Primrose was not a young woman of exceptional superstition. While ghosts obviously existed - Clearly, or else radios and tvs wouldn't work - and souls were provable science, the Faunus was relatively certain that ghosts didn't exist outside the realm of technology. What could they hope to achieve, just wandering about aimlessly? It seemed like quite the silly notion, existing merely for the sake of drifting about and spooking people, especially when there were so much better ways to use one's time! Or would it be after-time? Ghosts were dead, after all.
When she first caught wind of the rumors that there was a ghost of some that haunted Haven's halls, she was not convinced. She'd needed more solid proof to believe it- And even upon being shown evidence of it's existence by a number of inexplicably place black handprints, Primrose was not so easily swayed to thinking the culprit was a ghost. After all, what purpose would a ghost have, leaving strange handprints everywhere? Unless there was some strange ghost magic beyond her comprehension involved, the Huntress-in-training was certain there was a more rational explanation to be found somewhere.
That, and if there wasn't, it'd mean that she'd have to simply accept that dirty handprints could appear spontaneously all over the campus! No, that wouldn't do. It'd mean shed'd have to spend time that might otherwise be used for training cleaning - And she had to clean up! Haven was her home now as much as Citrine had been, and she certainly couldn't let sets of black handprints remain, sullying the otherwise rather lovely Campus - and that just wasn't acceptable.
So, with a bucket, cleaning solution, rag and a sponge, she'd set about cleaning. In order of appearance, she tracked down the numerous handprints, sometimes borrowing stepping stools and ladders to do her due diligence as a student at Haven, and play her part in keeping the Campus clean.
One down...Two down...Three down..Four down...Five down...Six down... And the hours ticked by, until finally, she found herself inexplicably located on the roof, just after the sun had started to sink below the horizon. At first, she'd taken a moment to appreciate the lovely view - And it was a lovely view! - before remembering her goal, and realizing she was sharing the roof with another person.
How curious! She hadn't thought anyone else would be hunting not-ghosts...But this was a school for Huntsmen and women, so she did suppose it made a sort of sense. Unless...Certainly, this wasn't a ghost? Could it be?
Well, there was only one way to find out, wasn't there? Armed with only her sponge, water bucket and spray bottle of all-purpose cleaner, she made her approach. Up close, the other certainly didn't look very ghostly- No, he in-fact looked very much like a person. Maybe it was just another not-ghost hunter after all.
"Sir," Primrose asked once she was close enough, feeling there was no point in being indirect with what either was or was not a wandering spirit, "You're not a ghost, are you?"
Another day of painting, or well, leaving his mark. After his encounter with Nasrin, the raven-haired man had taken a huge fascination with the idea of 'tagging' locations with something that would represent himself. Having the creativity of a boulder, Qiu'li had simply opted for coating his hand in the black can of spraypaint that he had found and slapping it against the wall while it was still wet to leave his mark. Unbeknowst to him, Qiu'li had also left streaks despite assuming the paint was dry. In addition, the rumors of spirits and ghosts had gone over his head entirely during his days of leaving his mark. Of course spirits exist! Qiu'li grew up acknowledging that they were the remnants of those that preceded himself, and that they must be treated with respect. Of course, there are such things as good spirits and wicked ones- some with regrets and others that have unfinished business. Regardless, Qiu'li was taught to treat the topic of the afterlife with respect since their death would serve as a lesson to others in many ways. Therefore, when rumors of a ghost going around haunting Haven began to arise, the raven-haired man paid little attention. [break]
[break] He also couldn't possibly fathom why a spirit would leave handprints behind. How silly. [break]
[break] Aside from finding enjoyment in tagging places as a symbolic way of declaring his existence, Qiu'li found it as a fun, challenging way to test the limits of his acrobatic and leap abilities. The higher places he sought and the more obscure his locations were indicative of progress. Progress that he could physically measure. As the raven-haired man had finished his next hand print, he turned and looked out at the surroundings. Qiu'li had climbed onto the rooftops and sought out one of the higher ones. It wasn't quite the tallest, but it was surely one of them- which showed that while he had a ways to go, there was progress, and he was satisfied with that. Looking out at the horizon, the sun had began to sink. The raven-haired man walked up to the rooftop edge and took a seat, with his legs dangling over the edge as he noticed the students walking about with their day. Some ran along with friends, others were alone scurrying along. The Academy was lively as ever, and the sensation of knowing that he wasn't alone here was a comforting feeling. Another day passed at the Academy, another day that he survives. It took quite some time, but the raven-haired man had to constantly remind himself that he didn't need to spend every single waking hour with the constant need to switch on and off his survival instincts. Right. He wasn't in Forever Fall anymore, but that was no excuse to slack off his training. [break]
[break] Despite that.. [break]
[break] "A beautiful view..." Qiu'li muttered to himself. It reminded him of his time with Evangeline during midterms, when they admired the rising sun while it was still raining. He gazed at his blackened hand and closed it slowly into a fist, recalling the warmth of her hand that was intertwined around his fingers. He wondered what she was doing, what she was thinking about. She hadn't responded to his Scroll messages in quite some time and it worried him. Where was she? Why wasn't she responding? Did she hate him now...? Qiu'li wasn't sure, and that uncertainty frightened him. First Flower, now Evangeline. [break]
[break] His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sensation of someone, or something approaching. It wasn't hostile, but he was quite high up. Perhaps it was a small animal, like a bird or a squirrel. To his surprise, it was another person that appeared from the bottom of the rooftop. Fluffy, pink-white hair. Curved horns. Bronze skin. Someone he had never encountered before. Qiu'li had seen many people, but she was a relatively new face. Qiu'li got quiet when he was around new people, but then again he wasn't much of a talker to begin with. Either way, as soon as she climbed to the top of the roof, Qiu'li would stand up and turn to face her with his back towards the sinking sun. His sharp, slanted, dark-brown eyes gazed at the woman with his characteristically piercing look while she stood up... Armed with a bucket and a bottle? She started to approach him and uh... Asked him if he was a ghost? [break]
[break] This took Qiu'li by surprise. He was sure he wasn't dead... Right? Qiu'li didn't react visibly to her question as he continued to gaze at her. The raven-haired man tried to process what she said and tried to make sense of what she meant when she said that. Why would she assume that he was a ghost? Was there something about him that was indicative of it? He was wearing his usual navy blue robes, linen pants, and black boots. Probably not. Maybe it was his skin? It wasn't incredibly pale or anything, but now that she suddenly posed a question so absurd to him, the raven-haired man had no choice but to actually question it himself. Was he alive?! Did he somehow die and didn't realize it? He would hear stories from Master Sattota that many spirits don't even realize that they were dead until someone encountered them. That would be terrible! Qiu'li never even figured out the answer to his master's question yet. He couldn't die now. [break]
[break] Wait, if he was a spirit, there had to be an easy way to prove whether or not he was dead or alive... Ah! That's it. Spirits can't interact with those of the living, therefore there was a test that he could use. He began to walk towards the unknown female and gazed at her with his usual intense stare. Without a single word, Qiu'li reached out to touch her. If he made contact, he would be definitely not a spirit. If he went through her, he was indeed dead. An ingenious plan, indeed. Though now was to confirm whether or not he was really dead or not.

It would be an odd question, to ask someone if they were alive or dead. But it was entirely fair, given the circumstances- At least, Primrose felt that way. If there was a ghost, it was important that the student body of Haven know about it, right?! Certainly! Given that and her general lack of concern for ghosts over all, it didn't particularly spook the Faunus to not get an answer, and instead see the maybe-ghost approach her. Actually, it made sense! If it wasn't a ghost, then touching her would prove it, right? The tell-tale sign of ghosts was not being able to touch things...Which, think of it, made Primrose feel all the more certain that the black-handed culprit wasn't a ghost at all. And if it was a ghost...Then maybe it just needed to touch a mortal to be reminded of it's past time! Prim wasn't really an authority on ghosts, so she didn't know if that's how they worked or not, but it seemed worth a try!
As if in silent, perfect understanding, Primrose raised out her own hand, and met the probably-not-a-ghost half way, letting their hands touch. For whatever reason, it seemed a bit wet and sticky...But it was certainly there, which made the girl thoroughly convinced this gentleman was, in-fact, not a spirit of any kind. Knowing that (or at the very least, feeling rather certain of it), Primrose retracted her hand, and gave an apologetic dip of her head to the young man. "Forgive me for the rude question, Sir...I didn't think you were a ghost, but with the rumors that had been spreading, I wanted to make sure..." She paused for a moment, before realizing she ought to introduce herself. It was the least she could do, after subjecting this stranger to a weird test of ghostliness.
"Ah, where are my manners...? My name is Primrose Pashmina- But, you can call me Prim, if you'd rather. I'm a student here at Haven...It's nice to make your acquaintance." Saying that, she offered out a hand to the other person, blissfully unaware it was now quite smudged and dirtied with wet paint.
How convenient- She held out her hand for him to touch, and contact it made. Her hand was held outwardly, palm facing him as he met it with his own. His hand was larger than hers, and her fingers were rather slender. Qiu'li gazed at it as the dark, bronze colored skin shone in the sinking sunlight and reminded him of another person that he had worked with in the past. As their hands made contact, Qiu'li merely moved his gaze from her hand to her face as she pulled back and lowered her head out to him. He tilted his head sideways slightly in confusion to her remark as he vaguely recalled the rumors about the spirit. Surely... They couldn't mean him could they? Nah- improbable. Qiu'li wasn't one for vying attention anyways, so even if it were the case, he certainly wouldn't want to be in the spotlight now. His mind was snapped back to the one known as Primrose as he she introduced herself. [break]
[break] After her formal introduction, Qiu'li made a note of her name and appearance. "Name is Qiu'li." He said in his deep, accented voice. "From Forever Fall. I am happiness to meet you." He said in response to her as he extended his own hand to meet hers. As he clasped her hand, Qiu'li himself had forgotten about how his hand was covered in paint prior, and merely transferred more onto Primrose's. With introductions out of the way, Qiu'li released his grip and folded his arms. "What had lead you here to this high place, Primrosepashmina... Prim?" He corrected himself as he gazed at her. "You are in search of a spirit..?" He asked as he glanced around him. While he couldn't sense spirits, Qiu'li wondered if she somehow possessed some kind of divinitive power that allowed her to be able to sense those from the afterlife. Wait. Before that, what exactly was she planning to do to said spirits when she found them...? [break]
[break] Qiu'li was no stranger to exorcists. He's seen a couple of them in the past, usually dressed in strange outfits and outlandish robes. This one didn't seem to fit the bill for them either. They were usually incredibly scrawny or had sunken cheeks, like skeletons. Regardless, the raven-haired man seriously doubted whether or not she was someone who had the ability to exorcise demons or spirits. If not the case, then what exactly was she doing up here? "Qiu'li?" Prim repeated it back, before giving a small and polite nod. "A good name." She affirmed as she shook his hand- The Faunus still couldn't quite manage a smile, but she did her best to sound friendly and enthused. Why wouldn't she be, after all? She was making friends! Or, at least she thought she was. Getting to know people had been a matter of course in Citrine, given how much co-operation the village required to function. But her parents had always seemed to think her social skills lacking, so Primrose had elected to take up a tertiary mission at Haven- Socializing. And look her her now, doing exactly that! Mother and Father would've been so proud.
As Qui'li inquired what had lead her to the roof, Prim held up the cleaning rag and spray bottle she'd brought along. "Ghost hunting and cleaning." She explained flatly, but imitating cleaning motions with the clothe as she did. "It seems there is a vandal on the campus. Rumors say it may be a ghost, but I am not quite so sure that's true...What would compel a spirit to make a mess of a school...?" She placed the rag back into her pocket before bringing the empty (paint-covered) hand to her chin, looking contemplative.
"...I suppose it could've been mad for having been trapped in a tv or a radio..."
With a quiet sigh, the girl shook her head and gave a shrug of her shoulders. Who was she to try and discern the intentions of the deceased? "I do not know much about ghosts. But I am good at cleaning, and ghost or not, it would be wrong to leave the campus unkempt. If it's to be my home for the next several years, I will treat it as such- And I never leave my cleaning duties unattended." Primrose gave a shake of her head, with a look of determination gleaming in her eyes. "So, I cleaned, and the cleaning lead me up here. Now..." She paused, and gave a quick glance about them.
...The two of them were definitely on a roof, weren't they?
"Now, the cleaning is done." She gave a satisfied nod, very clearly quite pleased with herself and sense of dutifulness.
"What about Qiu'li...?" Primrose asked, giving a curious tilt of the head. "Were you also cleaning?" While it seemed unlikely, she hoped so...It'd be nice if it turned out someone else felt as committed to the campus as herself.
This was a first for someone to compliment his name. Either they always mispronounced it, ignored it, insulted it passively before moving on, or a combination of the three. Either way, Qiu'li couldn't help but blink in surprise when she said that. It had a surprisingly positive effect on the raven-haired man, though his face gave little indication aside from a somewhat enthusiastic nod. "I have appreciation." He said in response as he gazed at the rag and bottle. Ghost hunting and cleaning...? They seemed like very unlikely tasks, but tasks they were according to Prim. Qiu'li didn't know what a vandal was, or what it had to do with ghosts, but seeing how serious she looked, it must be a mischievous spirit. "Ahh... I have heard stories of those kinds of spirits. They are often children, or tricksters that enjoy games and cause mischief onto others." The raven-haired man noted as he blinked in response to her notion of spirits going mad from being trapped in a TV or radio. "I hear that spirits can become bound to things in the world of the living, but to go mad from it..." Qiu'li rubbed his chin in perplexion. This was a challenging thing to think of indeed. If it were simply a spirit that liked to cause mischief, then the solution would be easy. However, the story is different if it were bound to something and unable to leave. [break]
[break] "Unfortunately, I do not clean this grounds as diligently as you. I was practicing my acrobatic skills and arrived here." Qiu'li said as he took a step back and turned his gaze towards the sinking sun. "To leave my mark here is my desire; I do not have much to give, not many to remember me, therefore I would hope to think of a way for others to remember me by." The raven-haired man said as he took a seat in his original spot where his legs dangled off. [break]
[break] "I know a bit about spirits and their behaviors." Qiu'li said in response to Prim's distress. He knew the basics of cleaning, though he doubted he could be of much help in that department. However, the adamant and desire to keep the Academy clean was something world commending from the raven-haired man. Though he felt a bit guilty about not being able to help in that department, perhaps he could offer his skills in divination. "I have seen exorcists and spiritual mediums work before- maybe I could be of assistance to you." He said as he turned back to look at her. "Your actions have been noticed by me, and I will work hard to help you if you will allow."

"Child spirits..." Hearing the suggestion that the culprit of the black hand could be the ghost of a kid, Primrose felt a bit sad. It made her think of her sister back home, and what could've become of her had their mother not intervened...What a horrible fate, to wander the world long after one's time had come to pass. The faunus' brow furrowed, and a frown tugged at her lips as she considered it.
Following in Qiu'li's example, the girl seated herself besides the edge, settling down gently over the top of her folded legs. She listened intently as he explained what had brought him onto the roof. Nothing to remember him by? A sad thought indeed- While remaining behind as a spirit was it's own type of disturbing, the idea of not being remembered by the people around you was also rather unhappy. Thinking that, she spoke up softly, doing her best to seem encouraging. "Acrobatics are a skill worth honing- Though I doubt mine are as impressive as yours, they were necessary to learn in the mountains I called home..." Primrose paused, thinking her words might be a bit lacking, before adding- "I am told we all leave our own marks in some way or another."
His proceeding offer to help her in diving whatever manner of possible spirits could be marring the school grounds was something of a surprise- But a pleasant surprise, to be certain, and it was enough to bring about the appearance of one of Primrose's uncommon smiles. It wasn't a large smile, bright or ear to ear, but it's light was able to reach her eyes regardless, making it obvious it was genuine. "If I am to be honest, I am not so certain it is the work of ghosts- But if it is indeed the work of lingering souls, I would hope to appease them...That in mind, the aide of one with knowledge on spirits and how to exorcise them would certainly be invaluable in doing so." Saying as much, the faunus extended her (paint covered) hand back over to the other Hunter-in-training, an offer of partnership on the matter of ghost hunting.
Qiu'li noted her unpleasant response to his suggestion of it being a child or a trickster of sorts. Perhaps she had experienced the loss of someone that was young? Death was a common thing in Remnant, therefore the death of someone as young as children wasn't something that Qiu'li was a stranger to. Regardless, it always left a bitter taste in his mouth knowing that the preventative death of others existed. He didn't respond to her sitting beside him, but his glances over to her became slightly more frequent. A peculiar person, indeed. "In some way or another... I doubt not the words that you speak, but to the extent of the marks we leave leaves much of desiring." Qiu'li commented as he thought about the notion. Of course everyone leaves a mark somewhere after they leave this world. Whether through a marked gravestone or a large mound in the ground, everyone leaves something behind. However, Qiu'li desired more than to be a mound in the dirt. He wanted a way to be remembered by, even when those around him are long forgotten.
[break]
[break] He noted her home being in the mountain with a nod. He too, lived in the mountainous regions and could relate to her. A fellow mountaineer, at least. Qiu'li was glad that he met someone that at least shared some similarities to him in terms of origin. Well, there was that one strange person whom he had encountered during the midterms that knew about Master Sattota and dressed like one of those spirit mediums, but he hadn't seen here on the Academy campus since. He wondered if she really was a real person at that point...
[break]
[break] Qiu'li continued to gaze at Primrose, and noted down her smile in his head. A very pleasant one to look at, to which he responded with his usual furrowed brow and neutral face. Following her movement down to her hand extended out, the raven-haired man simply gazed at the hand that was outstretched to him. He understood the concept of a handshake as a form of a greeting, but didn't understand the dual meaning of also being a promise or a way to express the confirmation of an agreement. Perhaps she was saying hello again? Either way, Qiu'li took her hand and clasped it with his own before looking up to affirm her. "Yes. I will do my be-" Qiu'li froze immediately as he made eye contact with Primrose.
[break]
[break] Prior to sitting down, Qiu'li hadn't looked at Primrose's face. In between him turning to sit down and her sitting beside him, she had a look of thoughtfulness on her face while she had her fingers around her chin, the darkened hand, and the same hand that was clasped against his now... Holding onto her hand for longer than needed to be, his eyes widened as the proverbial gears in his head began to spin and he finally made sense of things: The black that she was cleaning wasn't some kind of ash or soot- it was black paint. His black paint. The one that was in his hand to leave the prints behind. The one that was supposedly covered all over her hand now. The one that was around her chin when she touched it earlier.
[break]
[break] The raven-haired man felt a chill go down his spine as he tried to reason how to get out of this situation. A normal, rational person would simply realize their mistake, apologize profusely, give a concise explanation, and clear up any misunderstanding.
[break]
[break] Qiu'li already failed at step one.
[break]
[break] Looking around with a slightly panicked expression, he spotted the bucket and whirled his body over in acrobatic fashion to grasp the rag while still holding onto Primroses' hand, forcing them both up as he still held onto her hand. If she let go, it might get problematic for him as she might notice her hand before he removed the evidence. Now, it was a race to cover his tracks. Now, the problem was how does he get her to remain connected to him in order to remove the current evidence..?
[break]
[break] He had a crazy idea, but one that just might work after remembering his time with Eva. Immediately, he moved his fingers along her hand so that instead of clasping, they were intertwined with hers. Yes. Intertwined to keep her from escaping! Once that was completed, Qiu'li gazed at Primrose with a burning intensity. However, the intensity was more or less his thinking face as he tried to figure out how to wipe the smudge off her face. The paint was relatively fresh, so it was easy to remove. The thing was how was he supposed to explain getting a rag on her? Also how the hell was he supposed to reach her? He solved the latter problem by pulling her a bit so that they were a bit closer... Oh yes! If she was focused on his face, she won't notice him wiping her chin!
[break]
[break] "Prim." He said to her. When he was nervous, his voice got much lower. In addition to his intense stare, Qiu'li sneakily reached under with the rag around his hand as he touched her chin and ran his hand along it to ensure any paint got wiped off. Wipe wipe. "Err.. You have nice skin."
[break]
[break] Qiu'li hoped to the spirits this would work.

A PLACE TO REFRESH HEART & MIND

"I suppose so...But the purpose of this, and the other academies, is to allow one to become stronger, and with more strength, one will inevitably leave deeper marks. It requires time and hard-work, but as long as one lives, time and hard-work are not hard to find." Of course, Primrose had no intention of resting upon her laurels, and she didn't expect anyone else to do that same- Actually, she'd be rather cross with anyone intending to, but that didn't mean she was unaware or unwilling to admit her own achievement. Certainly, her younger self would've never expected as much as she'd already accomplished for herself, learning to wield a weapon, leaving home and coming to Mistral to attend Haven. It was only the first step in her journey to become a proper Huntress, being able to prevent future tragedies and attone for her past failure...But it was an important one, all the same. Primrose didn't know of Qiu'li's history, what hardships he might've endured to bring him to Haven- But she hoped he'd recognized the value of his own efforts. Just because hard-work should be expected didn't mean it should go unappreciated.
The returned hand was a good sign, and though her face had settled back into it's more standard placid state, she was nonetheless pleased. The cheer at having a spirit hunting partner quickly turned to confusion, however, as Qiu'li seemed to freeze as he looked at her. She remained quiet for a few moments, looking with a bit of uncertainty between the other's face and their locked hands, head tilting with just the slightest inkling of confusion. Perhaps where he came from, it was rude to offer a second handshake...? But then why would have he accepted it in the first place?
As her mental questions formed, the faunus found her confusion exacerbated as Qui'li made a strange and sudden movement, forcing the both of them to their feet. What could've provoked such a reaction? He was still holding tight to her hand to and- Oh. Now he was holding it in a way that an outside would've described as more intimate...Though, given her rather lacking knowledge on the subject, that wasn't the word Primrose herself would've chosen. Glancing from their interlocked hands to the other Hunter-in-training's face, the young woman was surprised to find herself being pulled somewhat closer. Qiu'li must have had very strange customs for solidifying partnerships back home.
Her head tilted as he spoke her name, and for once, on account of her mixed feelings of sheer bafflement and surprise, it reflected quite clearly on her face. She felt a soft, spongy and slightly wet something run against her face, though with where it was, it wasn't quite in her line of vision. Was that a hand...? It didn't seem like would be- Or at least, not entirely, as the texture felt a bit...off. And then, as if to put the cherry on top, came a strange line from Qiu'li. "You have nice skin."
Uncertain of what to say, the girl nodded, and not wanting to be rude- "Qiu'li...has...nice...s-skin as well...?" That was an appropriate response, wasn't it?
Needless to say- This was all very unexpected and rather inexplicable. There had been times that it was pointed out that Primrose's own behavior was rather strange, but she felt even her own oddities were not so pronounced as everything that had happened in the last few minutes. What could've cause it all? Blinking in silence for a few more moments, a sudden realization happened upon Prim. This was all a very strange, sudden display, and Qiu'li offered to help her in exorcising and appeasing the spirits, should there be any. If that was true, then the reason for his weird display was quite obvious. "Qiu'li, have you been..." She trailed off, looking away momentarily before meeting his gaze with wide eyes. "...possesed by ghosts?!" He'd offered to help her commune with and exorcise them...But to think his method would come into effect so quickly! "I did not know that it was possible to commune with spirits so immediately! I had thought medium's rituals and exorcisms required much more work to facilitate..."
Qiu'li nodded earnestly. "To seek what true strength is, that is what I desire." The raven-haired man said. "That is one of the reasons I have set out from Forever Fall." Qiu'li recalled the moment in which he expressed his desire to his master. The look of worry and hesitance on his face as he realized that there was nothing that could shake the raven-haired man's resolve at the time was etched in his memory as Qiu'li departed from his home in search of what true strength meant to him. Though he had yet to find out the answer to his long posed question, his desire to find the answer to his question hasn't wavered since his acceptance to the Academy. The thing was, the raven-haired man had difficulty gauging progress; all he had to base off his efforts from was his master, and the cryptic ways that he posed things made it difficult for him to acknowledge his own strength, or figure out where he needed to go. Yet, Qiu'li did not relent, and continued to pursue what strength meant to him, instead. [break]
[break] What did it mean to be truly strong? Qiu'li was still searching for that answer. [break]
[break] -- [break]
[break] Her head tilted in response to his actions, and quite frankly, Qiu'li was surprised that she didn't question it more as they found themselves on their feet. In all honesty though, that was the last thing on his mind at the moment while he rushed to wipe off the ink from her face. She didn't seem to be questioning anything at all, from him lifting her onto their feet to their interlocked fingers to the direct eye contact. Where it not for the bizarre situation that they were in, Qiu'li would have actually enjoyed this all things considered. Her face finally resembled something as the moist rag wrapped around his hands made contact with her face- or at least as animated as she could possibly make it. Confusion and surprise wasn't exactly the most difficult expression (or the least expected in the current scenario) to make and the raven-haired man was relieved to see that his plan was working. Sort of. [break]
[break] Qiu'li paused mid-wipe as she responded with his own line back at him. The sheer ridiculousness of the situation made him all the more confused but there was no time to lament on that. Trying his best not to draw attention downward, he was relieved to see that the black marks were gone, but from Prim's point of view he was probably staring at her lips with a burning intensity. His attention snapped back to her eyes when she turned her head and looked away, to which his alarm increased when he saw a huge streak of black paint along her jaw that was inexplicably there for some reason- how did it get there?! [break]
[break] While she was in the middle of turning her head back to meet his gaze, the raven-haired man ran his hand against her jawline with the moist rag to quickly wipe up that spot too! This was starting to become exhausting for him, as it seemed like the more he tried to cover his trail, another problem arose for the raven-haired man. The sudden assumption that he was being possessed by a spirit was utterly ridiculous to Qiu'li, almost to the point of him outright denying it. However, that was a thought that made him hesitate for a moment. What if he was? No, wait. That's foolish. What did possessed people even look like? Did they act the same or do they take on the personalities of their former selves? He was just trying to avoid getting caught less he risk getting in trouble for it, but now he found himself in a strange situation. Though Qiu'li hated the idea of impersonating the dead, mostly out of respect for them, the raven-haired man may need to break the principle to get out of this current situation. [break]
[break] He gulped a bit as he steeled himself. May the spirits forgive him for what he's about to do- Qiu'li made a mental note to do one hundred prostrations before the spirits later to ask for forgiveness. [break]
[break] Qiu'li suddenly raised his arms (and conveniently tossed the rag over her head to let it land in the bucket again) and dangled them in the air, letting his wrists go limp as if they were held up by puppet strings. His head tilted slightly and his intense eyes continued to gaze at Primrose with his seemingly menacing stare. In response to her question, the raven-haired man made the most creaky nod of his head as he could before taking a step towards her. Oh spirits, what should he say next? Uhh... Oh! Right!! "C-Cleanse..." Qiu'li moaned as he grasped her wrist and turned her arm upwards, revealing her blackened hand as well as his own. In most stories he heard, the job of the exorcist is to purify the places that have been tainted by the spirits. A clean spirit is one that has been removed by the dark humors that have plagued it, therefore allowing it to pass on. [break]
[break] This was a long stretch, but hopefully one that could convince her that he was indeed possessed.

WHEN A COOL DROP OF WATER'S ALL I NEED GOTTA CLEAR MY HEAD OF ANGER & GREED,
A PLACE TO REFRESH HEART & MIND CAN I FIND SOME TIME IN RIVERS IN A DRY LAND

Watching Qiu'li's display, the young woman was spell-bound. To think, the culprit really had been a ghost the whole time! Yes, of course. It made so much sense now. It hadn't been a purely supernatural occurence- The spirits had been using the other Hunter as a medium, and smearing the campus in that way. Looking at it now, it was so obvious. What wasn't as obvious was the rag that flew inconspicuously over her head, landing back in the bucket she'd brought with her. She hadn't even known Qiu'li had picked it up in the first place, and even if she had, there were far more pressing matters to focus on right now!
Seeing her and the young man's black stained hands, Primrose looked away briefly, considering what to do. Cleanse, huh? She wasn't really that familiar with spiritual channeling and cleansing- The only sort of cleansing she knew how to do was the sort that involved dusting, mopping, scrubbing, that sort of thing. Of course, she'd grown up with legends about mountain spirits and been taught the importance of honoring one's ancestors...But was that the sort of thing that helped with possession? Prim really wasn't sure. Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse- Agh! How did one go about cleansing spirits?! Then it occurred to her- Qiu'li had just answered her question of if he was possessed, and he'd offered to advise her before about how to track down a rogue spirit. If both he and whatever ghost were possessing him could answer the questions, then presumably between the both of them, they could just explain the process. "Of course." Primrose accepted the command with a serious and earnest nod. "I will do whatever is needed, but I have no experience in these matters. Please, tell me what I need to do to cleanse you."
If someone were to leap into the past and tell Qiu'li that he would meet someone on top of a tower covered in black paint and had to pretend to a Faunus that he was possessed by a spirit that wanted to pass on via 'cleansing,' he'd probably think that he should lay off whatever herbs he had scrounged up while he was gathering out in the Forever Fall forests. Regardless, this scenario just got weirder to the point that Qiu'li couldn't even fathom the idea of going clean. He was in too deep, and he had to keep this up until the end. The problem was... How was he supposed to end this?! At some point he probably hoped that Prim would finally catch on that, or at least notice the flying rag and call him out on it. [break]
[break] But nope, looks like he has to see this to the end. [break]
[break] Qiu'li responded to Prim's earnest gaze with his own and gave her a nod of confidence, as if to say that he believed in her. "Cleanse.. Come from words from there." He said as he released his grip and pointed to where her heart would be located. In all honesty, Qiu'li had no idea what real exorcist would say, but hey, at least neither did she. Maybe she could make up some phrase that came to her head or something. As he tried to figure out how to sell this the best he could, Qiu'li had one more idea. Considering how they had never met, he banked on the fact that had probably not seen his Semblance before...
Moving his hand towards his waist, Qiu'li drew out his tonfa, a metal rod with a handle sticking out perpendicularly at one end before holding it out to Prim. "Defeat me.. And the spirit will be released..." Qiu'li said with a determined gaze on his face. This wasn't exactly the most conventional plan, but it sure as hell sounded convincing. Plus at least while she beat the shit out of him, the sweat and steam accumulated during his Semblance activation could help wipe away the black paint on his hand! [break]
[break] Wow, Qiu'li was terrible with plans, but in his defense, who prepares for pretending to be possessed by a spirit?
