TRP is a post-Great War AU RWBY RP set in Mistral City and Haven Academy with no canons, no rank claims, no maidens, and no god interference. We offer a progression system and site-wide events that change the setting based on player actions.
Scenario Overview: Research Base Beta enjoys a prolific and decidedly infamous reputation among Mantle's residents. So much so that being 'Beta-ed' remains a source of dread for any researcher.
Situated in the Skyfall Mountain Peaks, Beta was a sprawling research facility built into the very mountain itself. The base, as well as labs, also contained manufactories and dormitories to see to the needs of its personnel and their families. Beta, at the time of its construction, was state of the art and wholly self sufficient, capable of full operation for months, and even years, without contact with the outside world; A place for great scientific advancement, whose isolation was intended both as a security measure, proofing it against efforts of espionage, and failsafe, should any of the projects undertaken therein ever go disastrously awry.
However, as time moved on and more modern facilities were built within Atlas itself, Beta found its prestige and influence greatly diminished. Soon, it came to serve as little more than a repository for failed projects and doomed experimentation. Should Atlas deem a project unlikely to produce results while simultaneously finding itself unwilling to terminate that project, usually in the interest of national security, it would be relocated to Beta instead. So too did the administration of the facility become a place to consign troublesome individuals who were too important or well connected to outright excise from their leadership positions. Eventually, even the military staff of the base would come to be made up mainly by the dregs of army. Nearing the end of its operational life, Beta was a punishment more than an assignment, from which one's career, whether academic, political, or militaristic, was unlikely to recover.
By all accounts, Beta was a grim place during these years. Supporting only a handful of disgraced R&D teams, run by disinterested or even resentful administrators, and overseen by incompetent military personnel, all amounting to less than a quarter of the staff the base was designed for, much of the outlying facilities fell into disuse and disrepair. The aging systems were just as much of a hindrance, with communications with the outside world being spotty at best, even with the, then recent, development of the CCTS. Perhaps that's why it took so long for Atlas Personnel to realize not all was well within Research Base Beta.
That, in fact, something had gone horribly wrong.
