[attr="class","popqiu"] | [attr="class","qiutext"] After his visit with Niraya and their conversation about robotics, Qiu'li recalled his visit to the marketplace in the Wind District and was off on his way there. While much of the events that had transpired prior was still somewhat fresh in his mind, it seemed like most of the inhabitants of the Wind District had mostly forgotten or moved on. It had been a couple days since the event and most of the chatter had died down most likely, though not like it was much of his concern; Niraya and Colton had soaked up most of the attention and were praised as celebrities while Flower and himself were sort of in the background. He didn't mind it one bit and was glad that he didn't garner much attention. He wouldn't know what to do or say if he was confronted with people who recognized him, to say the least. As he arrived in the Wind District's Grand Bazaar, his eyes shifted around. Qiu'li was no stranger to the vast, expansive marketplace that prided itself for selling everything under the sun. He frequented around the area during his free time, since staying on the Haven campus felt suffocating at times and being able to enjoy the liveliness of the market was a stark contrast and a lovely change of pace compared to the sedimentary and isolated life he had lived with his master in the forests of Forever Fall. It was much less the people and moreso the atmosphere he enjoyed, much like how one enjoyed background noise or indistinct chatter. It was nothing like back at home, where he had been isolated by his friends and peers from the village, and definitely unlike his time spent with his master. Here, he was practically a nobody. Aside from the occasional glance due to his limited facial expressions other than a scowl, Qiu'li was left undisturbed and blended in with his surroundings, to a degree. Qiu'li stood out somewhat, but he still enjoyed the experience of the market nonetheless. Either way, he had come down to browse the stores. There were some official stores that were established in buildings, though there were just as many, if not more, wooden stalls, laid out blankets with wares on the floors, and various other traditional merchants lined up in a somewhat messily organized fashion for people to pass by and inspect. Qiu'li merely walked by as various merchants were calling out and advertising their wares. He saw various pottery, armor, weapons, food--they weren't joking when they said 'everything under the sun.'--though he wasn't exactly in the right position to be spending his money left and right. He had to feed himself daily and running Requests often meant he barely made enough to keep a relatively comfortable living. While he was interested in upgrading his weapon set, he passed by various clothing shops that boasted fine clothes and 'exquisite fabrics that are made of the finest materials of Mistral.' According to tradition, clothes played an important role in his clan's hierarchy. The more ornate and extravagant the clothing, the more important and hierarchically distinguished one was within the family. These types of elaborate clothing was reserved for elders and the village heads, therefore Qiu'li had no interest in it. He wasn't one for fancy clothing, and per his customs, he wasn't really worthy of donning such clothing less he earned it. Though that didn't stop him from simply staring at the clothes and comparing it to his own. Ever since the tournaments, Qiu'li had acknowledged that he stood out greatly compared to the populace of this region. He wore a simple, fur-lined tattered robe from years of wearing and washing his only set of clothes that was wrapped by an ordinary, crimson red sash and linen pants followed by worn boots that were nearly falling apart from climbing stone and scaling trees. In addition, his fur-lined leather gauntlets were extremely worn from everyday experiences and had several holes in them. It didn't take an expert to see that Qiu'li looked like someone had dragged out a forest barbarian, but he still got several side-eyes from passerby's as well the literal clothing seamstresses themselves who frequently glanced over at him with a worried look, as if he would go on a rampage and tear down their store at any moment. Probably didn't help that he had his weapons on him too. Either way, he simply continued to gaze at the various clothing styles that rested on the mannequins. Hrm. What a dilemma. If he expended some money to buy a new set of clothes, Qiu'li could fit in better. It didn't have to be anything extravagant, just a simple set of ordinary clothes that he could switch out to. Though given his current experience, he had no idea what to wear. Huh... Perhaps this was a hopeless endeavor and considered simply moving on to the forges to browse weapon upgrades at this point. |
