built on logic. She wasn’t very good at using it as most people did. It never seemed to be preferable above using your heart to guide what you needed to do. You do things that feel right to do in the moment. Mostly that had brought Holly forward. Sometimes backwards, but mostly forwards. It had brought her friends, it had made her enemies. It had pulled her away from her family, it had given her a boyfriend. It had brought her joy, it had brought her misery. It had made her want to do the good thing, and at this moment it made her try the good thing in a not so pleasant way. [break] [break] Rin pulling away the few strings holding Holly together must have felt nice, and rewarding, but as Holly looked at Rin speaking it was not hard to note that the balance of power had quite shifted. Big eyes looked up at Rin, hints of anger being now more replaced with the confusion of her inner struggle. There was still anger on the pinkette’s face, but it was significantly less when Rin had brought forth her killer argument. While Rin was speaking about a rather hypothetical situation to explain the lapse in logic that Holly had made, her overactive mind just tried to make sense with her experience. Lacking the rationale at the moment to facilitate a high-school logical argument in her state, she reverted back on trying to understand what Rin was saying with something that had happened in Holly’s direct past to see if it all fitted.[break] [break] Qiu’li had killed people.[break] [break] Indirectly he had ensured that many people had been killed. [break] [break] Qiu’li… the super kind murderer of all the people who want to stay alive?[break] [break] That…that didn’t sound right.[break] [break] You… you…[break] [break] Even if killing people feels right, you should not do it.[break] [break] Other people have emotions, hopes and dreams.[break] [break] Other people don’t feel right because of it, because Rin had said that they wanted to stay alive.[break] [break] Doing all that would keep them from achieving their own wants and needs.[break] [break] Like Holly had done to Rin.[break] [break] Had she done that?[break] [break] Rin could have left. Could have said that she didn’t wanted any of this. She did not. She…she either wanted this all to happen, or she…no. She didn’t had the strength to say no. That was what Holly had tried to show Rin. To not be abused like this. Yes, she wanted to help Rin. Help her by showing this to her. Holly didn’t take away Rin’s choice to follow her hopes and dreams. She could have left when she wanted. She could have spoken up like she is doing now. Holly had done that. She had helped her. Shown her that she needed to show more spine. More spine to survive Nasrin. To survive things like Rochdale. To help her…to help her… Holly wanted to say this all to Rin, to convince her of Holly’s opinion about this all. To continue the conversation. Try and show the error in Rin’s point of view. That cold and heartless point of view.[break] [break] Holly was still trying to process things in her normally quicker thinking head before Rin had brought up her next wonderful example. While Holly seemed like she was somehow trying to follow what Rin was saying from the ground, that quite literally changed when the word ‘boyfriend’ was uttered.[break] [break] "Even better! If that boyfriend you mentioned did something really bad, yet you really love him, which feeling is correct?” Holly spoke the name softly, as the corners of her eyes were now starting to get wet.[break] [break] “Ryan…”[break] [break] Ryan.[break] [break] Ryan had ignored Holly for months, ignored her feelings for months, but she still loved him.[break] [break] She loved him.[break] [break] She loved him unconditionally till that day.[break] [break] Ryan had tried to kill himself.[break] [break] Tried to blow his own brains out.[break] [break] While not telling Holly.[break] [break] Leaving without telling anyone.[break] [break] While not telling his girlfriend.[break] [break] She was ready to accept his death.[break] [break] She was ready to leave him after he didn’t do it.[break] [break] She still loved him.[break] [break] She needed to leave.[break] [break] She loved him.[break] [break] Leave.[break] [break] Love.[break] [break] Leave.[break] [break] Love.[break] [break] Despite not seeming to be the more powerful argument compared to the murderer question, Holly seemed to not properly shut down for a few seconds after Rin’s next attempt to show Holly the error of her way. The fact that she had loved someone who so utterly could betray their relationship for most of it. Ryan had been one of the first people who had made Holly feel like her time in Haven could be all right. He had also been the person who had brought her to one of her lowest points before Rochdale. By trying to shoot himself with that gun before the monument. In broad daylight. And him telling her afterwards that he loved her. For the first time in months. The words that she needed to hear for all that time. [break] [break] Said for the first time after he had almost blown his own brains out and leaving her alone.[break] [break] Was what he had said real?[break] [break] What would keep him from doing the same thing another time?[break] [break] He said that he wouldn’t. That he would be there for her no matter what.[break] [break] But he wasn’t there in Rochdale. He wasn’t there when Holly needed him. He didn’t go on the mission. [break] [break] Visually, Holly would rapidly deteriorate in how collected she was. While she was first only seeming to struggle, she seemed to be going into a slight shock at the moment as her breathing got more and more irregular. It wasn’t enough to be called a full on panic attack, but because the girl was as exposed as she could be, the irregular rising of her chest was easily noticeable. Her arms were clutched around her waist as she seemed to be squeezing herself to get some form of grip over her mental state. Her internal struggle made manifest in her actions, all that she could do was mutter softly, seeming to have lost all fight to resist whatever Rin was saying at the moment. The pink girl only responded when Rin was trying to touch her. When skin made contact with skin. [break] [break] Startled, Holly looked up from the ground. Big teary eyes looked up at Rin. Despite being in such a position of power moments ago, nothing was left of that now. Despair and confusion had overtaken Holly’s heart at this moment, and seeming to be true to her philosophy, she seemed to have little room to act anyway else. No way to use logic to get a grip on those feelings, no way to banish them and replace them with something else.[break] [break] She seemed powerless to stop herself from being powerless.[break] [break] Powerless because of her feelings for a single boy. [break] [break] What a wretched creature. [break] [break] Feelings did seem to betray her. One moment they gave her power, gave her a rush. The other moment they had her sitting buck-naked on the ground having a crisis. Holly was slowly but surely moved out of the way, her slippery behinds allowing Rin to get the sad excuse of a Huntress out of the way. Holly didn’t struggle. Didn’t want to struggle. Didn’t believed that she was allowed to struggle. After being slid away far enough for Rin to step out of that room victorious, Holly seemed to have some parting words. There was no bravado to her words. None of that earlier commitment to being a ‘bad bitch’. She sounded utterly defeated in her spirit. No sense of pre-text or the mental fortitude to lie. Seeming to be stripped of any sense of self-worth after being given a brutal moment of reflection, the real Holly seemed to have come out. [break] [break] “I… hope you remain miserable and weak… I hope that people will continue to abuse you… I hope that you are sad for every moment of you time here. I hope that you regret ever stepping foot in this place, and that you cry when you go to bed and wake up in the morning. I hope that you become as miserable as I am right now. As I am not truly happy in this place, I hope you do not find it. I hope you cause yourself to feel like Haven is your prison… like it is mine. That is the quickest way out of this place. Without shame. Without letting people down. To let this place consume you till they have no other option than to spit you out. To be free of this awful path.”[break] [break] It was uncertain what part of that statement was a threat, a self-fulfilling prophecy, and what was a plea for help. [break] [break] Whatever is was meant to be, now two people had seen the true worth of Holly when pushed. [break] [break] A wretched creature.

Rin stood there, quietly, listening. Observing. Watching. To see this girl come apart so easily almost made the redhead scoff. Yet, she did not do so. The words that were spat at Rin from the pinkette spoke so many different things to her. There were so many nuances in the things that were spoken. It was something she'd need to properly chew through at a later point in time. What it inevitably boiled down to for Rin, for the time being, came out somewhat close to a singular sentence. I hope that your suffering is quick and makes you leave, because there's nothing else than suffering here. Twisting and turning it a little, there were several other meanings to it, though the one currently spoken was the most obvious one to Rin, for the time being. The purple eyes looked at Holly in a different light. The power in their interaction had completely shifted at this point. Even Rin was aware that she had the upper hand in every which way, while Holly was crumbling apart at the seams. A strong facade yet lacking backbone. Perhaps the exact opposite of Rin, who struggled to keep even the semblance of a facade up, yet her backbone when pushed seemed unbreakable. Never really had Rin reached a point where she had crumbled or given up, even if she had been broken and torn to shreds. Perhaps that was a strength in and of itself. Rin was not sure.
"That's what being a huntress is, Holly. To walk a miserable path, so that we can ensure others will not have to. Because we, as huntresses, love people so dearly, that we wish they would never suffer the way we experience."
Rin lowered herself a little, keeping around Holly's height. Continuing to speak, there was a hint of fury within Rin's words. A glistening flame inside her eyes. Regardless of how weak Holly was currently being, the girl had done something horrible to Rin. The girl could not simply forgive and forget, especially not when the person who had done said horrible acts hadn't even attempted to apologize. Therefore, Rin continued, currently hammering in her own beliefs into Holly with every spoken sentence. Each word loaded with distaste, disgust and pity.
"Your love for life is weak, Holly. Your love for your boyfriend is weak. That is, if those feelings weren't all lies too." This conversation was done. Rin would make sure to report what had happened here to someone, at some point. To ensure that Holly never repeated this offense to anyone. While also reporting to the school doctor that things inside the pinkette seemed so broken that she hardly functioned as a human being, let alone a huntsman. Still, this anger, this emotion, caused Rin to step a little further. To explain a little about herself. About suffering, sacrifice and her semblance.
"My semblance... To activate, my semblance requires that I suffer, willingly. That I fight against my natural instinct to survive, lowering my aura. I was always cursed with suffering, Holly. Cursed since the day I was born...
...Yet I am sure I will find happiness, cursed or not, knowing I protected that which matters most to me..." There was a short pause, as Rin stretched to her full length, viewing Holly for a moment. Shaking her head side to side, she offered Holly a final piece of advice. "Once you stop being an overgrown child, you should try apologizing for being such a bitch..."
With that, Rin stepped through the door, leaving Holly behind, as she made sure to close the door behind her - not wanting to reveal the naked girl to the world otuside. There had been several other things on Rin's mind. Pretending to record Holly, to force the pinkette into sobering up from her emotional tantrum. Getting angry with Holly and striking her for all the horrible things she had done, the mindgames she had played. In the end, it seemed pointless to Rin. Making the pinkette suffer, when she was already suffering, would achieve nothing. Instead, she left Holly, warm and comfortable after the massage. Body probably light as a feather and relaxed, yet her mind racing. That alone would be enough punishment.
