Russet perked up as Marion looked to her and Sinopia for a volunteer to drive the forklift.
"I'll do it!" Her response was immediate, and accompanied by a big grin and a raise of her hand, before swinging her legs up and into the hotseat. She couldn't remember the last time she'd driven a forklift before, but she definitely remembered it being a lighter model than this one- it was heavy-duty, for mining operations, and it handled like a freight ship. But, unwieldy as it was, she found her driving skills were up to the task, leading the way forward, along the path of the blood trails.
She wasn't too fond of the bloody mess they were following.
Blood gave her the creeps, when she wasn't sure whose it was, or why. She was a grown-ass woman with a lot of experience down in the trenches of the slums, but that was a whole different thing- Grimm were fucking scary. She'd kick human ass any day of the week, over running into a Beowolf in a dark alley.
And this was a dark alley, where the only way out was up...
She wasn't too claustrophobic, but damn if all that blood wasn't making her feel like she was.
The quiet of the mine was broken by an alert over the comms channel. Seems like some chump on the reserves squad had gotten into a big mess. They should have just listened to Alina, and stayed put. She clicked her tongue in disapproval. Now they were going to have to help them out of their mess, and that meant trouble.
Alina sent Sinopia to check that out, and the remaining three pressed on, Russet using the lift to clear some debris out of the way as they went. Coming to the pool of murky gunk, though, she stopped driving to sit and watch as Alina and Marion fiddled with the goo. It didn't look like blood. Not any blood she'd ever seen, anyways.
But the bits that came up on the rag were normal blood.
Which was still alarming- that meant the blood was fresh enough to come right up when touched with a cloth. Which meant whatever was bleeding was still nearby...
Alina seemed ready to move on, but Marion wanted to stay and examine the blood a bit longer, so Russet figured it was smarter to stick with her. The path ahead seemed mostly clear, and if Alina needed her, she could get there pretty quickly, forklift or not. "I'll stay with Marion, if that's cool with you, boss. Buddy system and all."
Realistically, it was less out of respect for the sanctity of the buddy system, and more out of fear that either she or the blonde would get jumped by Grimm, all alone... Alina was tough, she could handle herself. Russet was not.
And, speak of the devil...
No sooner had Alina slipped out of sight, than a little Creep burst out of the wall, snarling and snapping at her as it attempted to invade her ride. Russet was quick to react, if a little surprised; it landed atop her, pinning her, but she held it at bay with a firm hand at arm's reach, and unloaded a spray from her bullpup into its gaping maw with the other.
And soon enough, the beast dissolved into... black... mist.
Huh.
It was rare for Russet to have a really genius spark of inspiration, but that time had come. She swiped at the disintegrating Creep with her hand, catching a faint bit of Grimm-y, gunky, goo on her fingertips, before that too dissolved.
Got it.
"Hey Marion- call me crazy, but... You don't think that goop is Grimm blood, do ya? Like. Mixed with regular blood, I mean. Look how it poofs when ya touch it. And then look at this." She held up her weapon, which still had a few traces of the black ooze from the Creep, before it vanished into nothing.
"Grimm blood. Also, uh. Let's get the hell outta here..." Firing her gun was necessary to protect herself, but now there was the issue of Grimm being alerted to their position.
Better catch up to Alina quick, especially to share the new finding.
Before something else caught up with them...

[attr="class","nikki109"]Down into the mine she went. She was alone now, but that fact didn’t bother her. Russet was right to stay back, because she and Marion together was a lot better as a grouping than Alina with anyone while someone else was solo. She hit a fork in the mine, and knelt down to see if there were any footprints or blood trails leading into one or the other. [break][break]
The blood trails did lead into one in particular, but Alina sensed movement above her and jumped backwards just in time to avoid a stinger that impaled itself in the ground where she had been standing a moment ago. Looking up, she saw a Deathstalker on the ceiling, skittering towards her. It was clever, really. One of the constants of people across all cultures and across all jobs was the fact that nobody in the right mind looked up without some sort of mental abnormality or training. [break][break]
This Grimm was pretty big and had dents and scratches all over its outer armor, but it wasn’t anything that Alina couldn’t burn away rather quickly. Sidestepping the second stinger attack, Alina snapped both of her fingers and igniting her flames and the plant dust from her gloves at the same time. As the creature was stunned from the dual attack, the wolf faunus then drew her sword with her left hand and chucked it upwards – luckily landing it in a soft area between the now cracked armor. Right hand went down to her sidearm and pulled it out and quickly fired off five of the pistol’s ten shots as the flames continued to melt the carapace of the monster and expose more and more of its vulnerable flesh.[break][break]
The creature fell from the ceiling heavily wounded, with its stomach pointed upwards. Alina fired off three more rounds into that exposed stomach, which was enough to cause the monster to start disintegrating. Holstering her sidearm, the wolf faunus went over to pick up and sheathe her szabla as well before continuing down the side with the blood trails, assuming that it would lead to something in the end.[break][break]
She vaguely recalled something in the briefing about a fork pretty far down into the mine, but couldn’t recall whether it was close or not. There was another fork that occurred pretty soon afterwards, but the blood trail went cold and she didn’t know which direction to go. It was as good a spot as any to wait until the others arrived, anyway. She hated these types of missions, running around like fucking chickens with their heads cut off because they had next to no information on what the fuck happened or where the threats were. If Alina knew where the threats were, she could just march over and exterminate them.[break][break]
Sadly, today wasn’t going to be quite that easy. At least she knew to actually look up for more deathstalkers for the rest of the day, that was a surprise she didn’t want to repeat anytime soon.[break][break]

Marion gasped in surprise when the Creep came out of nowhere and jumped on top of Russet. But before she could lend a hand, the sniper of the Kozaks managed to take care of the attacker by herself.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Marion decided to get her ass moving already. Whatever this black ooze was, it wasn’t worth getting killed for. So the sooner she could be under the burning protection of Alina, the better.
-I considered it... But it sounded kinda silly saying it out loud...- She responded to Russet’s inquiry. Having someone say it for her made it all sound way more plausible.
-But yeah. This looks a lot like a melted Grimm or something. Beats the hell out of me why it isn’t dissipating as it should- Even more mysterious was the fact that it actually did fade away if you tried to pick it up. It all escaped Marion’s knowledge. She knew how to handle Grimm, their demeanor and that, this sciency stuff was best left for someone with actual training in that area.
-Even if the Grimm is still alive and only injured. Whatever you cut out of their body disintegrates fast... So either something is preserving the blood, or that shit is somehow, a living thing...-
She said, as her own ignorance still didn’t stop her from venturing wild speculation that seemed straight out of a horror flick.
Luckily, Alina had already made quite a good amount of progress in heading deeper into the mine. So they didn’t have a lot of problems catching up to her. Some fighting noise could be heard earlier, so the faunus had probably taken care of any threat in the vicinities as well.
-We are back- She called out, looking to the fork in the way. Understanding why the faunus had decided to wait for them there. It certainly would be unwise if she continued down a path, and then they went the opposite way.
-That black stuff... No idea what it is exactly. But it looks an awful lot like Grimm matter... What does that mean is up in the air- She mentioned absentmindedly before shooting a concerned look towards Russet.
Clicking her tongue, the human shone her light on both pathways. A little way into one of them, her light caught a glimmer reflected from a small black and white shape. Some lesser Grimm. But it was the shimmer itself that caught her attention.
-Hold on for a second... Don’t kill these ones-
Marion said, holding out a hand to her teammates. Walking a fair bit ahead and preparing her daggers. Two of them embedded themselves into a creep who didn’t even know what hit him before it started disintegrating. A second one charged in her direction but was equally taken down with ease.
It was the third of the pack that Marion was interested in. Instead of using her regular ammunition, the blonde bandit took out one of her ice daggers and sent it flying towards the creature’s feet. Freezing it to the ground in the blink of an eye.
After it became clear that there would be no more reinforcements for that trio of unlucky monsters. Marion walked towards the still half-frozen Creep. Shinning her flashlight into it with interest. Marion’s head perked up as she found out what she was looking for. The cause of the reflection she'd seen earlier.
-This one has blood on it!- She said in a singsong voice. Showing her finding to the rest of the group. -So I take it this branch is the right one- She called out, recovering her regular daggers from the pile of ash that were the dead Grimm around this one. e
Stabbing the Creep a couple times, she took her ice dagger and holstered it to charge it later. Those were quite different from the regular ones, so she wasn’t looking forward to losing them.
Feeling satisfied with herself, Marion followed suit with the rest of the group as they made their way to the deepest part of the mine. And lo and behold, an ominous-looking hole marked the point where the excavation teams encountered the nest of subterranean Grimm.
Somehow it managed to look even creepier than the rest of the Grimm infected mine as if darkness was just a little darker there. If that even made sense.
-Huh... Ladies first?- She offered to her boss with a simple smile. Not fooling herself. Everyone knew that if someone was going to take the point in the most dangerous part of the operation, it would likely be Alina herself.

[attr="class","nikki109"]Going into the hole at the end of the tunnel was an experience, largely because a jump scare awaited her at the other end. Half-destroyed and half-decayed corpses animated by geists with these worm-like Grimm tunneling through the decomposing flesh. She didn’t know what the fuck they were, but wasn’t going to wait and find out. The thumb and middle finger of her right hand snapped and they all went up in flames. [break][break]
”Russet, Marion.” the wolf faunus called out behind her. ”I want you two to head back together and fix any issues that have popped up. It’s likely we left some tunneling Grimm behind. I’ll continue forward and radio if I need anything. If anyone tries to come up this way, stop them until I give the all clear.” [break][break]
The sight of those… things would cause absolute panic in the natives if they saw them. The first thing Alina needed to figure out was if there were more, and the second thing she needed to figure out was whether or not she could destroy them all and close the hole in the wall well enough to where they couldn’t simply come back. The mine being held up by security concerns that weren’t relevant would be a big hit, and if she could just kill all of the creatures inside… well, what they didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them. [break][break]
If they were going to delay the mine being operational, it would need to be an issue that Alina couldn’t solve here and now. The blood trails continued a bit farther down into the part of the mine that caused issues, and the available space to maneuver lowered significantly. It was so narrow that her back was almost scraping against the wall when she was walking sideways through the narrow walkway between two bigger rooms, but that was fine. That just meant it would be easier to actually seal up when all was said and done. [break][break]
Gray eyes surveyed the thin area ahead of her, looking for any signs of movement. Anything that moved this far into the mines was something that wasn’t supposed to be there, because it was impossible for any person to live this long without any supplies in a grimm-infested and blocked off mine. Something caused this abnormality, and if she could just find it and destroy it to solve the problem… that would be pretty nice, actually.

"L-living thing...?"
Okay, what the fuck?
She could accept pissed off werewolves and big-ass armored bears. She recognized the existence of acid-spitting giant centipedes, and even fucking sea dragons that breathed lightning. Hell, she had seen with her own eyes a fucking spooky ghost possess a fucking trash heap, and go chasing after people!
But a living pile of goopy Grimm sludge!?
That right there was pushing it.
What's next!? Breathable Grimm, hiding in the air!? Grimm shaped like fucking cheeseburgers, hiding in her lunchbox!? Holy shit, why did she ever leave the city...
She decided not to dwell on it much longer. That puddle was giving her the fucking creeps, and she didn't need more actual Creeps coming after her because of that.
Shaking her head as if she could wiggle the disturbing-ass thoughts out of it by force, she trailed along beside Marion, catching up to Alina to give their report. Though it seemed the boss had other plans, instead ordering them back the way they had come.
Back into the dark, spooky, blood-puddly, no-Alina part of the mine...
Aw man...
"Roger that, boss!" She wasn't looking forward to heading back that way. But she'd just have to get over it. She had a job to do.
Besides, how bad could the Grimm down in the mines be anyways?
So far looked like it was just a bunch of small fries. Nothing she couldn't handle.
Speaking of which, as she and Marion headed backwards, towards the way they'd entered the mine, she heard sounds of a scuffle, and darted forward to help out, thinking it was Sienna she was hearing.
It was not.
It was some chick with huge wings, huge muscles, and huge... eyes. Damn. And it looked like she was having some issues fighting off a Centinel that had wrapped around her. Russet couldn't exactly sit by and watch her struggle, though- looked like she was part of the reserve squad, though it was a bit irritating that she had just rushed ahead into the mine without following any orders to do so. What if she'd gotten killed? Or if Alina had been forced to blast away part of the tunnels, with her in it.
It was a safety hazard, and while the biker was far from being Ms. Safety, she wasn't exactly thrilled that so many of their reserve team had just leapt right into the thick of it, with no concern for proper communication.
Eh.
Whatever.
More Alina's problem than hers, and she wasn't going to get in the middle of that. She was just going to rescue the poor girl, and worry about protocol later.
Sprinting into action, she darted towards the fighting, running along the walls to kite and strafe the nasty acid-spitter. Unfortunately, she was coldly reminded by the Grimm itself that she was a scout, not a frontliner; as she moved by, guns blazing, the many-legged Grimm snatched her up with a constricting bind of its body, before flinging her sharply towards a wall. Ow...

Lio prowled through the tunnels, no closer to finding the missing Kozak group, dreading that they were far too lost. His own team might have taken on more than they should have. They would have to turn back soon, which shouldn't be especially hard given Lio's ability to navigate, but nevertheless it wasn't going to be pleasant.
His ears twitched as he heard sounds of fighting to his left. While it went against his instincts to move toward danger, he was pushed by the group to continue forward and he calmed himself, realizing that at least he wouldn't have to fight anything alone.
Him and his team charged out of the mineshaft to see two women being attacked by insectoid grimm, a cluster of Centinels. but in greater numbers than he had seen before.
Lio ran out, smashing through the head of a Centinel and splattering the shadow creatures features across the wall.
The other kozak volunteers stood behind, all deciding that Lio would be the best to lead the charge because whatever problem he came across he could just distract it with a clone. Not something he would took confidence in but something he would admit had come in useful before. Some species of lizards dropped their tails to escape being eaten, and, in a way, so could this rabbit faunus.
On an unrelated note, Lio was of the opinion that all King Taijtu could get fucked. Never going near something like that again....
Back to the present, the Kozak's emptied their rounds into whatever Centinels that the other fighters couldn't reach. Through the combined efforts of this detachment of the Revolutionary League, no Centinels would escape.
A particularly large Centinel escaped from Lio's swing, diving back down to dig to the opposite side of the tunnel to aim a acid blast towards one of the Kozaks. Choosing the most effortless option, Lio summoned a clone that would run straight towards the acid blast, letting itself get covered in burning purple fluid to save the other Kozak from that fate.
The real Lio drove his shovel into the underside of the grimm's carapace, ripping open it's insides where it would lay motionless as it dissolved into the air.
Lio turned to the other two people, a stunningly beautiful woman with black raven wings that were covered in electricity that shone like the sun and stars and an average looking redhead that had been waving a gun around. "Uh... don't worry he wasn't real..." Lio said, pointing to the slowly dissolving clone that had taken a blast of acid to it's upper body.
Lio stood their awkwardly as he was sure he didn't look very impressive. Him and the Kozak team were not so much the shining knights in armour as they were the volunteers covered in soil and debris. "Me and those guys are looking for a missing team of Kozaks that went deeper into the mines." Lio said, point his thumb back at the other Kozaks and the mine path they had just come out of. The scuffle within the tunnels between the winged titan and the Centinel was sure to draw attention at some point. Kelsie was good at fighting people and pipsqueaks aplenty but Grimm was another story. They could do things people couldn't do. So when the Centinel began to weave and wrap itself around Kelsie, there wasn't much she could do in such a confined space. No air to gain by flying. She would slam into the wall to try and scrape this thing off her, and the electricity was doing something, but not enough. Until gunshots rung out and the snaps of the bullets passing her echoing in her ears as someone came for the assist. They managed to light up the creature but it was a HARDY bug. Then more shots came from a different direction, as a team of reserves appeared to help out. This definitely drew more Centinel attention as more appeared from the tunnel walls. But, as quick as they appeared, they were cut down to leave the first to remain. It eventually uncurled from Kelsie and charged a smaller kid and just about when Kelsie was gunna call out to him, a second appeared and took a glob of acid to the chest, allowing said kid to despatch of the creature.
After the fighting was over, Kelsie kept her guard up to double check her surroundings before lowering her hands. "Cheers for the assists lads! You sayin' a team got lost deeper in the caves?" She turned to the small faunus guy, as a grin grew larger and with the electricity coursing through her body from her semblance, causing the wild look in her eyes to become even more so. "Le's go get 'em out then yea?" She began to lead the way deeper into the tunnel, taking a different route from their leader, and Kelsie being the smart gal she is, slammed her fist into the tunnel walls each ten metres, shattering a part of the rock... convieniently marking their way back.
Then, they came to a cave-in. Kelsie looked around for any other possible entrances before getting closer to hear. A few muffled voices came from the other side, which was good. "Back up!" She would shout out, both directed at the voices and her small following. She pulled back her fist, clenching tight. "CLEAR!" Another shouted call from her as she began slamming her fists into the cave in at incredible speeds and with each boulder shattered, the closer they would get to the lost team. It took few minutes of smashing the rocks and boulders, showcasing her strength and her cocky attitude to back it up and when it blasted open at the end, the team was free to get out. "Alright! What's next!"

Welp. She wasn’t saying no to that order, that was for sure. Let Alina deal with the creepy cave, with those freaky... Whatever the hell they were.
Things were starting to feel like a zombie movie all of a sudden. Regular Grimm, she could deal with, she liked to deal with. But there was something inherently wrong about those fuckers. Marion felt like they were something she shouldn’t be messing with, lest she ends up like that.
-Will do- She replied, turning and following suit behind Russet. With the comforting knowledge that if something fucked up happened, she wouldn’t be on the front lines to take the brunt of it... Then again, if Alina somehow kicked the bucket, which was doubtful, things would go awry really fast...
But it wasn’t like she was capable of dealing with anything strong enough to give the Hetman any trouble, so...
Using her flashlight to the best of her ability, Marion ran behind Russet when the other human of the little expedition bolted straight towards some sounds of fighting. Only to find a strange woman who seemed vaguely familiar. With an even bigger Centinel wrapping itself around her wings.
Marion had seen enough horny cartoons to know where things were heading. So she knew she needed to help her, and fast... But maybe not, maybe she didn’t need to do that at all. As Russet was quicker to the punch. And after some help from a Rabbit boy who came out of nowhere. The Centinel seemed to be done and dealt with.
Between clones, electric wings, and slipping through walls, the semblance kids seemed to have everything under control with the remaining bugs. But they let their guards down at the end, discussing some missing team or something. They didn’t notice the group of centinels tunneling the roof over their heads.
Marion did. She kinda knew how Grimm acted and how some of them liked being sneaky.
-Heads up!- She called, one dagger held between each finger, as she sprayed the ceiling with a barrage of projectiles, taking down a handful of Grimm. And directing the attention from the fireteam towards the remaining ones.
-Alright... You three! Cover me, gotta pick up my shit- She ordered the nearby soldiers, she couldn’t carry infinite ammo around, she wasn’t a fucking mule. So this actually was part of her training at Beacon. And as short as her time there had been, that fucker Osgoode really liked working them good.
The blonde bandit let the rest of the crew handle finding the missing team, or whatever. She felt much safer now that she had so many numbers around her. So she let her mind rest for a second. Hoping they soon would be able to put up some fucking lights inside the mine.
-Yo, why haven’t we put some fucking lights inside the mine?- She promptly asked the soldiers following them, receiving a mere shrug as an answer. Marion shook her head. No one respected logistics anymore.

Following the bird woman, Lio was pleased to find out she had a proven strength to her. Powerful enough to punch through stone, she was able to find the missing Kozak team very quickly. Perhaps reckless to do while all of them were underground, but Lio trusted that there was a method to her actions.
Lio and the other Kozak's approached the recently found team, bringing them supplies and checking them over for injuries. This was all they were meant to do and they would likely decide to run back to the entrance now that they had recovered the missing team.
Yet something didn't feel right.
Lio's ears twitched with anxiety as he raised his weapon once again. Perhaps it was the recent memory of being buried alive a little less than a half-hour earlier, but Lio sullenly looked up, expecting fate to reprise itself.
Unfortunately this had to be one of the times he was right.
An array of Centinels had continued to follow them, along the ceiling and crumbling the rock without them even knowing. Lio had thought he had gotten the last of them but apparently he was shortsighted in his attack, and was to pay for it.
Lio swore and tried to run for cover, trying to shield his head from the raining gravel. Of course, this blocked his sight in the already disorienting scene, leaving him open to a stone the size of his head that silently dislodged itself from the ceiling dropping above him.
Lio never had a chance. Rock slammed into the top of his skull and he dropped to the ground instantly.
It was frankly a miracle that he didn't crack his skull.
He blinked, stupidly, as though he wasn't sure what had just happened. What he did know was that he was flat on the ground, danger was around him, and he needed to get out. Crawling away, Lio tries to pick himself off the ground, finding the act an incredible struggle, not accounting for the fact his legs feeling like jelly after that blow to the head.
He turns around to see the Centinels nearing them, recognizing his fear and moving toward him. Out of options, he rolls onto his back, lifting his shovel up like a club, prepared to fight his way out again. Blood seeped from a head wound he didn't know he had, seeping into his eyes forcing him to turn his gaze away from the enemy so he could swipe the stain out of his vision. He blinked, bruised and terrified to see the Centinels in greater numbers than he accounted for and a real strike of fear went through him. He lifted his shovel once again but without the certainty he had the last time, shivering but maintains an indignant glare throughout. He wasn't going to die here, not when he hadn't done all the things that he wanted to.
But just as surprised as the Grimm, Lio watched with wide eyes as a blade pierced through the head of the nearest Centinel about to attack him as a storm of knives followed, slaughtering the swarm of centipedes.
Another woman, a blonde woman had entered and taken care of the last of the ambushing Centinels, most likely saving their asses in the process. "Uh. Guh..." Lio choked out, trying to compose himself after getting caught off guard. He tried to erase that feeling of fear. They were safe now... because someone stronger than him was there in time. A pang of shame struck him, and he closed his eyes and grit his teeth, disgusted at himself.
He should have been strong enough to save himself. Did he learn nothing in the time he was a slave? Yet, of course, he didn't survive back then because he was strong and unyielding. He only survived because he was lucky and not worth the energy to kill. This was his failure. But he wouldn't stew in it for any longer. He joined the Kozaks to become stronger and he would eventually become more powerful... but that wouldn't happen today, it seemed.
He picked himself up, unconcerned with his injuries and now tattered shirt, seeing the scattered weapons, sharp throwing knives that the blonde woman had used.
Lio would walk over to a few and slowly pick them up until he had about ten of the blades. He would give them back to their owner, blunt side first, and gives the woman a silent nod. "I am... grateful for you arriving when you did... I am indebted to you," said Lio, completely serious. "Ah, also my name is Lio, Lio Agouti, a son of Vacuo. You can find a lantern in my pack. Battery powered. You can have it." the rabbit faunus said quietly, sliding his backpack off his shoulders onto the ground before Marion before turning away to check on the other Kozaks.
Lio's attention was taken again as he turned his head to look down another shaft to only see yet more Centinels were crawling towards them, slithering along the walls and ceiling of the cave system without a care for the piles of still disintegrating Centinels that they only managed to kill only mere minutes before. "I can't wait to get the fuck out of here..." Lio muttered before summoning a rabbit clone with what aura he had left and sent it towards the swarm.
The cloned Lio would charge within the swarm, hacking and slashing but not able to stop everything from crawling past. The clone would be overrun as Centinels surrounded it, climbing up it's legs, grasping it's arms tightly enough until it couldn't swing it's weapon, and finally crawling up it's head to deliver hundreds of tiny bites.
Of course it was a clone. It didn't have a feeling about it either way. But Lio did, seeing the obscene scene and sighed.
"This really is shit..."

Surprising Marion. The bunny kid who had gotten his head open by a falling boulder stepped up to pick up her discarded throwing knives and handle a great bunch of them back to Marion.
And they say chivalry is dead.
-Oh, is that so?- The blonde woman said with undisguised interest when the boy mentioned being in debt with her. One can almost hear the gears on her head turning as she measured the boy up and down with a hand cupping her own chin.
-Well, I’ll take your word for it. I’m sure there’s something I can use you for if you wanna pay back that debt- Marion said with the most angelic smile she could give. -And you can call me Marion. Lio, and no need, I have a flashlight, it’s just a drag to have to go shinning it everywhere-
And with that, Marion’s expression returned to normalcy, but still pleased after acquiring a nice guinea pig for her to use later... Or was it guinea rabbit? Would she be racist by asking that out? Maybe.
Well, he seemed to be bleeding quite heavily, so he would need to survive first. So Marion guessed she could give the rabbit boy a hand in not dying for the time being. And as the boy sent a clone towards a swarm of Centinels, they could only watch in mounting discomfort how the aura construct was ripped apart limb for limb by the monsters.
It was honestly a drag. If the centinels came all out at once, they could kill them all or at least have a glorious last stand as Marion ran away from the site. But no, the Grimm seemed intent on popping one on one, or in small groups, from the most unexpected directions and with the most bizarre timing.
-Alright, time to get down and dirty-
Marion called out with a sigh as she started swinging knives left and right, culling the horde and allowing for some of the fireteam members to get some good shots as well.
-Huh... I’m out of ammo again... Hey you!-
The blonde said to one of the soldiers standing next to her. One with a pair of tomahawks hanging on his belt. -Gimme that- She said, all but ripping the axes from the man’s pants before she broke up running towards the Grimm.
The nearest one took a flying ax to the head. While Marion fished on her pocket for the last of her Ice daggers. Throwing it in front of the horde and slowing it down for a second. Enough for her to throw the second tomahawk and pick up some of her daggers before falling back again.
Now she at least had enough ammo for another round if they didn’t manage to take down the Grimm in the next following moments. But for the time being, she preferred to save both energy and ammo and see if someone else had any idea how to deal with shit.
Maybe Russet or punchy girl could deal with it? That would be the ideal situation, but if not, she was prepared to give it another shot alongside her new slave/companion, Lio.

Kelsie had just finished clearing up when slowly but surely, more of these creepy crawly bastards continued to keep appearing. She blocked the majority of attacks sent her way as she assessed the situation slowly. A human was here with zero light source and relying on the muzzle of her gun to light her way, and some bunny boy was here too. Suitable enough, but these Centinels were getting out of hand. As one lurched in her direction, she batted it lightly out of the way before she had a fantastic idea. Once that would be told in the halls of the dead. With a wide and wild grin across her face, she began to... taunt and "collect" the Centinels. Drawing attention to herself with extensions of her wings and the lightning crackling through her body, she knew it was time for it to fade soon enough.
As she moved around, punching Centinels lightly enough to keep them alive but hard enough to attract their attention, soon all of them were targetting her. "CLEAR!" She would bellow out as all the Centinels jumped her, slowly covering her form and the minimal lighting from the electricity faded as she was consumed by Grimm. However, for those with night vision grant from faunus traits, could see the mound of Grimm jolting and pulsating with grotesque and vile movements, before a huge surge of electricity convulsed through the bodies of each and every single Grimm ontop of her. Between the sounds of electricity, there was a wild laughter that filled the air as the mound grew smaller and smaller before there was nothing left but the shadowed visage of the winged devil that was Kelsie.
The electricity had faded and she felt the blood and ash of the Grimm slowly turn to it's strange mist as it faded away before she shivered and cheered out. "That was fuckin' wild! Grimm is all clear, let's keep pushin' ey?" She still had that same wild grin across her face, but it was dying down as the adrenaline was wearing off for now. "Ay you, bunny lad and familiar lookin' lass, lessee we go catch up to boss, give her an assist, unless you have better ideas?" She would speak in a rather thick accent, that gave her even more of a brash, thuggish appearance. [attr="class","nikki109"]The area past the main mine opened up into a bigger area, obviously burrowed through by a multitude of Grimm because it couldn’t possibly be man-made by the descriptions given by the villagers and the sheer… unviability of the areas for anything. Grimm-shaped tunnels overlapped to make an area that anyone taller than Alina would have issues going through, but she pressed on because there was some substance that was trailing on the walls and she wanted to see where it ended. [break][break]
The narrow passageways ended up converging at the end, or what was going to be as far as Alina went anyway into a decently sized cavern. Several human corpses in various states of decay were there, along with two Grimm that the wolf faunus had never seen before. They had black, spherical bodies covered in bone-like plates and spikes, and a bunch of fleshy red tentacles that had barbs at the tips of the tentacles. [break][break]
They noticed her a bit too late to react, as once the situation was assessed a snap of her middle finger and thumb incinerated them both. The wolf faunus could have sworn she heard some sort of noise that was close to a voice coming from one or both of them just as they burned, but they were dead too quickly to be sure. This area would need to be filled in with something later. She wasn’t sure what the bodies were doing there or what the Grimm were doing with them – as they definitely seemed to be tampered with – but that wasn’t her problem at the present. [break][break]
Only thing to do now was go back and hope nothing collapsed. ”Some bodies in the back here.” she’d note over the radio. ”Need some stretchers to pull them out so we can just seal the opening.”[break][break]
She'd burn the opening a bit wider and taller on her way out, but she wasn't going to be the one dragging those bodies out if she could help it. She'd be too focused on making them not fucking disintegrate and wouldn't be focusing on killing everything grimm-like that moved. [break][break]
