TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
The exhibition tournament had begun. The rules for this tournament itself were simple, the fight went on until one of the two entrants was either knocked off of the arena, their aura was fully depleted, or conceded the match. If both participants are knocked off of the arena at the same time, then the first one to get their entire body back on the arena itself is declared the winner. If two people’s aura dropped at the same time, the match is considered a draw and a rematch is scheduled at the next available open timeslot to declare a definitive winner. Draws were so rare as to be a nonissue in the past, but there was a rule for one nevertheless.
The fighting area itself is white concrete measuring approximately fifty meters by fifty meters raised about five feet in the air. The concrete itself is scuffed and shows signs of use, because it was on this area that all classes that used it in the past. The damage dealt in previous years was repaired, sure, but signs of that repair still remained. This was one of the bigger training facilities with some more equipment nearby, and that equipment was put to good use. There was a scoreboard that was lit up with the names of the contestants as well as their faces gracing the board. Contestants started between twenty and twenty-five meters away from each other, with a five meter by five meter block where each contestant could choose to make their starting position.
The matchup up at this juncture was one between two very new students who didn’t know each other very well. Rosalia was the Fifteenth Mistral Regional Tournament Champion and had a decent pedigree to back her up, and Holly’s interests were much more industrious with setting up an entire club very soon after coming into Haven Academy for the first time.
The stakes of this match were simple: the winner advanced to the next round of Class Green’s side of the tournament and had the chance to make it to the Grand Finals against the Class Red if they won three matches. Winning in the finals would not only secure a very prestigious spot in the exhibition rounds of the Vytal Festival with all the media attention that entailed alongside a shot at glory in front of the entire world… but it also meant winning the first Class Competition.
Homeroom became a mandatory part of the day starting at eight o’clock in the morning for everyone involved, and it was a decent half mile distance away from the dorms itself. The winning class of this competition will have their homeroom located as near to the dorms as possible with catering staff to serve breakfast until the next clash between classes. The losing class, however, will be exiled to Training Area Four roughly two miles from the dormitory and will have no catering – being forced to pack their own breakfast or wake up super early in order to eat before heading out. Since winter was fast approaching, this was not an ideal situation for anyone involved and harshly punished the losing team by forcing them to wake up earlier and make the trek in the snow every single weekday morning for an indeterminate amount of time.
Naturally, the stakes were high enough that nobody in the right mind wanted to lose. An extra half hour of sleep every weekday morning added up to two and a half hours of sleep a week – or ten hours of sleep a month. That’s a lot of sleep potentially lost due to the commute over, which could have adverse effects in all of the losing class’s performance in school as a whole. That was a far away concern at this point, however, as the contestants were setting themselves up on the arena itself and waiting for the timer to tick down to zero. Currently it was at around fifteen seconds remaining, allowing for last-minute adjustments on either side to get that little edge they might need before the conflict began.

Their leader had fought long and hard during the draft for Class Green. He had used logic and sound reasoning with his careful use of points, yet made it a point to ensure that Rose was on his team. It showed that she was not only an obvious first draft pick, but that Colt wanted to win this thing. This exhibition was a culling of sorts to prove who was the best suited to represent their class.
Rose believed in absolutes and she would do what she had to. There was no messing around here. The Vacuo girl came to Haven to become the best of the best and there was no way that anyone was going to stop her. She wouldn't hold back against her enemies and she most definitely wasn't going to hold back against her friends.
Besides, the rewards for winning were too great. Decent sleep and catered food? Hell yeah! Plus they got to rub it in the Red Class's faces that they were the best! She had to ensure that they won this whole shindig and that meant clearing three rounds...no sweat.
This also was a bit personal for her. She was the Fifteenth Mistral Regional Tournament Champion which entitled her to a pseudo celebrity status. Not to mention she was the leader of a dangerous gang of bandits back home. With that much shit backing her? Yeah, there was no way that Rose was going down that easy. Hell, she had her face on cereal boxes and broadcast commercials!
She showed up on time to the exhibition round in her usual attire. A short white tank top, cut blue jean shorts, and leather boots with her favorite red leather jacket. She hated armor of any sorts that merely slowed her down and honestly very few managed to ever catch up with Rose. So it wasn't a big deal if her aura took some minor damage.
The arena was fairly large and very plain, which was fine by her. Though it did mean no wall gimmicks since that would lead into a ring out most likely. Winning meant either a ring out or beating the opponent until their aura broke. Standard tournament affairs. Rose stepped up to the arena grounds and assumed her position on one of the squares, drawing her sword Rebellion as she did so. The weapon rested comfortably on her shoulder as the blonde breathed a readying sigh at her challenger.
Holly Hock. She didn't know much about the girl unfortunately, so Rose would have to start the first round studying both her fighting capabilities as well as her Semblance. Still, she couldn't help but give a challenging smirk to the pinkette.
"Hey, Pinkie Pie! Give me a good fight, yeah? I'd hate it if my class had any weaklings in it. Hell, you know what? I'll even let you go first if you want!"
As she spoke her taunting words to the girl, Rose felt her body shake with anticipation of the fight. She couldn't lie to herself...the blonde was beginning to get excited with the prospect of a one on one against a fellow Huntress. Crimson red lightning came to life around her slightly at first and then built up as her adrenaline increased, crackling violently to life all around her body.
Holly was going to loose. Not the best mindset to go into a battle, but she had it engraved into her mind the moment she heard about her opponent. She had to fight a tournament champion. She had seen the cereal! She wasn't going to beat Rose 'Thunderthighs' Phoenix on this stage! Because if fighting a celebrity wasn't enough, Holly was also forced to fight in an arena without any plants. Not even a blade of grass! She honestly needed to take with her some plants after all of this was done. Maybe a vine, or something else that she could carry...Could you use flowers as throwing stars?[break] [break]
Well, perhaps it wasn't the worst if she lost now? Rose was a way better candidate to fight for class Green than she was. If anyone was going to get them that exclusive classroom, it sure as heck wasn't Holly Hock. Perhaps if the fight was about leading the best club, she could have won...because she had the only club, to her knowledge. Well, better not disappoint at least. Have to set at least some standards for the bottom of the Green barrel. [break] [break]
Our favourite resident plant girl was wearing her usual attire, consisting of her favourite, and only, white dress. The clothing was weathered and had spots of dirt all over it, as did Holly herself as both her hands and feet didn't seemed to have been washed after some early morning gardening before she came here. Food doesn't pick itself. Holly walked a bit slumped over towards her starting position, her entire body language screaming that she silently had already determined that she wasn't going to be the winner even though her face remained stoic.[break] [break]
Holly took a low fighting stance, with her buzzsaw in her right hand. She normally used this pose to be closer to the ground to control plants more easily...but that wasn't going to happen. Damn, I really should have taken a vine with me! Next time, next time. The girl looked at Rose as she started talking, her gaze betraying no emotion what so ever. Pinkie pie? Holly was not a snack! She was either plant girl, Holly, or Poison Ivy! Holly frowned slightly, before she gave a deadpan response.[break] [break]
"If I am a pie, than why don't you come and slice me up? I am deliciously strawberry flavored! Unlike your cereal!"[break] [break]
Holly wasn't going to run and deplete the energy that she had by unnecessary movement. She wanted to give Rose at least somewhat of a fight to keep the Green honor intact. So...don't blow it in the first minute.[break] [break]

Her grin slowly crept across her face, growing wide and possibly quite creepy at the girl. She never held back or sand bagged against an opponent and she wouldn't start today. It wasn't her style to hold back, after all. It was all or nothing! And to make fun of her cereal to boot? Oh hell no! She did NOT just go there!
The lightning flared up around her as she widened her stance. Well, if Holly wasn't going to take the opportunity to make the first strike, then Rose would be more than happy to oblige.
"Slice you up? Be careful what you wish for, Strawberry Shortcake. It might just come true!"
Her semblance kicked in as dashed across the arena. Speed working in tandem with a strong tank of stamina would keep her flying around for a long time to come. All Holly had was a strange little saw thing in her hand. Rose was fully confident that she was fast enough to dodge any attacks that came from the girl, but still kept a close eye on the weapon.
Closing the gap within mere seconds, Rose would pull her weight on the handle of her blade and allow gravity and momentum to carry the weapon horizontally to strike at Holly. She expected the attack to miss and would prepare to continue the swing in a full 360 degree spin to bring the blade around a second time to slam against the girl.
Though the spin would leave her a bit disoriented for a few seconds, so if her gambit had failed...then it would leave the blonde desert girl open for a counter if her cocky play didn't bear fruit. But either way, whether she hit or not, the risk to her aura was worth it to throw her opponent off balance and scare her a bit.
"Come on!" She'd shout during her onslaught. "Hit me! Come on and hit me!"
As Holly saw Rose dash towards her, her mind suddenly flashed towards a nature show she watched recently about Vacuo. Rose was a goddamn lion, and Holly was the juicy gazelle that was going to be its lunch. Her speed was something Holly couldn't match, though she tried to dodge the attack no the less. [break] [break]
Holly did so by jumping to the ground, going prone. By letting herself fall flat on the ground, Holly was able to dodge the first broad swing that Rose attempted. Still, that didn't much protected Holly from the second swing that came more lower and would have hit her if she didn't took action. She could have skillfully dodged the blow if she was fast enough...but Holly knew in the split second decision that she was going to be hit no matter what. Her mind also concocted the most dump plan in recent memory.[break] [break]
Grab the blade and hold on. [break] [break]
Alright...hear me out. Holly knew from hearsay that Rose 'Thunderthighs' Phoenix was a mean, lean, killing machine. She could lift boulders, cut through solid steel like it was butter, and with her semblance she could move quicker than a freight train. She also had the mind of a freight train, if the rumors in that one video about Rose was true. Also, be as durable as a freight train. If Holly used conventional fighting tactics, she would loose surely. If she fought unconventionally, she might stand a better chance. So, Rose is strong, she could lift Holly easily...so maybe she won't notice at first that she scraped Holly from the floor before it was too late? Her semblance could at least take one hit from that blade, and if Holly could hold on to it with all her might, maybe Rose would misjudge her swing and drop it? Hopefully not outside of the ring, but still. [break] [break]
So that was exactly what Holly did. When Rose went for the second wing in her 360 degree spin, instead of dodging the blade like a sensible person, Holly fully grabbed onto the blade with the intend to cling to it like roadkill. Holly weight 55 kilos, and that was most likely enough for Rose to realize that Holly was trying to cling to the blade instead of dodging it.[break] [break]
How it felt you ask?[break] [break]
Like being hit by a freight train. The description was accurate. Holly was thankful for her semblance taking the brunt of that attack, because Holly was quite certain she otherwise would have been in pieces. Keeping a hold of that blade? One of the most difficult feats Holly had done in her life. Both the speed and strength of the attack made it quite gruesome, but the girl was eventually well aware that she was not dead when she heard Rose talk. Well, scream and not be all that aware of her surroundings.[break] [break]
Two potential futures could happen.[break] [break]
A) If Rose would have stopped in her swing after Holly had tried to stop the blade with her full body, Holly would have attempted to make Rose drop the weapon by directly attacking her hand with Slicer. She would look fearful in her eyes as she shouted: "I AM TRYING TO HIT YOU! DROP THE DAMN SWORD"[break] [break]
B) If Rose would have swung with wild abandon and taken Holly off the ground with the swing, she would try with all of her might to stay on the sword, even though this would be rather difficult, if not impossible to do for long. Because her attention was fully on not falling off the sword and flying out of the arena, she would not attack. She would scream however, even more fearful than option A: "THIS WAS A STUPID IDEA!"[break] [break]
Either way, fun times to be had.[break] [break] [break] [break]

Her hand pushed the blade forward and her body followed through with increased momentum. Holly was not a wholly offensive fighter from what little Rose could gather from her stature. In fact, she appeared to be a bit frightened by her presence. Her eyes lit up with further excitement at that and it drove her to push her body into a twirling tornado, looking to bring her weapon around. The first strike had indeed missed, as she only felt her weapon cut air asunder. So she spun to deliver the second blow with an assured grace about her stance.
Most sensible folk would have dodged or found some way to side step the attack to follow up with a counter. This girl, however, went for an approach that both bemused and slightly caught the Vacuo Queen off guard. The impact drove home with a satisfying hit, but not a direct one. For the pinkette had caught hold of the sword and, using her diminutive stature, grasped her blade and held on for dear life.
If this wasn't a serious competition, Rose would have been laughing at the antics! It was truly a bold move and feisty as all hell! It blew her expectations of Holly out of the water and she would most definitely seek her out after the match to get to know her! For now though, it was business as usual. Holly didn't fight back and with the way she was positioned, it would take far too much effort for Rose to wiggle the girl off. Not to mention the weight and length of Rebellion would have made it far too awkward.
"It was a stupid idea, but an amusing one. How about I end this for you?"
She still had the momentum of the spin and now, with the added weight on her blade, Rose let the handle of her sword extend out so that she was barely holding onto it. Faster and faster she spun around with fury, her strength building in the spin as she moved closer and closer to the edge of the arena.
Rose roared furiously as she timed her spin. With all of her powerful strength built up, she would throw Rebellion hard and fast at the outlying wall of the arena. With the hit that Holly took, combined with how dizzy the insane spin would likely make her, the odds were good that the girl would either be knocked pretty hard against the wall. This would take a full frontal slam into the wall with both gravity and the weight of the sword crushing her and unless she had the acrobatics and stamina to kick off of the wall, Holly would ring out.
Rose staggered slightly from the spin, but never kept her fury filled gaze on her target. On her prey. She wondered what the wily girl would do and if she could continue on after that.

[attr="class","RDcontent"] This was a stupid idea. Holly could only scream as she was spun around by Rose, with no way to speak any coherent sentence with the state she was now in. Her mind screamed her body to let go, but her limbs simply refused to do so. She still clutched her weapon in her hand, but she had much more pressing matters in her mind than to attack now even if her body would respond. She knew that if she had let go some time ago, she wouldn't be in this situation being the human version of a hammer throw event. Tell that to her garbage set of limbs that didn't wanted to let go of holding onto that sweet sword action. Still, something changed Holly understood that Rose was walking towards the edge of the stage. Which happened only moments before she would have released Rebellion from her grip. [break] [break]
Just before Rose would have released her sword, the girl seemed to have regained some control over her own body again. It happened when Rose started her roar, which caused Holly to let go just moments before the sword was tossed. This was both a good thing and a bad thing.[break] [break]
The good thing was that the sword still flew out of the stage, most likely being tossed into the wall as there wasn't a cute pink-haired girl attached anymore that would hinder its momentum. If Holly’s goal was disarmament, she succeeded in that goal. Maybe this was just a big brain plan that only a tenth level intellect could come up with. Act like you are a clueless idiot, and then utterly and one-sidedly defeat a much stronger opponent. Kishka would find it a wonderful plan, and praise Holly till the end of time while giving her hugs! Evil hugs! If Holly was anything like a capable huntress-in-training, this would have been a clear positive outcome that maybe even got her a victory. [break] [break]
The bad thing was that Holly was not that good in her job. When Holly let go of the sword, the cool and appropriate thing to do would be to land skilfully on your feet, maybe do a couple of cartwheels, and kick ass. Instead, when Holly released her hold of Rebellion, she was quite literally rag-dolled across the stage to the adjacent edge of the stage. It wasn't a graceful slide either. After making first contact with the floor, Holly just seemed to bounce again for a short moment, before crashing down again on the hard arena a few meters further. Imagine stone skipping, but instead of the sea it was concrete, and instead of a rock it was Holly. Her aura protected her from any real bodily damage, but there wasn't a whole lot of that left after such a throw. She made these adorable cries of pain and discomfort when she skipped across the arena, only stopping when she finally came to a halt... with her head sticking out right beyond the verge of the arena. Rose could simply walk over, give the girl a kick, and she would be off. [break] [break]
Still, Holly seemed to have some sort of mental fortitude that kept her stupid brain from thinking this was over. Holly tried to stand, but her limbs hadn't yet recovered from the throw. The girl looked as pale as a ghost. Her head hurt all kind of bad and the world was still spinning violently. Her tummy also felt funny, like it was turned upside down. All kinds of bad. Still, not giving up, Holly tried to formulate a sentence. Her mind actually told the girl that engaging Rose was the sensible option. Half-screaming, half incoherent sobbing, she tried to taunt Rose. "I WILL NO-" That was all she could muster before her body said 'NO' and the girl barfed over the side of the stage. [break] [break]
It wasn't much. Holly never ate much, but it was enough for a solid two second of noises that Rose could hear. The extreme spinning seemed to have taken a toll on the girl's physique and fortitude. Holly, on her part didn't really processed that she had thrown up before she noticed it on the floor below. First thought to her mind: Dammit! Now nobody will think I am cool! I am not only the girl who lost fighting Rose, I AM THE GIRL WHO THREW UP WHILE DOING IT! [break] [break]
Still, despite the pain and shame, physically this made at least the turning of her stomach feel slightly less bad. Also, the shock of knowing that you vomited kinda jump-started her limbs to come into action. All well and good, but what to do with that regained sense of autonomy? Holly, precious soul that she was, decided to first sit down on her butt, before slowly getting back on her feet. While doing so, her full attention was on Rose, no matter if she was still standing at a distance or had gotten closer.[break] [break]
Plant-Girl still looked somewhat determined in her eyes, but her stance was wobbly. Also, not even that she had realized it herself, her weapon was no longer in her hands. Yes, she had dropped it while being tossed around the arena. Again, Holly should just give the thing a wristband. Without any weapon in her hands, Holly seemed to take on a fighting pose like she was a damned punch-drunk boxer. The words she spoke were coherent enough to some extent, and unlike the girl's normal uninspiring tone, there seemed to be a real fire to her words now:[break] [break]
"I...I am NOT giving UP before I, HOLLY HECKING HOCK, HAVE GIVEN A BLOW THAT THAT PERFECT JAWLINE! COME HERE, CEREAL MASCOT. LET ME GIVE YOU A BITE! I NEED MY FIBERS TO GROW BIG AND STRONG!"[break] [break]
When I said coherent, I meant dissolving into screaming a weird insult that confused the actual Rose with the picture of her being a mascot on the cereal brand that sponsored her. To be fair, it wasn't that much weirder when she didn't take a self-inflicted beating.

Rose flat out flung the sword with all the strength she could offer. So much so that that blade collided with the wall and dug in half way in with a loud CLUNK! She grinned widely at the satisfying sound, but noted that Holly had not held onto the weapon after all! No, she was sent all the way across the arena in a painful display that almost made Rose want to laugh. It did get a snicker out of her, but a sardonic snicker.
"This is getting...kind of sad actually."
She wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn't this. The blonde threw her arms behind her head and started making her way toward Holly as she started to find her bearings. She was defenseless and confused and...oh god. Was she hurling over the side of the arena? Jeez! In comparison, Rose hadn't even had her aura dented by the pinkette and only a few simple maneuvers that played from the blonde's strength had nearly decimated both the aura and will of her opponent.
The girl didn't really seem to even know what was going on anymore. Had Rose really messed with her that much? If she had any empathy, maybe she would have felt sorry for her. But at this point, she just wanted to end this fight and move on to the next one.
"No hard feelings, Holly. I think we can call this one an L for ya."
No witty one liners. No snarky comments. She'd end this and move on before she humiliated the girl any further. But then Holly stood up in an awkward stance that couldn't even pass for an amateur fighting pose and spouting some nonsense trash at Rose. Oh, how quaint. Perfect jawline? The line actually made Rose stop and touch her jaw. It wasn't that perfect...well, no that wasn't true. It was pretty great, but she had to digress.
Rose swung her arm as she neared Holly. Unlike her, she wasn't tired or hurting or even winded. Rose assumed a guarded hand to hand fighting stance, one fist close to her chest and the other guarding her face. Never underestimate an opponent, especially a desperate one.
Her semblance activated and she would use her speed to catch Holly off guard, aiming to punch her square in the solar plexus close in her upper body. If Holly would attempt to dodge, then Rose would sweep her leg and use the momentum of gravity to trip the girl, seize her by the gruff of her shirt, and throw her out of the arena without ceremony.
Of course there was always the chance Holly would do something unexpected. Still, Rose was through with theatrics.
"Just give up. This fight is over...and I have broken your spirit. Don't make me break your body too."

Someone once said that it is pointless to be afraid of the inevitable. That person didn't had Rose Phoenix charge at them, fueled by the amazing strength of her abilities and semblance working in harmony. Holly could have taken this fight a 100 different ways, but in the end they would all be different variations of the same thing: A loss for her and a win for Rose. It didn't matter much if it was by lesser abilities, skills, tactics, confidence, or overall talent. This game would have never had another outcome in Holly's head.[break] [break]
Holly tried to dodge the first blow coming towards her. Emphasis on tried. Even if she hadn't just taken a beating, and with the room around her still spinning, there was little chance she could have pulled it off. She tried to leap out of the way but her movements were just not quick enough to accomplish anything. The punch directed at Holly eventually landed higher than expected because of the movements the Plant-Girl made. Her aura just barely holding on with a few percent as the air was pushed out of her lungs. Her legs were not having it, and the girl almost literally rag-dolled as she was falling to the Arena floor. Holly just was right about done at this point, and would have been well and good to throw in the towel.[break] [break]
Then Rose took a hold of Holly, and Holly looked up at blond woman.[break] [break]
At first Holly's addled mind thought that her fellow student was making sure she did not fall down. Her legs were now dangling half on the floor, with the only thing keeping the girl somewhat upright was the blond powerhouse. Holly looked at Rose, almost wanting to say a 'thank you' for not letting her crash to the floor. She didn't do so when Holly saw Rose's face. Was it disgust? Was it apathy? All that Holly knew was that it wasn't the face of someone who was helping her in this moment. Rose wasn't interested in giving Holly what she wanted. Holly was barely an inconvenience for Rose. A little pink ant to stomp on. One little speed bump on her road to glory. [break] [break]
Holly expected Rose to just take Holly to the edge of the arena and let go of her collar. Rose didn't do that. Magenta eyes turned wide as they looked at Rose as she threw Holly out of the arena, the girl not even resisting in the slightest at this moment. All the sound that came from her mouth was a grunt of pain. She made hard contact with the floor outside of the arena with a loud thud, a magenta shimmer rolling over her body indicating that she had nothing to protect her now. Holly felt the pain of being mercilessly tossed aside quite vividly, though physically she didn't receive anything more than some scratches. Looking down at the floor, her mind was still not capable enough to comprehend that the fight was over. All that her mess of a brain now thought about was that if this demon of woman would give another hit, it is over. [break] [break]
So the girl did something very basic. Very human. As she laid on the ground, she just placed her hands over her head wanting the hurt to stop. Whatever adrenaline-fueled bravado the girl exuded a few moment ago were gone. Holly wasn't a fighter. Not really. She could fight, and she was still stronger than most could hope to be in their life. Still, being strong doesn't make someone a natural fighter. It doesn't give you that mindset. Not truly. All that was laying down on the floor right now was a scared 19-year old, cowering and afraid that the demon of a woman above her would just hit her again. Holly stammered a bit, the only allegeable words being: "Don't, please. Don't, please!" [break] [break]

In class she would smile and be nice. She would make an effort to...make friends if she could. But first and foremost, Rose was here to become stronger. To be better. There was no room in her heart for kindness when the weak was concerned because they would only get in the way of the strong. It was not harsh of her to teach Holly this lesson now...maybe she'll actually learn and survive one day from this fear instilled in her. Though Rose was taken slightly aback by just how terrified the pink haired girl was of her.
The hit delivered was far more solid than she intended. Perhaps she overestimated how strong Holly's aura was? Because she was literally sent off her feet from the hit! Rose followed up with the grab, as if she were snatching away a wet towel with a look of contempt on her face. She didn't enjoy this. Winning was one thing, but she always craved a challenge. Something to push her limits and if she lost? All the better! It meant that she could get stronger and work towards a wall in front of her. But this? It made her sad. It reminded her of the...children of Vacuo. The ones that she...
NO! Rose reeled back and threw Holly across the room and out of her sight. She shook in anger and disgust at herself as she looked down at her trembling hands. Rose hadn't even paid attention to the screen displaying 0% for Holly's aura. She had won. Woop dee fucking doo. Her hair fell lazily over her face, hands tightening into fists as she stalked her way toward Holly. The blonde hopped off the platform toward her and reached out but then stopped.
She saw the girl's fear of her as she clutched her head. Her her terrified ramblings. Rose just stood with wide eyed realization that she was still a monster that instilled terror and she hadn't even tried. Had she lost the chance to make a friend? Was she destined to be alone? Something deep down inside sunk within her like a pit of despair in her gut as her hand slowly came down to her side.
"I won't. This is over, Holly. You have guts, I'll give you that, but without talent or skill...those guts will spill out on the battlefield. Or worse, you'll be a burden to your team and they will die for you. Do you want that on your conscience? Stop fucking around and get better or get out. Bravado is good for no one."
Rose spun on her heel and walked toward the entrance, passing by the puddle of vomit that Holly had spewed. She approached where her sword lay harmlessly and bent down to scoop it up, resting it heavily on her shoulder and left the arena without another word. She had won...she was done. Simple.
The girl was still in a Rose-induced shock when the cause of her suffering approached. Holly wasn't too easily scared normally, but then again...she has never been this easily destroyed in a fight. The battles the girl had fought before were mostly against Grimm, and they were not all that impressive at that. Anything that would have been a serious danger to her health and safety was given berth. No point in dying a pointless death on her island. While her father called it a sensible survival tactic, it didn't exactly push the girl in how to actually fight enemies that were way stronger than her when it was needed.[break] [break]
So...she was she cowering in fear. [break] [break]
If Holly was in her right mind, maybe she could have convinced her body to move, stand on her legs, and accept her defeat with some witty banter and a smile. A 'Oh I will get you next time, Rose Phoenix!'-type taunt. Holly knew that she was to be defeated here regardless, so that little taunt was the best she could have hoped for. A message that said that she knew she was garbage now, but maybe she would be less garbage later. Maybe she could even ask this superior fighter for pointers. Ask for help like some cool little protegee. Wait, would Kishka mind sharing Holly? Was Holly dividable between two overlords? Hmm, most likely not. Well, not that it mattered much. Holly was still a frightened mess when the blond spoke, and she didn't got a word out of her mouth in reply. Holly was too afraid to even look up at Rose addressed the pink girl, and not every word registered. Holly winced slightly when Rose spoke, her mind still not a 100% convinced the speech wasn't followed with a kick to her head. She got the gist of it: Get better or you die, or you get your team dead.[break] [break]
Well, the thought of getting others killed wasn't all that encouraging...nor was actually dying. At least those basic concepts still seemed to somewhat register in her brain. Holly couldn't die! People would be sad if she died! Well, not all that many people in Haven...but her family would be sad! Mom would cry, Delwyn would cry, Clair would cry! Dad would most likely even cry when he was alone! It would be horrible! Wait...would that happen? It might be months before they actually knew that Holly would be dead. No scrolls or reception and all that. But eventually they would cry! Would they? Of course they would be sad! I was their daughter and sister! Of course they would cry! Even though...me being all that didn't stop them from sending me here...to be beaten up...and potentially dying. Nor did she received word from any of them sense she left...must be hard getting a card or word out...that was it.[break] [break]
Holly felt sad. Sad about losing, and sad about what Rose said. Soon someone would come to check up on Holly. Make sure she wasn't physically injured after her aura broke. She was fine. A bit bruised but fine. It wasn't that her body was all that broken. No, it wasn't. Her spirit was, though. For more than one reason, it seemed. [break] [break]
