The girl had spent the better part of the afternoon shut in her room. Not because she was a recluse, but because she was trying on different clothes. She was extremely nervous, shaking from...what? Fear? Rejection? It was unclear but she had never felt this emotion before! It was driving the blonde insane as she tried on different combinations of outfits in front of her mirror.
Under normal circumstances, she usually wore casual clothes like a t-shirt and shorts but today was different. No no no, saying it was different made it sound weird! She had gone out of her way to ask those around her what these feelings were and...Rosalia dreaded the conclusion. Because she wasn't a normal girl who got to have nice things. She was a warrior who was meant to kill, not a girl that fell in love! Yet here she was...thinking with her heart. Rose had even gone far enough to ask Holly for a bouquet of flowers...rose and violet in red kitty cat wrapping paper.
After countless hours of debating, she settled on an outfit that would be deemed nice. A frilly white cream top laced by a pretty blue ribbon that tucked nicely into a short skirt that matched the ribbon. Rose even tied a blood red ribbon in her hair to keep the ponytail up and looking nice. Was it a bit too much? After all, it wasn't something that Rose normally wore and it made her look...proper. Was that the right word or the wrong one? The thought made her want to grab a pillow and scream into it!
With an unpleasant grimace, Rosalia Phoenix opened and slammed her dorm room door with the bouquet of flowers tucked in tow. There was a dance coming to Haven soon and, under normal circumstances, she would go alone as a party crasher. Snatch up some food, run around like a rowdy teen, and act like a party animal punk...yeah about that.
A particular red head had made Rose feel odd lately. It started as a simple apology for wrecking Rin's initial welcome to the school, but it quickly turned a 180 as she had kissed her. It wasn't intended and yet it was at the same time. She could still feel the sensation of the smaller girl's lips upon hers and taste the flavor of her tongue. Was that...weird? Regardless, this kiss felt different than any other before and it made the blood knight of Vacuo feel kinda sick inside. Rose knew what it was and didn't bother to deny it, so she dressed up and marched down the familiar halls of the girls' dormitories to the Hellebore room. Specifically to see Rin Hellebore. To ask the red head a simple question that could make or break Rose's day.
Adorned in clean clothes with a neat bow, a fresh scent, and a nice ribbon she knocked on the door lightly with one hand while cradling the flowers in the other.
"Rin? It's Rose...can I talk to you for a minute?"

This little room had become somewhat of a bunker. An impenetrable fortress where Rin could hide from the outside world, without seeming weird or out of place. No one but Erytheia had any access in here, nor could anyone demand to speak to her. It was a place where the girl could feel safe, comfortable. Or at least, it had been, right until Kishka had forced entry the other day. Knocking the door, then jamming her foot in to prevent Rin from closing it, before simply pushing in as she pleased. It had taken away the final place in the academy where Rin felt she could run to and hide. It had completely crushed through every final defense that Rin had established for herself. Leaving a very distraught and broken redhead, who didn't quite know what to do with herself. Lying on her back in bed, an arm over her head, eyes closed yet painfully unable to sleep. Each time that there was a noise, every time that someone passed the dormitories outside, Rin twitched back to being awake. Alert, on edge, ppossibly even slightly afraid. Frustrated, Rin eventually sat up, grabbing a book from studies and beginning to read. Getting all the thoughts pressed back into the back of her mind ought to be good for her chances at repressing the sense of dread that was otherwise filling the room. Time passed, slower than regular, each tick of the clock hanging on the wall above the door resounding so awkwardly through the entire room. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Rin couldn't quyite explain why, yet to her, it felt like time was running out.
Startled, sitting up, a heavy hand knocked the door a couple of times. Rin almost fell out of bed, with the book landing on the floor besides herself. Getting on her feet, a little disoriented, Rin hurried over to the door, her light footsteps echoing through the room. Yet, something stopped her, as her hand rested on the lock to the door. Another sudden wave of dread, preventing her from just opening. Hesitating, something inside stopped her. There was a question which needed to be asked before this door would open, and depending who answered and what was answered, Rin was going to keep this door shut."...Who's there?" There was a hint of worry, consideration and hesitation in her voice, though it was brief.
As Rose introduced herself, Rin wavered once again. Rose wasn't someone Rin could understand. It wasn't a person whom Rin could predict to any measure. From breaking her leg and being, seemingly, furious, to kissing her lips during an apology and seeming emotional beyond compare. It was a slight bit like Rin's interactions with Holly Hock. One moment terrifying and cruel, the other attempting to the nth degree at being considerate and kind. Taking a deep breath, Rin nodded to herself. Keeping the door closed in her face, if things were bad, would only make them worse, and Rin had no doubt that Rose could barge straight through the door if she so desired. In case Rose was actually being sweet, then there would be no point in keeping the door closed. So, the door opened, as Rin appeared in the door opening, looking at the blonde with her purple eyes.
"I'm studying for classes.. W-what can I he-help you with, Rose?" Rin only looked into Rose's eyes for the briefest of moments, before her eyes shot downwards to stare at Rose's shoes.

She wasn't standing in front of the door for very long, but it felt like an eternity to Rose. Thoughts danced around like mad in her mind of the girl just on the other side of the door that made the blonde shake where she stood. Some passerby students stared at her, stunned to see her all dressed up. To those few, Rose scowled angrily at them and it was threatening enough to send them scampering away in fear.
Rose clutched the flowers in her grasp slightly and bit her lip nervously when there was no immediate response. But then there came a clatter from within and a crash. What in the hell? Rose furrowed her eyebrows in concern for the red head, but when her squeaky little voice echoed toward her, Rose sighed in relief. Which was also strange to her...being concerned for another. And then...she felt her nerves act up again when Rin grew silent inside. Did she still hate Rose for what she had done? Or maybe it was worse than that! That kiss seemed to freak the girl out, warranting her to run away from Rose. It wasn't surprising, considering everyone ran away from the barbaric girl.
Though the door did actually open! Her heart seemed to lift in blissful elation at the sight of the smaller girl that appeared in the doorway. Even a smile appeared without forethought and stayed plastered on her face as Rose gave a small, awkward wave to Rin.
"Hey, I didn't mean to bug you. Just...I wanted to talk which, heh is NOT one of my strong suits. Oh!" She thrust the flowers forward stiffly and chuckled happily to cover her nervousness. "I got these for you, Rin! I um...hope you like them. If you don't it's whatever...eh heh heh."
There was no antagonistic feelings coming from her and even passing students didn't warrant her ire or attention. No. Rose was focused completely on Rin as her chuckle slowly died down and she grew serious, but with a pleasant demeanor. Her body rocked back and forth on the balls of her heels and she still hadn't noticed that she was biting her lip in between speaking.
"You see, there's this dance coming up right? I'm sure you've heard of it by now. I came by because I wanted to ask if you would like to go with me. You know..."
Rin tilted her gaze downward shyly to study Rose's feet which elicited a pounding feeling in the blonde's chest. She tried to be direct with this like a plan of attack, but this wasn't a battle that she was familiar with. It was something different...and the burning feel on the back of her neck was a new feeling entirely. Her lips quivered in a frown, a bead of sweat slowly rolled down her wide forehead, and she felt heat build up all around her body like a steam engine.
"Ah...I um..."
Her voice cracked up as she spoke, making it extremely difficult to talk. After a couple of attempts, she finally cleared her throat and reached out very gingerly to cup Rin's chin. The girl delicately raised the other's to stare into her eyes with a conviction that she was unaccustomed to.
