❝ WORDS: 868TAG: Evangeline Lys de Verre NOTES: Nothing says bonding like commiserating over a soap opera! HAVE YOU SEEN HER? HAVE YOU HEARD? THE WAY SHE MOVES, THERE ARE NO WORDS Dormitory... Dormitory, dormitory, dormitory... Now where was that again? Carmim strolled across the spacious Haven Academy campus, headed towards the dormitory building. She'd just gotten all cleared to enter the Academy, and now all that was left was moving in. Thankfully, she didn't have too much luggage to haul around- just two rolling suitcases full of clothes and essentials. She liked to live pretty sparsely; "can't take it wit' you when ya dead!" She smiled to herself at one of her mother's catchphrases. She sure did miss home... But she liked Mistral well enough too. Her Uncle Fadaka lived here, which was great. He definitely staved off a lot of the homesickness, and it was his recommendation that got her into the Academy in the first place, so she was certainly quite grateful to him for the opportunity. And having Vinho and Granado around helped too- her brothers could be a handful, but they were her best friends, and she would have been so lost without them to help her figure out how to survive in the big fancy cities of this kingdom that always felt way too fast for her. Of course, it would have been even nicer if they could have been here to help carry these bags... Carmim was always priding herself on her strength and endurance, but yeesh, these bags were weighing her down! Who knew clothes could be so heavy? Of course, the big wooden drum slung against her hip wasn't making this much easier. But at this point, she'd been carrying Storyteller around long enough that it just felt like a part of her body, like an arm or leg. Except less immediately useful in this situation, as an arm or leg would be... Fortunately, her slight inconvenience would be ending soon- she was already headed up the steps and through the ornate doorway to the dorms. Within a few minutes, she'd managed to lug her bags all the way up to her new room, where she could unceremoniously sling them onto her bed or something. Look, she'd just spent all day getting orientated at by faculty, unpacking was a low priority. Of course, it pained her to leave those bags there... What would her parents say if they knew she was being so lazy!? No, this certainly wouldn't do. She turned right back around at the door, and went through both of her suitcases, unpacking and neatly folding her clothes, before placing them in what she assumed was her dresser- it was the only empty one, anyways. Organized by color, of course. She sighed, shaking her head. Well, at least her part of the room would be nice and neat when it came time for bed. And the next morning, she'd certainly appreciate having already done all the "hard" work of officially moving in. Speaking of which, she heard she had a few roommates. Seems like none of them were home at the moment, though, so she was by herself. Well, this would be a good time to do some exploring of the building. Maybe she should check out the Common Room? She heard there was a TV in there, and she was really itching to see if that show her Uncle was always watching was on- at first, she just watched it because it was there, but then she really got into it! And, of course, walking down the hall, she caught a glimpse of dialogue from the very show she was hoping to find! "Oh, Lisa, my darling... Your eyes shine as brightly as the moon in the sky!"" "Oh Toya..." "You make my heart dance and sing, oh, you make me so happy to be alive, with you in my arms." "Oh Toya! Yes, I feel the same way!" "And that is why!... I must leave you, my sweet Lisa. I cannot stay!" "Toya, no!" What gripping drama! Such burning romance! And such heated heartbreak! Oof, Carmim was just a few seconds too late- the episode was over already, ending on a cliffhanger. Those writers were just too good at keeping her on the edge of her metaphorical seat... But just as she was about to turn back to her room, disappointed at missing her show, she caught the sight of a petite blonde girl sitting on one of the couches, on the edge of her literal seat. Well this was a nice surprise! She stepped further into the room and waved at the girl with a big grin. "Hey t'ere, my friend! You were just watching "You are t'e Dust," yeah?" She stepped around the couch and plopped down on the other side of the couch from Eva. "I'm Carmim, you can call me Ca' if it's betta'." She stuck out a hand for the other girl to shake if she were so inclined. "So, I have to know now- what in t'e world happened in this episode!? I was so sure Toya was going to stay steady wit' Lisa for at least one more episode!" Ooohh, that Toya. Always doing the most expected unexpected things! Her heart went out to poor Lisa. And now she'd found a new friend to talk about the show with! Hooray! |
