Humans managed to weave into the town at night before beginning their assault, burning the buildings to the ground and slaughtering the masses. The kids were captured as POWs, and Chloro thought she could be the savior for the town. She believed she could free all the prisoners but when she was caught out, she was made an example of. She would never forget the words the helmed leader of this unit barked. "Any more hiccups and we'll silence you like we will silence this one!" That night, her voice was robbed from her before she was left to die in the burning wreckage.
During what she thought was her final moments, unknown figures managed to bring her to one of the burnt homes and into the basement where they tried everything to keep the poor soul alive. Chloro fought as well to keep breathing, to keep herself alive. She didn't know the fate of her parents, but she could hazard a good guess. Recovery took several weeks before she could get back to "normal", which was to say the new normal now. Her voice was ruined. A fresh, and rather grotesque scar remained of what the unit leader did to her, and now laid as a permanent reminder of how this world was going to be. After this ragtag group left the ruins, they made way to the captial, Mistral City. Maybe they could pass as human as most didn't have obvious traits of faunus heritige.
For the next 8 years, between the end of the war, and the tragedy that befell the Haven Academy up in the highest districts, Chloro slowly began to develop a desire to find new homes, and a new family again. Between her acts to keep herself fed whilst living on the streets and arguably on her own, she decided to try and make something of herself. Maybe she could help in these tragedies if and when they happened too if she learned to become a huntress. All she needed was a weapon, which she managed to procure during the blockade of bandits in 24 AV. She had plenty of victims to steal and rob from until the hunters routed them all out completely, and this led to procuring her crossbow and longsword she keeps close to her side.
The next step was to pass the entry exams. First was a tournament, which seemed like a daunting issue. But when it came to 26 AV, she entered to try. What could go wrong? Well apparently alot. In all honesty, most of these kids came from another school for such training, whereas Chloro had nothing. So how did she managed to get to the point of "winning" and passing? How she's managed to live for the last 8 years. What she lacked in training she made up for in experience, intuition, will and creativity. Utilising her faunus trait, as well as managing to unlock her aura during combat as well, she managed to get through to the forest trip portion. This was one of her first times encountering Grimm face to face, but she managed to deal with each threat with how she dealt with most things, stealth and ambush.
What followed was a psycholical evaluation, which unearthed some issues with Chloro that she learnt about herself. Compared to most students, she was quite mature... in certain areas. In others, she was still that naive, 10 year old kid. But it was enough to pass her completely, which made her extremely glad. Now, she just needed to train more and learn how to use this semblance she has.
