“Eos” is the Greek goddess of the dawn, and links with his first name
Semblance Name: Golden Fleece
Rank of Semblance: E
Semblance Type: Physical Boost
Primary Category: Combatant
Secondary Category: Hazard
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: Chrys has the Physical Boost semblance of Golden Fleece, which allows him to increase his body’s weight and strength.
Description of Semblance: By channelling his Aura inwards, Chrys is able to alter the mass of his body. This has the added effect of increasing his strength proportionately, keeping his mobility from being impacted while boosting the power of melee strikes. Currently, his upper limit is five times his body weight, with a proportionate increase in strength.
While active, Golden Fleece lends a gold lustre to Chrys’ hair and tail. It increases in intensity depending on how much his mass is increased, ranging from “barely noticeable” to “used paint as shampoo.”
Drawbacks of Semblance: Golden Fleece can only increase mass, or reduce it back to his baseline weight. In other words, Chrys cannot become less massive. Additionally, it has no notable effect on his durability - if an attack is powerful enough to do noticeable damage to his Aura, slightly more leathery skin than usual isn’t going to do much to stop it either.
Weapon Name: Sunrise Chimera
Rank of Weapon(s): F
Category: Combatants
Description of Weapons(s): Painted in yellow and purple to match his outfit, Sunrise Chimera combines a pump-action shotgun with a double-headed, two-handed battle axe. When in shotgun form, both heads are folded under the forearm, while axe form sees one of the heads swing around onto the top of the barrel. The stock folds back and into itself, narrowing and lengthening to form a grip.
The gun has a low ammo capacity, and due to being pump-action, has a limited firing rate. What it lacks in these departments, however, it makes up for in power and versatility. Capable of firing slugs and buckshot for both close- and medium-range coverage, it kicks like a mule, but hits like one too.
While Sunrise Chimera lacks what most would call a compact form, the forearm, barrel, trigger, and sights can retract into the stock, while the axe heads fold into one, forming a one-handed war axe that is easier to transport. Due to mechanical limitations, however, it cannot be fired when in this form and is purely a melee weapon.

Name of Combat Ability: Strength
Rank of Combat Ability: E
Category: Combatants
Description of Combat Ability: Chrys' countless hours of training have resulted in him having a great deal of strength at his disposal. It's needed, too - Chimera is a heavy weapon, lending itself more to sheer power than speed and agility.
Name of Combat Ability: Martial Arts
Rank of Combat Ability: E
Category: Combatants
Description of Combat Ability: Despite appearing to be a brutish and simple weapon, a battleaxe still requires skill to wield properly. The timing of swings, the handling of momentum, shifting one’s centre of gravity, and the best place to strike, are all just the tip of the iceberg.
Name of Combat Ability: Durability
Rank of Combat Ability: F
Category: Hazard
Description of Combat Ability: Though Chrys has the option of using slugs for keeping his enemy at range, his main method of dispatching foes is getting up close and personal with the axe, and cleaving them apart. Lacking any real defensive options beyond his Aura, he instead trains to be strong enough to plow through whatever attacks are thrown his way.
Primary Drive: The reason that Chrys fights so hard is to prove himself. The answer he gives as to who, however, changes like the wind. Sometimes he’ll say that he wants to prove himself to his mother, and reassure her that she’s worried for nothing. Sometimes he’ll say that he wants to prove himself to those that put the Faunus down - and will also quickly acknowledge that it’s a little spiteful a reason to become a huntsman. Sometimes he’ll even say it’s to prove himself to his father, whoever it was, to show the man that he didn’t need them in his life. Whether he knows it or not, however, he’s mostly fighting to prove to himself that he’s good enough. Despite all he’s achieved, he’s still unnerved by the idea that failure lurks just around the corner, and only takes one lapse in judgement to spell disaster.
Fears: Chrys’ drive and his fears are intertwined, in that he fears that he’ll never meet the expectations placed upon him as a huntsman. His mother worked herself ragged to see that he was able to pursue the path of a hunter, while humans - those beyond Menagerie, anyway - make no secret of how little they think of him. Ever the prideful person, Chrys dreads the idea that he will fail the people that believe in him, and prove the humans right.
To a lesser extent, Chrys also avoids cramped spaces. This is partly because he doesn’t like being cooped up for too long, and gets antsy if he’s made to stay in the same space for a while, but also because he’s built like a tank. Cramped spaces are both mentally and physically uncomfortable.
Style of Self-Expression: Chrys isn’t ever going to be the smartest person in the room, and he’s smart enough to know how dumb he can be. Not wanting to look like more of a fool than he usually does, he tends to stick to being direct about what he has to say, and doesn’t mince words or dress things up with flowery language. However, this can sometimes lead to him being far more blunt than he should be, especially if someone’s looking for a tactful response.
Most Important Thing: Regardless of the situation, Chrys will always do his utmost in order to save face, and preserve people's image of him - as long as it's a good one. No matter what, he'll try to project himself as a strong-willed, confident, and dynamic individual that can handle any situation no matter how much pressure he's under. And, no matter how much it may pain him to maintain that facade, and no matter how much he may want to be open with those that care about him, it will take an act of divine intervention to get him to start doing so.
To the people of Atlas, Chrys’ father appeared to be an upstanding and venerable businessman, strong-willed and a deft negotiator, but humble enough to know when he was out of his depth and leave matters in more capable hands. And, while not particularly outspoken about his attitude towards the Faunus, his business’ treatment of them spoke volumes.
His hatred of them couldn’t stop him having an affair with one, however. Whenever he left on business, Chrys’ mother was there waiting for him. Neither were under any illusion that they were in love, but in an environment where a Faunus was lucky to do more than just scrape by, she thought she would have to be a fool to pass up the attention of someone that was willing to pay her to simply say nothing.
They got careless, however, and she found herself pregnant - and determined to keep the child. Predictably, he was absolutely furious with her, but she managed to calm him enough to agree to talk. He initially wanted to just walk out the door and never mention it to anyone else, but she was smarter than she had let on. Though she'd never have a chance of being on any kind of board, she was every bit as crafty as he was, and all those years together, she'd studied him. Made sure to note down what made him tick... and what buttons to push.
They negotiated, and though he tried to intimidate her, she refused to back down. She was well aware that, above all else, he valued his station, and would go through hell and high water to keep his squeaky-clean image from being tarnished. She knew few would fully believe her claims that they had been engaged in some secret tryst, but while he had the connections to bury and explain away most of the evidence, what would remain would be enough to start rumours. His wife wouldn't look at him the same way. The tabloids would snag onto any chance they could get to print controversial articles. And that was to say nothing of what his enemies would do once they got wind of it all.
She demanded two things - monthly hush money, and passage out of the kingdom. The first he could do, so long as it was a small enough amount to pass off as an accounting error. Passage outside of the area wasn’t something that would be seen as suspicious either - she was a Faunus, after all. Most that had the chance to get out of that particular area took it the moment it arose. It stung, but he knew those terms would be the least troublesome he'd ever get from her.
It still felt more like exile when they arrived in Menagerie, though. Treatment of her kind was better there than where she’d come from, but it was just trading one struggle for another. She was determined to make it work, however. Not just for herself, but for her child. She knew that she'd never be able to give him much, but she wanted to make damn sure that she'd give him all that she ever could, and let him enjoy what few opportunities their new home would provide.
Growing up in Menagerie wasn't particularly easy on either of them. Putting aside the fact that she had to work her fingers to the bone to make sure that the two of them had enough to survive and save up a nest egg, Menagerie didn’t have the resources, money, or manpower that the other territories did. Grimm attacks were frequent, and only made life harder. It all came together to leave her haggard at every waking moment, with barely a moment’s rest between everything that she’d chosen to take on.
Young though he was, Chrys wasn't oblivious. He recognised that his mother was tired whenever she had the chance to spend time with him, no matter how hard she tried to hide it. She'd run herself ragged at work, then whenever she came home, she'd run herself ragged trying to keep up with his energy and whatever problems he encountered - or caused. So when the time came that he had to start learning how to wield a weapon and prepare for when he was older and stronger, he threw himself into it with a fervour that he'd never shown before.
He was like a boy possessed. Day in and day out, whenever he wasn't in school, he was grabbing the biggest training weapon that his hands could fit around, and wailing on the dummies when a sparring partner wasn't available. He wanted to work hard like his mother, to be useful to her, to make sure that whenever she came home, she wouldn't be so tired. And whether it was through sheer grit, natural talent, or a combination of the two, he took to it like a duck to water. He was hardly the smartest child in the village, but there was no doubting that he was one of the biggest and the toughest.
It was inevitable, then, that someone suggested he enrol at a combat academy. Chrys was on board with it immediately, and leapt at the chance to further hone his skills. His mother took a little more convincing, though. It wasn't as if she believed he wasn't talented - in fact, some part of her recognised that even if he did have the smarts to go far, society outside of Menagerie would put every obstacle they could in the way of his progress. But the mortality rate of huntsmen was notoriously high, and she was understandably not keen on sending her child to face the hordes on the front line.
But when she looked into his eyes, and heard how much passion was in his voice when he spoke about becoming a huntsman, she just couldn't say no. She'd promised herself that she'd grant him the chance to pursue opportunities she'd never had, after all, and to give him a better life than her own. If being happy meant taking up arms and charging into the fray, then worry as she might, she'd just have to wish him luck.
While Chrys graduated with flying colours in the combat tests, his academic abilities - as always - needed a little polishing. Even so, he managed to pass, and signed on to take the entrance exams for Haven Academy the moment that he was able. But not before his mother granted him one last gift, given with a tearful smile. Sunrise Chimera. It was hardly the most complex of weapons - essentially just one of the village's axes and shotguns welded together with as few moving parts as possible - but she'd be damned if she was going to send her only son out into the world without something reliable to defend himself with.
Though he managed to pass the combat trials against the Grimm easily enough, seeing the range of fighters on offer at Mistral was an eye-opener for Chrys. His school had had skilled fighters and teachers, that much was certain, but it wasn't a particularly large village - or a particularly large island. He'd gotten used to fighting the same people and the same types of Grimm, day in and day out, and it showed. Faced with a range of unique strategies and abilities, his go-to tactic of "charge in and hit things really hard" didn't work nearly as well as he'd hoped, even with his Semblance. He managed to brute force his way through, but the near losses were enough to shake him. The psychological examination was a little easier to pass though, and while it was noted that he might need some help in the social department, it was hardly as though he was putting anyone in danger.
