TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
Despite having been a month after the attack Haven was still a chaotic mess and it was no fun to be there anymore. People were still moping around the hallways and in-fights between students were becoming increasingly common. Usually Ruqa would be all for that but it was all drama which she was going to keep her neck out of if she could help it. All her favourite hanging out spots on campus were wrecked so she couldn’t go there and she had no idea what her friends were up to, seemingly caught up in their own problems. It really wasn’t any of her business and unless someone addressed her personally Ruqa decided she wasn’t going to get involved.
So the only thing she could think to do was go drinking! Still in her Haven uniform, dress shirt and skirt included, Ruqa pops down to the Ground District, looking for a seedy bar that either didn’t card or had a good reputation with hunters. And she knew just the place, The Cutting Edge Pub, a little alehouse that was infamous for a hot second with old news of a fight between hunters and was more or less recovered from any battle damage. Or not, Ruqa couldn’t really tell given the decorations which made it hard to tell if it was shoddy repairs or just cheap furniture. Apparently the place used to be a forge or smithy and the newest owner tried to convert it into a bar. “Tried” being the operative word. It was the attempt at the the idea of a bar but really it was just a crowded room full of cheap chairs for drunks to fill.
“For fucks sake...” a rough voice mumbled.
Ruqa glanced over and met eyes with the bartender which looked less than pleased which she returned with a wry smile.
A stout man in an apron leaned across the bar and growled. “Tch another hunter eh? Got any more friends I should be warned about? If you want to cause trouble there’s a bloke down the road that you should visit. Not here.”
Ruqa waved him off “Nah nothing like that. Just wanted to get a drink before I head back for the night. How about it, eh?”
Francis snorted and turned his back to her “Tch. Grab a seat then. But don’t get comfy, eh?”
Ruqa grinned at him and went over to a seat by the bar. Francis seemed rough but it seemed like even though some Haven trainees started some shit, scaring away a bit of business the guy still didn’t turn away students. Ballsy move for a civilian, although he could be an ex-hunter too for the way he held himself. Brave enough not to put up with shit from aura enhanced teenagers that's for sure.
“So… how’s Haven going on?” Francis mumbled while polishing a glass, not quite looking at her. “...Not sure what you kids are up to. I’ve never heard of an accident in Haven like that before. Just crazy.”
“Nah it’s just quiet now. First years are all safe in their beds. Don’t worry about it man.” Ruqa said with a complacent smile. “Thanks for caring though.”
The large man just tutted under his breath and brought over a glass. “Alright then… what will it be miss?”
“Can I get a dirty shirley?” Something light would do her just fine. “Don’t know what this is. Only got what’s on the drink list kay kid?” “...A cream liqueur?” she pleaded
He shook his head. “We got whatever is on tap” “Get me a pale ale...” Ruqa sighed.
The man delivered and went back to his side of the bar. She took a sip of the watered down ale and took it down with not much pleasure. She considered bar hopping if this place turned out to be boring.
Ruqa looked around the room which only had a few other patrons at their own tables. “Have you considered getting a karaoke machine to spice things up?”

Hmm, this looked bad. [break] [break] Meng Long looked her opponents straight in their eyes as she surveyed the situation. Her chances were not looking great. Maybe…a 20% chance of getting out of this one. Nah, more like 15%. That guy’s snarl didn’t bode anything positive. It was TOO self-certain that Meng didn’t take it as some form of bluff. They had this. Her hands trembled slightly, just slightly. This ordeal had taken too long. The constant pressure had depleted her reserves. She closed her eyes for a moment. This was it. This was the end. [break] [break] “Your hand is weak, Meng! Read ‘em and weep!” [break] [break] Tawny laid her cards on the table. Four of a kind vs Meng’s Flush. She was finished. [break] [break] She had lost the poker game. [break] [break] And her gambling allowance. [break] [break] Yes, Meng Long had a gambling allowance. And she had used it all before the end of the month. Because she thought that nobody had a better hand than a Flush. This was not her night. [break] [break] A trio of grey-haired seniors was sitting in one of the corners of The Cutting Edge. This wasn’t the usual place they played at, but the Busty Boar had banned them for a month for a heated argument that got out of hand, and Alabaster’s flat was getting a paint job. Finally. Meng Long’s faculty housing wasn’t the best place to be right now… on account of the one next to it being blown up and there was structural damage to the wall. Poor Lucian. A horrible way to go. [break] [break] Meng Long’s face wrinkled for a moment. Well, it wrinkled more than it usually did. She had come here to forget all that awfulness for just an evening. Her two fellow poker players had noticed the minute change on the old teacher’s face. Knowing each other for decades, they had an eye for such things. [break] [break] Tawny and Alabaster were…well they were among Meng Long’s group of friends who still remained alive to this day. Most likely because they weren’t in the profession of risking your life daily far from home. The couple were Dust-Merchants, who used to be Meng Long’s go to place when she was ever in the capital. Good people, and combined they were more than capable at keeping their business afloat even through everything that has happened. Meng Long was never certain if it were Artisan Guild perks or from their contributions to the Patriotic People's Party I the past, but their business was still kicking. [break] [break] And they were now greedily accepting Meng’s Lien as her last bet was made for the night. [break] [break] Meng laughed, hearty and throaty like an old woman who had a long life are capable of. [break] [break] “You know I will get square the next time; you just see, you two lovebird! I am going to wet my whistle, and see if I can find some company who doesn’t take my money.” [break] [break] The two of them said their goodbyes for now, and the shape of Meng Long turned around. Till now she had been seated with her back to the rest of the room, and her coat made her look like a rather shapeless blob regardless from behind. Still, her eyes were now on a sight that she honestly both liked and had to address. A person with four metal arms is hard to mistake for someone else. [break] [break] Couldn’t you have chosen a nice bar where I didn’t have to keep myself from lecturing you about underage drinking, Ruqa Reyes! It is not that I like to do it, you know! [break] [break] Almost silently, Meng Long took a seat next to Ruqa a moment after the karaoke machine comment. While it would be hard to mistake either woman for anyone else, the old crone just gestured to the bartender. “A karaoke machine will drive us poor elderly people from this place. I will take the same as the lady next to me…Fran…France…Fra...” [break] [break] “Francis, and it be pale ale on tap.” [break] [break] Meng’s head nodded before her eyes fell on Ruqa beside her. While the younger girl was taller, the wide coat the old figure was wearing gave her a lot more bulk. She gave Ruqa a smile before she addressed the topic that she had to address. “So, how many pale ales do you think it would take me to forget that I have seen you here?” [break] [break]

Ruqa nearly shot up with a jolt when someone filled the empty seat next to her. She had half a mind to tell them off before she saw it was an older looking lady. But not any grey haired lady! This old bag was her goddamn teacher at Haven. "Miss" Meng Long. Ruqa hadn't any particular memory of attending on of her classes but from what she could remember, she was a history teacher or something similar.
Ruqa laughs. "Oh dang teach, I didn't think you would be here! What are the chances we would meet at a seedy bar like this?"
"Isn't it passed your bedtime or something?" Ruqa says jokingly, raising an eyebrow. "I thought the elderly liked to go to bed early. Need their rest or they get cranky."
Ruqa had no frame of reference as to what Long was like personally or whether they clashed or meshed. Long was the most senior among the teacher staff, looked and acted like it too. But then again, Long was supposed to be a retired hunter or something that somehow reached that ripe age without kicking the bucket so there was some respect there. It was why Ruqa felt comfortable talking back at her and she felt she could get a laugh out of Long by the end of the night.
"Oof, not sure if I could afford to keep your glass filled! Might take an entire cup!" Ruqa laughs, hoping to challenge the senior into joining her.
Ruqa raises her own mug of pale ale and takes a sip. If Long had any wise words about abstinence and moderation Ruqa had already started draining her beer. She doubted Long was going to drag her out of the bar, underage drinking or not.
"I didn't know this was "your place" Miss Long. I'll try not to disturb it too much." Ruqa nods behind her mug. It went unspoken that Ruqa was not going to budge. She wasn't going back to the dorms, not when something interesting happened.
