Ryan Vas
"..."
Age 18 Gender Male Faction Haven Academy Tier Beginner Face Claim Kazuma - Noragami OOC Name Redhood |
Character Traits
Date of Birth: December 27th, 6AV
Species: Human
Hometown: Argus, Mistral
Romantic Orientation: Heterosexual
Hair Color/Style: Brown, slighlty unkempt.
Eye Color: Dark green
Aura Color: Emerald
Height: 205cm
Weight: 92kg.
Appearance: Ryan is by no means small, standing at over 205 centimeters tall, he easily surpasses the average height of the Kingdoms. And although he's not a broad-shouldered guy nor exactly muscular, the fact that he still towers over most people makes him an intimidating sight. Given that by the way he carries himself, he seems to be even taller than he is.
When not wearing his Heaven uniform, he's usually seen wearing a black suit with red shoulder pads. And, if feeling casual enough, he only wears the shirt of said suit. In an inner pocket of his suit jacket, there's a small, silver locket with a picture of him and his brother.
Under his clothes, there's a deep, diagonal scar on his chest. A constant reminder of a memory he desperately wishes to forget.
Personality: Ryan's absolute lack of contact with humans beings, besides his immediate family, led him to be extremely shy, quiet and distant. Thankfully, at least for him, he manages to hid all of this under a normal-ish looking facade thanks to the years of discipline carved on him by his father.
The only person who could've said that they truly knew Ryan was his brother. And if he were to describe him, he would say that Ryan is a kind, sensitive and fiercely loyal person. With a sarcastic, and sometimes dark, sense of humor. But since the death of his brother, Ryan has turned into an even more distant and outright mute person. Closing himself off from the external world.
Ryan's look on the world never was an idealistic one. His father put extra care into making sure that they sons knew damn well that the world was a bleak, danger filled one. Where death could come from every corner. But Ryan never took his word to heart until the Fall. Where the world made sure to show him how damn right his father was.
And ever since the Fall, Ryan's facade changed itself to one of quiet stoicism. As if he lived day after day in autopilot.

After entering Haven and finally coming to terms with his brother death. Ryan finally allowed himself to replace Aarden's aging iron blade he forged years ago by an steel blade. With the new blade being sharper than the old one, Aarden's should be more dangerous in combat than before.
Uzi, as its unoriginal name indicates, is an Uzi submachine gun that Ryan bought after realizing that being solely a melee fighter sacrificed flexibility. Being a relatively lightweight weapon, especially when compared to Aarden, Uzi is strapped in Ryan's left hip, being in the opposite of Aarden's one. Using its 40 rounds magazines, Uzi use is mostly to create walls of lead to keep away enemies or keep them at the defensive to give Ryan maneuvering space rather than to inflict centralized or precise damage on his opponents.
After buying Uzi, Ryan sent the firearm to have its inner mechanisms upgraded. Now Uzi has a higher RPMs and muzzle velocity that translates into deadlier lead spewed into his opponents, although its magazines now dry up faster.

Biography
History
The Vas family. No one is truly sure for how long the name has been going around in Mistral. But what it is known about them, is that they've done their part in Mistral's defense for generations. First as soldiers, and now, since the opening of the Academies, as Huntsmen. Due to this, being born into the Vas Family is not an easy task. Since children are pressured to follow their elder footsteps, or face rejection and being disinherited.
Ryan and his twin brother Aarden were born in December 27th, 7AV to an unknown mother. His father, a veteran of the Great War and one of the few survivors of the Vas lineage, was also one of the first Huntsmen to graduate from Haven. Due to this, nothing less was expected from Ryan and Aarden than being the second generation of Vas Huntsmen.
While other kids played in the parks or attend school, the twins would spend their days training under their father's wing. With homeschooling sessions thrown in between to keep them in line with the education they would receive in school. The twins had little to no contact with other kids of their age. Thus, they formed a bond that other siblings could only dream of having.
But as the years passed, one thing became painfully clear. Whenever they trained or fought with Grimm (with supervision, of course,) Ryan was slower, weaker, and, generally, just worse than Aarden. His father took quick notice of this and started to focus more time into Aarden. But the later never got cocky or gave up on his brother.
Whenever Ryan struggled to keep up with training, Aarden would be there with a helping hand. They would spend extra hours up at night with the sole purpose of Ryan improving. And, although with time Ryan was capable of beating Aarden in terms of agility and stamina, he was just weaker and frail than him. But Aarden still never gave up. With time, Ryan started to idolize his brother. Seeing him as an example to follow, and as the person he someday hoped to be.
In 24AV, the twins were supposed to be aboard the Airship to Mistral Academy. And yet when it left, only Aarden was on it. Ryan broke one of his legs when a training exercise got out of hand, and he was unable to attend the admission tests. But he was ok with it. After all, he would get another couple years of training under his father.
Then, the Fall occurred.
First, it was the news of Haven's airship not arriving at Atlas for the Vytal Festival. Then the picking of a distress signal followed by hours filled with anxiety as the rescue teams departed to the crash zone. And finally, the body count.
More than a year has passed since that fateful day. Ryan's hasn't talked to anyone ever since. And now, after being accepted into Haven, and with his leg healed. Ryan's ready to face the Academy that took from him the most precious person in his life.
His ancestors wanted this.
His father wanted this.
His brother would've wanted this.
