For all her academic faults, Primrose was by no means a slacker. Limited experience with most matters related to education had not only made her deficient, but unaware of the full extent of what those deficiencies even were- But she knew at least enough to know she had to do better. She hadn't come all the way to Haven to flunk out for not being well-versed enough in basic academics to pass her classes. The library was a place she'd become quite familiar with after resolving to improve her test scores, and when she wasn't training or attempting to make new friends, the Faunus spent a good deal of her time there.
That had made it easy to be early for the tutoring session she'd arranged with one of the other students- One Argent Steele, who she'd heard was rather good at math. Reading wasn't hard- It wasn't exactly easy, but from Prim's experience with it, it was a skill one could develop just by doing more of it, and that wasn't really hard. But on the subject of math, with which beyond basic forms of addition and subtraction, she had no formal experience or teaching, she'd recognized her need for assistance.
Perhaps she went a little too far, though, as in the time leading up to the tutoring session, Primrose had elected to go through the library and borrow as many books about math as she could possibly find. Granted, she wasn't quite sure what was and wasn't about math...Rather, she'd just looked to see which books had numbers in them for purposes beyond the page count, and assumed they were math books.
So, when the time came for their practice to begin, the Faunus could be found eagerly waiting in the midst of what seemed to be a small fort's worth of books- Some of which were indeed related to math (though likely not the kind Primrose was ready to learn), and others that to anyone else, were quite obviously not math books.
Well...at the very least, she'd been more than on-time, and had come very much prepared- Even if all that preparation wasn't going to prove to be of much help.

I know you got hate in you. Most do. Trick is to use it, 'stead of it usin' you.
But you know this. Vengeance is a motivator, not the motive. Don't hunt 'em 'cause you been wronged. Hunt 'em 'cause what they did was wrong. There's a world of difference there, kid. One makes you selfish. The other makes you a hero.
And I see a hero in you.

Looking over what material he'd put together, Argent rubbed a hand over the back of his neck and the muscles that had gotten stiff while he'd been reading, and exhaled a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. The snake Faunus pressed his knuckles deeper in a bid to ease some of the stiffness from said muscles, but was only partially successful.
The truth was that he only ever had been on the latter end of a teacher-student relationship, and honestly had no idea how to even approach teaching someone. Certainly, he couldn't expect to measure up to Shadecloak or Jade or Shin as a mentor, even if it was in an area he was supposedly proficient at. The best he could do, he supposed, was to try to pass on the knowledge he had of mathematics as a whole, and the concepts that came along with it in varying degrees. To that end, he'd put together a quick summary of all the mathematical concepts that were supposed to be taught in Remnant's standardized schooling system from ages twelve to seventeen in a bound paper folder, figuring that anything that needed to be explored in detail could be determined as and when they went along. He didn't know much about the other Faunus, seeing as she was quite new to Haven proper, but going over the basics should be useful for anyone, and if she turned out to be a quick learner those basics could easily be skipped for the next lesson.
Briefly, he wondered if this was what the teachers had to go through every day in their spare time for all the students in Haven, and couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy twinge within him. Small wonder that he'd rarely seen Shadecloak smile, come to that.
Standing up, the snake Faunus stretched, feeling his bones creak, and glanced up at the clock on the desk. It was just about time. Pulling his bag towards him, Argent made his way over to the spare classroom that they'd booked for the session, pausing in the doorway to look over the small fort of books that had been assembled within for a moment before raising a hand in hesitant greeting.
"Good evening, Primrose. "
