Heaven's Gate.
Russet paused at the door, taking a moment to ready herself for the flood of old memories about to slam her in the face when she stepped through the threshold, back into a little piece of her old life- arguably one of the only genuinely positive things from that time. Her hands were tingling, and her feet itched. A big, dopey, grin, crossed her face as she reached for the door, swinging it wide open as she entered.
She was drinking here well before she was legally of age, and she couldn't count the number of times she'd gotten so smashed she passed out, or blacked out and woke up down the street, or got in a fight and got booted out, or ended up doing something dumb and fun. A hell of a lot of good times.
And she remembered the girl that worked there.
With the brown hair, and the kind smile, and the pretty voice. She remembered her.
Which is why seeing her a couple of days ago was so exciting! She had completely forgotten about this place while she was in prison, and she'd been so busy with her new job lately, she hadn't taken the time to come looking for it again. Which was a damn shame! How the hell did she forget about such a wonderful little piece of home?
A look around the bar filled her to the brim with nostalgia, as she took in all the people around here- some new, some regulars; humans, faunus, whatever, it didn't matter here, as long as you paid your tab, and you weren't an ass to the barkeeps.
She distinctly remembered throwing down with more than a few wannabe tough guys who wouldn't leave the poor girls alone.
Lotta broken noses in this bar, for sure.
She adjusted her jacket, rolling her shoulders as her gaze turned from the dartboard where she used to hustle fresh meat, to the stage, where she could remember more than her fair share of drunks who couldn't hold a tune doing their damnedest to try.
Her grin widened further as the lady of the hour came out from the back, prompting her to sidle up to a bar stool, and prop up both elbows under her chin on the bar, shooting the lovely brunette a big grin, and a sing-songy greeting she was glad to shake the rust from. "Helloooo, baaaaby!"
Swinging her leg up into the seat, she made herself pretty comfy. "'Member me, Hina? Damn, it's been a minute! Sorry I didn't have a chance to hang around the other day, but y'know. Shit happens, right? Just another day in the Ground, am I right, haha."
She stretched her arms over her head, as her grin settled into a lazy smile. She patted the barstool next to her- place wasn't too busy, Hinata had time to take a seat and chat for a while, surely.
"Y'member what I like, yeah? Why don't you grab us a pair of them, and grab a seat! We got some catching up to do, girl, it's been too damn long! How you been?"

❝Show me colors of the sky,
But all I see is gray❞
475 w./ 475 w. total
Ho hum...the days were almost starting to blend together in a monotonous rhythm of exhaustion for the brunette until just the other day. An outright riot broke out in her bar from Kimmie and Aladriel showing off their...well, that wasn't important. And Vesper's toy almost blew the place up! She was still miffed over the gun shot marks in the bar that would cost a pretty penny to fix up! Things were crazy that day, for sure, but something unexpected did happen that made her smile. An old friend that the small girl didn't think to see again literally dashed on through like the wind!
Russet. That girl was a literal spitfire who always had something planned up her sleeve. Sometimes good and most of the time bad, but at the very least Russ always made things lively. Typically Hinata detested drama and commotion, but there was something rather charming about the red head that gave Hina's heart a beat skip.
Which is exactly what happened when Hina came from the back with a plate of finger foods for everybody, fresh and hot out of the oven! She plopped them down in the center table and gave everyone a happy giggle when they cheered ecstatically! When she came back around to the bar with a usual greeting prepared, Hinata stammered at who she was face to face with.
"Russet! Ohmygosh it is so good to see you again!"
Hinata immediately threw her body over the bar to tightly pull the girl in for a hug! It was short, but enough to get her joy across. After letting go, she nodded excitedly.
"Oh of course! Who could ever forget you? Hee hee, the point is that you are here now. One moment."
Hinata snatched up two tall highball glasses from below and plopped them down, crouching down to tong out ice cubes for each glass. Grinning at Russet, Hinata grabbed two bottles by their necks and raised them up. The bartender popped the cork on the vodka, pouring an estimate of two ounces into the glasses while twirling around. It wasn't necessary but it did give a small show to the bar and to Russ who would catch a brief glance of Hinata's panties if she was actively looking.
The top on the second bottle was popped and Hinata poured out three ounces of cranberry juice to mix with the vodka. Both bottles were withdrawn from sight in a flash and two long swizzle sticks were stuck into the glasses to stir.
"Of course I recall your drink. I named it after you, after all. Here, one Slippery Russet."
Hinata held her own drink up and awaited to see if Russ would join her in a toast, but only leaned against the bar instead of taking the girl's invitation to sit.

It was hard to hold back the big grin that spread across her face as Hinata rattled off her excited greeting, and pulled her in for a hug, which she easily accepted and returned.
She laughed, as the brunette pulled away to make their drinks. "Aw, you're sweet. Reckon I am a tough one to forget, haha. Trouble's always been my middle name." She watched with anticipation as the barkeep brought out the glasses, and the liquor, and started twirling around. She always did have a streak of showmanship. Was part of the reason this place was so popular.
That, and there weren't many who couldn't appreciate her lovely face. Or the rest of her lovely self, as Russet most definitely noticed the little sneak peek all of that twirling offered her. She didn't stare for too long, though, partly because the show was over as quick as it began, and partly because she liked to think that she had some honor and chivalry- she could appreciate a nice view, without getting all creepy about it.
Didn't mean she wasn't filing that one away in the part of her memory where she kept her favorite color and the best-tasting cereal.
And where she kept her mental catalogue of the best drinks she'd drank, of which this one was her favorite! At least, at this bar, anyways. Nice and simple, and one she could drink with friends whose taste for alcohol was a little on the lighter side than hers. It was pretty much just a slightly stronger vodka cran, which meant it was tasty, and refreshing, and she could drink a lot of them without needing to call a cab home.
She took hers readily and held it up towards Hinata's, a wide grin spread on her face.
A toast?
Hmm...
"It's cheesy as hell, but I got one. Here's to good times we won't remember! And great friends we won't forget!" Satisfied with the classic line, she clinked glasses, and took a big gulp of her drink, with a satisfied sigh when she finally set it down again.
"Man, I missed these... And you! Shit, what's been goin' on down here? Dunno if you heard what happened, couple years back, but I just got outta prison not too long ago. Got caught sticking up some Cloudhead dust shop a while back, after I quit Garrick's gang. Was dumb, heh. Mended my ways, though! On the straight and narrow, now. How 'bout you? Still workin' those magic lips of yours?" She took a long sip of her drink, before tossing Hinata a wink and a sly grin.
