The bat being left alone with Aly for a moment turned out to be way more awkward than she expected. Not only did her mom and Aladriel talked all lovey dovey with each other, she now also was the victim of a public Momma moo hug. The bat being quite done with hugging for the day despite how nice they are. Certainly, if they are this unprompted. She managed to free herself quickly enough from Aladriel’s embrace again. “Yes, I am adorable! That doesn’t give everyone a card blanch just to hug me! Even though hugs are nice… and you may hug me mostly whenever.”
Vesper continued to drink her cocktail, enjoying the taste. She knew that her mom put in a quite low amount of alcohol compared to what the bar would normally serve. She didn’t really mind. That was just the extra kick. She drunk it mostly for the great fruity flavour. As it took some time before her mom returned, Vesper brought up another issue that was rather pressing. “So… do you really want me to help with your next song… or album… or whatever? Or was that just something you were saying?”
Midnight was serving drinks, as she was paid to do. Having perspective ears, she heard from two people chatting near the bar that people all over the Ground District were freaking out about toys attacking people. Wanting to perhaps tackle two problems at once. One of the local patrons at the far end of the bar was kind of a whiz kid as far as the older Faunus was concerned. She saw him filming the performance just now. For the prize of two free drinks and some eyelash batting she convinced him to send her the video of the performance, and to show her to find the public outcry online.
Returning back to Aladriel and Vesper, the barmaid was given an enticing enough offer right out of the gate. Something that caused Vesper to cringe again. While she couldn’t hear what they were saying, it sounded like Aladriel was making a move on mom? Gross… That is like… having your friend date your mom!
Of course, you are happy that both your mom and your friend are having fun, but one of them was married and the other could honestly get any fan she wanted with just snapping her fingers!
Midnight, both reading the room a bit more and seeming to consider the fact that the walls between her room and Vesper’s room weren’t all that thick, answered with a little bit more tact. “It is not safe for you to get out. Who knows what kind of riot might happen at night after all of this? Stay for the night.” Midnight said, leaning on the counter as she placed a small kiss on Aladriel’s cheek. “But on the couch maybe, dear…I hav-”
“No!”
Vesper spoke up, surprising her mom at the very least. “I am not sleeping in a bed alone tonight after everything that happens! Mom, I sleep with you in bed! Aladriel may sleep in my bed, as it is better than the couch.” Midnight blinked at the wording. It seemed more like a statement than a proposal, and after everything that happened… she couldn’t really refuse it. Still, the question remained…
Was Vesper really just scared, or was she just clam-jammed by her own daughter… Still, having another issue that was still pressing, she handed Vesper the scroll and asked. "Vesper, Aly... people could really use something to take their mind of things what is happening. Could you post a video of your performance online and say a few words?" Vesper took the scroll she and her mother shared and found the video she was send by someone. Posting it online, she thought she had a well enough message under it all.
"While things are stranger right now, there is no reason at all to blame Faunus! Most of us are just trying to have a good time. Don't believe that the White Fang did any of this. Berwyn continued acting as Chloro’s speaker and instructed the children to follow the students. Getting these children off the streets couldn’t wait any longer. It was cold. Hell, even with aura protecting herself, this was chilly enough. Chloro formed the head of the little caravan of toddlers, while Berwyn and Miss Bellflower formed the rear to ensure that there weren’t any strays behind. In the end, Berwyn carried two of the smaller children in her arms as they got tired. Not that hard considering their tiny legs.
Entering the building, Berwyn didn’t seem at all thrilled by the prospect that these children were going to stay in what looked to be prime real-estate for either gangs or for contracting tetanus. She also realised that this was most likely going to be the best they would most likely be able to manage on such a short notice with a district that was panicking. At least the children were out of the worst cold for now and with some additional work this could work well enough for now.
After placing the two children down for now, Berwyn turned towards to read what Chloro had written. There was a tired but appreciative smile on the giantess face as she responded. “Well, you cannot be blamed for what happened. I will help with the orphanage of course, even if it is just some of the heavy lifting. Maybe we can mobilize some locals after all of this is done. I am certain that there must be others who care about these kids enough to help out.”
Hopefully.
As the two students were chatting, Miss Bellflower approached them to help with a plan to let these children survive the night here. The orphanage had a few small heaters that worked on dust they could bring, as well blankets they received as donations. Food, water, and some basic hygienic supplies would also be much appreciated. Being the better lifter of the two, Berwyn proposed that she would do the first run back for supplies. This would also leave the kids not totally undefended if any of those toys decided to appear again and cause havoc again. Berwyn would keep the next watch if Chloro wanted to head out after her.
After a relatively quiet walk back, Berwyn didn’t expect anyone to be still inside of the orphanage. When she heard a sound of someone deeper in the building, her first thought was that they forgot someone. Considering that both Chloro and Miss Bellflower most likely knew the orphans by name and did a headcount, that was unlikely upon thinking for it for a second. The other thought was that it was looters. Which was… very swift.
Wanting to end this diplomatically, she entered the hallway without a weapon to find… Carmim… boarding up the wall she just broke.
…like wooden boards would fix structural integrity…
…deep breaths. Act like Miss Morgan thought you.
Still standing a fair distance away, the large woman spoke up. Her tone wasn’t unkind, though she didn’t try to hide her tiredness with the whole situation. “Carmim, stop. That isn’t going to fix enough to allow the children back.” Being smart enough to guess that Carmim most likely didn’t have all of the context, she explained further. “This is an orphanage. Me, Raul, Nina and Chloro delivered gifts here when the toys attacked. We don’t trust this building enough to house the children, even before you did…” She gestured towards the wall, “You did that. If you want to help, you will help me with gathering stuff for the orphans we can carry to the new place. There are supposed to be portable heaters around. We need to think about the small term problems. First make sure these children get through the night before we worry what is left about this building.”
And with that said Berwyn went of the find the heaters and other supplies. Hopefully Carmim would have understood the message, or at least didn’t caused any further problems. Berwyn managed to find one of the heaters and some other supplies she could carry in a single run, but it wasn’t going to be enough to make the temporary shelter hospitable. More was needed.
If Carmim went along with Berwyn, she would accompany her to where Chloro waited with the children. Hopefully, that wouldn’t cause further drama. She couldn’t use more of that today. 734 words; 6100 Thread Total Problem Attempted: Orphan Annie Needs a New House (Social 8) Skill Used: Social skill (E) Roll: 4 + 1 = 5 (FAIL)

Vesper managed to wrangle free from the embrace she gave, being cute and embarassed by Momma Moo for the time being. It was adorable when she protested against her public displays of affection, even if she was very affectionate to her and her mother anyway. Making a sappy kissy face at Vesper before laughing, she ruffled the girls hair and smiled. "But I'm special and I get to hug you whenever I want, I am Momma Moo after all." A wink followed as she continued to drink, humming as she sipped her delicious beverage. As for the next question, Aladriel kept quiet for a moment before looking at her and nodding. "Of course I want you to help. You're a really good backup singer, and I think it could be a big break for you and your mater. You two deserve it. Plus, it would be a really good idea for album covers with me and you in it. They'll love you."
She accepted the cheek kiss from Midnight when she returned and began her counter offer. Her smile only grew until Vesper cut her off, surprising herself as well. Annnnndddd cock blocked. Or clam jammed, whatever. She couldn't believe it! After ten years of no action with the beauty, only to get blocked by Vesper! She wanted to pout but she just sighed and chuckled, leaning in and kissing Midnight's cheek again before giving a sly wink out of view. "It's fine, I'll sleep on the sofa. I'm probably too big for your bed Vespie, I'm pretty big after all." She finished off her drink and got another, continuing her drinking as she listened to the proposal to make some announcement to deal with the outcry from this Great Grin company. Sounded like a bunch of assholes to her but she found the video posted by Vesper on her scroll a few moments after, mainly because she was tagged with her #NOIR as well as directly tagged to her @aladrielnoir account.
She had a few, so it didn't take too long to log into her main account and also post a comment on said video before anyone else to confirm it. "All of us that are placed on this world are here for a good time, and those at @heavensgatebar certainly had a good time! Will be returning for more performances in the near future! #OneDistrict #Unity" "There! That looks good, although it'll bring even more fans in... you sure you can handle it till you close dears?" She asked the question between the two of them, raising her eyebrow inquisitively before turning to the rest of the bar. Would she need to continue perform for now? She would definitely be tired afterwards, but would it be worth it... she'd have to see. Words: 464/3558

It felt like she had been doing nothing but running around since this nonsense started and it was starting to wear her out. She could run for a pretty long time, but between the distance she had to move and that she often had to move at top speed, she was starting to feel the effects. A cool glass of water (or some hot chocolate now that she thought about it) would go a long way. Normally grabbing the toys on the way to the kids that were trying to dismantle them would be simple, but now she was starting to feel weighed down by something as light as toys. She started panting and had to slow down a little bit. Her heart already felt like it wanted to explode from working up the courage to talk to Nina and this was not helping.
Unfortunately, her approach was fairly obvious since this was such an open area, so the kids noticed her and ran themselves, making this far more difficult than this needed to be. They took the toys they were dismantling with them, presumably so they could keep at it. Her expression flattened, and she sighed. It wouldn't be too hard to go after them, and she was bound to catch up with them eventually. Even if they tried to be sneaky and weave through buildings, that wouldn't do anything to slow her down. Having to make sure the toys didn't blow up in her jacket definitely did though.
Rather than chase after them immediately, she jogged back over to Alina, still breathing heavily, and started gently setting the toys down next to her. The toys would be safer around areas with eyes on them. Even if Alina was moving around a little bit, there were enough people here and in the surrounding areas, and she doubted Alina would get too far before she caught up to the kids.
"I'm going to go after those kids and see about cleaning up. Can you keep an eye on these? Thanks!"
She didn't actually wait for an answer before sprinting off again. There wasn't time. It was impossible to know if those toys would explode, or when. Or even what those kids might do with explosives. Every second counted, and even if Alina didn't keep her eyes glued to the toys, that was still better than nothing.

Bobbing and weaving through the hail of shoots emerging from the great pile, I made a slow but consistent approach towards the current hazard endangering this small street.
One of the toy soldiers got his small, plastic eyes on me. And was cutting my every attempt at approaching. They were small toys, but the weapons were real, even if they sometimes needed two or three persons to operate every one of them.
Wich only made their aim a little worse, as more of the toys kept shutting down with every passing minute. Likely a product of the EMP that had been set off a little while ago. But that didn’t make the truck on top any less dangerous, even if it turned into an inanimate object.
Grabbing a slab of rock from the floor, I fashioned myself a shield to protect me from impacts. For the time being. I made sure of superposing two layers in my shield. One entirely solid for the inner part, and another softer one, on the outside, so the bullets wouldn’t ricochet off me and hit someone else or the pile.
By doing this, I managed to approach well enough up to a point it became clear I would need to discard the shield to keep moving and start climbing the small tower.
In doing so, a good amount of bullets grazed me, and more than a couple squarely hit me all around the body. My aura coming forth to provide protection every time.
But this didn’t mean I was able to keep my balance at all. I was standing over an unstable surface while being pushed back by the occasional shot that landed on me. This meant that sooner rather than later, I ended up falling on my ass and losing a little of the ground I had managed to conquer.
I tried using my semblance to propel myself to the top, but this only caused all the toys to focus fire on their new airborne target. Which again launched me back where I had been.
Trying to think of a solution, I limited myself to focus on dodging for the time being. Analyzing what would be the best course of action to solve this mess.
At the very least, I was proving to be more than an adequate distraction. With any luck, someone else would come here and finish the job from the other side.
And speaking of which, I managed to catch a glimpse of a certain someone while I was in the air. A tall, white-haired snake faunus that had already proven himself more than useful when we had been deployed in Kerch.
I doubted the toys had voice recognition or could understand our language at all. So as I was busy not being turned into a wheel of gruyere, I let out a warning scream towards the boy.

The noble warrior stood, and the people looked to her.
For she was a beacon - hope given form, yet still only human. Within that truth there was great promise. If one could stand against the night, then so too could anyone - everyone.
In her hand the warrior held a Rose. And her aura burned bright.

"And as projected here, the profit margins taper off sharply past 30 AV, barring any unforeseen events of cataclysmic proportions. There are simply not enough of a client base to support the continued purchase of firearms and defense systems at the prices we are setting. Cutting costs anywhere along the production line means putting out a subpar product. Raising prices means diminishing the consumer base even faster than my projections. Further detail on the projected plateau of purchasing ability can be found on page thirty two of my report, which can be accessed from your Scrolls through B-Drive..."
When the meeting finally finished, Erytheia kept herself the very picture of unconcerned decorum until the door had shut behind the last man, before exhaling an exhausted breath and slumping in her chair. All things considered, she had expected worse, but that didn't mean that everything had gone off without a hitch. The discussion of profit and the bottom line, if nothing else, had gone over well. Everyone wanted a larger slice of the pie, but at least they were smart enough to realize that taking a smaller slice for now in favor of a larger pie would benefit them more in the long run. If nothing else, the Hellebore board of directors had intelligence. A pity that so much of their empathy seemed to have faded in order to achieve that. Financing the conversion of a trial run at one of the minor factories on the outskirts was far more difficult than it should have been, but she had pulled through. Barely, at the very least.
Her Scroll buzzed. The Hellebore heiress blinked quietly, then picked it up and answered the call.
"Fern? It is rare that I receive-"
A pause. She didn't continue to speak, instead waiting quietly as her eyes widened for a few moments before composing herself. It took a moment longer than usual, but she was back to planning and thinking shortly after.
"No. Belay that. I want HellSec search and rescue teams on the ground as soon as possible. You - you are? Good, that will save us some time. Break open warehouse three from the Ground District supply - you know the one, HellSec surplus. Distribute anything that isn't military grade for civilian use - I can spin it off as a public relations stunt later."
Picking up her cloak from where it was draped over a chair, she wrapped it about her shoulders, standing and striding out of the room immediately, still dressed in the black and white suit she'd worn to the meeting.
"I am on my way."
The limousine pulled up not far away from where the ruined orphanage was, all black gleam and cool silver polish, but the way Erytheia all but slammed the door open and stepped out was anything but cold. Hurrying her way along, she made an immediate beeline towards the easily visible Haven student in view, her eyes flickering about the site for bodies. There were none, thankfully, and she turned her attention to Berwyn, red eyes looking up to the taller woman with concern.
"I am aware of the situation," she said quickly, so that the other didn't waste time bringing her up to speed. One hand gestured to the car, large enough to ferry a dozen people - more, if they huddled together.
"I have lodgings nearby - worker dormitories in my name. They are not luxurious, but there is running water and electricity, and enough beds for everyone, even if we have to make several trips. Where are the children? Are there any injured?"

I know you got hate in you. Most do. Trick is to use it, 'stead of it usin' you.
But you know this. Vengeance is a motivator, not the motive. Don't hunt 'em 'cause you been wronged. Hunt 'em 'cause what they did was wrong. There's a world of difference there, kid. One makes you selfish. The other makes you a hero.
And I see a hero in you.

"Not enough!"
At some point, Argent had to wonder - who had been the one to tape those blades to the cars? The nefarious masterminds behind this toy invasion themselves, strapping lawn mower blades and kitchen knives to the cars? Or had the toys done it themselves? Who thought it was a good idea? Who'd been the one to go through with it?
And which bastard had the first thought that a knife wasn't enough?
Staring grimly at the toy cars even now racing after him with glowing red thousand degree knives, hydraulic rams, and in one case what appeared to be a tuba that spat concentrated marbles of Dust not dissimilar to those that Professor Shadecloak used in her own weaponry, Argent clambered up the nearest lamp pole and leapt off towards the wall of a nearby building, hanging from the windowsill with one hand as he tried to formulate a plan of attack. The toys milled about below him - reaching up and over, the Snake Faunus bit back a curse when his second hand brushed up against iron bars meant to prevent incursion. So much for an alternate route.
Well, the good news was that the soldiers on the mound weren't firing in his direction, at least. The bad news, of course, was that he couldn't drop to the ground due to the sheer amount of remote controlled cars swarming beneath him like some demented Grimm horde.
Argent paused.
Was that a chainsaw? On a toy car?
This night just got weirder and weirder. Hissing through his teeth, the snake Faunus cast his eyes about, looking for a way to escape his current predicament and get back into the fight.

Now that her shirt was no longer filled with potential explosives, she was free to run again. Or at least as fast as she could manage while this tired, but even that was several times faster than the average person. The kids trying to nab some potential bombs got a head start, and she'd need a moment to track them down, but she was pretty sure she'd catch up to them eventually. She could hear the sound of loud footsteps, likely someone running, not too far up ahead. All she had to do was pump her arms and get there.
Except apparently it was someone else running. Sienna had to stop suddenly when she came across a huge pile of flammable objects not too far away from a weapon store, and a toy with some sparklers. Her stop was sudden enough that she slid face first on the ground, scraping up her palms, knees, and chin. Even then, her nose came into contact with some fireworks as she slowed to a stop. Her eyes widened and a bead of sweat dripped down her forehead once she realized that she very nearly knocked the whole thing over. She didn't dare even breathe until she was certain she came to a complete stop, then slowly backed up and stood back up before letting out that breath.
Once again, all she could do was stare. Why was anything surprising anymore?
"What the fuck?"
Shaking her head, she ran her hand through her hair and looked around. Those kids were nowhere to be found and she was clearly chasing the wrong sounds. Leaving this issue to the people running around was hard, but she couldn't let people try and take those toys. Gritting her teeth, she grabbed the one nearby civilian she saw and tried to pull her onto her back. The least she could do was clear the area of people that couldn't take an explosion to the face so the others could work more freely. It'd slow her down, more than usual because of how tired she was, but it was the best compromise she could think of. She gave the two in the area a nod and then ran off, trying to track down those kids again.
Man, she just wanted some hot chocolate.

The bombs that Sienna had deposited were picked up and stuffed in the inside of her suit, probably the safest place for them at the moment. If they exploded there, her aura would contain both the blast and the shrapnel from hitting anyone else by reinforcing the fabric of the suit itself. She closed her eyes and rubbed at her temples for a few seconds, going through her options in her head. [break][break]
The EMP had shut off all electronics in the area successfully, so getting another shot at cameras was pointless. Her radio was no longer receiving signals, so she wasn’t getting any updates on anything happening anywhere else in the district. This meant that she didn’t know if it was universally effective, or just in the immediate area of the center. She also didn’t know if one of the many Haven trainees was tweaking out and murdering all innocent bystanders, which was another thing that was a legitimate concern these days. [break][break]
Oh well. She just had to trust that her people would defend themselves if necessary and evacuate people where they could. Alina just needed to focus, focus and think about actions she could actually take. She wasn’t fast, but the bombs were the most pressing matter at the moment by far. Idiots getting their hands on them would cause the most death moving forward, as well as idiots thinking the danger was over and destroying the toys with bombs inside of them. [break][break]
That was the most important thing right now, so she just walked around the district and barked at people to get away from the damned things and gathered all the ones she could in a central location. She was even able to get some of the people around her to help after she made them aware of the risk, but they were only able to make any difference in the area immediately around the center. It wasn’t solving the problem, but it was mitigating damage in case Sienna and Russet couldn’t actually solve it in time. With so many toys spread out over such a large area, the wolf faunus didn’t have high hopes of no fatalities but she could do her part to lower those numbers. Preventing loss of life was valuable, and spreading the word around at least prevented the people around her from being idiots themselves once they understood the risks… ideally. [break][break]
At the end of the day, the best she could do is spread information… but some people even when confronted with information would just ignore it, think they knew better, and get themselves exploded anyway. That was unavoidable and ultimately not her problem, as she quickly learned when she had to slap the toy out of some teenage boy’s hands as she was trying to warn him about the damned bomb. Stupidity given the opportunity to weaponize was one of the biggest threats to her community at this point, and it frustrated her to no end. [break][break]

HAVE YOU SEEN HER? HAVE YOU HEARD? THE WAY SHE MOVES, THERE ARE NO WORDS
She heard Berwyn approach long before she saw the giantess. Not that it stopped her from continuing her task- she'd broken the wall, she was going to fix it, so that at least it'd keep the cold out while she went to work on the support beams. It had seemed like reasonable priorities to her, at least, especially since this was only going to be a temporary fix until the morning anyways.
Berwyn had other ideas, though. Which annoyed Carmim a little bit, even in spite of the other girl's less hostile demeanor, this go around. It did give her pause, though, as she realized this was apparently an orphanage.
Which.
Only slightly helped. Carmim knew what an orphanage was, in theory, especially thanks to some of Holly's rambling on the subject, but she wasn't entirely sure of the context involved in her blowing a hole in one. She'd made sure there weren't any civilians in the way before she fired her Semblance. In theory, it had gone pretty smoothly! She'd very efficiently cleared the hallway, even though she still wasn't entirely sure why Berwyn and Chloro needed it cleared in the first place. And she was fixing the building, so it wasn't like she had just planned on leaving it in ruins. Also, it was already burned up and damaged when she'd gotten there!
Maybe they should have said something to try and stop her before she used her Semblance!
She did stop working, though, as Berwyn offered her an alternative idea. It made sense, at least- it was pretty cold out, so the orphans had to go somewhere warm. Though she didn't understand why Berwyn and Chloro couldn't just leave them somewhere safe for a bit, come help her repair the building, and then go get them.
The building could still be fixed- and she intended to fix it, when she could get around to finding proper lumber and tools. There was no need to just abandon it outright. Wouldn't have even taken that long to fix, honestly.
"Okay. I do want to help. I am sorry for making a hole in t'e wall, I was just trying to help clear t'e rubble away quickly so t'at we could go help ot'er people, instead of a building t'at was empty and burned up." She set the wood in her hands down and set about looking for blankets and other things that could help warm the orphans up, but she didn't have to look for long before the cavalry arrived- in the form of a limo, with Erytheia at the helm.
Or well, behind the helm. She had one of those fancy limo drivers probably.
She listened to Theia speak, and nodded along at the idea of putting them in a fancy warehouse where she could take care of them. Theia was very smart and rich and she was a kind and nice person, so she would probably do a really good job watching the orphans, which made Carmim feel a little better. "Oh! T'ank you so much, T'eia! Berwyn has t'em somewhere else right now, she can show you where t'ey are. And I guess if you have t'is covered, I will go back to fixing t'is building, t'en."
Good.
Seemed like everything was working out alright. Though she did have a really weird feeling in her gut. She kinda felt bad for making things worse. But wasn't she doing what she was supposed to do? Huntresses act. They do stuff. What they think is right! Was she supposed to just stand there and twiddle her thumbs and wait until another Qiu'li showed up to eat the orphans, or kick a puppy or something? No!
That would be terrible, and irresponsible.
She frowned as she set about getting back to work on the walls, since she doubted she was especially needed in getting a bunch of kids from one place to another, now that Theia and her people were there, in addition to Berwyn and Chloro.
But suddenly, a series of loud noises caught her ear from further out in the district. Noises which sounded pretty bad. She decided the building could wait, and ran off to investigate.
And once she got there, she found a whole cluster of people, including Argent and Bianca, and briefly, Sienna, before she ran off again. The scene before her was definitely intense- it reminded her of Holly, just a month ago...
A massive pile of explosives, and a toy carrying some fireworks?
Who would put those there! That was horrible!
She made sure to stand as far back as she could from the explosives, just in case, as she took careful aim at the sparkler-wielding bomber...
And...
...
She couldn't fire.
She grimaced in annoyance, but the fact was, this thing was way too close to the pile already, and if she blasted it away, there was a good chance that it would just set off the bombs anyways. And she didn't want to risk trying to blow the bombs away either. So all she could do was stand there and hope for a better angle to present itself...
The truck king glowered down at her menacingly, with its soul-piercing headlight stare.
She would not best him, this day.

It didn't seem like things were growing too out of hand here. In fact, for the most part, Rose was having a fucking blast! Crazy killer toys running amok and explosions everywhere? This really was Christmas! Hell yeah! The blonde was slowly picking up speed with the toy trucks and would have totally wiped them out if they hadn't have been dealt with already! Whirling on Argent with a snarl, she barked loudly.
"My WEIGHT! Are ya callin' me FAT, ya god damn SNAKE!? Yer lucky I'm in a good mood or I'd kick yer stupid fuckin' ASS!"
Though her companion was in full on hero mode at the moment, worrying about the lives of the damn people rather than Rose's own problem of finding a gift for Fable.
"Stand by? Are ya serious!? You go off an' be a hero while I- Ah Fuck...there he goes...what the hell."
Rose glanced around the district to get a lay of the land, only half paying attention to the voice booming above her. She could care less if some little shits blew their arms off, but the idea of setting up an EMP sounded pretty dope. So she shrugged and started to dash off in the direction of the center square. Argent could handle his own mess...Rose was just looking for some fun!
Shouting was echoing off the beaten path which made Rose raise a brow of curiosity. The hell was going on? She swerved down an alley way and stopped near the edge, peaking out into the light slightly. A bunch of gremlins were fiddling around with some dicey explosives like they were tinker toys...while the thought of watching the pukes erupt in a bloody mess of screeching gore...she-Rose...well...AH Fuck it!
"Damn it! Why do I even GIVE a shit!?"
Swearing angrily under her breath, Rose tightened her grip on the handle of her sword to focus her mind. She concentrated on her shaking body freezing in the cold bitter weather, building up adrenaline slowly as if boiling it to the surface.
The lightning swirled around her as she jogged out from the alley and shot like a bullet straight for the children. Before they could react to her, Rose sprinted in a circle around them and kicked up a small flurry of snow all about them! A mini blizzard sparked up, distracting them happily with their short ass attention spans, and they dropped the explosive to play in the makeshift snowglobe.
Rose hit the brakes hard the moment that they let go and blasted straight for the kids, scooping them up and launching out of the small vortex to get the brats to safety. After a short sprint, she plopped them down unceremoniously as if they were bags of garbage. Disappointed, unamused garbage. But just as they started to pout, Rose withdrew Rebellion from it's sheath and grinned maniacally at them.
"Hey kids! Wanna see somethin' tight?"
Rose pulled her sword arm back and slammed the weapon down on the ground in the direction of the waning tornado, clicking the activator on the hilt, and sending a beam of fiery electric dust forward. It collided with the contained explosives and triggered the unstable weapons to erupt in an explosion that blew all of the snow up and out onto the district! A huge avalanche launched up into the air and came down hard like a snowy tsunami to overtake the road, washing over everything in it's wake.
Giving the kids a wink, Rose raced the wave of snow and jumped up into it. She slid the sword below her feet and rode it down the district like a snowboard in the direction of the airship. Chances were that the bastard responsible for this lame Holiday was up there and Rose had some choice words to say to the prick.

But all I see is gray❞

She was happy that she could help, even if her contribution was small. The girls around her all broke into action like superheroes and it was so incredibly awe inspiring! Hinata ran over to the edge of the rooftop and clapped in excitement to see them rushing off with the metal rods in hand to save the day!
"Wow! How cool is that!?"
Although, now she was sort of stuck on the roof of a building and the idea of climbing down the fire escape was way too scary! But then again the endorphins in her brain were firing on all cylinders and the girl was pumped! Maybe she could it? She did need to get back to the bar and check up on the girls after all!
She smacked both sides of her face with determination and nodded, whirling around on her heel and stomping toward the rusted fire escape. Yet, just as she climbed down the long ladder, there came a roaring sound.
"Eh? What is...eeehhhh!?"
Hinata's eyes widened as she stared down the street and saw a wave of white...stuff coming towards her. Fear gripped her tightly against the ladder and she gasped at the sight of a blonde woman riding the wave with a crazed look in her eyes! Hinata lost her grip and fell backwards, swinging her arms out wildly while falling to her demise with a shriek of terror!
"Ah for FUCK sake!"
A hand seized hers tightly and Hinata was tugged along in the wave of snow! The blonde yanked her up and Hinata promptly climbed onto her shoulders in a panic.
"What...what are you doing!? This-this is--!"
"Aiming for the shithead responsible for this mess! Up there!"
Hinata glanced up at the ship that was drawing near and shivered. Fear was gripping her, but she shut her eyes for a moment before very slowly nodding. They opened solemnly and took light into the amber orbs, forming a halo of light around her head. She delicately reached her hand out and formed a board of light in front of Rose, climbing onto it carefully.
"Can you get us up there? I will have a talk with this Mr. Greene. I am trusting you...um..."
The blonde smirked widely, balancing on the board like a proper surfboard and brandishing her sword to the side.
"Rose! You got it, girlie! Hold on tight! I'm aimin' for that window! Try not ta get all cut up, y'hear?"
She shoved the blade down into the wave and sent a terrifying blast of energy into the shook Hinata to the core and sent the two of the hurtling into the air like a missile right at the airship's cockpit window! In a panic, Hinata threw out a beam of light that smashed the glass and the two tumbled into the main room.
Hinata flopped like a fish awkwardly while Rose tucked into an expert roll, sword held at the ready. Standing at the controls of the ship was a burly old man with a scraggly beard who had a look of panic on his face.
"Oh MAH GOD! What is the meaning of this!?"
Hinata stood up, clutching her arm and leaning against Rose for support.
"The EMP. It is not strong enough. The toys..."
"The damn things're still killing fools down there! Ya gotta set this friggin' thing to overload! Blow all them explosive fuckers sky high!"
Gordon looked hesitant as he turned to the controls, then back at the girls, and then down at the ground.
"This was all my fault. So many got hurt...because of me. It's over! My company is ruined and...all those poor children..."
Hinata gently pushed off of Rose and approached Gordon, resting her hand on his shoulder with a gentle smile.
"So make it right. Save those who still can be saved, Mister Greene. And do what you can for the Ground District. Your company may go bye bye, but you can still do some good."
He grit his teeth as he looked into Hinata's eyes...and nodded. The old man turned toward the console and cranked a dial, overloading the EMP device to maximum. The ship rumbled violently as the energy built up and would send a shockwave across the Ground District that would fry the explosive chips inside of the toys and finally bring an end to this awful day.

Sadly, neither Argent’s efforts nor mine’s were enough to manage to snatch the motherfucker from his high castle. Who still loomed threateningly over us, if he had a face. I was sure an expression of contempt and superiority would be practically dripping from his façade.
I tried to reach him again, this time erecting a platform for me to climb into and make a jump towards the truck. But a couple bullets hit the whole structure, ricocheting out of it and hitting dangerously close to the death pile.
Once I noticed this, I jumped out and let the whole thing break down by its own weight. That wouldn’t work.
I considered using the same tactic, but with a slightly different approach. I tried for a softer platform where bullets would sink in instead of bouncing off. But when I went to try and climb it, the construct didn’t support my weight, and I had to jump down again.
All the while, Argent seemed like he was surrounded by a small raid force of toys carrying bladed weaponry of all kinds and... Was that a chainsaw? Fuck, this was slowly crossing over to horror flick territory.
Anyway. The end result was that Argent couldn’t do much either. He nevertheless tried. And probably would have managed to get a good one eventually. But as for now, the results were the same as mine.
A hail of bullets suddenly found my body once Argent had his own problems to deal with. The snake faunus had managed to buy a couple seconds for me, but it hadn’t been enough.
Frowning from the pain, I dove behind a small fence to get as much cover as I could. At least until I managed to find a way to solve this.
Sadly, this expected master plan never came to me. I was in checkmate.
If I tried to jump, I would get swatter out the air. If I went with using platforms, I would set the whole thing off myself. If I attempted using projectiles, I could just as easily tip the truck, and it was game over.
I needed to do something. I couldn’t stay hidden doing absolutely nothing else. If so, why the fuck was I here in the first place? Gritting my teeth, I took one last look towards the truck king before deciding enough was enough and cutting my losses.
-Fuck... Argent! I’m evacuating as many civilians as I can!- I shouted toward my schoolmate. Giving a small salute before running towards the nearest building. I hoped he would be fine, but I couldn’t stay to make sure of this. He had training. He could get out of there if pressed.
I started throwing stones at all the surrounding windows and doors. Completely uncaring about the material damage a couple broken windows could mean when there was an explosion threatening to go off nearby.
Maybe some snow getting into their homes would convince whoever was still around to fuck off to a safer zone.
I ran through the periphery of the site. I hoped most people would have evacuated already, considering the noise coming from the heavy amount of live fire being spit out of that pile.
But I didn’t put it beyond some people to simply hear the gunshots and go hide under their beds or something. It was a reasonable response. One many civilians had been unconsciously trained to follow when danger was ready.
But right now, ironically, staying calm wouldn't help very much. Grabbing a big pile of dirt, I hardened and started slamming it against the walls of as many buildings as I could.
I wasn’t trying to tear down the walls, but to call the fuckers attention so they would notice what was going on and get the hell out of dodge.
-Evacuate! Evacuate! Run the fuck out of here!- I screamed as I went on literally knocking at their buildings with my semblance. Doing so while following simple rhythmic patterns so they would hopefully understand it was not a stray rock that had crashed into their homes. But a deliberate message from the outside.
-Evacuate and tell your fucking neighbors!- I yelled at a young couple who peeked out from a nearby window. They took one good look at the pile of death behind me and got themselves to do just that.
Holly shit. What were they doing lingering still? This was madness. Did these people have no sense of self-preservation? I knew wouldn’t manage to get them all out in time. I knew it very well. Something like that would be a miracle. But still, I needed to try, if I could at least get one more of them to get out!
Panting heavily, I looked all around me, Carmim had come, but she didn’t dare take a shot against the pile. And I didn’t blame her for it. It could be a legitimate strategy and scatter all the explosives far away from the king, minimizing the damage overall. But it could just as easily cause one of the sparklers to fall off and set the whole thing live.
I think I also saw Powehi running around, rescuing people. But I paid her no mind. She was a smart girl. She didn’t need any kind of direction or instructions to realize the fucked up situation we were in.
Same deal with Argent. Whether he wanted to keep trying or help with evacuation, I trusted my Kerch Captain’s judgment as much, or even more than my own.
I was no expert in explosives to determine exactly how much damage would that thing do. Or roughly how much could the houses endure. But I didn’t want to take any chances with it.
So I would also run deeper into the streets, warning people as best as I could and hoping some charitable souls would do the same with their neighbors and friends.
I wasn’t fast. That was the problem. Someone better at covering long distances like Ryan or Kishka could have done this much better than me. But sadly, I was neither of those persons.
So I just kept going, to the best of my abilities, beyond the point of exhaustion. If I could save one more person, I would be happy. If I could avoid just a single man or woman from getting hurt from this. It would all be worth it.
This was my job. I had signed up for this with my literal life, and damn it! I was going to do it!
The cold snow bit at my ankles, slowing me down further with every step I gave. My clothes bothered me, so I took out my cape, staying only in my tunic. I felt my legs give up under me, and I fell face-first into the snow.
I yet had an aura. I could still go on. Fuck the cold, fuck the tiredness, and fuck my own weakness ten times over. I covered my limbs with rock and forced the fuckers to obey me like I was controlling a puppet. One second later, I was already back on the move.
For once, I hoped that being a stubborn, good for nothing, noisy hassle would be enough. Enough for what? Fuck if I know, but I hoper nonetheless.
Unbeknownst to me, the EMP had already been set to maximum power, and the toys were likely dead and gone. But this didn't mean the pile of explosives wasn't just there, waiting for the truck to fall or for any motherfucker to set it off. So I would have kept going nevertheless. But at least it means there was a higher chance for someone else to come and solve that out... I mean, at least I could dream, right?

I know you got hate in you. Most do. Trick is to use it, 'stead of it usin' you.
But you know this. Vengeance is a motivator, not the motive. Don't hunt 'em 'cause you been wronged. Hunt 'em 'cause what they did was wrong. There's a world of difference there, kid. One makes you selfish. The other makes you a hero.
And I see a hero in you.

Failing to do something when you made the effort to succeed never felt good, even more so when there were lives on the line. It was something he could attest to with confidence - his operations ledger, after all, was spotted with multiple missions where he hadn't managed to perform to full capacity. Rochdale had been the worst, but by no means was it the only one. That being said, there was enough time to reflect on how he could improve when the current crisis was over. Grunting with the effort, Argent pulled himself up, taking the weight off of his feet and letting them rest on the windowsill he'd been hanging from while he looked around. There wasn't much of anything he could use from here. No convenient flower pots or clothes hangars he could grab and use as projectiles, and he wasn't near strong enough to tear open the iron bars like some other students could.
The street across had a cafe further down, hastily abandoned - lights still shone brightly from within, and wisps of steam still rose from cups of coffee and tea left outside in the chill winter air. What caught his attention wasn't the food however, but the cutlery - knives and forks, still sitting out on the tables where the patrons had left in a hurry. Easy ammunition, and more aerodynamic than the rubble and debris he'd been using up to that point. That being said, however, there was still the small issue of the toys gathering about twenty feet below him, still holding their little blades and-
Argent paused.
No, the cutlery wasn't the only weaponry available to him. In fact, there was a lot more around him than he'd thought. It just needed a little careful application of force.
Taking a breath, the snake Faunus held it for a moment, steeled himself for what was to come, and then stepped off the ledge. As he did so, the metal-reinforced soles of his boots glowed the distinct silver of his Semblance, and he accelerated downwards, much faster than gravity would have allowed - smashing into and crushing a red truck into its component pieces. Dropping low, he spun into a leg sweep, clearing a small circle around him before the toys could react.
It was a little move he'd learned from the former leader of Class Green himself. Deraine had been strong, but not particular fast - he resolved that particular issue by using his control over his armor to drag his body around the battlefield at high speeds. It worked fine for him, considering his aura was significantly more durable than the snake Faunus' own - but trying to replicate the same moves in controlled conditions had resulted in Argent breaking his own Aura due to the forces needed to move someone at such high speeds. That didn't mean he couldn't apply the knowledge learnt from it, however - much like Fox, Deraine used his Semblance to enhance the impact of the blows of his weapons, regardless of whether he had them in hand or not. That knowledge was what he used now, using his own armored boots to tear through the mass of plastic surrounding him with enough force to shred the toys apart like the cheap products they were.
It didn't come without a cost, however - he could feel his Aura flexing, strongly enough to know even without looking at his Scroll that he'd lost more than a third of it to his little maneuver. That being said, he'd gotten space enough to move - and weapons too. It was a simple matter to kick the fallen blades up and into his hands, turning what had once been the weapons of the enemy into his own ammunition. Within moments, Whisper had torn through the remaining swarm of toy cars, and he could take a moment to breathe.
Bianca had fended off her own assailants, and she shouted over, conveying her plans to evacuate the civilians from the area. That was a good idea - he'd seen someone run past earlier, though he'd been focused on other matters at the time.
"Good call!" he shouted back, turning his attention back to the pile. With the majority of the defenders cleared from it, it was much easier to approach now than it had been earlier, but the danger still remained - especially from the sparking fuse of the truck atop the pile. He still didn't dare to take the shot - but there was still something else he could do. Using whatever pieces of the nearby scenery were large enough, the snake Faunus started shoveling as much of the snowdrifts as he could gather into large piles near the mound. As soon as the fuse started to burn down into the explosive material, he would use his Semblance to send the entire batch of snow into it as a last ditch attempt to dampen the amount of material that would go off at once.
It might not amount to anything, but he wouldn't let this thing go off without at least trying to stop it.
