Semblance Name: Helios
Rank of Semblance: E
Semblance Type: Transformation
Primary Category: Combatants (+2)
Secondary Category: Combatants (+0)
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: Reed Apollo has the transformation semblance of Helios which shrouds him in blinding light that lowers enemy accuracy, recharges aura, and increases his durability.
Description of Semblance:
Helios is a semblance that can be activated once Reed's aura has dropped to under 50%. Once that has happened he can trigger the transformation at will. His entire body begins to radiate a vibrant, blinding gold light that makes looking directly at Reed difficult. This light empowers Reed, and also acts as an extension of energy that increases the defensive power of his aura. The light radiates out 10 meters, becoming less intense after the first five. Inside that five meters however it is almost to bright to discern Reed's exact location. While he is the source, and therefore is in the center of the light, tracking it can be quite difficult as Reed is still free to move as usual.
Mechanically Helios provides Reed with a durability increase, recharges his aura by 33%, and if the enemy's Marksmenahip is of a rank equal to or less than Helios, their marksmanship is reduced by one rank
Drawbacks of Semblance:
Helios comes with the usual drawbacks of a transformation semblance. It can only be maintained for three posts and then must recharge for three posts.. Also, while the semblance restores some of his aura, it does nothing for his stamina. Reed will usually be visibly winded after usage of his semblance. Finally Helios is not a semblance to be used in stealth for obvious reason. While it makes it harder for him to be hit, it does also give away his presence and location to any who can see the light he produces
Weapon Name: Solaris Arc
Rank of Weapon(s): E
Category: Combatants (+1)
Description of Weapons(s): Solaris Arc is a large combat yo-yo. The body of the yo-yo is roughly the size of a softball and is weighted, making it much heavier than it appears. Around the axle of the body runs a durable, metal wire that acts as the string. This string leads back to Reed and is connected to a metal gauntlet worn on Reed's right arm. The string is attached to a small mechanical wench on the bottom of Reed's wrist. When not deployed Solaris Arc can be attached to the bottom of the bracer, making it easier to carry.
The gauntlet for Solaris Arc serves multiple purposes. First it acts as a launching assistant for Reed when he throws the yo=yo body. This helps compensate for the weight of the weapon. The winch attached to the bottom of the gauntlet can also be activated with a small pinky trigger built into the gauntlet. This allows Reed to wrap the yo-yo around enemies and pull them for throws or to bring them close. Wrapping the yo-yo around a stable solid object and activating the wench can be used to pull Reed around much like a grappling gun.
The wire of the yo-yo is heavy duty and durable and can be used to wrap around objects or enemies, allowing Reed to use it at point blank range for grappling. The body of the yo-yo has places to place dust ammunition that can be activated by another trigger built into the gauntlet.
Finally inset into the body of the yo-yo are small knifelike blades that extend when the weapon is thrown, and retract as it comes back. This can be used for slicing, and also as a way to anchor into an object.

This can be used twice per thread.
Primary Drive:
Reed wants to make the world smile. In a world overrun by Grimm, where people are constantly at each other Reed wants to spread happiness. He knows that in order for that to happen he needs to grow strong, strong enough to ensure that people can not just survive, but live a life worth living. He dreams of becoming an elite huntsman, and of helping those who cannot help themselves. To give those who have no opportunity the chance to live without fear of the next beowolf attack, or of their village being reduced to rubble by bandits. In every decision he makes, Reed tries to focus on how he can help people, and to achieve his goals he will stop at no end. While he sees the way that larger cities have prospered, the image of smaller towns wiped out by grim remind him how that opportunity is unfortunately not something everyone has access to.
Fears: Beyond anything Reed fears loneliness. To him life's value is based upon the people you surround yourself with, and the bonds you share. To lose those close to him, whether to death or to strife, is something that Reed feels he cannot live with. Beyond that he fears failure. When he left the circus, those in the caravan gave him money, food, and unending support. They believed he could be the best, and it is a point of pride for Reed. To lose is something he hates more than anything. Finally after an incident when he was young he fears drowning, and finds deep water very unsettling.
Style of Self-Expression:
Reed presents himself as a laid back man, to the point that some would call him lazy. While he understands the importance of his training and huntsmen duties he much prefers the idea of sitting in a crowded bar singing to a group of laughing drunks. He is outgoing, to the point of almost being annoying, and the phrase "He has never met a stranger" comes to mind quickly in regards to him. His humor tends to be dry, leaning towards sarcasm and he enjoys wordplay. Reed is quick to befriend others, and enjoys talking to others.
Internally, Reed is a proud man despite finding himself with doubts of his own merit and ability. Perhaps his loud exterior could be seen as a compensation for his inner worries about whether he is good enough to achieve his goals. When faced with a challenge he tends to refuse to back down, and as a result has found himself in over his head too often. This ending tends to make the situation worse, as Reed sees those failures as additional ammunition for his insecurity.
Perhaps the biggest weakness Reed has is his weakness for women. He has a sense of chivalry that is so old it could be considered mid evil. He finds himself quickly infatuated, and finds himself wanting to care for women. Opening doors, pulling out chairs for them to sit, paying for meals, Reed is almost a cliché when it comes to his idea of how to treat a lady. This can often lead to trouble, as he will almost instinctively protect a woman, no matter the circumstance.
Being raised in the circus left Reed lacking in what some would call refinement. Manners were not the highest priority in the circus. As such Reed tends to stuff his face when eating, burp without concern, and speak his mind. The idea of not saying what comes to mind is something he struggles with, and as such he is sometimes seen as rude and is unsure why.
Most Important Thing:
For Reed the most important thing is family. While many define this term based off of blood relations, for Reed family are the people you choose to consider such. The circus performers he was raised with, his mentor Roland, and those he has build his closest friendships with are Reed's family. As such there is no rule, no challenge, no line too far for him to cross when it comes to protecting his family. If you harm those he loves, he will show no mercy. If the people he loves are threatened, his own life is of little value if it means keeping them safe.
Reed was born in the traveling caravan of the Barnabus Brother Circus. His mother, Cyan Falls, was a nurturing and wonderful woman while his father was a man Reed has never met nor knows much of. It is assumed his father's surname was Apollo, as that is the name his mother gave to him. His earliest memories were of the caravan and the circus. He would play in the wagon that doubled as his home with the other children during shows and the ideal that it takes a village to raise a child was a solid description. At the age of six he began studying routines with the other performers and by eight he had become a part of the show, assisting the acrobats, clowns, illusionists, and dancers when they preformed. He loved most of all dancing with his mother and her group, who would frequently be sent out to keep the crowd entertained while the next act was setting up. He found his love for the stage there, as the circus travelled from town to town, sometimes entering larger cities for shows when they could manage it.
His first encounter with huntsmen came in the form of a man named Roland. A stoic image of somber power, Roland was something to see in his billowing black duster and cowboy hat. He was rarely seen without a cigar in his mouth and the twin revolvers he carried at his hip. Reed was unaware of what deal the Barnabus brothers had made with the huntmen for his protection, but Roland traveled with the caravan everywhere they went. Even alone the man was capable of decimating any Grimm that seemed to try to pester the traveling group.
At ten his mother fell ill, and while she stopped performing there was no question that the caravan would care for her. After three long years she passed on. Reed continued to stay with the circus and it wasn't until he was fourteen that he ever thought of any other type of life. That changed during a particularly large Grimm attack on the caravan.
Fires raged through several of the wagons as troupe members ran for cover. Roland moved like a hurricane through the black shades that struck, but the numbers were great and he couldn't be everywhere at once. Reed was in the big tent, hiding in the back with the littlest children he was watching over. They hid among the props as a Beowolf sniffed and growled, smashing through clothes racks and tables as it hunted its prey. One of the smaller children let out a cry beside Reed and the beast pounced. Fear raced through Reed, but as he saw the terror in the child's eyes his body moved on instinct. His hand grabbed one of the knife thrower's blades from the table and he charged the beast. He landed a small slash across the beast's foreleg as the Grim slammed into him, throwing him back. He felt the chill of death slide over him as the Grim scrambled back to it's feet and leapt at him. His eyes shut, and suddenly he heard the resounding blast of a gunshot.
Roland stood in the doorway of the tent, pistol raised, as the Beowolf fell at Reed's feet. It squirmed and lashed out, injured but not dead and Reed ushered the children away towards the huntman who had saved them. Roland looked at Reed.
"Why didn't you run?" He asked
Reed felt his face flush as he considered the words.
"They needed me to protect them." Reed replied.
Roland simply nodded and handed the boy his gun.
"Finish it." He said somberly.
After that night Roland began to take an interest in Reed, and after a few short months a group of huntsmen arrived and Roland reveled to Reed he planned to take him to Mistral. They left the circus behind and Reed traveled to Mistral and enrolled in Sanctum Combat School.
His time there was educational, but challenging. Roland had taught him as best he could in the time they had taken to get to the city, but at school Reed found himself struggling to catch up to the other students. It was four long years, but the boy grew much and learned with a drive and passion. He made friends, and his skills at fighting grew, the image Roland a constant goal in his mind.
When he applied for Haven and entered the exam he found himself struggling. His tournament matches were tough, and he found himself barely able to claim victory and pass. When he was sent into the woods for his combat test he found himself face to face with a small group of Beowolves. It served an odd reminder of what had pushed him here in the first place. Unlike back then, fear did not propel him, and the young man faced down the Grimm, weapon in hand and saw the progress he had made.
He had made it in, in his own mind by the skin of his teeth. His first year was spent pushing himself, trying to rise above the lowest tier of the class and prove he was capable. While his skill has yet to catch up to his drive, Reed's determination to become the best is the guiding light that drives him through his second year atvHaven.
