Luckily (Or unfortunately) Berwyn didn’t need to try and snatch the plane out of the figurative sky. Since as we were speaking, a single shot could be heard, and the plane was pierced from side to side before falling to the ground, completely unmoving. And leaving all of the spectators speechless for a second.
-Well... That’s a way of taking care of it. I guess...-
I finally spat during the moment the gunshots ended. A slight sense of relief washed over me when the toys left Chloro and the civilians alone and decided to run away from us and directly towards who I assumed to be Indigo with his rifle.
The murder toys started pouring outside like a tidal wave. And one by one, the sniper started taking them down with his rifle. I stood between the door and the kids, making sure to body-block any stray bullet that could ricochet in our direction.
Luckily, this was unnecessary, as the projectiles seemed to have enough penetrating power to stick right into the ground.
I still wouldn’t take any chances. So as soon as I realized what was going on. I took it on myself to liquefy and soften the ground around the toys. Making sure the bullets would sink deeply into the soil without further risk of injury.
It was still dangerous as fuck, and in a way, it reminded me of the incident with the vigilante who used her powers in a crowded street to take down holly. This was less severe since he wasn’t using something as extreme as napalm or such an insane amount of raw firepower (pun intended).
But still highly irresponsible on his part. Especially considering these things were arguably less dangerous than Holly's semblance. So I would be having a really long talk with him later, warning him to never pull out shit like this again.
-Is the civilian lady okay? How bad are her injuries? Would they cause permanent damage without taking her to the hospital? I feel like there are gonna be a lot of hospitalized people tonight. So we better save as many beds as possible-
I called back to the other huntresses in training inside of the building. When a loud voice coming from the outside caught my attention.
It was military jargon. And clearly coming from Indigo. Which was strange in and out of itself. I hadn’t pegged him for a soldier, or an ex-soldier, as it would probably be more accurate.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case and it was simply something he didn’t like talking about. He wouldn’t be the first one who wanted to carry on pretending their past was dead and gone.
Either that, or he was one of those military wannabees learning the way soldiers talk and act because they think it’s cool without ever fighting for any armed force.
Either way, I had no time to dwell on that for long. The message was transparent enough for me to get the general gist of it, so I quickly made my way outside and looked around to see how bad the situation was.
Turning towards my six. I could at least attest that the information was on point. Three RC trucks were coming straight for us, filled to the brim with small combatants like some kind of miniature raiding party, probably attracted by the sound of gunfire.
But what was really alarming was that one of the soldiers was carrying a Molotov, and the other brandished my stolen grenade. Those things were short-range but packed a mean punch, so I didn’t want them going off near any living being.
So, I needed to take care of this as soon as possible. To avoid endangering both the civilians as much as my partners.
Gripping my spear, I waited for the soldiers to enter my effective range and then struck with all I got. I didn’t want to damage the street too badly, so I wouldn’t go haywire with my semblance. But I figured out the thing could survive having a pothole or two for me to have access to enough dough for my attack.
Lifting to chunks of rock about as big as my forearms. I stretched and sharpened them until I had a nice set of fan blades as strong as bronze weapons ready to do some serious damage. And without further preamble, I sent them spinning right for the toy trucks. Cutting them in half and forcing the occupants to make the rest of their track on foot.
Now that the vehicles were taken care of. My order of priorities was clearly to take out the one with the molotov cocktail first before they figured out how to set it off. Running towards it, I snatched the homemade explosive with my tail and deftly took care of the soldiers with a wide swing of my spear.
Some of the toys were tinkering with my grenade likely trying to make it work. But unless you have an aura or very clear instructions, it would be impossible for them to make it explode, nevertheless. Once It reentered my range, I was able to easily make it float back to me. So that was one less concern.
The rest of the toy soldiers were numerous but didn’t stand much of a chance. Some tried to slash and stab at me, but they were either crushed under my foot or pierced by the still shitty yet moderately useful spear I was carrying.
2 minutes or so later. They were all broken into pieces.
Grabbing the Molotov bomb, I threw away the rag and decided to empty the gasoline into a nearby manhole. Better not to let this fuckers get ahold of this again.
-That appears to be all of them! Is anyone else hurt!?- I called back inside the orphanage as I looked over to the city. Wondering just how many of these fuckers were still around.
If Indigo decided to show his face over the rooftops, I would give him a look that, without a shadow of a doubt, would communicate to him how much shit he was into.
-Anyone has any idea what the fuck is this all about? The whole town seems to be full of this fuckers...- I asked the remaining trainees with genuine curiosity. Hoping they could give me at least the barest of explanations as to what was happening now.

Things weren’t exactly going swimmingly. Well, Berwyn wasn’t certain how much could go right when you are in an orphanage being attacked by creepy, violent toys that seemed to be out for bleed. Sure, for as now only the blood of one poor orphan caretaker, but that could change quite soon unless they got these damn toys under control!
Nina seemed to at least get around to freeing Miss Bellflower, who in turns seemed to be getting the children to safety. Well, that was at least one problem less that they had to deal with. Raul helped escorting the children, and kept them safe and out of sight. Just like he was now out of sight. Berwyn punted a tiny toy soldier in an early called victory. “Great work Nina! I have no idea what is going on, but we are doing great!”
Maybe not that great, but some encouraging words never hurt anyone!
And just when Berwyn almost wanted to go for the strategy of hitting Chloro really hard to get the toys off, the cavalry seemed to have arrived! Berwyn gave a smile and made a gesture that could only be described as ‘take a look at this shit, can you believe it?’
Bianca’s attempt at freeing Chloro from the toy oppression wasn’t exactly with much more grace than Berwyn’s attempt, but she seemed to be more effective at it at least. Berwyn encouraged Chloro to indeed just roll with the punches. Or well, the jabs. “Just take the beating, Chloro-girl! We will get you out!”
Berwyn heard Bianca’s call-out of the airship, and she went to fly up to deal with it before something happened that she hadn’t expected. And that was even after she completely lowered the bar after this invasion of toys.
She mistook the first shot as one of her companions firing at toys, but as she quickly remembered that she didn’t thought anyone of them had guns in their arsenal. As following the shot the airship was coming down, Berwyn quickly understood that whoever was giving the fire support was doing so from outside the room. Did Bianca bring a friend? She seemed to at least expect the shooter as she was body blocking the shots that could hit the few kids still in the room that were being escorted out.
Speaking of the airship, when it went down its speaker got out an “Mayday, mayday! Calling on all Mistral Police Airships to come to this position! Mayday!” Berwyn hoped that this was just some pre-recorded line and she didn’t have to fight a whole armada of the things.
The toys seemed to walk out of the door and into the direction of whoever was giving them fire support. All of the kids were now out of the main room, and the shooter seemed to be at least capable enough to not hit anyone in the orphanage itself. So… Berwyn was content with simply coatracking a toy as she made her way to Chloro.
Checking up on her friend, Bianca called out for a sit-rep. Berwyn provided it. “Civilian is escorting the last of the kids to the backrooms. Raul said he would stay with them to keep them safe. You come from the outside, Bianca! Is this happening at other places or just this orphanage? Why might need to go out into the district-“
Berwyn stopped with giving her report when a new wave of toys appeared. Were they coming in waves now? So they were coming to this place, or did Bianca lead them here? As she seemed to be the most proficient toy-slayer around, Berwyn thought to divide and conquer. She tried to call out to her Faunus friend. “Bianca, can you deal with th-“ And she is already off… Honestly, she is going to get herself injured with how quickly she heads off into danger. “Nina, can you assist Bianca?” she said to the shark, “Chloro, are you, all right?” She said to the mute, hoping that she would get something to write on or communicate with.
Meanwhile, Berwyn ensured that all of the kids were now finally out of the main room, carrying a few of them herself to speed up the promise. Afterwards, Raul said that there were no Grin toys taken to the back. Wanting to just be safe, Berwyn took a heavy table in her hands and placed it against the door leading out of the room. It seemed that the problem came from the front, so they just had to keep the entrance secured. Raul was with them just in case, and he would make sure to barricade the back entrance just in case to ride out the storm. Smart enough plan.
When Bianca was finishing up, Bianca seemed to be done with the wave from the front. Berwyn caught up with the lizard to discuss what was going on. Answering to the best to her ability: “I don’t think anyone is gravely wounded. The caretaker of the children got it the worst, but even she is well enough.”
The reason why all of this was happening in the first place, Berwyn could only give the vaguest of answers as she honestly didn’t have a clue. “One minute the toys were toys, the next they were attacking us. I have no idea what star-“
Berwyn didn’t had time to react before she could see it.
Far over the roof of the building at the other side of the road, she could see the reinforcements the downed airship called for. It were three identical airships that still made kick-ass enough models, but in the model of it was another kind of aircraft.
It was a zeppelin.
With the Great Grin Logo plastered on the side.
It was apparently named the ‘Grindenburg’.
It was still a toy, Berwyn thought, or perhaps a promotional model? It was bigger than the model airships, and it seemed to be escorted. Berwyn alerted the other students and took a firm grip on her trusty coatrack. She wanted to get ahead of whatever it was going to attempt, and like a Greek god she took a few steps before she chucked the coatrack like a spear at the zeppelin as it approaches.
And it was a wonder, but Berwyn hit it!
…
And it was now going down!
…
Oh no…
The zeppelin…
…crashed right into the roof of the orphanage!
…
It seemed to not be that bad? Berwyn glanced at her fellow huntress for a moment. “Well…that could have… gone worse?” Right as she said that there was a large explosion above them all as the zeppelin exploded into flames with a comedic timing that Berwyn could appreciate on every other day she didn’t just caused a fire to start at the top level of an orphanage.
“Fuck…”
Berwyn’s hair started to glow as she began to fly up to see what the damage was.
The flying airship seemed to circle the building for now, shining their spotlights at the crash site. The zeppelin had crashed in the roof and had made a hole it in, flames coming out of it that were most likely spreading in the top of the mostly wooden building.
…
They needed to get the orphans out again, weren’t they?
…
And she got that stupid barricade up… and Raul got the backdoor.
This was going to be an issue, right? She flew down slightly towards her fellow students. “Someone help with getting the orphans out again! I will stay on watch here and make sure that these airships don’t do anything freaky! Also, I am fully ware this is at least 30% my fault, but I didn’t wanted to cause this Grindenburg Disaster!"

The toys that climbed up her legs werent too much of a problem, until the number just kept increasing. The tiny teeth and weapons hacked away at her skin, leaving small scratches which she would eventually put up her aura to keep more from forming, as well as the barrier begin to take the hits. However, she wasn't used to be hit, so it wasn't the most durable of aura barriers ever. She kept frantically spinning, trying to grab the ones from behind to hurl them into floor. Whilst this happened, she wasn't much attuned to the surrounding occurences, before the gunshots rang out.
Apparently at some point, Bianca had joined them and soon after, she snapped her head to the sound of the gunshot, before watching the airship toy crash to the floor, until more shots rang out, taking off some of the toys on her which let her grab the rest and crush them all underfoot, eventually freeing herself. Now that she was free from the toy menace, she took a breather as Berwyn checked up on her. A quick nod before pointing to the door and gesturing her to go, she turned and looked for Miss Bellflower and the kids, watching them leave the main room to one of the backrooms.
Then the building rumbled as the explosion detonated from the zepplin that her fellow classmates dealt with. She looked to the doorway that the students left through and gritted her teeth. They need to exert some fucking caution sometimes, none of them think. Growling to herself, she caught the tail end of Berwyn's "order" to get the kids out. She darted to the rear door of the main room and quickly ripped off the barricade she had made, before sprinting into the backrooms where the kids and Miss Bellflower was, and she began speed signing her hands to one of the kids to then talk to the others. "Stay with me, do not go out there. I'll get you out." She grabbed Miss Bellflower by the hand before leading her towards the backdoor, and once she took down the rear barricade, she0 tried to open the door. Locked, and they definitely didn't have time to- CRASH.
Chloro turned her head to the far doorway they came through, and it seemed that part of the building was falling apart. Shit, fuck. Shit. Fuck. Bollocks. This increase in panic and anxiety that rarely, if ever, formed in Chloro, made her fumble with her semblance trying to unlock the back door. Quickly pulling her tape recorder out, she played it as it screamed a girls voice. "Down! Stay on the floor!" Whilst it was more threatening, it worked for this situation, smoke was beginning to creep through the building and she didn't want the kids to inhale any soot and muck from the air. Frantically, she kept trying to shoulder bash the door down meanwhile, trying to focus with her semblance at the same time.

Vesper was ready to just sulk for a moment till she would have felt at least a bit less like a bad bat. She was not really given this private time as just moments after she sat down, her aura told her that the door to the restaurant was opened. Aladriel had a distinctive enough body shape with... assets, that she could make her out in a busy crowd without a fault.
She didn't wanted the cow Faunus to be here, though. Aly had tons of more important stuff to do than spent time with me now. As the Faunus came around the dumpster, she knelt down and tried to consol to childish bat. That was how Vesper felt when Aladriel said those words. Like she was a child who needed to be looked after and consoled. Like Vesper was always just going to be some child in her eyes who needed to be baby-sitted! Like she was Aladriel burden instead of a friend! Just one of the choirs she needed to take care off to spend time with mom!
Still sulking, Vesper looked at Aladriel's little routine. While there was in fact a momentary smile on her face after the fall, it quickly evaporated again. She was putting on some clown act for the child, wasn't she? Trying to make her laugh like it would have done if she was ten? I am an adult! Other girls my age have jobs or fight monster and have a life! I got my mom and her ex-lover trying to cheer me up because for some reason the world decided that I should like eternally like a child to her!
Giving her first verbal response towards Aladriel's efforts, Vesper made it clear that the cow Faunus act wasn't working. "Stop it, Aly! Maybe I do wanna drink and get wasted and fall of a roof! Or do other stuff gir... women my age are supposed to do! Not play with toys that break or getting stood-up for bands they wouldn't even be good enough to join!"
Vesper stood up without playing along with the dance and seemed to be caught in a mixture of anger and frustration for a moment. She rose up her arms which looked more comical than anything threatening! "Maybe I should just sleep around and get my own army of crazed fans! Maybe then people will take me serious!" She shouted. While the comment was not really nice, it also didn't sounded like it was out of spite. Just a girl who seemed to be getting to the end of her ropes in her situation. "I don't got any education that would get me a good job! I got wings and ears so most companies wouldn't even think about hiring me! My dad hates me, and my mom would most likely just be better off if I wasn't there at all!" Vesper spoke out loud, right before the door to the restaurant opened loudly. Midnight's voice could be heard in the alley.
"That is not true!"
After she had gotten out most of the patrons from Heaven's Gate with her fire hydrant scheme, Aly had brought her own fans to fill it back right up. With Vespie's toy destroyed the night could still be somewhat saved. As Usagi's girl was singing that beautiful song, 'Camilla' had silently began to clean up the place as much as she could. The spotlight seemed to agree with Hinata, and the older Faunus made sure to clap loudly when she was done.
She tried to find Vespie among the crowd, but didn't saw her. Was she already upstairs? She had it rough, and Midnight would make some nice sandwiches for the lunch. The move to Mistral had been hard on her daughter, and while it was necessary, Midnight was aware that it was far from ideal for either of the two.
Having tidied up at least the broken bottles, 'Camilla' got them all in a crate that she wanted to bring out towards the dumpster. While her daughter might have sonar, 'Camilla' had very good ears. Before she even opened up the doors she could hear Aly talking. At first she thought she was having a little get together with one of her fans. The girl always did have a very hands on approach with them. Sure, she could tell her that such behaviour might do her more harm than good if she ever wanted to settle down, but 'Camilla' knew that Aly made it far and was not the young girl filled with spunk she met years ago. The cow Faunus needed to find her own path and as long as she was happy, nobody had any right to lecture her about the way she did it.
Just as she wanted to just leave the crate of broken bottles at the door to give Aly her privacy, she heard another voice. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized it. Vespie!
Not with her ear on the slid of the door, she listened attentively at everything her daughter spoke out in frustration. Vesper... she was a good kid. After the two of them made it to Mistral, Midnight knew that Vesper was unhappy. A mother can tell. She can tell it in the way you look, in how you are distant, and in how you do not seem to have the same joy in everything you do.
Still, Vesper almost never complained after the journey.
She felt as if she didn't had a right to complain, Midnight thought. She had tried to talk about it, but every time she tried to have a little one-on-one time her daughter just said that everything was fine, and that she just needed time to adjust. At first, Midnight gave her daughter time, and when that didn't work, she had persuaded her douchebag of a father to spend more time with her. Zuma... was a dick. Even if he tried, you cannot undo years of abandonment of your daughter just like that even when he was not skipping on actually spending time with his own daughter. Midnight's latest attempt was to try and get Vesper a job. Try and let her see that she could do things. It didn't really worked out as well as Midnight had hoped, and it seemed to have only discouraged her daughter further.
Now, she was venting all her frustrations to Aly...
A part of Midnight's heart hurt because her daughter apparently didn't trust her own mother enough to tell this to, and a part was so very happy she at least had someone who cared for her who Vesper did trust.
She kept listen till the moment Vesper said that her mom wanted her gone. That was the line she wouldn't cross with her daughter thinking that. Without any hesitation she opened the door and stepped out, leaving the crate of broken bottles behind. Standing in the alley she gave Aly a nod of acknowledgement before she stepped over towards her daughter.
Vesper on her part thought she was in trouble more than anything. She had just said those words and like a bad drama, her mother had heard her say it all. Going in a different direction than Aladriel tried, she crouched down to be on eye level with her daughter. Midnight spoke in a clear tone, and while she didn't seem especially mad, she also didn't sugarcoat her words. "Vesper, none of that is true. You know I love you and that Aly just wanted to help."
"..."
"I know things have been hard but that is no reason to think such thoughts. We will get through this." "But mo-"
"No buts! You want to act mature? You wipe those tears and you take a few deep breaths. You apologize to Aly for helping you out even though you are sulking. Nobody got seriously injured, floorboards can be repaired, and you will make it in this world when you find your place. You are 19, everybody gets there eventually. You will too." "You don-"
"Did I make myself clear, Vesper?"
"...Yes mom."
Only when those words were said, did she go in to give Vesper a long and deep hug. Midnight's tail would reach out towards Aly, caressing the other woman's leg. The cow Faunus had tried hard, but she went about it wrong. Vesper sometimes needed a more stern talking to so that she could see things more clearly. Not by screaming, not by anything extreme, but by giving a short reality check.
The mom and daughter pair eventually ended the hug, as both of their heads turned towards Aladriel. Midnight took the initiative to now also extent her hand towards the cow Faunus to join the two of them in their moment. "Even though we might not have much, with us you will always have a family. Come here you!"
Vesper smiled, and added with a slight smirk and good-hearted humour. "We are not going to pay for hugs though... your fans can do that!" 1510 words; 4695 Thread Total Attempting Problem "Bat Is Sad" (Social Dificulty 12) Using 'In her Mother's loving Shadow' Dice Result 10 + 2 = 12 (Succes)

As she finished her little clown act dance, she realised it wasn't seemingly getting through. Maybe she needed to do other things as well? Her thoughts broke to a screeching halt when Vesper spoke out, and vented her frustrations. Her extended hand and smile slowly dropped as Vesper kept speaking. The things she was saying about drinking and falling off a roof, it made Aly sad for some reason. You don't mean that Vesper... it's not a good way to live. She thought to herself, her hand lowering and her smile fading gradually. The next string of words hit a lot harder and more painful than it really should've. She knew it wasn't out of spite, but it still hurt. Was that really what Vesper thought? She valued her thoughts on many things, even when she was younger, so to hear this now, it kinda hurt. Real bad.
Before her thoughts, or more her tears could start, she heard the rear door of the bar slam open and an all too familiar voice shout out. She turned to Midnight, and in her eyes she looked hurt, but she steeled her gaze after just a second of showing weakness, giving the nod back and stepping back, leaning against the bin that Vesper was beside. She gave them enough room, awkwardly standing aside incase she was needed, but her mind kept replaying those words. Maybe that's why all the bad shit that's happened as of the past few years happened. Maybe she was just a bit of a whore... There was no reason for these words the girl she used to dote and care for 10 years ago should have such an effect. Whilst Midnight was giving her daughter a reality check, Aladriel turned away to look down the alleyway, and the rear door to the bar.
It didn't take long but a tear or two fell from her face as she stayed silent and listened, before feeling the tail on brush against her leg, and the silence from the two. She wiped her eyes quickly, making sure there was no evidence of any sort of crying before turning back around to see the two hugging. It melted her heart, causing her to smile again. Her two loves, and now Vesper seemed to have cheered up. Note for next time, go for a reality check, not what clownshow she did. When they break it and Midnight offered her hand, her smile grew wider, and she hugged both of them tight. One thing that she hadn't shared with the two, was that now due to her "career choices", she had become estranged to her family, so this comment made her heart mend as quickly as it hurt. She planted a kiss on Vesper's head and one to Midnight's cheek as she nestled her head between the two, eyes closed as another single tear leaked down her cheek and onto Vesper's ear.
After several moments of the embrace, she looked up and sighed for a moment, as her attention was brought to the door again. "How about a duet, like we used to do. Vesper, I want you to join too. Lets give those girls in there a run for their money!" She gave a wide smile, smirking as well. "The night is still young!" Words: 551/1632 No new problem, just RP

HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS?
The evening had been pleasant so far. She decided to take a night to herself and relax as much as possible within the same compound she climbed into before meeting Alina. So tonight, she rested in the kitchen with a few novels. Two were normal, tweeny novels that didn't really capture her interest, but she also found one to do with the moon. She liked the moon, she felt very close to the moon and even though it was a ploy to overthrow some government, she still liked its beauty. So flicking through this book was nice. She had some hot chocolate she made herself (Impressive I know) resting beside her as she took in the information. It was interesting to learn about the different phases like Waxing, Waning, Gibbous and Crescent. It was also strange to find out that it influences the world to a degree, like the rising tides it effects.
She even planned to find out some things about the sun, but she failed to find those at the library during her last visit. Maybe next time. Then, she began to hear gunshots ring out nearby, and the radio within the kitchen began to chirp up with chatter. Her head raised from the book, turning to the window before approaching it fully. Nothing outside... was the ambush happening? She hoped not, but her fears were quelled quickly when Alina came through the radio on some emergency frequency, whatever the hell that was. Listening intently, she was already grabbing her moon blade and lacing her boots. So, toys were attacking citizens? That wasn't good, and they came from something called Grin... whatever. It was lost on her all honesty but since it was the evening during Winter, her semblance was full form.
Time to find them, and with the nearby gunshots ringing out from a mighty powerful weapon, she decided that was first. She believed it was near some orphanage but she wasn't too sure. With her sword in hand, and the radio that the announcement came through clipped to her side, she launched herself into the outside world, leaving out the maindoor of the building and heading into a light jog. Adorned in her combat "robes" and wielding her crescent blade, she brought forth four orbs of moonlight as she began to close in onto this orphanage, which happened to start gartering alot of attention. Many people were outside, and the building was on fire.
She pulled off the radio and began speaking into it, yet she sounded stern and definitely knew the military jargon as well. "This is Lunar, approaching an orphanage that sounded gunshots. Several contacts outside and the building is on fire, three toy airships circling the building in question. Contacts appear to be of similar age to me, unsure as of yet. Proceeding on foot, out." When she clipped it back to her side, even she was surprised about what she said. "What the.. whatever!"
She approached the group, who now seemed to be all students from that strange academy in the Cloud District, to which she looked over them before looking at the building, before approaching closer and calling out. "Are there people inside?!"

[attr="class","nikki109"]Neat. It looked like Lunar had got there first and had fiddled with the radio enough to actually relay useful information. The building was on fire with multiple airborne toys around it – which was weird because Alina didn’t recall seeing any airborne toys at all in her neck of the woods, as well as being surrounded by teenagers so it was crowded. All really good things to know, and things she could use to immediately act when she was on the way. [break][break]
Taking a moment to pull out her own radio with her left hand, she spoke in the Iron Wolves general channel once more. ”Sienna, might be a good idea for you to run over here as well when you can. If there are kids inside we’ll need someone fast to get them out.” Then it was just putting the radio back and resuming the pedaling, which probably made her look absolutely fucking ridiculous given that she was doing it in a goddamned suit. [break][break]
Once she arrived, first things were first. Snapping the fingers of her left hand three times, the three airships were turned into harmless ash in a second after being bathed in white flames. She was able to do that without even getting off the bike, and after that she dismounted and gently put the bicycle on the ground so she could retrieve it later. There was a quick glance to see who all was there and whether she recognized them, and she confirmed at least one Haven student was there before shrugging and wordlessly walking over to the side of the building to begin climbing up the side of the building without a moment of hesitation or checking to see the specifics of the situation. That wasn’t how she rolled, frankly, and that behavior for better or for worse had rubbed off on more than one of her subordinates. [break][break]
She did so more quickly than even she thought she would and made it to the part of the roof where the fire was spreading pretty quickly. Putting her hands on the flames, she simply used her semblance to turn the wood surrounding the flames to ash and thus snuff out both the oxygen and the flammable material nearby. She took out the fire with stronger fire, just as the gods intended. Jumping down from the initial hole in the roof, she quickly worked to move the kids out of the immediate range of the fire and snap her fingers to simply do the same thing again, snuffing out the fire by removing the oxygen from the local area and removing all flammable materials it could jump to. It turned out that the person with fire as a part of their soul knew how fire worked and how to contain natural ones decently well, who knew. [break][break]
She’d order the kids to evacuate outside, and then pull out the radio once more to give a deadpan update of the situation. ”Nevermind. Looks like it’s all clear for now. Just be careful that some of the toys seem to be flammable. Whoever designed this did not do basic safety testing, that’s for sure.” [break][break]
Looking up and around to make sure there was no more open flame, the wolf faunus wiped some residual ash off of her suit as she walked down the stairs after the trail of kids that had just been saved from a rather gruesome death by her quick action with a rather satisfied smile on her face. It wasn’t every day you got to make an impact so obviously good in the community, and shit like this was fantastic PR material at any time of the year – but especially around this one. She was even in photograph ready condition, too, which made it even better. Right place, right time worked out really well when the stars aligned like this. [break][break]

With the toy cars slowing down and melting, she hoped that would be the end of it. That this was just an isolated incident because someone was trying to pick a fight with them. Then the radio chatter picked up and she heard gunshots in the distance. No such luck it seemed. Sighing, she bolted towards the workshop to grab her tools. Even though she could take vehicles apart pretty easy with her semblance, putting them back together was far more difficult. It was safer, and typically faster, to do that without superpowers. As much as she wanted to jump into the fray right now and try to help resolve the rest of this, a lot of the Iron Wolves were respectable fighters themselves. Russet would be able to move faster if her bike wasn't in pieces, so it was worth taking the five minutes she needed to put it back together properly. She let Russet know she was going to be right back just so it didn't look like she was running off and ditching her.
With that done, she took a moment to decide how to proceed. She really needed to do something about the food before it spoiled, but with something this dangerous happening she couldn't really justify worrying this much about food. It'd suck to lose it, but prioritizing that over the safety of the people living in the Ground District would be awful. They were still just toys though, so they probably wouldn't be too much trouble as long they didn't come in large groups like that. Splitting up to cover more ground seemed like the way to go.
Or at least, that's what she thought until she heard Alina's voice over the radio saying that some orphans were in a burning building caused by the toys, and she could see the flames from where she was standing. Why the fuck could a toy crashing into a building cause a fire like that? Right, Mistral. Sometimes she forgot how negligent people could get away with being here.
"On my way!"
With that, she bolted towards the direction Alina indicated only to get another message shortly after saying she wasn't needed anymore. Blinking, she slowed down and came to a stop. If Alina already had that area covered, then she supposed they might as well split up again.
"Understood. I'm heading north then."
She could hear some shouting coming from the bar not too far away, so that seemed like a good place to check first. While heading there, once again she slowed down. This time her jaw dropped. Her route took her though a small shopping district. One of the stores had been taking toy donations, and apparently got quite a few that they hadn't distributed yet. The stores weren't open, so there weren't any people in the area, just a huge amount of toys that took some other toys for their plans. The toys constructed a huge castle made out of various building toys. The main structure was made of legos and was nearly as tall as the shops in the strip mall. There were a few draw bridges at the bottom letting cars carrying supplies in and out. The top was covered in what was probably supposed to look spiky if they weren't made out legos, and there were skull and explosion patterns with in the walls. There were battlements and watchtowers made out of lincon logs, some further platforms to help with transport made out of waffle blocks, and entire landing area for planes made out of a train set, and a few towers in various places lining the streets made out of stacking cups. It looked like something out of an edgy ten-year-old's dream.
The entire structure was filled with toys that started talking in stock phrases once they saw Sienna approach. They must have been using this as some kind of base of operations, and it must have taken most of the lego sets in the store in order to build. There had to be thousands of bricks in that. One of the sentries on the stacking cups shot her with an arrow that harmlessly bounced off her aura since it was about the size of her fingernail and made of cheap plastic, and several other toys started climbing over the walls and coming out of the drawbridges. Some were in toy vehicles, others just ran.
"Attention!"
"Do you want a hug?"
"I'm Bel Burzanova, Vytal Tournament winner!"
"I love you!"
"Hostile sighted!"
"I'm a little pony!"
Some of what the toys were saying made sense given the context and others didn't. She supposed that toys were pretty limited in what they could say. If all of them were only going to shoot cheap arrows at her she wouldn't be concerned, but apparently the toys had gotten their hands on Molotov cocktails and other weapons and were starting to aim them at her. Better her than the orphanage or other buildings and people. If she could keep them focused on her, then maybe they wouldn't go anywhere else. Sienna opted to start running in circles around the strip mall while occasionally kicking the castle's walls to draw their fire.
"Alina! I think I found their...HQ? I don't know." This entire thing was surreal enough that she wasn't sure how to describe it. "Big lego castle in the strip mall on Tsuchi and Di. There's a ton of toys here, but I have them focused on me."

New Problem: Storm the Lego Castle (Combatants 12)

❝I Was Lightning,
Before The Thunder❞

She kept in line with Argent as they walked toward the Shopping District and couldn't help but smile softly as he tucked the comics in his jacket. At least he hadn't flat out refused her! Maybe...there was hope for Kishie after all...having someone like him to worry about her. It must be a real nice feeling...to have someone care and worry over you like that.
She clutched her scarf and felt her heart start to pound faster in her chest at the thought. The little fox bawling her eyes out in a hospital bed...and Rose wiping them away, feeling the soft touch of her skin as she stared into her dazzling sapphire eyes-
EH!?
Rose shook her head furiously to wipe the image out of her head, sensing heat rise up on the back of her neck as she scratched her cheek. She laughed awkwardly to play it off, hoping to whatever god listening that Argent hadn't noticed how weird she was being.
"Yeah yeah! She's just like...a brat and I dunno what the fuck she would want! If I did, then I wouldn't be asking ya, now would I!? DUH!"
An explosion went off, she could faintly see it against the skyline. It made her jade eyes widen and all sense of stupidity left her body...holy fuck what was that?
"Argent, ya see that?" Her voice was calm. Collected. Eyes steeled sharply as she pointed in the direction of the fire that was blazing. "Just another day in Mistral, huh? Let's check it out an' don't you DARE get them comics wrecked, ya hear!?"
She wasn't sure if he would follow, but considering their profession it was a given. Rose ran at a regular sprinting pace, not activating her semblance to give her comrade a chance to keep up with her. The blonde cut through the Shopping District in the hopes of saving time while keeping an eye open for any ambush, terrorists or...Lego castle?
Rose stopped in her tracks and just stared at the massive building. And clapped.
"Hoolyyyy SHIT! Who the hell had the time an' effort to build this honkin' behemoth!"
From the battlements of the castle, a Molotov was flung in Rose's direction which she side stepped easily enough. It would have pissed her off, but honestly? When she saw that it was...a little soldier doll that threw it...Rose could only snort.
"Oh ho ho, this is precious. Hey, girlie! What in the hell are you doin' with yer little toy castle? Ya should get the hell outta here! It ain't safe!"
The red head seemed to be preoccupied with running around in circle and playing around like an idiot, so Rose cracked her knuckles while baring a wicked toothy grin. An arrow flew straight at her, smacking her right in the forehead and bouncing off of her aura.
"Okay. Consider my pet...peeved."
The blonde stomped forward at first and then it turned into a full on bull rush. The toys frantically opened fire upon her, but her aura merely shimmered a scarlet red as she thrust her elbow forward and smashed into the gate of the fortress! Rose fell forward and hit the ground, leaning her shoulder into a combat roll. Growling angrily, she unsheathed Rebellion to defend herself and stomped at any toys that dared to approach her! She stood in a courtyard within the walls of the strip mall turned Lego fortress and glanced around to catch her bearings.
That was when...the toys all stopped attacking. No wait...they were chanting something. But the chant was strange, because they could only recite their programed voice lines. It was unnerving the way they were all pumping their arms and various appendages up to the sky...and then the inner cloister opened up. A massive drawbridge made of tinker toys descended, rattling off menacingly. Rose heard stomping, pounding. It was getting close...and then fire spewed from the entrance!
Out from the gateway, a clawed hand tore through the bricks and sent the debris crashing all over the courtyard. The claw gripped the edge of the parapet and pulled...revealing a gigantic resin demon. Horns curving outward from it's hideous fiery skull-like face, paint dripping off of it's massive hulking body like blood. It's tail swished awkwardly on a rotary and crushed a fleeing little Barbie doll that shrieked in a death knell.
It threw it's arms back and roared to the sky, setting it's sights on Rose and stomping towards her.
"Oh. Well...fuck me."

New Problem: Stop the Sideshow Statue from Hell! (Combatants 12)
Impotently placing his rifle against the parapet, Escarla leaned against it as he looked Bianca annihilate the toy squad with an amused smile on his lips.
Sure, he maybe was sorta useless as of now, but he would be damned if he didn't admit the sheer amount of skill the kid was displaying right now.
Granted, they were merely toys that most likely didn't entail any sort of risk for a Kid like her. But he had a good eye that the Army had trained, and he could see all of the years of experience behind the ease, sharpness, and downright ruthless efficiency behind her movements.
She knew what she was doing with that weapon. Even if he could see some slight... awkwardness from time to time. And after she was done and had discarded the Molotov, Escarlata began to ponder about what to do now.
His eyes shifted to his rifle, now merely a glorified club, before he scanned the city landscape. He had no actual clue in which part of Ground he was, which translated to him having no clue how far he was from his nearest safehouse in Wind.
But then again, he had no clue how to use the knife strapped on his leg. Looking over at Bianca to see how she was doing, Escarlata was instead met with a gaze that caused a drop of cold sweat to fall through his back.
He knew that look all too well, and it caused him to remember an all too familiar couch back in Menagerie.
He was in deep shit.
He didn't know why, he didn't even know why it worried him, but he knew he was.
Picking up his rifle, Escarlata was about to leave the scene in search of more ammo, until he heard a faint noise from behind him. Turning around, he saw what it was.
"You got to be fucking shitty me."
The toys had called for reinforcements, and the cavalry had arrived. Quickly going prone to avoid detecting, Escarlata let the small fleet of airships (Was that a fucking Zeppelin?!) fly over him.
Once the danger passed, Escarlata crouched and pretty much melted his frame against the building's parapet to look at what was going on safely.
It went to hell really, really fast.
A woman beefier than Escarlata thought was biologically possible stepped out of the orphanage, most likely due to the appearance of the air flotilla. And, in a move that made Escarlata's eyes bulge out, shot it off the sky after throwing something at it.
That's right. She threw something and that shot it down.
And, in a display that Escarlata had never seen outside of movies, the damn thing exploded upon colliding with the orphanage's roof.
'Why did it even explode?!' Escarlata thought as his frame instinctually melted with the roof. 'Was it flying on dust or some shit?!'
Well, how would it have been flying otherwise?
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he started to ponder what to do regarding the burning orphanage. But, considering how slow his mind seemed to be working, his help wouldn't be needed after all.
Turning his head to the sound of someone approaching, Escarlata couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at the sight that his eyes sent to his brain. A woman, in suit no less, was approaching riding a bike while speaking on a walkie-talkie no less. Tilting his head at the display, Escarlata suddenly let out a gasp as his body tried to pretty much disappear on the roof.
He had seen that face before.
It was impossible not to once you set foot on the Ground District.
Silently watching the woman effortlessly turn the flames off before taking the orphans outside of the previously burning building, Escarlata finally decided it was time to turn tail and retreat.
Grabbing his rifle, he threw it across his back and fastened the straps. Climbing down from the opposite side of the building, Escarlata set path to his Wind's safehouse once on the ground. WC: 637/2,838

Rarely did Sienna have any idea what she was doing. Life was contradictory and strange and even at the best of times, trying to piece together what to do or what to say to people was difficult. So, when someone asked her what she was doing in a ridiculous situation like this, it took all her self control to avoid sputtering.
"Trying to be a distraction I guess!" she paused while dodging another volley of projectiles. "Woah wait, don't charge at it!"
She would have thought that a bunch of autonomous toys throwing dangerous weapons would have deterred this woman from charging head first into them, but she was starting to learn that 90% of people with semblances were pretty stupid and thought they were invincible. When the woman didn't immediately leave the castle, she sighed and started running towards the opening she made.
The toys were congregating around the hole the woman made in an effort to surround her while a particularly ugly looking statue tried to look threatening. It was probably legitimately dangerous, but she found it so hard to take the toy army seriously that she didn't feel any particular fear. She doubted it was a good idea to stay here long though, and would prefer not to abandon a person right in the middle of the...enemy base? Good enough. She reached for the woman's hand, her grip gentle enough that she could slip out if she wanted.
"Come with me. I can get you out of here."
If she complied, Sienna would take the woman right through the wall with the help of her semblance. If she didn't well, she could at least help the woman dodge any attacks that came her way and hope that she could hold on long enough for Alina to show up. Anything plastic wouldn't last long against Alina.

Oh, hell yeah!
She was a little confused, and a quite a little alarmed when Sienna plunged her hands through her precious bike, to fiddle with uh... Something. Especially when it made the radio all screwy. But she had faith in her much more mechanically gifted friend, and she figured she knew what she was doing. Something weird was going on with her bike, and then with her radio, and then with the toys- and then, of course, Alina came in with the heat and the stopping power they needed, and she ran along, helping Sienna reclaim some of the stolen goods, listening to Alina's broadcast, before Sienna ran off to go grab something and come right back. "Roger that, boss! I'll be here!"
While she waited, she reflected on the speech her fearless leader gave over the radio system, with a smile. It felt good doing something right for once. Though she really couldn't stop to rest just yet- there were still people out there that needed her. Especially after hearing the Iron Wolves channel calling for help regarding the orphanage. She got up to start heading that way, before thinking to let Sienna know what was going on. Then, however, she got a ping about some kind of Lego castle Sienna had found, so she started heading that way.
And then she heard a lot of explosive noises, and saw a whoosh of fire off in the distance, which was in the direction of the castle, and also the direction Sienna had been heading. Casting a worried glance at her bike, she started forward on foot, activating her Semblance as soon as she had built up enough momentum to slide at her top speed along the streets, towards what was beginning to look like a...
Holy fucking shit, was that an actual goddamn demon!?
No, it had to be a toy... it HAD to be a toy!
She saw Sienna and some blonde chick near it, along with a weird scaly looking dude, and a whole bunch of chanting toys. What in the actual fuck? She stopped gliding towards it on a dime, coming to a halt as she increased friction on her feet again, but now she was stuck trying to figure out just what the fuck to do about the big dude. Her fingers twitched as she sized him up.
Well...
He was big, anyways.
She saw Sienna trying to get the blonde chick away, so she figured she could at least rush in and try to distract it for her. "Hey ugly! Over here!" It still seemed pretty deadset on gobbling up goldilocks, so she had little choice but to rush after it, quickly and easily stepping onto its leg from the side, and running up the length of its body, spraying and praying with her bullpup, to shockingly little effect. This thing was tough as hell!
But it seemed to do the trick, at least- she hadn't hurt it, but now it was more interested in her than Rose, for the time being. She jumped off just as he swatted a huge claw at her, and she began running uh...
Away?
With the big guy slowly marching after her.
"Fuck, I did NOT think this through!"

As chaos erupts through the streets of the Ground District, anyone out in the open will see an airship appear through the smoke and fog bearing the Great Grin logo on it's side. As it begins to slowly descend above the roof tops, a booming voice will resonate throughout the entirety of the district for all to hear. The voice of Great Grins founder and CEO Gordon Greene.
"Attention, this is Gordon Greene. A special protocol has been activated among the toys! They will detonate within the hour if they are not stopped! This goes out to anyone willing to help! We are deploying a care package to the center of the district containing special rods and a detonation device that will trigger an EMP effect from this airship to fry the chips inside of the toys. Please, if anyone is out there, save the children. Save everyone!"
The intercom cuts off and within minutes a large metallic box will drop into the center square of the Mistral Ground District containing six large rods, a trigger device, and a radio. What anyone does with them is up to their own morals and discretion. Best of luck!

[attr="class","nikki109"]Fucking ash. The one downside to the way she put out the fire was that it seemed to be everywhere, and got on her hands and smeared on her suit. The entire suit would need to be dry cleaned now, and the dry cleaners wouldn’t be super happy about all the random crap on the suit. Aura protected skin from injury, but not from getting dirty… unfortunately. Just as she hit the bottom floor and on her way out the door, however, her radio chirped again and she pulled out an ear piece from her suit and plugged it in her right ear so everyone around her wouldn’t hear it now that there were a lot of people around. [break][break]
”The others should be able to handle it from here.” she’d say as she exited, gesturing to the group of teenagers around the orphanage. ”Best of luck to you, off to the next fire.” [break][break]
With that, she’d go to her bike, pick it up off the ground and be off to the races once again. Normally she’d stay and soak up some more attention and thanks, but tonight just seemed to be playing whack a mole with a whole lot of small issues. She wasn’t sure the strip mall on Tsuchi and Di was big enough to have a castle, even a toy one, on the premises to be honest… but if there was one it meant a bunch of swarming ones that could be an issue to civilians. The faunus still had no idea how the fuck one managed to actually catch a building on fire, but that was a thought for another time. [break][break]
By the time she was close enough to get a visual on the area, the castle had already been destroyed and a much, much larger resin toy than the others was chasing Russet around. It was big enough to be a centerpiece in a hotel lobby or something, and for the life of her she couldn’t understand why something like that was even created in the first place. Ordinarily, someone who slung around fire would be pretty hesitant to do it around resin. It was a very heat resistant material that didn’t cleanly melt or turn into ash even under extreme temperatures, and had a nasty habit of expanding with heat or only softening up and then re-hardening after the heat was gone. Some resins were designed to be able to withstand continuous heat exceeding three hundred degrees Celsius and still retain most of its structural integrity… which would be an issue for most fire users because even with a much more powerful flame it would take prolonged exposure to melt the thing. [break][break]
”Get away from the big one unless you want to be covered with molten resin.” she’d holler out before taking care of the situation. Even ten times that amount of temperature would take a while for the integrity of the toy to fall apart… so it was a good thing Alina had more than fifteen times that amount of temperature ready to go without even getting off of the bicycle. Pulling her left hand from the handlebars and snapping her finger three times, the giant demonic toy was doused in white flames and immediately started to melt. It was able to continue moving forward due to momentum for a moment, but the flame was strong enough to partially melt and partially break apart the resin fast enough that it wasn’t able to take another step. [break][break]
Some of the matter went up in smoke as part of a rather awful smell permeating throughout the air of the immediate area, and some of it was steaming hot on the ground. Whatever chip was inside of the toy was melted completely now, as the remains of the toy turned into a puddle of liquid resin that quickly started re-hardening after the wolf faunus turned off her semblance and a pile of now separated plastics that had been sheared at the molecular level and were now melting completely as something that wasn’t resin. She stopped the bike and put down her right foot to keep upright as she started to yell out directions. [break][break]
”The gas is probably toxic. Evacuate if you can and---“ [break][break]
Just then, though, a very loud voice from above was heard. Oh, great. A toy to save them all from the rest of the toys. Wonderful. It should be everyone’s first reaction to trust random EMPs given by genocidal toys. That was the only thing that made sense, after all. What else would people do, come up with their own conclusions and not trust the weird voice in the sky telling them what to do? [break][break]
”Fucking hell.” she’d spit out before turning the bicycle around and pulling the radio out again to speak into it in the Iron Wolves channel. ”Attention all local Iron Wolves sections, stay in your neighborhoods. Do not, I repeat, do not go to the center. Chances are that’s bullshit, but on the off case it’s not I’m on my way personally. Do not assume that it will work, and continue defending your assigned areas the best you can.” [break][break]
The worst possible thing that could happen is if everyone just ran outside and put themselves in danger at once while their defenders ran off on a fool’s errand at the same time. Switching to the emergency frequency that was for everyone in the Ground District and even some in the Wind District at this point, she spoke into the radio once more as she rode towards the center. ”Hello, this is Alina speaking.
