KISHKA BURZANOVA
As Holly turned to look back at Kishka, the umbrella-wielding girl simply smiled back and watched in anticipation. She wasn't really sure what she was watching for. Something especially hip and cool, maybe? Whatever she was expecting, it certainly wasn't what the plant girl decided to do.
She watched with fascination as Holly fully ensnared the Grimm, taking her leisurely time to strike it down, only- she didn't strike it down immediately, either- the buzzsaw sprung out, coiling around the Creep, and Kishka's eyes glowed with delight as she witnessed a truly impressive Grimm execution. With a snap, the circular blade whirled around the beast, severing its head with an unexpectedly satisfying ease. When all was said and done, it was very visually appealing, and Kishka made her way over to Holly as the thing melted away. "Fuck yes! That was totally badass! Hell yeah!" Her voice and expression were uncharacteristically excited as she watched the pink-haired girl with a look of approval. Even her weirdly phrased question couldn't dampen Kishka's glee. Seems she was dead on the money about Poison Ivy's usefulness after all- good with her plants, and with her weapon. Nice. "Nah, that ought to be good enough. Nice work."
Very nice. Very, very nice.
It was less nice, though, when the girl suddenly inexplicable crumpled over and fell into the grassy wall, which gave way easily for her. Oh shit. Kishka immediately ran over, to check and make sure the girl wasn't fucking dead or something. That would definitely mean she would fail this objective, and that was the last damn thing she wanted to do! "Holly?" She dashed forward, leaning down to check on the girl, when she noticed it.
Not too far away, a bigger, meaner, Grimm than the Creeps was eyeing them down, and scraping the ground with a hoof. Oh fuck.
She moved quickly, and on instinct, as the stupidly fast boar rolled itself into a ball and prepared to charge with its signature rolling attack. A hand reached out to grasp Holly's wrist, and with a wincing expression, and a flex of her dark aura, Holly was lifted up from the ground and launched as quickly as Kishka could throw her into the softer bushes to the side. Thankfully, she had managed to do that just in time, because the porcine Grimm was rapidly approaching her.
She managed to sidestep it, just barely as it passed, but that still didn't prevent it from hitting her in its reckless charge- one of its long tusks caught her on the side, and her aura crackled a dangerous black- even with her better-than-average durability, and her vastly superior agility, the glancing blow combined with the force involved in throwing Holly aside was definitely enough to bring her aura down considerably. Another hit like that would shatter it. Fortunately, it couldn't just roll constantly, and now that she was prepared to deal with it, she would be better able to handle its next attack, if it didn't shoot straight for Holly.
What's more, she managed to score a lucky hit on it, proving the nature of her weapon's name- as it barreled into, and then past, her, she managed to stick out her umbrella, remembering the lessons she'd learned about Grimm and their weaknesses, and she caught it right on the underbelly as it passed, tripping it up a little, and dealing a hefty sum of damage, winding it momentarily. Even though she was thrown off to the side by the beast's poorly aimed assault, she figured another lucky shot like that would be enough to bring it down once and for all. Only problem was, she needed to get another shot like that. And frankly, pulling the same stunt she'd just pulled would be risky. She needed Holly's help with this one.
Slamming into the ground about ten feet from where she had been standing, she shouted out to Holly, on the other side of the still-recovering Boarbatusk. "Hey, Poison Ivy! Little assist would be great, thanks!" Hopefully she could snare this guy too- that would great.
At the very least, it would be a far cry better than continuing the strategy of "wait until it almost gores me, then smack its belly again."
When Holly felt something grab her wrist, her mind couldn't really process the pottential danger yet. In her mind Kishka just wanted to check if Holly was alright. Maybe check her pulse? Kishka was nice.[break] [break]
And then her new friend threw Holly through the air like she was a ragdoll. As she started to get momentum. Holly's eyes shot open as she gasped at Kishka's action. Holly wanted to object to this treatment, but being slingshotted made her simply scream out in surprise and fear. "AAHHHHHhhhh.." In her short flight over towards the nearby bush, Holly simply pondered if Kishka didn't liked Holly falling over. Also, was that a bush very fast approaching?[break] [break]
Always the bushes.[break] [break]
Holly found some slight comfort in being thrown into another bush again. Some things just made sense. If you fall, there is a bush to break your fall. The girl landed face first in the bush, but even without having her sight on Kishka, she could hear that there was something happening in the Shrubdom. Wait, that sounded like a shot! A fight! Without too much discomfort, Holly could raise up enough from her position to turn herself around and face Kishka fighting the Boarbatusk. And losing?[break] [break]
After Kishka was getting slammed into the ground, Holly felt a bit bad. This Grimm attacked when Holly had her little collapse. If she had remained on her feet this wouldn't happen! Holly needed to redeem herself! "I can help!" Holly wanted to jump at this Grimm with an adrenaline filled fury to prove her worth! She stumbled out of the bush and she wanted to leap into action and slice it up with her dear buzzsaw...buzzsaw? Holly looked at her hands. No weapon...Shit, where is it? Holly looked around, but at first glance she couldn't find her weapon. Did she drop it when Kishka yeeted her into the bush? [break] [break]
The grimm seemed to notice Holly's confusion somewhat, and it changed targets to attack the now weaponless plant girl. The Grimm let out a howl before scraping the ground to indicate that he was going to attack again. Luckily, Holly noticed this, and she could act with her true weapon. Mother nature. Holly took a defiant stance as she used her feet to channel her aura into the grass, and over towards where the Grimm was standing. Blades of grass started to coil around the Boarbatusk's hooves before it could charge in earnest. Still, the grass was only quick enough to coil around the Grimm's hind-legs. Its front hooves were free, and the Grimm tried with all its might to pull its other hooves out of the entanglement. Holly was too busy with focusing all her energy on just keeping the hooves she already had in her grasp. The moment the Grimm started to get loose, Holly directed more grass to continue the ensnarement She shouted her frustration to Kishka, as sweat started to form on her face.[break] [break]
"I ONLY GOT SOME OF IT, KILL IT QUICKLY BEFORE IT EATS ME!" [break] [break]
This is how Niraya must have felt. Afraid to be eaten by some aggressive force of nature.[break] [break]

KISHKA BURZANOVA
Oh shit. Oh fuck.
Kishka was unpleasantly reminded of the semi-failed perimeter defense mission, as she could only watch the Boarbatusk turn on Holly who had just stood up. And it was at that moment that she realized... In her haste to get the plant girl out of the monster's path, she had neglected to make sure her weapon was still clutched in her hands. Holly was defenseless, and she was down to her last bits of aura, purple-y lack mist swirling across her body periodically like storm clouds. This was either going to turn out really well, or they were both going to die here.
Frankly, she had no idea which was more likely.
But just as shit seemed like it was going to end very poorly, Holly struck a bold pose and Kishka briefly wondered if she was a fucking idiot, or just too scared to realize Grimm didn't function like black bears. And Holly was arguably not even big enough to scare off a black bear, let alone a Grimm. But the realization soon set in as she noticed the grass shifting beneath Holly's feet, and then under the Boarbatusk's back hooves, until the grass sprung out to clutch the beast in its grasp. Oh shit. Nice one, Poison Ivy.
The girl started yelling for Kishka to do something, but frankly, even with the damn thing pinned down, she had to get at its underbelly somehow- normally, she'd have used her semblance to guide a cannonball down under, and up into, the pig-like monster's belly. But that was out of the question, given the state of her aura. Instead, she stepped between the Boarbatusk and Holly, which was probably for the best even if this didn't work, and the girl let it go, so that Kishka could stall for at least a second or two while she ran for her buzzsaw.
But ideally, it wouldn't come to that.
"Up top," she quipped, raising her umbrella high overhead. The Grimm was none too pleased by her banter, or by her threatening gesture, and it began to thrash and grunt, trying to pull itself free. Eventually, it made its last mistake- it lifted itself up off the ground, onto its trapped hind legs, rearing up like a horse, and trying to swat at Kishka with its front hooves.
Taking advantage of the brief opening, the Burzanov girl plunged her umbrella right into the Grimm's gut, and with a flick of the switch, her umbrella forcibly shot open, ripping the Grimm apart, right before it fell to pieces, as black dust. She grinned to herself, through the sweat trickling down her face. That was an eventful finale to a gripping fight.
She turned to Holly, and coolly walked over with her hand raised for a high five, pointing to it, and even demonstrating, with her other hand if the poor little island girl was too uncultured to understand the gesture. "Nice work, kid. Your semblance is damn handy, you know that?" She had been a little skeptical at first, admittedly- someone who could only grow plants, even defensively like this, was hardly worth consideration for her Vytal team. But being able to control them in combat? Ensnaring opponents, setting traps, constructing barriers... She was a goddamn war machine in the making. All she needed was a bed of hot coals to forge her into something far greater.
And Kishka was that forge.
"I think that ought to cover your Grimm count, yeah? I can stay here with you for a little bit to make sure no more surprise visitors come crashing through your grass walls, but I do have to get going in a little while- I've got to finish my own objectives, and there's someone I need to find before nightfall." Argent. She was very excited to see her snake. And it was his birthday, after all- it would be a travesty if something stupid like a pointless midterm exercise kept them apart all day.
She smiled at the shorter girl, a smile not entirely devoid of sly amusement. She was amused by the prospect of what she was about to say, even as she said it. "But let's keep in touch after I get going, yeah? I might need your help with something in the future, after midterms are all over. If you're up for it." She flashed the girl a wink, and took a seat on the ground, to try and rest up and recover some of her nearly-broken aura.
This sure was an eventful day. To think, coming upon a Shrubdom and its Plant Queen, only to declare herself Empress and set about defending the Shrubdom from attack. And they were successful too! With only a single section of the walls falling to the invasion.
Truly a magnificent feat.

Holly looked and saw how Kishka acting on the plan, and with one fell swoop defeated the Grimm that had nearly ran her over. Or well, rolled her over. Still, when the last Grimm was defeated...Holly just felt tired. The girl arms drooped down and she just wanted to lie down herself. It wasn't like she was that hurt...all of this was just exhausting. Falling down from the sky, getting your ankle injured...getting abandoned by cute Niraya, building a plant fort to take out your abandonment issues, meeting someone else who seems cute, talking about your deepest emotions, getting in a fight, getting bitten in your ankle again, getting thrown through the air to not be trampled. Was she expected to do this on a daily basis? Being a Huntress is just exhausting...[break] [break]
When Kishka approached her...Holly kinda understood what she wanted. She wanted Holly to slap the hand with her hand. She got that much. So, it wasn't out of ignorance that she opted to do something else. [break] [break]
The Pink-Haired plant girl simply took another step forward, and simply swung her arms around Kishka to give her a big embrace. This girl just made sure that Holly wasn't eaten by Grimm, so she was not getting away without anything less than a hug. The shorter girl rested her head on Kishka's chest for a moment, as she spoke her praises. Her voice sounded soft and emotional instead of its usual deadpan tone. "Thanks for not letting me get killed! You're amazing!" Holly had reached the point that she would soon end up in tears again, but before that could happen she seemed to end the embrace on her own. Holly seemed to have realized something.[break] [break]
Holly stood in front of Kishka now, looking up at her as she give the other girl a smile. A small smile, but a smile. Holly had met someone who she could depend on! Sure, she didn't made her feel as happy at Ryan did, but it was still miles above most other horrible people she had met. Maybe she could make friends here in Haven![break] [break]
And then Kishka spoke about leaving Holly all alone again. [break] [break]
Like Niraya had left her all alone at the shrub.[break] [break]
Like her family leaving her all alone to go to Haven.[break] [break]
Because she needed to visit...someone else?[break] [break]
Someone she liked more than Holly? Someone who was better than her? More dependable? Someone who loved her? [break] [break]
The words that Kishka seemed to justify her actions with registered with Holly. She needed to complete her own assignment, sure. That was how some dirtbag designed this assignment. But it felt like a thorn in Holly's side. You meet someone who isn't garbage, and then they need to leave. You find someone who you can depend on in a hostile environment? Woops, nope. They have to go because someone needed to learn a life lesson, or something like that. What was the lesson they all needed to learn from this? While you can depend on others, they will always leave you in the end? The only person who you can rely on is yourself? What kind of lesson is that? What kind of life is that? Was that what a Huntress was supposed to do? Just be alone in a forest, helping out random people, and then just move on to the next group to help? What sense of purpose would that have if you cannot settle? It seemed so foreign to Holly. So cruel.[break] [break]
It was why she wanted to return to home when this all was done. It needed defending, as did her family. They had plans, and those plans were worth all of this. Being here...being with people who didn't really cared for you. Like you weren't supposed to care for them. Save for one, maybe two? Perhaps a few? The rest? The rest didn't matter.[break] [break]
Thanks to Holly's introspection, her amiable mood from just a few seconds ago seemed to have ebbed away again. Her eyes seemed to have lost their twinkle, and her voice seemed to be its usual self again. She placed her hands behind her back as she answered Kishka. "I have completed my task, thanks to you. Stay and I will feed you some dried fruit I have in my backpack as you recover." Holly wouldn't even think that someone would refuse that gift, and she went ahead to search for her weapon and backpack around the Shrubdom. She found her backpack laying around, fallen from the tree during the fight. At that point she answered Kishka's offer. "I will always listen to what a friend has to say, of course." Holly didn't seemed all that friendly in her tone of voice, but she seemed to have been genuine as she returned to Kishka with her backpack.[break] [break]
Holly went to sit next to Kishka, taking out a Tupperware container from her backpack. Holly opened it, revealing a selection of dried fruits that she prepared for the trip. There were dried pears, apples and peaches all mixed together, and it was easily enough to feed Holly for the day and then some. Holly placed the container in between Kishka and herself, commenting blankly: "I made it all myself. The fruit, I mean. I hope you like it." [break] [break]

KISHKA BURZANOVA
She hadn't really expected Holly to know how to reciprocate her high five properly.
But she also hadn't expected the girl to swoop under her arms and fall limply into her in a hug to rival all hugs. She was taken aback at first, but wrapped her arms around Holly as well, blinking away the surprise and confusion. This was an unexpected turn of events, frankly. And it just got more surprising as Holly very sincerely, and sweetly, thanked the purple-haired girl for saving her. It was a far cry from the distant monotone the islander's voice usually held, so to say it had her shocked was a bit of an understatement.
"Thanks. And don't worry about it, you getting killed is the last thing I'd want." This was getting just a little awkward, but Holly pulled away before it really got bad. Kishka was a bit relieved. She smiled back as Holly glowed up at her, appreciating the way the smaller girl looked like a little puppy dog, all cute and ready to please its master. It was... Oddly precious. And a little uncomfortable, but she figured if she was supposed to be a proper evil overlord villainness supreme, one worthy of the title, Miss Mastermind, she absolutely had to accept and embrace the hero worship from other students.
It was only right, after all- she really was amazing.
But then, as she spoke of having to go, she realized quickly that she could have perhaps chosen to be a bit more discreet about leaving. Kid had some attachment issues, and she knew that from the moment she mentioned Niraya. This wasn't going to be easy, was it? She felt a little bad as Holly's voice and eyes lost the momentary spark of joy that had filled them previously. This was getting really depressing now. But she smiled at her, a little sheepishly, and nodded to the offer of fruit. "I would love some fruit. Thank you." Dammit. She had literally just met this kid, why was she getting all caught up in making sure she's happy?
Then it hit her, as Holly spoke again, while she sat down in the grass to await the dried fruit lunch Holly had for her. Friend. That was what the pink-haired girl called her. And it felt weird, but it felt right too. Were they friends? That was a quick damn friendship, if that was the case. But it felt... nice. She did like Holly, after all. She had a very useful and unique set of skills, an unabashed personality, and she was pretty sweet sometimes, when she let down her walls. She saw a lot of herself in the girl, actually... But the parts she liked about herself, not the other shit.
She smiled as her newest friend brought over a tupperware container of fruits. They really did look good... And she realized she hadn't eaten much so far today, so it was high time she had something to eat. She took a dried pear and bit into it, surprising herself a little with the succulent, crisp, flavor. It was dried fruit, but it was so delicious, it tasted like it was real, actual, fruit. "Oh damn, Holly- this is amazing. That semblance of yours comes in handy in all kinds of ways, I see."
Tasty fruit and a new friend. Argent was going to be so proud of her when she told him about this later.
She had intended to go looking for him immediately, but looking at Holly's face... Nah, she didn't mind staying a little longer than she'd intended. Wasn't like she was in a hurry anyways- she had all day to meet up with her man.
So why not enjoy a little time with her new friend?
