When the kid approached the gangsters and stopped between them and him, Escarlata was sharp enough to understand the little signal she threw his way. And, after silently putting the safety on, he settled for letting her whatever the hell she was about to do.
He could only look in silent awe through the fight. He was so awestruck that, when that thug threatened to kill that poor man, he was only snapped out it by the thug's scream after something shattered his hand.
Escarlata saw a speck of dirt fall from said hand... And his minds connected the dots.
Slowly stepping away from the kid, he couldn't help but feel his trigger finger twitch ever so slightly due to this newfound information.
She was far more dangerous than her appearance would let on. And he didn't like that. Unknowns get people killed. And until now, he had been dealing with a massive one.
Slinging his rifle across his back, Escarlata slowly approached the girl as she spoke. But couldn't help but recoil slightly after seeing the... bizarre, scene that suddenly unfolded before him.
Looking at the toys and RC truck speeding away, Escarlata's eyes widened at the scene.
"What in the actual fuck..." Looking at the toys disappearing in the distance, Escarlata turned towards Bianca with a raised eyebrow. "No, kid, your eyes are not lying to you." He was about to turn towards the smoke until Bianca's comment reached her ears.
"You are missing what?!" His body stiffened at the mention of grenades. "Why are you carrying grenades in the first place, kid!? Were you hunting Grimm or preparing to fight off bandits?!"
He shook his head. "Nevermind, even if they're carrying grenades, they're too far away now," He turned towards the smoke. And, after a quick scanning of his surroundings, finally realized how he could reach it promptly. "Let's focus on the smoke, for now, kid. Try to find a route through the ground, I'll take the fast lane."
Tightening the straps of his rifle, he quickly approached a nearby building and deftly climbed it. Once on top, he looked around for the origin of the smoke, and, once he spotted it, he quickly made his way through the rooftops until reaching a vantage point.
And couldn't believe his eyes.
A bunch of toys was doing some sort of... tribal dancing (?) around a couple burning tires on the middle of the street.
He was just flabbergasted and beyond confused at the sight. Slowly tracing the smoke upwards with his gze, his mind could only wonder how long it would take for someone to also be attracted to the increasingly higher trail.
His eyes then turned to the toys once again.
Just what kind of fucking joke was this? WC: 456/1,461

❝Show me colors of the sky,
But all I see is gray❞

Things were SO not cool right now! The darned avocado was blaring nonstop and for her trouble Hinata's hair was soaked in alcohol! The expensive kind too, literal top shelf liquor reserved for the rare high roller. She was miffed, to say the least...and worse yet, the pink haired professional was walking out of the door! Hinata took a step forward when the fire alarm was suddenly pulled by Vesper's mama, forcing the vast majority of the patrons to leave the bar.
Well, I suppose that does put collateral damage to a minimum. Even if the alarm is mostly for show...but still, that stupid toy! UGH! Vesper, I swear to GOD!
With this much noise going on all about her, Hinata was having a frustrating time thinking. Was the place intact? Did anything get looted? God, would someone just shut that stupid toy UP!?
One of the regulars made her way in...one Aladriel. Hinata didn't talk with the woman very often when she came in to relax and usually deferred her to Vesper. There wasn't anything wrong with the Faunus, but she tended to make Hina nervous with her confidence. But today? She was more than a welcome sight as she approached the toy. Woohoo! Yes! Blow that thing away with...your...shotgun.
"NO WAIT! PLEASE DO NOT!"
Bang! Hinata shut her eyes tight and visibly cringed at the ear piercing blast, crying slightly at the horribly violent assault. But...well, at least it was over right? Hinata hesitantly opened her eyes and just as she was about to thank Aladriel...she saw two torn holes in the wooden floor from the buckshot and the cow holding the toy awkwardly.
-_-
Hinata could feel her blood boil to the surface at this point. She didn't get angry often, but yeah okay she was starting to get mad. The night was quiet, everyone was having a good time, and she was even talking to a cute girl who HAPPENED to be a professional singer and dancer. And now there were HOLES IN HER BAR! Momma was going to be so furious when she came back from her Holiday party...oh dear oh my...
Why, hello there other shoe! Are you about to drop? YUP! Because of course wherever Aladriel went, her fans followed! They were trying to get RID of these people so, standing in the middle of the common room, Hinata leveled her gaze at the fans. She shut her eyes and took in a deep breath to focus her thoughts. Everyone needed to leave and the bar needed to close. Control...calm...peace.
The noise was no longer a bother to her and neither were the gunshots. Hinata clasped her hands together against her chest and breathed a very slow, deep breath out as her amber eyes fluttered open. She set her gaze firmly upon the pink haired girl who had revealed her name to be Kimmie and Hinata confidently strutted directly toward her and her new fans.
She pulled her hand back and swung, giving the girl a resounding slap to her ass that caused the crowd to cease their crowding of the girl. Still holding tight to Kimmie's butt, the brunette eased the both of them through the doorway and out into the street.
"She is a Maiden, one of MY band members and you will treat her with the respect that you owe me."
A group was forming in front of the bar as a mix between the drunk patrons and the weird fans. All of them were now looking at Hinata who gave Kimmie a final tight squeeze before letting her go...spinning around to find a wooden crate that was resting near the doorway. The small girl kicked it out harshly and stood upon it, front and center with a stern look of conviction upon her face.
"I apologize sincerely for the inconvenience that we have caused you tonight. Please, as recompense, gather around and I will treat you all to a song."
Some of the crowd who weren't in the know snickered at her, but those who were regulars hushed them immediately. It had been some time since Hinata had performed, being far too busy with the holiday season. But today was her time to shine...to protect Kimmie from this mob with her talent.
She breathed in, feeling the muse take over...and then looked out to the crowd with a warm smile. And then, the girl began to sing.
As she let the music wash over the crowd, Hinata glanced at Kimmie with an even wider smile. Holding her hand out as if to invite her up onto the box with her, Hinata picked up the octave in her voice to hype the crowd up even more! They all stopped their shouting and screaming...and just listened. Some couples held each other, some were smiling, and some were so inspired that they were on the verge of tears. But the general feeling was of love and peace.
As she brought the song to an end, Hinata laughed happily to Kimmie as the crowd started to cheer her name merrily.
"Hinata. My name is Hinata and I am a Maiden, Kimmie. Please, join my band!"

This was only going to get worse, right?
What only began with one unfortunate and cute orphanage lady being chewed on by aggressive toy dogs now turned into a full on brawl against pint-sized soldiers. She and Chloro were beginning to be swarmed by overwhelming numbers. Sure, they were toys and their destructive potential seemed to be limited to being an annoyance for them. The kids would not be that lucky.
They didn't have aura protecting them.
Berwyn took her mighty coatrack in her hands and walked over towards Miss Bellflower to try and free her from the gnawing hounds. She kept screaming it out and hit the dogs in vain. She was bleeding and seemed to be in pain, but the dogs also didn't seem to be ripping her legs off. Which was good. Someone or something seemed to given these toys the ability to attack, but they also seemed to be...well, toys.
As Berwyn made her way over, she saw Chloro next to her attack one of the toys and her blade shattered. She also tried to shoot her crossbow at that airship, and it...also broke? The fuck?
If only the mute's blade broke on one of the toys she could maybe think that these toys were just that durable. But a crossbow shouldn't break just after shooting it like that. Unless it was held together by duct-tape and hope. Scratch that, duct-tape would hold anything together.
Chloro was being swarmed without her weapons though, as the toys started to climb the Huntress. Berwyn herself was still toy free. Maybe because Chloro struck the toys and Berwyn did not as of yet? Were they that advanced? Looking around, the kids were most scared and crying and screaming, but she didn't saw any of them bleeding or attacked as of yet? Were the toys truly smart enough to discern who was a threat and who was not? She shouted towards the children just in case. "Kids, stay away from the toys! Get out of this room!" Not all of them listened, of course. Stupid kids. Still, they didn't seem to be in the most danger at the moment.
Not wanting to think they were destroying sentient beings or not, Berwyn tried to free her classmate from the attack. Having the two of them free to fight and not being swarmed was better. Berwyn swung her coatrack near Chloro to get the toys off. She didn't trust herself to go full swinging at the swarmers because Berwyn was quite sure that she would hit and hurt the roguish huntress.
So when Berwyn got one of the toys off, they would just stand up again before trying to climb Chloro again.
In frustration, Berwyn groaned in frustration as she tried to hand Chloro the coatrack to have at least some form of weapon to strike with. "Chloro! It is dangerous to be without a weapon! Take this!"
Within the room, another sound was now heard. The airship that had been flying around the room seemed to not only fly, but also have some other nifty features. A small spotlight fell on Berwyn, before going towards Chloro, and then back to Berwyn. From a speaker built into the toy it gave a message with heavy static. Of course they would cheapskate on the sound quality. "This is the Mistral Police Force!" The Airship blustered as if it had authority. "Lay down your weapons and surrender. You have 10 seconds to comply, or you will be fired upon!"
Well shit...

Puzzling. In the months since coming to Mistral, Kos Mos still couldn’t understand the people's constant need to complain about the weather. Even before the snow had even started to fall, she remembers people saying now chilly it was. It was almost enough to make the stone face woman laugh at the very thought. Remembering Atlas's deadly winters and how easy it was to freeze to death in the ten plus feet of snowfall. She had heard of lately how the main city was inserting dust heaters throughout the city. Something that would have made her childhood a little less scary.
Lost in thought, or more into the mug in front of her, the blue haired woman had zoned out for most of the event around her. People weren’t lying when they said work in the music biz was hell. No one was ever happy with the sound and often messed it up by tricking it more. She was only sticking with it cause she likes the challenge of it all. Also, the pay wasn’t half bad as well. Either way, that all didn’t matter right now. It was the end of the day, and Kos Mos just wanted to enjoy her drink in peace.
Too bad that wouldn’t happen either. For the most part, Kos kelp to herself, watching the snowfall outside the window. The impromptu rap battle had been more enjoyable than she first thought, but she had hoped to hear the bartender sing tonight. It had been one of the main draws to the place since her first time passing by. Good drinks and food, good people if a bit roughly, and good music. It was everything a good bar needed, in Kos Mos's opinion.
However, that peace came to a crashing stop as an ear-piercing screech filled the bar just before a fire alarm went off. Thankfully, the drinks haven’t set in just yet as Kos Mos stood up to look around. Compare to most, she was dress lightly for the snowy weather. Sporting only a light blue jacket over a white dress shirt tucked into a pair of black jeans with matching black boots. Covering her ears, she took a moment to scan the bar. Oddly, she didn’t see any smoke or any fire coming from the back. That sound wasn’t any alarm she ever hears either.
Then she heard it! The blasting of a gun and in that instant Kos Mos had duck low going for her own but snapping out of it. …this isn’t a warzone. Calm down… She told herself, standing back up but never taking of hand off her own gun. It seemed someone, one of the regulars she had seen from time to time, had taken it upon themselves to try and blast something. Well, that was reckless, Kos thought, making her way over to the bar to peek over. Ear still cover she couldn’t hear much of what was happening around her. Just that the sound was much louder from behind the bar.
Was that an Avocado? Kos Mos wasn’t sure what was going on, but it was clear that the toy was its source. Only for a second, Kos Mos's eyes spark to life with lightning before signing. Damn toy and their surge protecting. Which meant she would have to do this the hard way. Kos aimed to pull out her SMG as she still wasn’t fully sure what this thing was and fire. However, some drunk or maybe they were just too into the music, it didn’t matter as they bump into her back, making her shot goes wild. Worst it had meant to be simi-fire but ended up on burst sending a line up the floor and wall.
Pissed Kos Mos elbow the man side pushing him away as she jumped over the bar. Without a pause, Kos Mos quickly made her way over to the toy. She had placed her gun back into its holder, not wanting to spook people any more than was needed instead, with a flick of her waist, she snapped her baton out.
There was no need for aiming or skills as she placed a foot on the toy as if to hold it in place before delivering a hard strike. Then another to the center of the body and neck where the speaker was most likely to be. Her cold eyes hinting this wasn’t the first time she had done such an act, but it was only a flash as it quickly turned to her normally stone face with a sigh as the sound, at last, came to an end.
It was just in time for Kos Mos and those farthest away to catch the end of the little song the barmaid had started to calm the crowd down. For a job well done, Kos took a moment to fix herself a drink. It wasn’t every day she found herself on this said of the bar.

NINA RIVERS
Hark now, hear the sailors cry, Smell the sea, and feel the sky,
Holy shit everything was happening way too fast. The poor shark girl reindeer helper couldn't even keep up!
First, some new girl came in and settled the children down, which was immensely helpful, and earned her massive props from Nina (to be doled out at a later date, realistically, as they still had important work to do here first), and it seemed like things were about to start going without a hitch!
Until the toys they had brought for the children decided to come alive, that is.
At first, it was kinda neat, as they started marching around, and barking. She just assumed that was how Mistrallian toys were, to be honest, which kinda got her super-curious about the mechanical side of toymaking here. Like, she'd have expected this kind of thing from Atlas, but it seemed a little too advanced for Mistral's usual tech. Maybe it was all clockwork and wind-up? That would still be way cool. Though from the way the airship was swooping around, she figured there had to be some dust in there somewhere.
Then she heard the orphanage lady cry out, and smelled freshly drawn blood. Which meant either the word ankle-biter was very literal around here, or something bad was happening. Nina was pretty quick to the draw, in the sense that she at least dropped the bag of toys in her mouth, and began searching the room for something to use to get the dogs off Miss Bellflower.
What? No, she didn't bring her trident with her, are you insane? She was dressed as a reindeer, not Ocean Lad. That would be crazy and very irresponsible!
So instead she found a tall and thin metal coat rack by the door, and hoisted that up instead- it ought to work about the same, really, it was a long stick with pointy pokey bits on the end. Close enough, right?
"Hey, watch out kids! These are really bad toys!" Frankly, she didn't have much more luck at getting the kids to flee to safety than Chloro or Berwyn did. Damn youthful lack of self-preservation instincts!
She'd just have to be super careful, then.
At least they could get a cool show!
From the second she'd rushed off to go grab a weapon, she had been building up a veil of water around herself with her Semblance, and now it was solidified into a few whip-like streams of aquatic justice, swirling around her torso like a hula hoop. She lashed out first with that, as Chloro and Berwyn handled the toys that had attacked the former trainee while she'd attempted to come to Miss Bellflower's rescue. While they focused on getting Chloro freed, she went ahead and sent out a full-force assault on the other half of the toy army, swatting them away with watery tendrils, entrapping them in swirling hovering whirlpools which slowly crushed them to bits, and stabbing at them with her makeshift spear- she even bit a toy soldier in half that tried to climb up her coat rack towards her.
It was a pretty flashy display of combat prowess, and while it didn't really help in clearing the kids out at all, she at least felt like maybe they were mad impressed by her cool Huntress moves. Which, honestly, was also a win.
There was no Winter Holiday cheer like cheering for a badass shark girl breaking a bunch of evil toys, after all!
Just like something out of a really cool anime.
Finally, she managed to whittle down the last of the robo dogs swarming Miss Bellflower, and reached out with her hand to pull her away towards the mass of children. "Hey, are you alright? Think you could manage getting the little dudes and not-dudes somewhere safe? We got it covered here, nessun problema! Just leave it to us!"
The poor woman was a little scuffed up, but didn't seem too seriously injured, so she nodded and immediately began trying to round up all of the children. Which left Nina free to turn her attention Chloro-wards.
But just as she moved to rush in and help her classmate out as well, she heard a very ominous noise from above.
She wasn't too clear on the inner workings of the Mistrallian legal system, but...
She was pretty sure the police didn't show up in tiny airships hovering near the ceiling...

Man, there was just no end to the zooming cars, was there?
The air smelled like burnt rubber and plastic, with the sulfurous fumes of gunpowder filling the air, thanks to those bastard toys stealing her prized creations. Shitty-ass toys... When she found out who it was that was controlling all of these things, she was going to give them an ass-whooping they would never forget. At least, if Alina and Sienna didn't catch up to the them first. After seeing the badass takedown of that psycho pumpkin chick, she would hate to see what the boss would do to the sneaky crook who stole their guns. Stealing from the Kozaks was not a smart crime to commit, even an especially stupid criminal could figure that one out. Whoever was behind this was probably so fucking delusional, they needed to get put down, for the safety of everyone around them.
She shook her head, shaking away thoughts of mad scientists with egos bigger than the fucking mountain they were standing on.
No time for all that shit, it was time to focus. She looked around, from her perch on the side of The Heaven's Gate. Speaking of which, there was a LOT of noise coming from the inside of the bar. She looked down, under her feet, to peek in through a window, only to see a bunch of girls (at least two of whom she knew!) screaming and shouting and running around and uh... Fighting an avocado? Very strange. She watched the little mass of fans inside as they crowded around, and then her favorite little bar waitress stepped up to calm them all the fuck down, which brought a little smile to Russet's face. Fuck, had she even dropped by Heaven's since she got out of the hole? Nah...
She needed to.
She stayed where she was for a second, listening through the window as Hinata started singing, grinning with pride and excitement for her old friend. Damn, she needed to drop by. Later! After the toy cars were dealt with.
Suddenly, Sienna's voice crackled over the radio, drawing her attention away from the song.
"Eh? My bike...? Uhh... Yeah, yeah. Yeah! Go for it, I trust you. Uh... What part exactly, though? And also why?" She had hit the "ground" already, as she began responding, casting a disappointed glance to the window as she stepped down from it. She'd really wanted to hear the rest of the song...
But she had work to do. Luckily, she was pretty damn fast. Not as fast as Sienna, but she could move quicker than most, thanks to her Semblance, as she skidded and slid her way down the bar's walls, and out through the alleyway, coasting on her momentum as she flew towards the workshop.
She was going to kill someone if her bike wasn't there...
Luckily, it was- she crashed through the door, knife drawn in case anyone was hiding inside, and quickly made her way to her bike, where she'd also stashed her gun. Aw, sweet, precious, baby, come to mama...
Now much better equipped for action, she hopped onto her bike, started her up, and kicked on her tunes as she sped out of the gate, ducking the garage door as it finished opening, and taking a couple potshots at the runaway cars as she zoomed off to the courtyard. "Whoo! Get fucked, Speed Racer!" Ding! She took out at least one of the many RC death traps.
Pretty soon, she was rolling up near Sienna, so she swung the bike into a hard stop, pulling up right next to the redhead with a squeal of her tires and a rumble of her engine, flashing a huge grin, as she took off her helmet and hopped off. "All yours, boss. Just uh... Please don't hurt her too bad..."
Post by Vesper Dubonnet on Dec 16, 2020 15:34:36 GMT -5
Some days are just the worst.
One moment you hear that your dad is going to stand you up, the next you have ran downstairs to get comfort from your mom and your cool cuddly toy avocado goes haywire.
Vesper stood in the door opening leading to the kitchen, hidden half behind the door as she saw her mom taking care of most of the problems that she caused. Well, her toy caused the problems, but Vesper knew that it was also her fault. She skipped through the kitchen to get to the bar and that must have caused everything to go wrong. Like, you tempt karma and this was the result of all of this.
The little bat Faunus stayed right where she was till she saw a particular someone enter the bar who she recognized. As much by the color of her outfit and the sway of her hips than anything else. It was Aladriel! Vesper opened the door fully and her wings expanded fully in excitement! She knew what to do about things! When Vesper didn't knew how she needed to operate the microwave in their new apartment, Aladriel knew how! When Vesper didn't knew if she needed to go for the strawberry handbag or the one that was a pineapple, she knew that only strawberry would do! She could fix this problem too! With a happy smile on her face she greeted the approaching star. "ALADRIEL! MY TOY IS-"
Why was she pulling out her weapon?
Aladriel could see the bat Faunus face visibly recoil in fear as she pulled out the weapon. Through her semblance she knew the popstar had it on her body, but she didn't expected it to be taken out. Her wings covered the front of her body trying to hide behind them as best she could. When Vesper was smaller, her wings fitted almost entirely around her body. Right now, they barely shielded even half of it. Her mom said that it was normal for certain body parts of Faunus to grow at different rates, and that she should try to use them more so they grow stronger.
But for now, there was simple a scared bat who looked on in horror as Aladriel took aim at the avocado toy, and fired. Vesper recoiled and looked on in shock at the very scene. How casually she performed the task. How nonchalantly she made a quip about it all. How a lot of her fans didn't even seem to mind as she could hear them even over the broken toy. They were harassing some pink haired girl that Hinata was talking to. Was she her new friend? All grown up and able to drink?
Vesper simply looked at Aladriel after she had fired her weapon, and she was still a bit shocked about it all. She walked up to her slightly and wanted to hold her hand as she was feeling all kinds of upset right now. Both for being in trouble with her dad, and now causing trouble for the bar. This would cost a lot of money right? Would they ask her to pay for it? Or her mom? They couldn't afford to pay the damages! Would Hinata be mad? Would she hate me now? This was my fault!
And another person walked into the bar and walked over towards the toy. Vesper knew she had a gun. Her semblance told her she had one on her body. She wanted to whisper that to Aladriel, but from where they were standing that wasn't going to happen. So, she just said it out loud. "Look out, she has a weapon!" Was she going to shoot at my failure as well? From where she was standing, she had a plain view of the blue girl's eyes lighting up. Was it...something she could do? Nothing happened. Was it just a cool trick?
What wasn't a cool trick was when she actually started to fire. Vesper hid behind Aladriel now as the shots went off and went wildly in any direction than at the toy! Did nobody know how to actually fire a gun? The Cow Faunus could feel Vesper shaking next to her and clutching her body. She was very much afraid of all the people casually firing guns in the bar. Sure, in Kuchinashi there were firefights, but the bars and clubs her mother performed were always... not combat zones at the very least. You take someone out back before you shoot them, one of the bouncers joked once.
The bat just (hopefully) held Aladriel's hand and the Faunus was hopefully not occupied by the ongoing simp struggle and musical show to see that Vesper was honestly not doing alright. Vesper's mom was still busy with some of the outside crowd, and wasn't even in sight to experience most of the song. The little bat just looked on as Hinata sung her heart out and everyone seemed to listen to her and seem to calm down. Some blue haired girl shut up the toy and and Hinata calmed everyone down. Even mom did more to help than she did! Even Aladriel attempted to help more than she did and she just entered!
Bratty bat was again crying, as she now saw Hinata finishing up her song. She was so talented, and pretty, and could do so much more than she herself could. They started to even cheer her name and she seemed so happy. She called this 'Kimmie' and... invited her to her band?
...
Vesper... hadn't even heard that Hinata had a band...
...nor did she asked Vesper to join...
...or carry stuff...
...or...just that it was a thing...
...
Was Vesper really that useless?
...
Ugh, fine. It is good that Kimmie and Hinata are happy and are best friends and have a band and do stuff and make something of their life. That was fine. They are the talented ones. They deserved to be good at singing. Like her mom was good at singing. Maybe they could ask my mom for lessons? Have them spend a lot of time with her and be popular.
Hell, maybe they should also just spend more time with my dad than I did!
...
Vesper went from sad to downright depressed for a moment. Her wings hung low and she looked at her feet. She let go off Aldriel's hand. With the noise dying down it was not hard to make out the bat now, and how downhearted her voice had gotten for causing all of this. "I...will leave you alone. You just...make friends with the talented ones..." Vesper walked over towards her shot up toy, and she took it off the ground. Without saying as much of a word she simply left through the kitchen. Instead of going up, she just took the nearest door that lead to the back alley. There was a dumpster next to the exit and Vesper walked around it to sit down on the other side. Away from the door.
She didn't wanted to have someone trip over her while coming out of the door so that she caused another trouble.
How was she ever going to pay for the damages to the bar?
She looked at her bonked-up toy for a moment. It was just like her now...
...Useless and forgotten.
...
"Dad was right to do something else than spent time with me...I suck..." She said, simply hugging the broken toy as her equal in mediocrity.
...
Right in front of her eyes, she saw a little toy car speeding across. It stopped behind the dumpster before backing up a bit too look at the girl. She found that odd. There were...little toy man on top of them? Were they...looking at her? Were all toy just going to act weird today? Her eyes fell on the different kind of objects they seemed to have been collecting. A blowtorch? Some fire crackers? Was that a bottle of beer? They seemed to be expecting something? Vesper held out her toy to them. Did they wanted that? Was it...was she going to help out someone today?
The toys on the car seemed to look at Vesper's offer for a moment, before they drove off again.

Everything happened so fast, once that shotgun blasted rung out, everything blurred. So much was happening but she was very aware of Vesper and what she was doing. Her eyes focused on several different scenes, whilst the noise was so loud it was dizzying. The blue haired woman that dealt with the toy was silent and cold, similar to those years from long again. She figured she knew where that one came from, but just as quickly as she appeared, she disappeared to the masses again. She knew a few of the regulars as they came and went, and knew the skill Hinata had with her voice but even then she listened as it began to calm everything down. The world began to slow again, and when her hand was taken by Vesper, she gripped it, looking to her with a sort of lost expression before it steeled and she gave a quick smile before her head snapped up again.
She did the usual applause when Hinata finished with her song, and she heard the invitation to her band she had just joined, she couldnt help but smile lightly before her face dropped almost straight after. Eyes shifting to Vesper, she felt the grip in her hand leave and the bat's voice echo out quietly, just enough that she could hear most of it and piece the dots together. Now torn between what she wanted to do and what she needed to do, she looked back to the stage then to the fleeing Vesper. "... Fuck sake. I'll catch them later." She muttered to herself as she took after Vesper. Pushing past into the kitchen, a place she didn't enter often but as one of the regulars and one that spent time with Vesper and Midnight the most, she was allowed.
She followed the footsteps of the bat to the alleyway, opening the backalley door slowly to see toy cars driving past and further out of sight? What? Whatever, that is a later problem, right now was the sad and depressed bat across the alley. She did catch the tail end of the last mutter, and she felt her heart break slightly. Her beautiful bat, upset at the circumstances of the night. She would fix this, and Aladriel would approach and kneel next to her, hugging her softly. "You don't suck hun, you're one of the best girls I know..." She would pur softly as she stroked the girls hair and ears, giving a tight squeeze before holding her shoulders and smiling at her. "How about we do our own thing tonight? Leave the drinking for another night, and we do something together. Just me and you against the world."
She would kiss her nose and giggle lightly as she got up, doing a small piroet and smiling. "Maybe I could teach you some more dance moves? I know you love that." She did a few of her own moves before deliberately tripping over of the trashcans, in a hope to make her laugh before recovering it well and continuing, as she would spin by Vesper and pull her up to her feet, graciously and freeflowing, letting her put the broken avocado toy elsewhere as she then held her hand out and gave a wink. ❝I Was Lightning,
Before The Thunder❞

She tugged the scarf even tighter around her face as he mentioned Kishka. Rose tilted her head towards the comics in the window and then glanced up at the snake, studying his face carefully. She was never the best with...emotions, but even someone as dense as her could tell that Argent was conflicted and hurting. It frustrated her that Kish was taking things so hard, but it also wasn't surprising. Losing Holly was a harsh blow to everyone, but she held a special friendship with her gardening club members. And now that she needed Argent the most...he was out here wallowing like some selfish prick!?
Rose bared her teeth angrily and glared at him, stabbing a finger aggressively into his chest as her nose curled up into a snarl.
"You are an idiot! IDIOT! Fight or not, you are the ONLY one who Kishie can lean on right now. So ya failed? Big fuckin' deal! Be a man and go back...in fact, wait right fuckin' here and freeze yer ass off for a sec!"
Rose stomped toward the shop and yanked hard at the handle, flinging it open and causing the snowy wind to flow in. She was like a torrent of unbridled conviction, slight lightning zapping about her small frame as she rushed toward the comics on display in the window. The girl snatched them up without a second thought and whirled back at the register to pay for the transaction. Needless to say, the clerk was stumbling over his words but Rose had no time for such blathering. She wasn't the best at math either, so she wasn't even sure if her change was correct. Whatevs, as long as the shit was wrapped up in a baggie nicely then that was good enough.
The blonde snatched the books up in the bag and again forced the door open, slamming it so hard that the attached bell dinged like mad! Rose thrust the bag at Argent as if she were trying to punch his chest and steeled her jade eyes directly into his own.
"You take these and give them to her! Apologize if ya have to, but do NOT let her be alone right now. Ya hear?"
A faint blush appeared on her face standing out in the cold and Rosalia coughed to clear the air between them.
"And now that I wasted my money on this...you will take me to the shopping district. It just so happens that I'm pickin' up a gift as well, but uh...not sure what to get."
Rose's face flushed an even brighter red as she stood there, body shaking more from embarrassment than from the cold.
"So...uh, how about it? Help me find somethin' for a bratty fox...and then get yer ass back to Kishie...cool? Y'all faunus type think alike, right?"
Should be last round of just RP. Will introduce a problem next post!

Sienna waited apprehensively for Russet to drive her bike over. Normally she wouldn't care that she was going to have to take something apart, but Russet was one of those weirdos that actually had some sentimental attachment to their tools. She would never understand that feeling. Vehicles and tools weren't alive. They couldn't be hurt like people could and they were built for an intended function. This was why the car she had been working on so long was sitting abandoned outside of Kerch now. There was nothing about it that she couldn't replace, and the only thing that she was sad about was how expensive it would be.
Russet showing up blasting loud music and then acting like it was physically possible to hurt a machine like it was a person did nothing to ease her anxiety. This should have been an easy thing to do, and while the situation was potentially dangerous, it wasn't even mid tier compared to some of the stuff she'd dealt with in the past. There was no reason for her to be this nervous, and yet here she was, looking down with her shoulders together so she'd be as small as possible while her heart was pounding in her chest. While she wasn't worried about hurting machines, she absolutely hated hurting people, even emotionally, so she really didn't want to screw this up.
Whatever, it was time to go.
She didn't need any tools for the task. Her semblance only worked on whole objects, but as long as she went for the parts holding everything together, the screws, bolts, and other such connectors, she could use her semblance to have those phase through everything else. After making sure to pocket the pieces so she wouldn't lose them, she disabled the part she needed to, and started the motorcycle back up, taking a moment to turn off the music. It wasn't because she was no fun or because of the noise this time, it was because once it came on it was so staticky she could barely hear it anyway. And static was annoying to listen to and she didn't want to deal with it.
It wasn't a powerful electromagnetic pulse, but it didn't need to be. That was why the radio was still working, albeit badly, and why peoples' phone quality would suddenly go down and the internet would be really slow. It wouldn't break anything, not even toys like this, but it did make them slow down and stutter. The cheaper ones stopped moving entirely, making whirring sounds similar to what they would sound like if the batteries were dying. Others kept stopping and starting, and others moved at maybe a quarter of the speed. Regardless, at this point all of them were moving slowly enough that it wouldn't be any harder to clean them up than if the children in the area had just left all their toys laying around. Between the three of them and the force Alina roused, it shouldn't take that much longer to deal with as long as the bike kept running.
If Alina was still in hearing range, she'd shout, but otherwise she'd talk over the radio.
"Nuke 'em Alina!"
By this point the vehicles were either still or moving so slowly that Alina shouldn't have any trouble aiming for large groups that didn't have anything flammable on them, and Sienna herself could reclaim some stuff to make even more groups safe to destroy. The rest would have to be grabbed, but that's where the numbers would be useful.
Now she just needed to put Russet's bike back together and then get back to the kitchen before the food spoiled.

-Sorry, man. I don’t think this was on anyone’s plans!- I called out to Indigo. Sighing in relief as at least my remaining grenade was still safely strapped to my hip.
-To be fair, I doubt they can even use them, but still, that is my fucking luck for you- I retorted, holding a small canister made entirely out of stone, smooth almost all the way through.
They were supposed to be activated with my semblance or aura, so there weren’t any chances of these things exploding unless something silly happened. Like them being thrown into a fire or being really near other explosives going off... And I just jinxed it, did I?
Well, putting that thing aside. Escarlata was right about us needing to focus on what we could actually do for now. We would have time to care for the truck later. After all, how bad could it possibly get?
-Will do that!- I replied, strapping my weapon on my back and making my way towards the smoke, wondering what this fast lane Indy spoke of actually was... And I only had to take a brief look towards him to realize what he meant by that.
Damn, he was quick. Not only that, he was jumping and zooming through the rooftops like a fucking Sabyr. Who would think old man Indigo would be so nimble? It became apparent that this dude had more than one trick under his sleeve... And I didn't fail to notice the high quality of his weapon before. So this would be something to keep in mind.
He was way faster than me, but that didn’t mean I had to be relegated to falling behind like a slowpoke. Using him as a reference, I got a decent idea of how to navigate the streets to reach our destination way sooner than what I would have without his assistance.
I watched his silhouette stop atop a departmental building, and I instinctively knew we had reached our mark. Emerging from an alley, I had a pretty nice look at what appeared to be... I don’t fucking know. Did it even have a name?
The toys were burning some tires and running in circles around it, which could have been a pretty familiar scene here in the Ground District if it weren’t for the facts these were toys doing it.
Was this a fucking protest? Had the toys acquired conscience and decided to rebel against their masters? Was this what humans felt when they saw our protests? Was this maybe some kind of weird PR stunt trying to ridicule faunus protesting? Probably not, but when faced with a situation of such absurdity, the mind starts considering every possibility.
As I was left trying to decide which of those ideas were the less stupid of the bunch. I at least could have the relief of knowing this wasn’t something like a burning house or an electrical fire, Small mercies, I guess.
The little anarchists seemed pretty distracted, so I manage to catch them off guard with a small army of my own. Small clay soldiers emerging from under their feet and waging a cruel battle against the opposing force with hardened blades and stony tridents.
The IA (Or whatever these things ran on. Hopefully not black magic) apparently wasn’t advanced enough to distinguish these constructs from real living things. So they faced them head-on without any intention to retreat or try and find the one controlling the puppets.
So this was probably the best chance I had at taking as many of these fuckers as possible. Since the last time when I tried to confront them directly, most of them managed to run away.
It was still taxing as fuck in regards to concentration. Only seldom I micromanaged this many things at once. It was making my head hurt. So I wasn’t looking forward to doing it again unless absolutely necessary.
Once most of the... Toy soldiers. Had either died or run away. I signaled for Indigo to come down for a second.
-It’s probably a good idea to douse these fires, so people won't lose time coming to check this out... And I have a feeling we are going to need as much help as possible with this one-
I called out, hands on my hips as I looked at the chaos around me. Dedicating a few minutes to rolling big balls of snow and throwing them over the fires to extinguish them once and for all.
-I know there is an orphanage nearby. I want to check that one first. I feel like too many toys in one place could spell trouble- And with this, I was off again. Indy could either follow me there or decide to do some other thing. But he seemed competent enough, so I wasn’t worried about him.
…
Upon arriving at Sunshine Orphanage, I could tell my concerns were justified even before setting foot inside. The screams of terror and general ruckus coming from the building were enough to make me quicken my pace and practically kick down the door.
And what greeted me was... In part what I expected. But I didn’t expect it to be so many fucking students here. But, hey. I wasn’t complaining.
On one side, there was the shark-girl. Nina. Although she now looked more like a deer-girl in my eyes. Deftly brandishing a coat hanger and assisting a woman that must have been the person in charge of the children, who were currently cowering in fear in a corner.
Berwyn was also there! And she appeared to be in some sort of... Santa Claus costume... Sans the beard... Wow, Uhm... I feel like that awakened some things in me that I wasn’t aware existed, nor ready for... But this was not the time to be horny, It was the time for action.
I could ask my roommate to keep that costume later.
Now, my main concern appeared to be an elf Chloro, covered from head to toes by joyful spirit and killer contraptions. Each and every one of them doing their damn best to pinch, bite, stab and scratch at her with everything they got.
-Stand still!- I told my mute companion. But to my chagrin, the toys didn’t seem so willing to comply with my orders. Trashing and wriggling wildly all over her body, preventing me from having a clear path to each one.
I reversed the grip from my spear and managed to strike one of them, sending it flying against a wall and shattering on impact. Nice.
My second attack almost landed on Chloro’s hip... Not so nice. The third one again managed to destroy a toy, but my follow up was really close to hitting her on the shoulder.
This wasn’t working. At this rate, I would break her aura before the toys would. I seemed to be unable to hit my mark reliably.
And, of course, that would happen. My balance was way off! Nereida was all fucking metal from one tip to the other. This shit was a wooden pole with a metal tip!
Which may have been the norm, and what smart people made when they wanted to mass produce something easy to use... But it wasn’t what I was used to! I missed my heavy, hard to use, but evenly balanced spear...
-Holy shit... Alright, calm down, focus on keeping your aura up!- I called out as I approached her and started the arduous work of pulling out the toys one by one. It would take a little longer, but I was sure I should be able to pull it off soon.
I listened to Nina’s warning from afar. Raising my head for a second to take a peek at what was making those infernal noises.
-Berwyn! Can you do something about that fucking air brigade over us?- I asked back without needing to turn and look at her. I knew she could float, and I knew she was mostly a ranged fighter. So I trusted her for the task while the rest of us took care of the toys down here.

With his jaw once again hitting the floor, or roof on this case, Escarlata slowly shook his head as he saw the tiny war taking place on the ground.
Damn, he wished he had a camera right now.
Leaning on the roof cornice, he allowed himself to enjoy the free for all battle taking place, that would end up with the kid's army (?) being victorious.
After the kid motioned for him to go down, he deftly climbed down the building and heard what she had to said. Finding himself nodding along as she spoke. After helping her putting out the fires, Escarlata heard her plans and nodded.
"Lead the way, kid. I'll follow you through the roofs to keep cover," Nodding once again, Escarlata did as he said and climbed to the rooftops once again. And, after Bianca took off, followed her.
It was amazing how easy it was to move through the roofs when compared to the confusing maze that was the Ground district.
And long before the orphanage was within visual range, sounds that should never come from such a place reached his ears. Quickening his pace, Escarlata followed the screams of terror, children's screams no less, and set shop in the building across the street just as Bianca kicked the door into the building.
Quickly grabbing the rifle from his back, he deployed the gun's bipod and placed it on the roof's parapet. And what he could see with his scope through the windows wasn't pretty.
Toys had already started their assault on the orphanage. And, right now, they seemed to really want to kill a poor girl that had them currently crawling on her like ants.
Quietly assessing the situation, Escarlata did a quick check over through the rest of the windows and saw how even the toys had air support with them. And, even with the distance, he could hear their threats.
He wouldn't risk any kid getting injured over this.
Taking the safety off his gun, he quickly aimed at the airship and shot it out of the sky with a clean pull of the trigger. With the threat now over, and his mind now fully into marksman role, his rifle deftly moved to the next group of hostiles.
Which, in the presence of the higher threat of actual bullets, had actually quickly forgotten about the girl and just started to mindlessly charge into Escarlata's direction.
They were running a straight line into a marksman with a loaded rifle.
They were doing nothing short of suicide.
With pull after pull of the trigger, Escarlata deftly took toy after toy out as they ran in his direction. The bullets thankfully over penetrated into the ground, avoiding any ricochet that may have hurt a bystander.
It would not even be a minute before he called the "All clear."
"Boy, that sure brings backs memories," He said to himself with a smile. Looking at the street below to appreciate his handiwork.
But of course, things just couldn't be easy.
One, two, three RC pickup trucks soon appeared down one of the nearby streets. Each carrying a squad worth of troop- ahem, a squad worth of toys on their back.
Some were brandishing relatively harmless stuff; nails, broken beer bottles, firecrackers, and the likes.
But there were two that actually caused him to take a double-take. One was carrying an unlit molotov cocktail (If it found it or made it was beyond him) and a zippo. And the other was carrying one of the Kid's grenades.
Saying he went pale would be an understatement.
These toys were no longer toying around. They were coming in for the kill. Quickly readying his rifle, a curse left his lips after he pressed the trigger and was answered with a 'click'.
Reaching into his ammo pouch, yet another curse left his lips after his hand came up empty. Had he really not packed any more ammo!?
Shaking his head at himself, he shouted at the top of his lungs as the toys disembarked from their makeshift APCs.
"Kid! You have twelve foot mobiles coming in from your six! The two leading ones have lethal weaponry!"
What wouldn't he give to have a radio at this moment. WC: 704/2,165 Attempting Problem: Chloro is getting swarmed too (Combatants Difficulty 8) Using Marks E Result: 7+1 = 8 Sucess. Introducing New Problem: The Assault Begins. (Combatants Difficulty 9)

I know you got hate in you. Most do. Trick is to use it, 'stead of it usin' you.
But you know this. Vengeance is a motivator, not the motive. Don't hunt 'em 'cause you been wronged. Hunt 'em 'cause what they did was wrong. There's a world of difference there, kid. One makes you selfish. The other makes you a hero.
And I see a hero in you.

Argent hadn't expected an outburst of that magnitude. To be quite honest, he hadn't expected much of anything at all. While he was aware that Rose was normally blunt and to the point, it had also seemed like the shorter girl was preoccupied with things of her own. He had expected a short exchange of pleasantries, a short conversation, and then the two of them going their own ways.
He had expected wrong.
Taken aback by the sudden and completely unexpected jab of a finger into his chest, the snake Faunus staggered back a step before he caught his balance, and could only wince as Rose proceeded to yell at him before storming her way inside the store. Without anywhere to go and with no reason to ignore her demand, Argent just took a deep breath and let the air hiss out softly through his teeth. The point Rose had been trying to make hadn't gone by him - walking out alone in the streets while his girlfriend was going through emotional turmoil didn't make for a good impression. But what was he to do when she didn't even want to see him around? What if he made things worse by trying to force the issue?
Almost as if on instinct, his hand pulled the Scroll from his pocket to check, the screen lighting up as his thumb brushed across the cracked glass. Nothing. No response, as had been the case over the last few days. His messages remained unanswered, only a pair of dull grey tick marks letting him know that they had been received. Disappointing, but not unexpected. With another soft huff, he shoved the device back into his pocket as Rose came storming out again, just in time to catch the bag as it came shoving into his chest with the force of what felt like a full fledged punch. If he didn't know any better, he could have sworn that she was trying to break a rib - the slight ache continued for a few moments until his Aura finally soothed it over, in time for her to finish her little tirade, before she softened up a little, a little red coloring her face.
Standing there, holding the bag, Argent let his shoulders slump for just a moment. Give it to her. Make sure she wasn't alone. Were it so easy, he would have already done so. He didn't have the heart to explain further - not that he was entirely sure she would take those explanations as anything less than excuses, anyway. And yet, even so - standing there, looking like a right fool with his hands full and his back bowed, he couldn't help but look at the spitfire before him, and the concern she'd shown about Kishka, and feel relief.
Rose cared about Kishka, in ways that had just made themselves abundantly clear. And if that was the case, then she had taken his insistence to heart - making friends, and finding others to bond with outside of his own company. In that moment, he was grateful - grateful that she'd found someone who felt so strongly about her, and grateful that she'd listened to him after all.
"...Yeah. Sure."
Straightening up slightly, he nodded at the shorter girl, moving to tuck the comics within the confines of his coat before taking a step back, glancing about to the signpost at the end of the street and checking it against his internal memories. No doubt Kishka was still trying to destroy what remained of the training facilities equipment. She was strong, after all, even if her rage made her brittle in all the wrong places. The snake Faunus was sure he would find the dusky young woman somewhere along those lines, perhaps even already readying a new training regimen for herself so she could get back at the person who had eliminated Holly, despite his advice to the contrary. She might take a few swings or potshots at him, but now that he was determined to get through to her, it was a possibility he was willing to accept if it meant closing the divide that had appeared between them.
"I'll try," he said, motioning for her to follow with the wave of a hand and waiting for her to fall in step beside him as he started making his way back the way he'd come. HIs eyes were slightly glazed over as he thought about Rose's request, letting his feet and body move on instinct and memory to avoid knocking into the others still walking the streets.
"I don't speak to a lot of fox types. But it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to get him or her something useful or something more sentimental. Stuff like that. Haven student? Or someone from the civilian population?"

[attr="class","nikki109"]Alina didn’t quite know what the hell was going on, but she knew enough to realize that this was going to be a really long night. Her radio was already starting to chirp with reports from all over the Ground District, so it was pretty obvious at this point that this was not an isolated incident. There were random cars all congregating towards one place or another again, and the wolf faunus was burning them along the way. After melting the rubber of one so that it was rendered unable to move, she picked up one of the cars looking for a logo or a label or a company name. The one she picked up did in fact have one, though it was pretty small letters. Great Grin was the name of the logo, which at least provided some easy identification. [break][break]
She followed the stream of cars, but as she was pulling out the radio with her left hand to provide an update over the radio Red beat her to the punch. Something was causing the cars to move much more sluggishly, and with that being the case it was easy to just snap the middle finger and thumb of her right hand multiple times to bathe the ground in a low heat flame that just slowly and carefully melted the plastic or rubber tires on each of the toy vehicles in this particular congregation. It didn’t completely kill the cars, as they could still try and fail to rev up their shitty little engines until the batteries ran out… but that was fine. [break][break]
Pulling out the radio with her left hand, flipped on the emergency frequency they had set up just for situations like this, and just started talking. ”Hello, this is Alina speaking. Every house should have their radios turned on for emergency broadcasts so I should be speaking to everyone affiliated with the Kozaks right now, and the rest of our friends should be joining us soon. If you just changed frequency, this is Alina speaking with an update on our current situation. It appears the toys are marked with a logo saying ‘Great Grin’. If you have any of these toys lying around that aren’t currently operable, I would do your best to destroy or at the very least disable them.” [break][break]
She took a deep breath, and then continued. ”I know that a lot of you are scared right now, and you have every right to be. This wasn’t the sort of thing we were expecting, but we do have structures in place to deal with this. Each neighborhood is assigned an Iron Wolves section, and you should have their contact information. Please avoid continuing to spam and clutter the general line with traffic and direct your reports directly to the Iron Wolves section assigned to your neighborhood. It is only when the local section is unable to handle things that we need things escalated, and the person in charge of that section has the responsibility to make that call.” [break][break]
”There’s a lot of unknowns right now, and we’re trying to figure out exactly what is happening and then why it is happening. Focusing on what we don’t know isn’t very helpful but focusing on the actions that you can take right now to make you, your family, and your neighborhood safer. Lock your doors and windows, avoid traveling alone, and report any suspicious activity to your local Iron Wolves representative. We’ll be working our way through the Ground District clearing out these things, and if you’re not anywhere near a Great Grin toy do your best to keep it that way. Only use the public channels if it’s a life or death situation that needs immediate attention until further notice. Stay safe, and don’t do anything I wouldn't do. Alina out.” [break][break]
Almost immediately after sending that message, there was a ping on another channel. Adjusting the radio to the Iron Wolves general frequency, it sounded like there were gunshots heard near an orphanage adjacent to Kozak territory. ”Alina speaking, I’m on my way. Let me know if there’s anything urgent that comes up that needs my attention. Out.” [break][break]
Gray eyes scanned the street for a method of transportation, and sure enough she found an abandoned bicycle thrown on the sidewalk by someone no doubt fleeing the toys at some point earlier. The faunus walked over and lifted the bike up before getting on and making her way towards the location of the orphanage, much faster than she would have been able to travel on foot because honestly fuck walking at this point… she was expected to be in too many places at once, and walking wasn’t even going to get her to five percent of those places in time to do anything so bicycle it was. The owner would forgive her, probably. [break][break]
