Biography
Personality/History Freeform
Whitaker has lived his whole life in the service of others. Born in Argus as an only child, his family was in the construction business for at least two generations. Bringing Atlas’ technological wonders to the common people of that city. As a younger man, he serviced Mistral in the war as a part of the kingdom’s engineering corps. Spending most of his time either building or tearing down defensive structures in dangerous territory gave him a practical and efficient mindset. Defending those worksites from either enemy soldiers or the Grimm also made his body into a suitable tool, though by no means was Whitaker an extraordinary combatant. His deciding battles were with procuring building supplies, meeting deadlines, and providing the actual combatants with all the engineering support they could have on the Vacuoan front.

His deciding battles were with procuring building supplies, meeting deadlines, and providing the actual combatants with all the engineering support they could have on the Vacuoan front.
After the war, Whitaker signed on as a foreman for a new construction company that worked on restoration projects in Mistral after the war. Daedalus Construction Company tried to modernise the neglected infrastructure and housing of the kingdom. Whitaker earned a rather hefty salary as he was a precise man who almost always stayed on budget and within the deadline. Instead of hoarding wealth, the foreman at first spend his earnings on making sure that those under his employment earned a suitable wage. This meant that he made up the differences between human and Faunus workers, and raised their total income a little bit on top of that. Human or Faunus, it doesn’t matter much when you work together working from dawn to dusk on site, or fighting back to back during the war. The board of the company thought him mad for doing that, but it gave Whitaker loyalty and a highly motivated workforce.
One of such projects started 22 AV, and it was focused around the city of Mistral and its outskirts. Project Tramontane was imagined by the Council to bring some of Atlas recently acquired comforts to parts of the city. They advertised everything from central heating to a new public transportation network. The Fall and the following barricade of the city by outlaws put all of these ambitious plans on ice for the foreseeable future. And a lot of people without a job. Deadalus was one of the chief companies who invested the most front-end in terms of workers they hired and equipment they procured for the job. On the verge of a possible bankruptcy, they laid-off every worker they had outside of Argus city. Whitaker was the only man in Mistral that the company couldn’t replace, so he was requested to get his stuff and meet with the executive back in Argus.
Whitaker refused and resigned at the same moment as he threw the messenger out of his door.
He wasn’t going to abandon his workers. Some were people who he knew for decades, though even the new hires he wouldn’t abandon just like that. They were friends, they were family. The only family he had left at this point. Whitaker tried every connection that he had to give those under his employment a different place to work with contacts that he had in the city.
But it just wasn’t enough.
Till Whitaker was contacted with an offer that would give all of his workers, as well as himself, a suitable employment as long as they didn’t ask too many questions and didn’t minded getting their hands dirty. Not having too many options left, Whitaker and the bulk of his remaining unemployed workers joined up. For a man who had always been precise and rather played it safe, this turn was somewhat unexpected. The weird behaviour had started earlier, but it was becoming more apparent. Impulsiveness, apathy, and a lesser ability to plan and concentrate. It must be aging, the workers turned goon thought amongst themselves, Whitaker knew better. He knew what was starting to haunt him. An inescapable curse that was catching up on him. It would die with him too.
All what motivates him is to ensure that he leaves those who placed his trust in him in a better position than they were.
