Rin Hellebore
"Oh no, I'm so sorry!"
Age 18 Gender Female Faction Haven Academy Tier Freshman Face Claim Maki Nishikino OOC Name Fluffy |
Character Traits
Date of Birth: 19th of December
Species: Human
Hometown: Mistral
Romantic Orientation: O-oh dear...
Hair Color/Style: Crinson red, shoulder length.
Eye Color: Deep Purple
Aura Color: Blood Red
Height: 148cm
Weight: 39kg
Appearance: Rin is exceedingly tiny for a human of her age. Both weight and height being below the average. The girl looks incredibly fragile and delicate, her skin almost silken. For her age, all of her fat tissue has gone into her curves. It makes it appear like she is focussing on making her bust and butt stand out more than she actually is, making her appear borderline slutty at times, especially for a huntress. Something that, whether complimented or negatively commented on, makes the girl uncomfortable. Clothes wise she has an incredible fashion sense, often wearing something new and elegant, as if to hide her personality, flaws and failures behind her appearance.
Personality: Rin is as meek as she looks fragile. Unwilling to take confrontation or responsibilities out of the fear of failure, she often hangs out by herself, with her books. Training sessions do occur, though they typically focus on her ability to utilize her weapons, rather than utilizing her semblance.
When approached, Rin is submissive, apologetic, unfocussed and nervous. Typically preferring to cook up an excuse to interacting with others. However, the girl is incredibly well mannered and will not cut off an interaction that makes her uncomfortable, if the other party is engaging. Often placing her own needs and desires below the desires of those around her, giving her an air of selflessness. If the girl's suffering can ease the burden of another, she often will. Rin does not believe in herself, having been raised with the understanding that she is worth significantly less than the rest of her family, due to not having inherited the trademark semblance and looks. This makes her rather unwilling to assist herself, as she has been taught that if the world hurts, it's probably well deserved. When it comes to others however, the girl does everything she can to help - even if that comes at her own expense. There are a few times where a belief is stuck in her head, which she won't bend from. For instance, if she is convinced that someone is innocent, she's going to prevent others from harming them, even if it means standing up to a bully.
Because of the nature of her semblance, Rin also needs to be excessively pedantic about everything bodily. Eating correctly, excercising correctly, getting the correct amount of cardio. If anything is off, Rin risks going anemic. In an anemic state, the girl is lethargic, fragile - and strangely looks precisely like a Hellebore. White hair, red eyes.
Color Naming Rule: Rin, both in name and schematics, lies closely with the color red.

Combat & Inventory
Crimson Symphony
Rank of Semblance: D
Semblance Type: Transformation
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: Rin undergoes a physical transformation and becomes capable of controlling, hardening and generating blood.
Description of Semblance: Rin's skin turns pale as snow, her eyes turn red, while her canines turn long and sharp. Wounding herself allows the girl to bleed obscene amounts of blood to augment her attacks. Controlling, emitting and hardening said blood to devastating effects.
The blood has no blood type and can be donated to anyone, allowing Rin to seal wounds in others and prevent them from bleeding out.
Drawbacks of Semblance: Having to wound herself before being useful in combat has severe drawbacks. Not only does she take damage before fighting begins, it also severely screws with her mentality. While there isn't a deterministic duration Rin can remain transformed, while being transformed her semblance constantly drains her health. Actively using abilities drains her health faster than simply remaining transformed. Upon leaving her transformed state, Rin is incapable of activating her transformation again, until she has restored her lost blood.
Judgement & Vanity
Rank of Weapon(s): E
Description of Weapons(s): The weapons are two simple tantos, roughly thirty-five centimeter long. They are sharpened only on one side, allowing them to rest against skin with their backsides, giving some ability to block. At the bottom of each tanto there is a oval shaped metal ring, which at first glance appears able to hold a gemstone. Instead, Rin has placed a metallic chain here. This allows her to encase the weapon in blood, launching it like a blood projectile, then yoinking the tantos back via the chain.

Biography
History
Even before Rin was born, things were lined up in preparation. The girl had been planned, and that into a family that took heritage extremely seriously; The Hellebores. The mother was part of the main family, hoping for an heiress. The father was part of the branch family, far enough out that there weren't any immediate concerns for keeping it in the family. The marriage was arranged, their happiness irrelevant, the continued strength of the family secured. Though, as with everything, plans rarely go without a hitch.
The birth had several complications. Cynthia suffered from a ruptured wall inside her womb. On top of this, she suffered from postpartum hemorrhaging. The color was draining from her rapidly, as Rin's steady breathing was heard in the background. There was no crying, no reactions, just quiet contemplated breathing. All Cynthia asked, as if she was aware that this would lead only one way, was to hold her daughter once. Just once. So while apologizing to her daughter, holding her in her arms, Cynthia passed.
Yet, the disasters did not end there. For while the family genes were expected to have passed on to the girl, they had not. Rin was born with firey red hair and eyes so deep and purple they couldn't be considered red. It was also concluded, early on, that while the girl had a semblance, it most certainly wasn't the one usually connected to the Hellebore family. Combining this with her mother's passing and Rin was instantly branded an ill omen. An eyesore. A disgusting creature. A failure. Instead of being groomed as an heiress, Rin was groomed as a servant. To be of use to everyone around her, to be well mannered and polite. To have no voice, choice or desires of her own. It pained her father some, as despite the girl's rather unique circumstances and clear differences, he could still see a beautiful soul in her eyes. Still see the relations this girl could've had to her mother, Cynthia.
Whether it was by fortune or misery, the fate of Rin was a rather simple one to follow. The girl was a servant with a semblance. The girl was to support the family in all endeavors. So having her be trained in the huntsman academy, so she could function as an assistant bodyguard - or at the very least a competent meatshield, fell natural to the family. Being trained by her father, soon thereafter, give or take a few years, she became the sparring partner of one of the main family members. Erytheia Hellebore. Their situation was a rather difficult one, because neither of the two girls seemed too interested in fighting the other. Unfortunately, the stakes were ever present. If Rin failed her duties as a bodyguard, then there was no reason to keep her in the family. They would marry her off, forever removing the stain on the family name. Forever casting Rin away from the only thing that she knew. Simultaneously, Theia needed to be a competent combatant. Showing skill, finesse and devotion. If too much mercy was shown, the two girls would be in trouble with Alra. So day after day the two clashed. Day after day they evolved their techniques and skillsets. Day after day, Rin left the encounters bruised and battered, yet strangely fulfilled. Despite how scary it was, despite how much her body ached, she felt - for the first time - that she was making a positive difference. In the few moments before and after their sparring sessions, when Rin had a few moments to speak with Theia, she even figured that they were friends. A very first friend, in a world otherwise so alone.
Theia, being a few years older, seemed to vanish at a time. According to Roberto, the one and only friend Rin had ever made, had given up on the dreams, instead deciding to step into politics or some such. Rin didn't understand. Rin couldn't understand. Though, somewhere, the girl felt a little relieved. Theia deserved better than to suffer on a battlefield. As for Rin herself, the girl's fate was practically already set in stone. Kept at home, the girl's duties had kept increasing. In the years after Theia disappeared, Rin functionally had three full-time jobs. One was to function as a servant to the main branch. Cleaning, massaging, servicing and all that came with it. In the second job, the redhead was to be a self taught scholar. Read everything that she needed to know, learn everything that she needed to learn, most of it without support from anyone but her father. Lastly, she needed to be a warrior. Sparring with the other Hellebores who could utilize her pressence for their own training. It wasn't uncommon for Rin to get less than five hours of sleep a day. Nor was it uncommon for her to be sick and nauseus. Even still, she kept doing the best that she could, all the while being reaffirmed consistently that she wasn't good enough. That, in fact, she never would be good enough to be a Hellebore.
When Rin herself came of age, she was sent off immediately to do the Huntsman tests, almost as if the family couldn't wait a moment longer to get her out of the house. The tests themselves weren't much of a problem for the girl to pass - sparring with Theia and her father for so many years made them almost trivial. Rin was fairly competent at assisting everyone around her, though she seemed to shine a little less when the spotlight was placed on her. Plus she seemed to prefer avoiding a fight, rather than engaging in one. As for the mental aptitude test, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Just a sweet, kind and honest girl looking to fulfill the role that she had been given. The duty that she had yet to fulfill.
