Straight from the launch pad into the thick of the woods, Prince flew through the air, hurtling toward the ground at dangerous speeds but most certainly going to be landing on her feet. She made touchdown as her feet were planted into the trunk of a particularly tall tree, her iron soles splintering the wood and bringing her toward momentum to stop before pushing off in a backflip and landing onto the forest floor below.
She landed with a thunk, her stance braced to take the worst of the landing. She stood up to her full height as she looks around her surroundings
Her landing strategy was efficient, graceful, and HOLY SHIT HER KNEES HURT LIKE HELL.
She rests for a moment, sucking in the pain from the absurd impact her ligaments were subjected too. In truth, landing strategies were not her forte although improvisation had certainly helped her to not break her neck during her fall. She had felt comfortable trusting her agility to enable her safe landing, but she really regretted not taking the loss and using her dust reserves.
Once the pain subsided, she took a look around the area she found herself in. She looked up to the treetops and if she squinted, she could see the imprint of two boot shaped imprints in the bark of the upper portion of the tree she had assaulted. It was a comical image and she was tempted to take a picture of it. Even if her mark was never recognized by human eyes, it might be a funny find for any squirrels that might run around this area.
Still, there was not a second to waste as she dusted off the dust from her pants. Instead of her preferred combination of a suit and tie, Prince opted for a white collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, sleek black pants, and her combat shoes, Diable Savate. It was a functional outfit that tried to retain the dignity of a business minded individual but was an outfit expected to whether the wear and tear of meager labour. It was partially marred by the grass stains and embedded wood chips and this shirt would inevitably need to be thrown out once this event was over.
Trust Prince to know her way in an unfamiliar city, to familiarize herself with the local scenes. In an urban environment, she felt confident enough to conquer any gentrified obstacle. In a forest? Where there were trees, dirt, and mud and stuff? No thanks, she’d stay at home. In the modern age there was little reason for any civilized person to spend their time in nature, save for a well groomed garden or quiet local park.
Still, she had to look at this from a more optimistic perspective. Camping was something that people did for fun. This would be like camping. How people found enjoyment in being away from everyday luxuries like air conditioning and running water, Prince could never figure out. Well, take it from another perspective. Camping was, for many people, something to do during vacation. It was an activity that required an excess of time and energy doing nothing productive and costed money for necessities needed for survival for that temporal period of self-endangerment. In that sense, camping could be seen as a practice for the privileged who could afford to take time off work to spend days of their life wasting away in the wilderness.
Prince didn’t believe a word of that but it kept her from raging at the disagreeable location she found herself in. Yeah, she thought. Camping was just something that early hunters and gatherers did. She could do that, no problem.
On her back she carried what she believed were necessary supplies. As it turns out, camping was expensive, but trust Prince to find cheaper alternatives to survival supplies. The local 100 lien store was definitely a lifesaver for this event. They weren’t expected to live in the forest for too long so she felt that a cheap blanket (7 lien) would be a sufficient replacement for a sleeping bag. And for sustenance she had filled four canteens of tap water (4 for 4 lien), and… beef jerky (5 for 15 lien). Funny, it was a food stuff that always seemed to be on sale at that place. Fair enough, it would be enough to get her through the next twenty four hours.
Prince would get a move on, walking toward any loud sounds that might point her toward other people.

Niraya travels down the river her best bet at finding people would be where a source of water would be. as she walked the river started to slow down a pool more and more. she had found herself at the early makings of a lake. though the river wasn't wide or deep enough to say that it was a suitable size for some grimm to lurk beneath its still waters it was getting there. a few more years and there would be a small lake here.
As she looks around she spots some movement on the far shores. it was difficult to tell who or what it was because of the treeline but there was movement. She pulls out her Crimson Heart and goes to follow. she was trying to as quiet as possible as to not alert the figure she was following. They had turned to head deeper into the forest did they notice her. was this an ambush. She kept her blade at the ready as she follows the figure as quickly and quietly as she could. she was trying to get closer but she had a lot of ground to make up and had to do it carefully just in case it was a grimm.
sure enough, as she gets closer she sees its a beowolf. pretty common creatures Niraya was in attack range and she dashes forward forgoing stealth for a swift killing strike. The beowolf turns around just in time to avoid the lethal blow only losing an arm. It howls in pain and snarls at Niraya ready for a fight. the severed arm dissipates into dust. Niraya stands at the ready Crimson Heart in hand and Sheath in the other. She doesn't wait for the beowolf to make the first move that howl of his would attract more if they were around and she needed to end the fight quickly.
She charges in and swings her blade at the beowolf it counters her by slashing at the ground making a small dust cloud causing Niraya to miss. The beowolf then swipes at Niraya striking her back. Her aura absorbs this blow well only showing for the instant of the hit. Niraya quickly turns around and thrusts her katana into the Beowolf's chest. It howls again but as the dust cloud cleared it was overtaken by a blacker dust cloud as the beowolf dies. Niraya sheaths her blade and sighs. "well Grimm aren't my target but I can still take on a beowolf who gets the drop on me. when did they get so crafty to actually use their environment against the hunters?...hmm... observations for later I guess." She pulls out her phone and quickly makes a note that said. "Beowolf environmental attack." She would remember what it was about later. She then heads back to the waterside to look for more people.

Prince found herself with front row seats to a fight between the blacksmith girl and a beowolf. Scanning the fight from the cover of the trees, Prince allows the girl to finish off the grimm without assistance. No matter what Prince thought, at least Niraya was capable of killing the grimm in short time which was some comfort that the girl could defend herself well enough against the mindless creatures of darkness. Prince didn’t need nor want to spend the rest of this trip doing an escort mission so if any others could manage a sufficient level of competence that would be greatly appreciated. Though, she mused, it wasn’t a perfect execution from Niraya’s part. The attempt at stealth only managed the severing of an arm at the cost of taking a direct claw to the back. Kind of made Niraya’s sneak attack a moot point if it failed to take the enemy by surprise. Prince winces in pity as the grimm arm slams into Niraya’s and makes a sharp breath through her teeth. The fight was not going as smoothly as perhaps the girl might have hoped, although Prince didn’t make a move to help either. In the end a sword through the grimm’s ribs was enough to solve any remaining problems.
Of course she recognized the fox faunus from that eventful day at the weaponsmith. She doubted there was any fondness between them but honestly Prince didn’t hold any permanent feelings toward her despite first impressions. In any case she hoped the girl would let bygones be bygones or at the very least, have the sense to play nice. It wouldn’t do for them to waste energy like that.
Prince gives a slow clap as she walks out from behind the tree. It is a distinct sound that breaks the quiet of the forest ambience.
“What an impressive show. That grimm didn’t last long around your sword skills.” she says, in a complementary tone.
Prince muses, trying to put a name on a face. “I think we’ve met before, although I don’t believe I caught your name.”
“You can call me Prince... As in royalty.” She extends a gloved hand toward her, expecting her to take it. “What’s your objective for the midterms? I want to help you pass,” she says, appearing to be sincere in her desire to help.”

Niraya breathes a sigh of relief when the grimm faded into dust. though her aura had taken a hit she has taken harder blows before and kept fighting. it's at that moment she notices a sharp sound from nearby. her ears quickly scan for the source as her eyes dart around. the second clap revealed it was from behind her. Niraya quickly turns around Crimson Heart at the ready only to see it was Prince. "Oh...you." Niraya quietly groans to herself. their first meeting was quite a rude encounter. Prince slow clap wasn't helping the mood. Niraya sheaths her blade as it would be pointless to fight a student...infact it might make Niraya fail her task even though it wasn't stated.
Niraya listens to Prince introduce herself. Niraya would give a slight bow. "Niraya Platnium. though Niraya will do just fine." Niraya thinks for a bit whether or not to tell her. figuring there was no harm she tells Prince. "My task is to get people's backstory. I'd take it your is most likely the same since you have...a strange way of interacting with others." Niraya waits for an answer all the while her ears were moving around listening for any noise.
“You… want to know my backstory? That’s your assignment?” Prince said, raising a brow skeptically. [break][break] Holding the expectation that this task would be fighting grimm, Niraya’s absurd statement momentarily stunned her. Prince was repulsed by the idea of giving someone her personal information but clearly she had no choice if she wanted to pass the midterms. [break][break] The pieces had begun to click into place in Prince’s mind. Evidently, the midterms were not just an evaluation of the trainee group as a whole but it was a test organized to put trainees in compromising positions to understand individual strengths and weaknesses. When she had initially received her assignment Prince was skeptic. As a “Rose” she was, apparently, required to help others in their own tasks, making her success dependant on the success of those around her. It was a novel task they had given her and while she disapproved of the assessment she could understand the reasoning that lead to it. If Prince was diagnosed as a liability when it came to teamwork it would only prove disadvantageous for future missions. It seemed that the intention was for her to learn to get along with others rather than her usual, mean-spirited behaviors. Going out of her way for others was not normally her prerogative, although she could be cooperative… given the right motivation. [break][break] Armed with the knowledge that the assignments were partner based it was clear to see that this event was some sort of… social experiment. It irked her that she was pushed into this position. Were these tasks supposed to manufacture friendships between the trainees? It was unpleasantly artificial. [break][break] But trust someone like Prince to turn it around in her favour. [break][break] “Alright, alright. I don’t typically find myself in the business of sharing secrets… at least not for free.” says Prince, not entirely keen on the idea but willing to make an arrangement with Niraya. A smile grew on her face, the purple royal evidently up to something. [break][break] “My backstory comes with a price…” Prince states, already with a suitable price in her mind. She greedily rubs her hands together with a pronounced smirk. “You pay me 50 lien right now and I’ll answer a personal question for you. Sounds good?” [break][break] Prince holds an open hand out with a smile. “My cooperation for your patronage. It’s only fair that I’m reimbursed for my time.” [break][break] Sure, Prince was required to do this task for Niraya but there wasn’t any rule against verbal contracts or the exchange of money for services. Really, Prince was doing her a favor teaching Niraya this lesson: when it comes to cooperation the right amount of money can make troublesome people much more agreeable.[break][break]

Niraya was uneasy and very warry of Prince. They stand in there silence Prince seeming to be debating whether or not to tell Niraya anything. when she finally came to a decision she gave off a very creepy smile. this smile made Niraya recoil unsure if this was truly a good idea. When Prince mentioned the price for her story Niraya was confused and it showed. her head was tilted and her ears twitched a bit. "Pay you?! You think I'm a bank or that I keep Lin on me at all time. were in the middle of the woods what good would lin do us?" Niraya sighs. "Even if I wanted to pay you I cant. we have no signal on our scrolls so I can't pay you anything."
Niraya sighs and stands there unsure. it was clear she wasn't going to get anything for free from her. which was rather fitting for someone so rude as she was. Niraya was silent unsure how to proceed. She needed to get 5 backstories so she could pass the exam.

"Well if the price is too high then I shall settle for a small favor." the prince smiles, turning her back to Niraya, only imagining the face that she was making. "Just something in the future if I ever need something from you. I haven't the faintest idea of the favor will be but I'll call upon you when the need arises."
"After all, we're going to be going to Haven together for a long while," she faces the fox girl with a grin. "Do we have a deal, my secrets for one favor?" smiled the distinguished devil who extends a open hand. "Shake on it and make it so."
If Niraya agreed to give Prince a favor in the future she could then ask whatever she wanted to learn about Prince's backstory.

Niraya growls silently to herself. it was clear Prince was going to take advantage of this need. money or a favor that the favor could be anything. Niraya considers her options. a large sum of money she couldn't pay or a favor that could be as extreme as being her pet. She didn't like her choices but to pass this class she needed to make a deal. "Fine but only one favor." She shakes Prince's hand it felt like signing her death certificate but she had no choice. once they stop shaking hands Niraya would pull out her scroll ready to jot down anything she gives her and hopes it was somewhat truthful. "You may begin where ever."
