Solomon Daton Moon
"Violence is the supreme authority from which all other authority is derived."
Age 21 Gender Male Faction Haven Academy Tier Beginner Face Claim Date Masamune, Sengoku Basara OOC Name OrigamiZergling |
Character Traits
Date of Birth: 3 AV
Species: Human
Hometown: Southern Atlas
Romantic Orientation: Heterosexual
Hair Color/Style: Shoulder Length Black Hair
Eye Color: Golden, Right Absent
Aura Color: Red and Blue
Height: 182cm
Weight: 80kg, 90kg w-prosthesis
Appearance: Standing at about six feet tall and weighing in at about one hundred and eighty pounds, Sol would cut an imposing figure of lean powerful muscle and angular bone structure were it not for the conspicuous absence of his right arm and eye. He often goes garbed in an eye patch in addition to a sophisticated prosthetic that while organic in shape could never be mistaken for the real thing. Sol favors a long fringe and sleeves to obscure these disfigurements but would not be likely admit to it. His remaining eye is a nearly metallic gold in hue, sometimes trending towards an acidic sulfurous yellow, , framed by a prominent epicanthic fold, while his straight, oft tied back, hair is nearly black. He goes clean shaven, but might be seen sporting a dense growth of stubble late into the day, that stands out starkly against his pale complexion.
Sol's wardrobe consists of equal parts finery and protection, with a definite paramilitary aesthetic. Jack boots, swallow tailed riding cloaks, parade pants, and lacquered articulated breastplates form the foundation of his style, all of which adorned richly in reds and blues and often sporting the eponymous fragmented aspect of Remnant's moon as his family crest.
Sol's equipment, including his armor, weapons, and uniform are kept in immaculate condition, pressed meticulously free of wrinkles, polished to a blinding shine, and are prone to receive maintenance priority over his own physical well-being. Only in the most extreme of circumstances will Sol be seen with his uniform or gear out of order.
Sol goes to great pains to do as much as possible to conceal his disfigurements, notably his missing eye and arm. He wears his hair long on the right side, even when the rest of it is tied back, and allows it to hang down in front of his missing eye, and wears a plain black patch to better camouflage it against the shade of his hair. While from a distance this can hide the truth, up close it only makes the effort more obvious. Similarly in regards to his missing arm, and prosthesis, Sol exclusively wears long sleeves and gloves, even when the weather would make that seem unlikely. This tends to be enough to prevent it from being obvious, but alert observers might notice that Sol's right arm tends to move strangely and stiffly, and those with keen ears may note the quiet whine of actuators when it does so.
Personality: Sol is guarded and cynical with a poor temper. He is very quick to judge others and just as quick to hold a grudge. He has very little sympathy for others and expects little in return, and is just as likely to mock misfortune as he is to empathize. His low opinion of Faunus is seemingly a thing of public record.
A brutal and unforgiving life has impressed upon him a brutal and unforgiving mindset. He is prone to lashing out without warning and becoming wroth with the most mundane or trivial of slights.
Despite many faults, Sol is regarded highly by his peers for having an unflinching sense of duty, dogmatic loyalty to his family and nation, a deep well of courage, and curious kindness in the most unexpected circumstances.
Sol holds combat prowess in high regard, and spends a great deal of time training himself physically, continuously searching to become stronger and deadlier, driven almost single-mindedly by the goal of being worthy to command his family's mercenary army.

Detonation
Rank of Semblance: E
Semblance Type: Manipulator
One Sentence Summary of Semblance: Detonation is a manipulation type semblance that can project conical explosions from Sol's remaining extremities and mouth.
Description of Semblance: By using his aura to excite molecules in the environment, Sol can trigger an ionizing reaction in most materials he comes into contact with, producing an unstable mass of plasma that quickly expands into a directed explosion. Such blasts take place instantaneously and at will. He can produce such explosions from his left hand, feet and mouth, and with no warning at all. The maximum effective range is 10-12m, the approximate length of a telephone pole.
The resultant blasts also interact with dust in various ways, often taking on the elemental properties of the dust in question. Sol personally prefers and has the most experienced employing fire dust.
Drawbacks of Semblance: Detonation requires Sol to sacrifice some of his aura to trigger and direct the explosion, as such he cannot use his semblance without aura. As well, due to the hazards inherent in triggering explosions in close proximity to himself, Sol has to be conscious of his surroundings, as using Detonation in enclosed places might reflect the pressure wave back at him and cause injury.
Weapon Name Here Whisper and Roar
Rank of Weapon(s): E
Description of Weapons(s): Whisper and Roar are the names for Sol's sword and arm respectively.
Whisper is a single edged curved blade, sheathed in a scabbard that has been reinforced and fitted with a magazine of dust cartridges that can eject the blade from the sheath at ballistic velocities. This style of blade is commonly called a "Kriegmesser" or "Cannon-Blade". Whisper's hilt has been modified to interface with the palm of Sol's right hand, allowing him to project ignited fuel through the vents on the spine of the blade, further accelerating cuts and strikes delivered by the sword. Whisper's sheath is hung either from Sol's hip, or fixed to a bracer that allows it to run parallel to Sol's left forearm. Sol can trigger the dust magazine, either manually with a trigger near the sheath's mouth, or remotely using his aura, as might be needed when the sheath is mounted to his wrist.
Roar is a complex prosthesis fitted to replace the entirety of Sol's right arm from shoulder down. Intended to perform the function of both his missing hand and semblance, Roar houses a fuel tank of mixed air and fire dust, and can ignite this fuel and eject it from vents arranged along the arm with notably large ports at shoulder, elbow and palm. Sol can augment his own mobility by controlling these ports and adjusting the angle of his arm. By closing all the ports save that in the palm and a few along the forearm to compensate for recoil, Sol can spray a stream of ignited plasma from his hand, up to 12m long, or lob a ball of fuel up to 24m where it explodes on impact.
Non-Combat Abilities
Name of Non-Combat Ability: Military-Adept
Rank of Non-Combat Ability: F
Description of Non-Combat Ability: Sol has studied military and combat theory extensively since an early age. The bulk of his education involved famous battles, duels, and heroes. Sol has experience with small unit tactics, resource management, and leading a team.
Name of Non-Combat Ability: Battlefield Medic
Rank of Non-Combat Ability: F
Description of Non-Combat Ability: Sol's early career with his family's PMC placed him in a support role outside the threat of direct combat. As such he spent a great deal of time caring for the wounded, and observing the process of first aid rendered in a battlefield setting. Sol has a detailed understanding of traumatic injuries, and some medical and clinical knowledge as well. Given supplies, he can render life-saving first aid, and ideally stabilize the seriously wounded long enough to see professional medical attention.
Combat Abilities
Name of Combat Ability: Ballistic Mobility (Speed)
Rank of Combat Ability: F
Description of Combat Ability: By projecting a blast out of either his intact extremities, or his combat prosthesis, Sol can propel himself at high speeds on the force of the explosion he generates.
Name of Combat Ability: Flak Curtain (Durabilty)
Rank of Combat Ability: E
Description of Combat Ability: Sol is dangerous to be near. His combat style tends to fill the air around him with explosions and vision obscuring debris. Threats struggle to target Sol additionally because of the hazard posed by being around him, and with sword or semblance Sol is capable of deflecting or halting both melee and ranged assaults.
Name of Combat Ability: Kriegmesser Fighting Style (Martial Arts)
Rank of Combat Ability: E
Description of Combat Ability:
Sol is a proficient melee combatant. His mastery of using explosive ejections from extremities, combat prosthesis, and the ballistic sheath of his sword, to augment his speed translate to blindingly fast draw cuts , and combinations strikes using every part of his body.
Sol was formerly a far more competent combatant, but a growing familiarity with the strengths and weaknesses of his implants and prosthesis has seen him take the first steps in returning to his former glory.
Name of Combat Ability: Bionic Commando (Strength)
Rank of Combat Ability: E
Description of Combat Ability: Following the loss of his right arm Sol received surgeries to implant numerous devices and structures engineered to reinforce his skeleton to account for the forces generated by his prosthesis. By leveraging the mechanical advantage of his prosthesis, and the reinforced structure of his body, Sol can produce strength in excess of what should be possible for an average human.
Name of Combat Ability: "Dead-Eye" (Marksman)
Rank of Combat Ability: F
Description of Combat Ability: Close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades, and shotguns, and flamethrowers...
What Sol's ranged options lack in subtlety they make up for in being very forgiving in terms of accuracy. The plasma grenades and flamethrower modes of his prosthetic, as well as the dust cartridge blast of Whisper's scabbard all boast wide areas of effect that more than compensate for Sol's missing eye.

Biography
History
Sol was born into a family of Mistralan low nobility, House Moon. Though not officially recognized as a noble house, the military might of the mercenary band that the family had headed for centuries, put them on par with the lesser nobles. The Moon's have taken contracts from Atlas and Mistral for years, often accepting work that would be scandalous or unpopular for the either nation's military to address directly, most recently having participated in the subduing of subversive elements operating in secret throughout the rural regions of both Mistal and Atlas. Over many generations the Moon forces have grown from a mere handful into a well equipped, highly trained, if somewhat numerically small, private army.
Sol was the only son of Terrell Moon, and an anonymous woman about whom little is known even to Sol. Terrel himself was a soldier who gained fame/infamy during service to Atlas' increasingly totalitarian regime, and following the Great War, took unpopular but profitable contracts to eliminate subversive elements still active in Atlas and south eastern Mistral. This in addition to the siding with human interests during the Faunus Revolution, has made the company especially unpopular among the Faunus and their sympathizers.
Despite losing his eye under mysterious circumstances at a very early age, Sol, like his predecessors, joined the Moon forces as a preteen and earned an officer's rank before he was legally an adult. He was kept from the fighting for the most part, but on one memorable occasion stowed away onto a troop transport bound for an active warzone. Apparently Sol was found several hours after the fighting died down, huddled in a bunker with two deceased enemy combatants. Sol could not be compelled to say whether he'd been responsible for the state of the enemy soldiers or if he were simply taking cover among their remains.
Unfortunately, Terrell was killed later on campaign, just after Sol's eighteenth birthday, when his headquarters was ambushed due to a suspected information leak, and unexpectedly left his teenage son as the defacto head of the band. The event has become dramatized over time, especially in Atlas, but the common tale is that Terrell had his throat cut while being held hostage and subsequently died in the arms of his son. Some rumors say that Sol murdered his father for the position, but such accusations have never been validated.
Sol used his new found position to seek vengeance and waged a long, perhaps poorly advised, and bloody campaign to root out and destroy the insurgency responsible for the death of his father. While successful, Sol was struck down in the climactic battle that would determine himself and his forces as victors. In addition to numerous other life threatening injuries, he also lost his right arm just below the shoulder. Clinging to life, Sol was rushed back to the nation's capital to receive life saving treatment for his maiming, but sadly the arm could not be recovered. The campaign of revenge, while successful, came at a steep cost to both sides.
Sol received a state of the art replacement for his arm, and he and his father were honored, dubiously in the opinion of some, for their service and sacrifice to the nation. His men took to calling him the One Eyed Dragon, a name that he'd earned jocosely in his youth for his fiery temper, now punctuated by his reputation for severity, and a fiery temper.
Sol spent a year and several months recovering from his ordeal, but found himself a shadow of his former self. Maimed and bereaved, Sol recognized that he was not fit to lead the Moon Forces until he had regained his strength and atoned for the bloody campaign of revenge he'd waged in his father's memory. Rather than return to his company a shell of his former self, and await someone to steal command from beneath him, Sol willingly abdicated to his second in command, personal friend and mentor, Warren Dallas. Free of the responsibility, and allotted a pension from the company funds until he could return to command it, Sol fled fittingly to Haven to seek refuge and begin relearning how to fight and master his new limitations.
