Asterion had two major ways of relaxing: working out and messing around with his motorcycle. Of course, interacting with his fellow Huntsman-in-training and the teachers was always an interesting and fun pastime, but that was neither here nor there. The bull Faunus had trouble sitting still. He enjoyed relaxing as much as the next person, but he felt out of place if he wasn't doing something or another. Even if he was sat around chatting, he'd normally be lifting a dumbbell to keep himself moving.
After classes had let out for the day, the tall, young man decided to do some maintenance on his vehicle. The motorcycle had sputtered a little bit when he was last coming back from a ride into the city, and he intended to find the issue. Even if he had to take the whole thing apart, he would go about his task with vigor and determination. Half-lengths were not a business he tended to associate himself with.
Asterion had been given permission to park his baby with the rest of the vehicles that belonged to the school, which wasn't too far of a walk for him. He rolled the motorcycle into the academy's Quad, as there had seemed to be others doing maintenance on the school's transports. The racket had nearly given him a headache, so he chose the Quad as a more peaceful alternative. Besides, he still had to fetch his tools and slip into something he didn't mind getting dirty. A quick walk to his dorm later, he was dressed in a red tracksuit and carrying a large, old toolbox.
The motorcycle was a behemoth in size, having been crafted with him in mind. The mechanic he had placed the order for its construction with had jumped on the chance to try and make something for Asterion's size and weight. It was nothing if not a comfortable fit for the Faunus, with a pleasing shade of red paint and a plush leather seat to boot. The engine and other parts were often being pushed to its max in order to accommodate the weight of the frame and rider, especially at higher speeds. This caused occasional problems over time, which was why Asterion had had to learn how to get good at diagnosing and fixing problems on the vehicle rather quickly.
Approximately 30 minutes later, much of the exterior covering the bike had been taken off, and there were several tools, rags, and cans of various fluids around him. One of which was a can of coffee, which he made sure was the closest to him, so he didn't try and accidentally drink oil or coolant or something. Along with checking for what was causing the sputtering issue, which he was imagining had something to do with the fuel system muddling up the carburetor or the spark plugs, he was also performing his usual maintenance on the bike.
He eventually came across a problem. Asterion was attempting to take off a socket, but every time he reached back to grab a wrench, his hand would come back with one of the wrong size. The Faunus turned his head, using one of his hands to keep track of the spot he was working on, and saw the one he needed a good few feet out of his reach. He let out a sigh at his predicament, but the sound of approaching footsteps caugh his attention.
"Excuse me! Could you be a pal and hand me that wrench? I'll owe you a favor!"

Niraya was happy the classes were done for the day. They just seemed to drag on this day for whatever reason. When she gets to her dorm room she is greeted by Jixie. The little robot was happily flying around as it knew it could finally go out and play some. She was most excited to try out her new mechanical upgrades to the drone frame. Niraya had spent many hours trying to get something that was robust but lightweight. even went and upgrades the propellers to powerful bladeless ones which gave her a more sleek looking frame.
Niraya quickly gets a shower as Jixie zoomed around the room. After getting dressed she then gets a few things to do while Jixie played. They both head out and Niraya decides walking around the school a bit would be fine. Jixie could zip around and play with a few things. she doubted Jixie would cause any trouble. all the while Niraya could work on the heads up display she was working on so she could work with Jixie in combat situations. but one thing at a time.
She quietly walks around the school. to those who were watching her, they would see a laptop in one arm and the other arm free and moving around in a strange way. All the while Jixie zooms around not going too far from Niraya picking up stick and rocks. Jixie even stole someone's ball at one point and Niraya had to get it from Jixie. They eventually loop around the parking lot. She hears what sounds like metal on concrete and her ears perk up. She looks around for what made the noise and doesn't see anything. was it a criminal trying to break into a car and spotted her?
She puts away the laptop and puts her hands on her katana ready for a fight. She moves carefully through the cars looking for whoever made the noise. Suddenly she hears a voice nearby. "Excuse me! Could you be a pal and hand me that wrench? I'll owe you a favor!" Niraya stops and looks around and spots a couple of tools next to a vehicle. She walks closer and sees someone busy repairing a rather large motorcycle. As Niraya got closer Jixie could see the tool the man was reaching for and picks it up and moves it towards the guy. as soon as he would grab it Jixie would let go and back off quickly.

Asterion blinked a couple times in surprise as the wrench he had been asking for was handed off to him by a small, robotic drone. The concept of robotics and advanced technology wasn't exactly foreign to him, but the sight of the small drone up close had taken him aback for a moment. Said moment didn't last particularly long, as his stunned silence was replaced by loud, jovial, booming laughter. The bull Faunus' shoulders shook with delight, smiling brightly as he delighted in the unexpectedly helpful robot.
"Well now! Your little friend caught me by surprise!" His red-eyed gaze turned to the blonde fox Faunus as he spoke, giving her an appreciative nod. "Who do I owe the favor to, I wonder? Your drone, or you? Either suits me just fine." He briefly turned back to the socket he was working at before, using the wrench to take it off before replacing it with a new one. "If you'll give me just a second, I can talk to you face to face."
Asterion used his now free offhand to grab a clean rag from nearby to wipe the sweat off his face before moving to wipe the grease off his hands. With that done, he stood and moved to approach his new acquaintances, putting the rag in his toolbox as he passed. "Thank you both for being there for my time of need! If you hadn't been walking past, I'd actually have to consider the ramifications of being disorganized!" A light chuckle escaped from his throat at his own joke.
Despite his chipper demeanor, the young man began to eye his fellow Faunus. He was certainly a good deal taller than her, but, besides his father, he'd never encountered anyone who was taller than himself. The tail and ears certainly suited her though. Asterion was honestly quite pleasantly surprised to meet another Faunus on campus. He knew that one of the professors was one as well, but there had been an incredibly sparse amount of Faunus in the student body. He didn't have anything against the human faculty and students, but there was something comforting about running into more of his kind. Solidarity in numbers, or something like that.
"Oh!" A sudden cry of surprise erupted from the bull Faunus' mouth. "I've completely forgotten my manners! Ma would have my head for that!" He extended his hand out towards the smaller girl, still smiling all the while as he awaited a handshake. "My name is Asterion Alizarin, but please don't call me that. It's far too much of a mouthful, so most call me 'Azzy' or just 'big guy'. Mind if I ask you and your little friend's names so I know who I owe a favor to? And don't be shy about naming whatever you want in terms of the favor!"

the guy working on the motorcycle seemed to start laughing when he was caught off guard by Jixie helping him. He even started laughing as he got done what he was working on. "I'm not big on favors. so many people abuse them to actually do anything with." As Niraya waited for the man to finish she looked over his grease-stained tools. Jixie stays near Niraya unsure about this guy. When he finally finishes his work he begins to stand up and Niraya got a true sense of how much taller this guy was to her.
He had to be at least ten feet tall. Niraya was a little intimidated on his height alone. But he seemed very happy with the situation. "Nothing you could do about that. every now and then you will always get something out of place. it happens to the best of us." Jixie was slowly circling Asterion curious. When he finally introduces himself he offered a large hand towards Niraya and says his name was Asterion. Niraya a little intimidated slowly takes his hand to shake it. "Niraya...Niraya Platinum. And that little drone circling you is Jixie." Jixie lets out a few beeps.
Niraya then leans over and looks at the motorbike. "Strange you went with a wheeled variant for someone of your size. the shocks alone would add a few hundred pounds." She straightens back up. "A hoverbike would add the same function and avoid a good portion of the weight. not to mention superior ground clearance." Niraya's expression while talking about this almost seemed excited she really loves here technology. As Niraya talked Jixie started to circle the motorcycle curious to what it does.

The bull Faunus blinked once or twice at the words that came from the girl's mouth, before nodding in understanding. Some people could and would abuse the ideas of favors to get away with anything. In general, he liked to give others the benefit of the doubt, but Asterion was world wise enough to know that her words were true. Growing up in Wind Path, where it felt like criminals and scumbags outnumbered the good people, you learned that you never wanted to be indebted to anyone. Granted, Asterion developed his habit of giving out favors to people who helped him once he left in order to gain an idea how different the rest of the world was, and he hadn't been all that disappointed yet.
After the fox Faunus spoke a little more before shaking his hand and introducing herself, Asterion gave her another beaming smile. "That's a very nice name, Niraya! Rolls off the tongue much easier and nicer than mine! It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance!" It was then that he gave a thumbs up to the drone circling him. "And it's equally a pleasure to meet you, little Jixie!"
The young man caught Niraya looking past him, and he didn't quite understand what she was looking at till she began speaking. An embarassed blush and a sheepish look crossed over Asterion's face at her words. With a small chuckle, he responded with, "Well, y'see... I didn't have much of an option. In Wind Path, where I grew up, things weren't all that advanced because no one besides the smugglers and thieves could afford that kinda tech, combined with our distance from the capital." He then placed a hand on one of the bike's handlebars. "The mechanic who built this was an older guy and promised he'd make something that could handle my size, of which kinda makes getting in and out of a lot of vehicles a right pain. He told me, even if he had hover tech, he was so stuck in his ways and untrained to actually construct something along those lines. I was just happy he was willing to work with me because most humans in the city were still pretty bad towards Faunus."
Judging by the excited look on Niraya's face as she talked about the prospects of hoverbikes, Asterion felt she must have some interest and skill in technology. Plus, it was nice to see her previous, nervous expression be replaced with one of interest. "He said I was free to replace things on the bike or upgrade it over time, so, if you perhaps know anyone, or are someone, that could upgrade the old girl for me, I'd be most interested and thankful."

Niraya nods to the man. "I don't get that compliment very often." When he greeted Jixie she lets out a beep, and the face display showed a cat face emoji. Niraya found it interesting that he grew up in Wind Path. She didn't know much of that place as it was such a small secluded town. but it felt reassuring that a faunus as large as him was dealing with the unfair world as well as she had. She watches Jixie for a bit unsure if she was going to get into his personal space or not.
Niraya smiles when he found an interest in the idea. even more so when he wasn't opposed to the idea. "well I did know of someone. but they are no longer around." Niraya's tail wrapped around her as she mentions this. it was quite clear the person she was talking about was a very important person to her. She sighs trying to relax a bit. "I could try to upgrade your vehicle, but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to replace a combustion engine wheeled motorbike. with electric hover engines." she sighs to herself.
Jixie was now examining the motorbike and the tools. she was taking a fancy to the mechanical stuff she was used to seeing around Niraya. Niraya notices Jixie was getting a little too close. "Jixie. over here." Jixie stops and looks at Niraya with a sad emoji on its face. "Don't give me that. your a little too close to his stuff. you don't need to damage it." Jixie hovers back over to Niraya with a sad beep. When she was near them Niraya pets her head. "It's ok. I just don't want to anger our new friend."

Asterion scratched the back of his sheepishly as Niraya explained that the hover-tech expert she knew had passed away. Judging by her body language, especially her tails, the individual she was referring to had been close and important to her. The bull Faunus had experienced the loss of people he'd held close as well. Friends and family members that were swallowed whole by the racism of humans or the criminal underworld. In order to not keep that topic of conversation open, Asterion gave his new friend a sympathetic look and nod to show he understood.
"Don't worry too much about trying to help me upgrade the old girl if you aren't at the level yet, Niraya." Taking a seat on the bike, Asterion waved off her words as he spoke. "I ain't exactly in a rush to get my bike upgraded since I'm a little fond of how she is right now anyway. If you ever do get to that skill level, or find someone who is, then we can talk about it when/if that comes up." His words were dripping in sincerity, a small smile plastered on the large man's face. Asterion did love working on and fixing his motorcycle, as it gave him pleasant memories of the old man who'd made it for him and taught him how the basics of caring for the vehicle. Meeting someone as nice as he was in Wind Path was a rarity, a treasure he'd keep with him to remind him that he wasn't wrong for trusting others.
An eyebrow was raised at Niraya for calling Jixie over from inspecting his tools and the parts of his bike that were off the main body, but a chuckle erupted from his throat as she gave her reasoning. "Little Jixie ain't gonna harm anything or offend me for being curious. Even if she were to wander off with something or break it, it's no skin off my back. I've still got money from the tournaments I won to get into Haven, so I can afford to replace some small stuff." Asterion wasn't exactly famous, but he did put on good shows at local combat tournaments in order to get scouted. Didn't exactly make him rich, just set for a while in terms of pocket money and help with any future expenses.
"So," Asterion began, pulling his Scroll out from his tracksuit's pants pocket and beginning to check it as he spoke, "what were you up to before I stopped you, Niraya? I apologize for asking out of the blue, just trying to make conversation and learn a little about yourself. I'm an open book, if you have anything to ask me as well."

Niraya pets Jixie as she hovers in her arms. The face display showing a cat face in emoji. Niraya nods when he said not to worry about upgrading the bike. "Fair enough. it's your choice." Niraya keeps petting Jixie until she flew off again. Niraya keeps an eye on Jixie as she circled around again. "If you say she won't harm anything I guess I can just let her be." Jixie zips around goes back to looking at all the things.
Asterion's next question was a bit more personal. "well. I guess I can tell you. I was working on an interface so I could interface with her and get her to obey certain orders. Its slow progress as she has to learn what I'm doing while I myself figure out how to teach her." Niraya makes a few hand signs in the air and Jixie stops for a moment before continuing. "as of right now it's just causing a glitch in her programming causing her to pause every time I give a command."
Asterion openly offered for her to ask questions. "Temping. We just met and you ok with me just digging into your personal life?" Niraya was unsure what Asterion was up too he seemed harmless but with such open-ended questions, it was odd. friendly would be a nice way to say it but still a little odd.

Asterion hummed in thought as his eyes switched between Niraya and his scroll, both listening to the fox Faunus and checking a couple of notifications he'd received since he'd started working on his bike and from when he was in class. Mostly just a reminder from a workout app he had installed that he had a couple miles to run today and a notification that his battery was getting low. Nothing that kept him from listening to his new friend's explanation about her previous activities. Slipping the communication device back into his pocket, Asterion placed his chin in the palm of his hand before he began speaking. "I'm not exactly the sharpest spoon in the crayon box but that definitely does sound like a problem. If you're wanting to use her in combat, then having her be able to complete tasks without verbally commanding her would save yourself some potential danger. I have faith though, you seem like a smart cookie, Niraya."
Programming, robotics, and similar advanced technologies were not in Asterion's wheelhouse. Workout routines he can do. Motorcycles he can do. Throwing down with another person or a Grimm he can do. Things that required hours upon hours of studying and natural intelligence were simply outside of his purview. He was taught to be strong and skilled, as experience was, according to his parents, worth infinitely more than simply studying or having knowledge about a subject. What was the point of knowing how to shoot a gun if you didn't have the experience to take a Beowolf's head off with it, handle its recoil, or account for the direction of the wind? Granted, Asterion did have a healthy dose of respect for people who were smarter than him. He always delighted in seeing people get excited when they talked about their passions, even if he didn't understand half of what they were saying.
A twinkle in his eye came about when she asked if he was alright with her prying into his private life, and Asterion chuckled in response. "Like I said, I'm an open book, Niraya. I don't keep secrets about myself and have no shame! You might find me a tad odd for saying all this, but I'm simply not your average Faunus!" His signature booming laugh accompanied the end of his sentence, his wild hair and shoulders bobbing as the jovial sound escaped his throat.
It was entirely true that Asterion was far too open. Due to his habit of giving people the benefit of the doubt, regardless of their race or standing in life, the bull Faunus had no problem with letting anyone know anything about him. This had gotten in some trouble before, but he was anything if not stubborn. Old habits die hard, as a wise man once said.

Niraya chuckles at his spoon in the crayon box joke. clearly, he wasn't all the bright when it came to everything in general. but it was obvious from the bike maintenance he was doing that he was pretty good at it. "Well, then I guess I can't pass up that offer...hmm...How was your childhood? I'm curious if you were abandoned by your family like I was." Niraya sounded bitter to this but the truth was she was separated by her family and they thought she was dead as they were being run out of the town by an angry mob.
Niraya spots Jixie trying to grab Asterion's horn. "Jixie!" Jixie jumps a bit and backs away with an exclamation on its face display. "What have I told you about gripping things attached to people." Jixie displays a sad face and turns around. Niraya sighs seeing Jixie act like a spoiled child. "I sear. I have no clue where this comes from. Jixie if you know you're going to get in trouble for doing something why do you do it." She was like a stressed mother with a disobedient child. Niraya shakes her head and looks at Asterion again. "So very sorry about that." Niraya gives a bow to him as a sign of respect.
