There was no easy way to say it. Forsythia was bored. When she'd been accepted into Haven Academy, she had been excited to, among other things, meet new people. The thing was... most of these people didn't seem to be the kind to enjoy being pranked, or at least she didn't know them well enough yet. She recognised some people in class Red, of course. Sanctum wasn't exactly the smallest school of all time. Unfortunately, everyone seemed busy, so she was just sitting outside her dorm room, thinking about the other graduates from her old combat school.
The one that stood out to her was the giantess of Sanctum, Berwyn Rhodes. In all honesty, Forsythia has never disliked or looked down on her senior. It's not like they had ever interacted much... or at all... but even so, in the eagle Faunus knew the older girl for her reputation. Back at Sanctum, she had pitied Berwyn just based on the way others treated her. After all, the blonde knew how it felt like to be disliked.
Sure, she was generally liked back at Sanctum, but even she knew that sometimes she pulled her pranks at the wrong time, and people wouldn't be grinning or laughing. So yeah, she had felt a little bad when she watched the older woman be treated as a challenge or a brainless oaf by other students. When Berwyn had left Sanctum a couple years before Forsythia's own graduation, the younger girl didn't know what had become of her senior, so imagine her surprise when she learned that the giantess of Sanctum was at Haven... as a first year.
Forsythia's first thought was that Berwyn had failed her exams and been held back, but judging from the way she was acting, it seemed that the giant human was as new to Haven as the Faunus. Eh, the older girl seemed to be pretty uncomfortable and a little nervous, so she wasn't gonna push anything. She didn't know much about the giantess, due to their nonexistent interactions.
The blonde was sitting around with nothing to do. She had forgotten to charge her scroll, and so she was evaluating the other students on how gullible they seemed. "No, no. Don't think like that just yet," the eagle Faunus scolded herself, "I'm supposed to not instantly prank people I haven't interacted with. That's why some people didn't like you at Sanctum!" Sound reasoning, Forsythia was sure, but even so, it was her only alternative to just sitting around and doing nothing, and so she ignored her chiding and returned to her plotting. She was snapped out of her trancelike state by the sound of someone opening a door.
Looking up, she saw someone emerging from the dorm a little away form hers and then... legs. Really big, thick legs, at least compared to her own. Legs that could only belong to one person. Looking up, the blonde slowly took in the giant form of Berwyn Rhodes, who looked back, as if she had felt the other girl's gaze. "Uh... hey!", Forsythia greeted, a little nervous and caught off guard by the giantess' sudden appearance, "Berwyn, right?" _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Two time π times R with R being the radius, plus 2 times π times radius times height.
Was that really the extend of math that is being given to a first year class? Basic geometry? Why are the students being given basic math while they should have already had this at combat school years ago? While Berwyn was certain that she could ace the class if it kept to this level, she also kinda felt cheated. Was it because a lot of the students here are less than ideal candidates? The classes at Beacon were a lot harder from what she remembered, and she didn't remembered a whole lot of what she experienced in her first year. It was...a blur that she didn't wanted to remember to be honest.
All right, that wasn't very nice, but it was most likely the truth. Berwyn couldn't call them bad company, and in a lot of ways many reminded her to the old students at Beacon save for the acedemic qualities of many. The ones who attended a combat school were of course fine, but everyone else... ugh...
Prejudice gets you nowhere and Berwyn knew that somewhere deep down, but she was just at Haven for a or two week and she already felt that there were two kinds of students at Haven. Those who had formal education and proper training, and those who hadn't. Berwyn knew on which side she was, but she needed to find out if she was comfortable with that distinction being there in her mind. Kiddie math could wait, she need a walk...
Berwyn exited her room, stretching her neck for a moment with an audible pop before she tried to readjust her outfit. It was...well...it was too short. She had tried to wear the uniform to get used to wearing one again, but even with the largest size they had for it...it didn't felt right. The skirt mostly, though the black coat was also not that comfortable. Despite the dark leggings covering up everything down below, Berwyn's size made the skirt appear too small on her. She would make some adjustments when she had the time, but for now she would endure her wardrobe woes in stride. Black was still her color.
On her way down the hallway, Berwyn soon spotted a figure starring at her. Typical, but there was something familiar about this one. The giantess pondered about who it was as she slowly walked closer, keeping her eyes focused upon the small girl. Well, perhaps not too small for others, but for Berwyn there wasn't really a real different between someone being 1.50 or 1.70. She was...she was a Sanctum student wasn't she? Blond, looking somewhat self-assured... someone a few years younger? Berwyn hadn't really kept up with a lot of the junior classes, or at least not on the level that she got to know them well. Not many were that interested in being her friend, so she never really made the effort. Well, that was old Berwyn! This is new Berwyn! Time for a positive attitude!
Standing a bit too close for comfort, Berwyn went slightly through her knees to be more equal with Forsythia. A puzzled look was on Berwyn's voice for a moment before she gave a slight smile and tried her best with what her memory had remembered about blond girls from Sanctum. "You are, you are Erytheia, right? I remember you slightly from Sanctum. How are you doing?"
A swing and a miss, but a good effort! Next time, remember your blonds!

"It's Forsythia actually... but close enough," the eagle Faunus replied, "But It's fine if you get my name wrong. You always seemed... preoccupied. We didn't really interact much, so it's not a big deal that you didn't know."
Wait. Didn't that sound kinda bad? Like she was saying that they shouldn't talk to each other? But Berwyn wouldn't take it that way, would she? Forsythia didn't know the older girl all that well, so she didn't know how the giantess would react. Well, she should probably clarify... just in case. Maybe she should break out one of her
Shaking her hands in front of her, she spoke quickly. "N-not that that's a problem or anything. Just cuz we haven't talked in a while doesn't mean we can't do it now!". Man, that made it sound even worse! What was she thinking? Stupid stupid stupid, AGH! Forget it, change the topic, don't give her a chance to respond to that.
"Anyway, I'm doing fine! It's been a while since we last interacted!" Forsythia continued. "A really long while," she thought to herself, but didn't say anything aloud, hoping to keep the mood up.
An awkward silence. Okay, it wasn't even a second long, but it seemed like centuries. Say something. You've got so many options. What's your semblance? Nah, too personal a question to start off with. A what's your name wouldn't work either, since they both know that the eagle Faunus knew the giantess' name. Can I see your weapons? Nah, nah, that just sounded creepy. Eventually, Forsythia settled on something.
"How have you been doing?"
Sure, it was boring, and sure it could seem like she was prying. Wouldn't that be kinda creepy? But Berwyn had already said it to her, so it wouldn't be. And it's not like she was some creepy old guy twice the giantess' age. She was just another student here at Haven. Maybe she could... wait. Wait wait wait. She had just had an amazing idea, the perfect icebreaker for this awkward situation!
Before the older girl could respond, the little Faunus girl shook her head side to side vigorously, her mostly untamed locks shaking with her. Sure, she had resolved not to play pranks on new people, but Berwyn wasn't TECHNICALLY new. Furthermore, it's not like what had just came to her was a malicious prank, like the ink bucket.
It was one of the classics, and this was the perfect situation to bust it out. So... with all the factors considered... why not? Momentarily, she wondered if Berwyn would be one of those stuck ups like Ce- no, no. not now. That pink haired holier than thou sadist was a topic for another day. And, from what Forsythia had seen from Sanctum and from her interactions with their classmates, the giantess was actually a pretty nice person.
"Man, where are my manners?" Forsythia exclaimed, holding out her hand for Berwyn to shake, making sure to hide the palm from the older girl's view, and struggling desperately to suppress the mad grin that threatened to break out across her face at any moment. The ol' whoopee cushion in the hand trick was a classic, and boy, was she not gonna pass up the opportunity to use it. "After all, it's been so long. The OBVIOUS proper etiquette for a lady like me would be to shake your hand!" _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Berwyn seemed to be only slightly nervous at guessing the wrong name as she slightly flinched at Forsythia introducing herself. The blow was somehow lessened in part by the girl calling Berwyn 'preoccupied'. It was...a way of phrasing that made the giantess think for a bit. Did it mean that she thought that I was always busy with trying to keep up, or did it mean that she thought I was a dullard and a-
The train of thought was interrupted when Forsy didn't call it a problem at all. Berwyn's slightly startled demeanour changed to a pleasant smile as she just tried to move past all that awkwardness. I called your name wrong, you called me an oaf. Maybe. "We can talk now because we are talking now unless you do not want to talk...so then we can stop talking." Riveting dialogue Berwyn!
Berwyn simply blinked a few times during the conversation they were supposed to be having when that awkward silence did arrive. Should I now say something? Should I wait till you say something? Eventually, the smaller of the two broke that pause in their already stale interaction with the most open question Berwyn could think off. Boring, but hard to answer.
How have you be doing?
Talk about getting 'kicked out' of Beacon?
Talk about the heart-attacks?
Talk about steroid abuse?
Hmmm...
"I-"
Oh, thank whatever is holy and good in the word she stopped me from being up trying to make sweaters for dogs. It was a failed experiment and you know it! Still, why did Forsy ask a question and then immediately take it back? Berwyn looked like a confused sheep at the small girl as she extended a hand. "Well, I don't know if I qualify as a lady, but I will shake every friendly hand pointed my way."
Fearing no evil or ill-intentions, Berwyn to a small step back to allows her own arm to easily reach the other girl's offering hand. Her own hand would as good as encompassing Forsythia's tender fingers, but even with the size difference, the ploy with the whoopee cushion went off without much of a hitch. Because of the force that was always behind even the gentlest of handshakes, a loud sound would be heard that seemed to have a nice echo to it. A solid 9/10 on the scale of faux-flatulence. Berwyn, either because of her own blissful ignorance or trying to act like she wasn't just played with the oldest trick in the book, gave a slightly hasty and well-meant response in her low voice. "Well, excuse me. I guess that was...uhm...my fault..."
Her voices faded away in a tremble. She managed to keep up the facade for a moment longer before that sweet face of Berwyn seemed to crack and she seemed to be getting upset. It happened both slowly and quickly at the same time in a way. While it was obvious that Berwyn was distressed quite easily by the look she gave and the tremble that her voice devolved into. She eventually turned around to shield her face from view entirely. With all of these obvious signs, it took longer to make out what actually seemed to upset Berwyn about what happened. The girl muttered to herself, though her voice actually didn't make it hard to not make out even if you tried. "To think that...that they would actually stop making fun of you, Berwyn..."
Crossing her arms, Berwyn seemed to have taken the harmless prank as something way more meant as something more mean. Her mind too preoccupied with thinking of reasons what she did wrong or how to improve even more, instead of noticing that nobody was actually laughing at her expense...or the fact that there wasn't even an audience to laugh at all.

Forsythia grinned inwardly as the whoopee cushion was pushed, watching the girl in front of her turn red with embarrassment. But... her smile fell as she watched the giantess seem genuinely distressed. Upon hearing what the older girl had said, her mind went into a panicky state of her own. Berwyn looked like she was about to cry, and upsetting people to that extent was never fun. The eagle Faunus definitely did not want that. She had to find some way to defuse the situation, it seemed, but it was hard to keep herself from panicking.
Showing her hand to the giantess, Forsythia could feel her own face scrunch up in worry as she displayed the whoopee cushion. "Hey, hey, look!" she said quickly. She really hoped Berwyn wasn't the grudging type as she continued. "It's just a whoopee cushion. I didn't really expect it to work because everyone back at Signal knew that this was how I greeted people. I definitely didn't expect you to take it this badly."
Didn't that seem kind of rude, though? Like she was putting the blame on the bigger girl? But what could she say? Oh, she should probably take the blame for the awkward situation. "Uh... it's my bad. I should have known better, I don't prank people to genuinely upset them. Sorry." She looked down now, feeling awful. She knew how terrible the Berwyn's situation had been, just from seeing her interact with other Sanctum students lone. She'd wanted to help the girl back in Sanctum, and now she had a chance - and she'd screwed it up.
She smacked herself mentally. Sure, she'd messed up, but that just meant that she'd have to fix the problem. Apologising was a good start, but she had to say more. "I didn't mean to upset you. I wasn't singling you out or anything." But that implied that the giantess wasn't unique? She really was, but hey, it was better than her thinking that Forsythia had maliciously pranked her, something she'd never do to someone who she'd barely interacted with. It went against everything in the spirit of pranking for fun. She just hoped the older girl didn't take offence to her words.
She looked up at Berwyn a little worry leaking into her face. She barely knew ANYONE here, to be honest, so she really didn't want to ruin her reputation again. She had just pranked a few people already, but they'd just laughed it off. This was the first time at Haven someone had gotten upset at her pranks, and she really didn't like the guilt growing in her chest. In her mind, she whispered to herself, please don't be mad, please don't be mad, don't hold a grudge.
Once more, Forsythia mentally kicked herself for not considering that Berwyn would probably take pranks worse than other people, given the giantess' treatment and actions at Sanctum. Why hadn't she thought about the idea that the person who was treated as an obstacle or a freak in her old school would react differently, even after such a long time? Stupid, stupid, she chided herself. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
