Ume Toyouke
" An eye for an eye."
Age 18 Gender Female Faction Haven Academy Tier Beginner Face Claim Holo The Wise Wolf, Spice and Wolf OOC Name Akaihana |
Character Traits
Date of Birth: January 10 7AV
Species: Faunus (Fox)
Hometown: Forever Fall
Romantic Orientation: Bisexual
Hair Color/Style: long orange hair usually with red ribbons and small bells tied at the sides.
Eye Color: Gold
Aura Color: Purple
Height: 153 cm.
Weight: 46 kg.
Appearance: Even when angry, Ume doesn't particularly look intimidating at all and she tends to like it that way. Her resting face tends to rest somewhere between smug and trying to look cute. She has an average complexion with little in the way of freckles or blemishes. Ume's sense of fashion isn't particularly varied. She wears the same somewhat tattered red and white monk's robes every day opting to wash it regularly instead of keeping a massive catalog of clothing. She wears geta socks and woven sandals all the time liking the flexibility and freedom they offer as opposed to regular shoes.
Personality: Rage, an emotion common to Ume even on the best of days but most wouldn't be able to tell. In recent months Ume has obtained some level of control over the emotion though it was always there bubbling in the background. Those who knew were often quick to write her off as broken goods and that just made the problem even worse. A prominent side effect of this fault was spite. Ume was all too quick to get back at people who slighted her and it often manifested in mischief and pranks of all sorts. Ume loved a good practical joke, so much so that it extended beyond those who she wanted to get back at and often ended up involving innocent parties thought always to a lesser extent. Ume did have a sense of personal justice after all even if it was warped.
Despite these rather glaring negative traits Ume isn't a total lost cause. Deep down she really wishes she could be accepted. She yearns for a place to belong though would never admit it. Several misunderstandings and bouts of poor fortune have molded Ume into the person she is today leaving her unable to or at the very least bad at socializing properly with people or empathizing. Her thoughts usually start and end with how will this effect me. Occasionally, when the chips are down and it really matters Ume is bound to do the right thing. That inner voice that tells you to do good is still there just rendered quiet from years of loneliness and anger.

Combat & Inventory
Kitsune's Wrath
Rank of Semblance: E
Semblance Type: Transformation
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: The semblance causes her to take the form of a kitsune and increases her speed, agility, and strength.
Description of Semblance: When Ume activates the semblance her aura flows around her like a miasma and coalesces into the shape of a kitsune with two tails. Her body in this form looks mostly real though if one payed attention they could see it ripple and occasionally leak smoky miasmic aura giving away that the normal faunas body is somewhere inside. While active the semblance increases Ume's speed, agility, and strength for a three post duration with a cooldown of three posts.
Drawbacks of Semblance: While the semblance is active all of her wrath, spite and mischief are brought to the forefront. She is more underhanded and mean spirited in this form and may say or do things she wouldn't otherwise reverting to a state before she learned any control.
Kogitsune

Biography
History
Little is known of Ume's parentage. The events that set Ume down the path she now walks happened very early on in her childhood. At around the age of five she and her parents were traveling in an airship through Forever Fall when a mechanical error lead to the failure of the ship and its unfortunate crash landing. Ume through some feat of luck or providence survived the crash while her family and the pilot were less lucky. Further fortune smiled on Ume that day as a passing group of hunters from the nearby village of Luòyè came to investigate the crash and found Ume terrified and traumatized weeping over the bodies of her family.
The villagers took her in and for the next three years would raise her. A task that proved difficult. Ume, even as a young child was a terror. The trauma from the crash had driven the poor girl nearly mad. She didn't trust many and was prone to practical jokes and misbehaving. This behavior would eventually lead to Ume's removal from the village. She had decided one day to pull a prank on one of her surrogate parents which did not go over well. He scolded Ume losing his cool and yelling at her with more rage than she had ever previously seen at the village. The sight of it pushed her to fight or flight and Ume's semblance awakened. She lashed out at the villager leaving cuts across his face and pounced the man clawing and punching him in blind fury until she was pulled off by a fellow villager. They did not take these actions lightly and saw her beastly semblance as a threat and told her to leave their home. Ume was no longer welcome.
Dejected, she left Luòyè wandering deep into the woods with no clear destination. Her rage and sadness simmering inside assured that she would not survive in those woods long before grimm found her. Ume found herself surrounded and near moment from death when a lone man stepped into the clearing. He wore white and red monastic garb and wielding a shakujo. The monk quickly dispatched the grimm with the grace one could only obtain from years of martial training. He turned to Ume and asked her where she was from. Ume told the man all she knew of her life so far and that she was exiled from the village for losing control. The man offered to take her to the monastery he called home to be trained in their ways and to learn control. Ume agreed still too young to fully grasp what such agreement meant. It would require devoting one's life strict teachings.
At first Ume did well. She learned the traditions of the monastery and was taught the Dance of Swords and Staves, the martial art the monks of that temple studied and used to obtain strength and discipline. She was good at it but lacked the true discipline required. She frequently got into trouble goofing off and pulling practical jokes. She just couldn't seem to help it. It seemed to be in her nature. Things grew worse when her old anger started to bubble up once more. The smallest slight proved enough to get Ume to retaliate. She was told she needed to control her temper before she could advance any further in her training. Ume felt this was unfair. She was talented that should be enough right? She slowly grew to resent the monks of the monastery and eventually fled taking with her a prized weapon that belonged to the monastery. Kogitsune was meant to be given to the best of the students of her flock and Ume stole it.
Ume started back in the direction of the village that had spurned her eight years prior. She hoped she could at the very least be given directions on where to go to find a new town to live. Ume would receive none such help. She went to those who had helped her so long ago pleading for help only to be turned away. This angered Ume, she stormed out of the village letting her semblance take hold and tore through the forest. She destroyed any hunting traps she found from the village, cut fishing nets, and destroyed signs along the way. She was about to destroy another trap when the voice of a man pulled her away from the task.
The man before Ume was another monk. This one in tattered old robes. He did not dissuade Ume's actions merely pointed out doing such things would bring her no real joy. Ume was reluctant to listen and tried merely walking off but for the next few days the man simply followed offering company and conversation but mostly he watched. Eventually Ume stopped trying to dodge the man and started to listen. He taught her slowly how she might control her anger more properly. He was not strict nor demanding he simply let Ume learn at her own pace. Eventually she gained enough control that her temper was less likely to boil over.
The man's name was Satotta. He told Ume of another student he had and where he had gone. He told Ume if she wanted to find purpose that she might find it doing good and fighting the grimm. Ume agreed and set off with a destination and the name of a single student in mind. She would find this person and enroll at Haven.

Ume means plum which is purple like her aura. The character herself is based heavily on Kitsune and Nogitsune mythology. Even her sword name is a reference!
