Combat & Inventory
Briar Thorn
Rank of Semblance: E
Semblance Type: Transformation
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: Canary has the Transformation Semblance of Briar Thorn which allows the user to hit an enemy and inflict them with a Agility debuff while buffing her own Speed and Stamina.
Description of Semblance: Canary can create a thorn for the purposes of jabbing it into an enemy. If she succeeds in hitting with the attack, the sleepy state of her existence is for a time wiped away in the form of a stamina and speed buff. In addition it drains away some degree of her foe’s agility. If their rank of agility is equal or lesser than the rank of her Semblance their agility is reduced by one rank. Mechanically, Briar Thorn once activated goes on for three posts before incurring a three post cooldown.
Drawbacks of Semblance: Canary is constantly tired when not using her Semblance against someone. Dulling her excitement and enthusiasm for most things. At least in terms of how it would appear to others.
Rakuyo
Rank of Weapon(s): F

The last reminder of an old skilled hunter who had simply vanished after the moment they considered to be their greatest failure. Tricky to wield to full effect, the Rakuyo can just as easily cut away at its wielder if the user proves to lack a certain degree of dexterity.
Thorn
Rank of Weapon(s): F
Description of Weapons(s): Thorn is well quite simply just that, a small thorn that Canary can create within the palm of either hand as part of her Semblance Briar Thorn. While it might be as capable of dishing out damage as her true primary Rakuyo, there is little reason for her to use it beyond landing a single attack. At least for the duration of her Semblance.

However once her Semblance was revealed, this particular skill became just a bit harder to properly train. A fact not helped by her admiration for her instructor at the time leading her to focus more on another aspect of her skill-set.

Biography
Personality/History Freeform
Raised in a rather warm, comfortable, and mostly caring home. Canary spent most of her early childhood living the typical girl life, with little in the way of concerns, less in the way of wants, and not a single worry over true needs. Such lovely things hardly last though, and for Canary it was as she neared her teenage years that she started to realize the issues that were 'apparent' in her 'perfect' life. Her parents could provide about any creature comfort she might want, they could give her almost anything found within Minstral. Yet, they could never really give her the full breadth of their love. As their passion was never behind their daughter's endeavors, but instead focused entirely within the craft that had brought them such wealth. A craft, that Canary herself had never shown much proficiency toward. So it was during those important years, that she began to seek avenues to prove herself, to give her that feeling of value that her parental relation had left un-sated. Thus began a relationship that would change everything, with a woman many years wiser than the young girl.
Whose talents were well known in the world of hunter's. Canary's teenage years were dedicated almost exclusively to this, rushing home from only to change and drop off her books before she left again. To spend the afternoons, and the early evening hours training. Even her weekends were not spared this fate, and before long the energetic outgoing girl had become something of a recluse at school who was solely focused on one thing. Training was her world, and she gave all of herself over to it. Until, that one fateful day. The day in which her mentor would discard the weapon that Canary carried in with her to Haven Academy. An attempt to awaken the still teenage girl's Semblance resulted in something the senior hunter could not anticipate. Canary's 'gift' was not something most would consider a gift, but a form of 'curse'. An ability that left her exhausted and weary at the best of times, and utterly drained and devoid of energy at the worst. It was a sharp change in what had once been a young, outgoing girl.
Who'd already become a recluse. Now, she lacked enthusiasm, the excitement for life she once displayed so vibrantly. It had all faded, and in its place were weary eyes, a tired smile, and yet somehow.. that positive outlook that had carried her through life remained; even dulled as it had become. Canary's misfortune sadly did not end with the awakening of her Semblance. As her search for new sources of training led her to find a young man around her own age. A wolf to her feline, who she knew less about than she should have when they began to practice against one another. He was strong, that much was obviously clear and there were many benefits in learning to deal with opponents who wanted to be right up in her face during a fight considering the limited method that she could implement her Semblance.
Which was a source of excitement for the young girl resulting in her end of their battles often being almost solely dedicated to finding ways she might prick him with the briar thorn. Until... in one training session, she did. Her attack was finally a success and for the first time in a few years, Canary felt as her old self. Awake, excited, bursting with energy. Her excitement in that moment became a bittersweet memory however, as an arrogant wolf responded with the full depth of his rage. Canary had heard of Grimm attacks before, heard the stories, knew the details, and tried to understand the horror that truly powerful Grimm could be. What she experienced that day, what she was subjected to by someone she viewed as a friend was something else entirely.
The moment of elation she'd found herself caught up in after landing the difficult attack left her off guard the powerful blows that followed, and continued without mercy. Her Aura held up for a time, and that alone made the largest difference in determining if she would live or die. Though his onslaught did not stop when it broke, and severe injuries were inflicted before finally an instructor was able to intervene. The next year of her life was confined entirely to a hospital, sleepless nights often brought about by the memory of his face and the rage that had consumed and overtaken someone she considered a dear friend. So many times she woke up startled from the nightmares of that day, in a cold sweat, with a racing heart, and shaking limbs.
Worse... it was in those horrid moments, that she felt for short times the absence of her curse. The only relief she would have from the drawbacks of her Semblance for an entire year. When it finally came time for entrance exams, and ultimately the assigning of teams. Canary had long since forgiven her 'friend' even if she still held some fleeting feels of fear toward him. So it wasn't as shocking to her as one might expect to find that a familiar face had returned to her life. Though now she finds herself struggling with guilt, to see the anguish he so clearly clings too over that fateful sparring match. It was clear that her external injuries were not even as severe as the ones that continued to afflict his mind.
After Canary's recovery she of course focused on gaining admittance to Haven. While she might not have been the most talented combatant ever seen, her Semblance proved an effective weapon in catching opponents off-guard. Giving her an advantaged period in which she could claim victory, while they struggled with the sluggishness brought about alongside the sudden burst of energy Canary had come to possess. On the other end of things, other than some slight concerns over how drowsy she seemed to be, Canary's psyche was checked out as passing rather easily. Do to her kind nature, and tempered with a deep determination to find something she could take pride in excelling in.
