On April 6, 7AV a nomadic tribe had settled in for the night when their camp was ambushed by Grimm. Fighting off the horde, few lost their lives due to the efforts of their chief Demirci who fought side by side with his wife Hvid. In the midst of battle, Hvid collapsed in the throes of child labor and birthed Rosalia Phoenix on the battlefield. To the tribe, this was a good omen and the girl henceforth would be treated with respect and honor as she grew up.
Growing up in Vacuo, she was taught that the strong deserved to live and the weak were to be crushed. Children typically stayed with the tribe, but Rose actively sought conflict. She raided and pillaged with her people, though the common folk provided her with little challenge. It bored her greatly and she beat on children younger and older than her, yet none could defeat her. Only a boy named Erik had given her a challenge and became her best friend. Her Father was a talented blacksmith and her Mother was an expert in the manipulation of Dust. Both had spent their lives perfecting their craft. Growing up, Rose idolized her parents and the ornate sword they had forged together with their professions. It had no name, so Rose called it Rebellion and dreamed of the day she could wield it.
During a raid on a village, her tribe decided to settle down for a time. This was a mistake as within a week they were attacked by the Grimm. It was sudden and without preamble. All through the night, her people defended themselves and ultimately prevailed! Yet it was a short lived victory as the morning was greeted with a raiding party from another nomadic tribe. Weakened from battle, Rose's people were slaughtered. Her parents hacked to pieces before her very eyes and Rebellion taken by their leader. Rose and the other young ones were taken as slaves by the tribe.
Because of her wild nature, Rose was forced into the arenas where she was forced into combat with both Grimm and other slaves for sport. While she hated the enslavement, the girl relished in the battles and hungrily sought each and every chance to fight. She and Erik watched each others' backs, becoming favorites quick enough through the years of combat. Yet their handler grew bold one day and had decided to pit Rose against Erik...a young man she had grown fond of in a way. Someone she could trust and maybe even lean on.
Erik attacked her without hesitation in the arena, which infuriated Rose. So much to the point that her semblance triggered! Red lightning sparked all around her and she attacked Erik with reckless abandon! As she mercilessly killed her friend, the town had come under attack by more Grimm. People panicked like mad and in the ensuing chaos, Rose escaped the arena and hunted down her handler. She retrieved her parents' sword and dug it deep into her slave master's gut before fighting her way out of the burning town.
For days she wandered the desert with a single minded desire to survive. Yet there was nothing but the endless sand. Rose passed out from exhaustion in the blazing heat without food or water. She would awaken, bound and gagged in a thieves encampment where the two leaders hovered over her while bickering over the girl's fate. While distracted, they hadn't noticed the fury filled girl break free of her bonds. She slaughtered the men and presented their corpses to the camp, proclaiming herself as leader of the brigands.
Rose would spend years of her life dedicated to building a reputation as a feared monger of Vacuo. Her group taking what they pleased and when they pleased. Though she grew bored in her years as a young brigand, even the small Grimm proving little challenge. She craved excitement. She wanted to feel the thrill of loss! When she heard of the upcoming 15th Mistral Regional Tournament, Rose signed on at the chance to become a Huntress. Fighting giant Grimm and thinking on the prospect of stronger fighters was too much to pass up! Rose relinquished her leadership of her band and set forth to become a Huntress.
She encountered several odd characters during the tournament, though she hardly exerted her strength. In the end, Rose had come out on top and won the tournament. All of the academies were vying for her attention while endorsements came in to sponsor her on cereal boxes and other advertisements. The attention brightened her mood some and the money was nice, but she still hadn't found a proper challenge yet.
So she had traveled to each of the academies to test their mettle and gauge the quality of their faculty. Rose went through the tournament at each academy she visited, not only assaulting the pathetic Grimm in the area but also tripping up her competition. To her it was amusing to see the sad candidates get crushed and beaten, but she ended up growing bored of the cycle. It was the psyche evaluation that caused her the most grief. The girl wasn't a psychopath, but the way she handled the questions gave pause to the test takers. She was wild and blood thirsty, but someone with enough potential to be of great use to the Hunters...not to mention they were desperate for candidates. So the girl passed, albeit under careful watch. Ultimately, Rosalia Phoenix had settled upon Haven Academy to be her institution. She could only hope that they would provide her with sufficient challenge and education needed to be the best of the best.

People panicked like mad and in the ensuing chaos, Rose escaped the arena and hunted down her handler. She retrieved her parents' sword and dug it deep into her slave master's gut before fighting her way out of the burning town.
For days she wandered the desert with a single minded desire to survive. Yet there was nothing but the endless sand. Rose passed out from exhaustion in the blazing heat without food or water. She would awaken, bound and gagged in a thieves encampment where the two leaders hovered over her while bickering over the girl's fate. While distracted, they hadn't noticed the fury filled girl break free of her bonds. She slaughtered the men and presented their corpses to the camp, proclaiming herself as leader of the brigands.
Rose would spend years of her life dedicated to building a reputation as a feared monger of Vacuo. Her group taking what they pleased and when they pleased. Though she grew bored in her years as a young brigand, even the small Grimm proving little challenge. She craved excitement. She wanted to feel the thrill of loss! When she heard of the upcoming 15th Mistral Regional Tournament, Rose signed on at the chance to become a Huntress. Fighting giant Grimm and thinking on the prospect of stronger fighters was too much to pass up! Rose relinquished her leadership of her band and set forth to become a Huntress.
She encountered several odd characters during the tournament, though she hardly exerted her strength. In the end, Rose had come out on top and won the tournament. All of the academies were vying for her attention while endorsements came in to sponsor her on cereal boxes and other advertisements. The attention brightened her mood some and the money was nice, but she still hadn't found a proper challenge yet.
So she had traveled to each of the academies to test their mettle and gauge the quality of their faculty. Rose went through the tournament at each academy she visited, not only assaulting the pathetic Grimm in the area but also tripping up her competition. To her it was amusing to see the sad candidates get crushed and beaten, but she ended up growing bored of the cycle. It was the psyche evaluation that caused her the most grief. The girl wasn't a psychopath, but the way she handled the questions gave pause to the test takers. She was wild and blood thirsty, but someone with enough potential to be of great use to the Hunters...not to mention they were desperate for candidates. So the girl passed, albeit under careful watch. Ultimately, Rosalia Phoenix had settled upon Haven Academy to be her institution. She could only hope that they would provide her with sufficient challenge and education needed to be the best of the best.
